A local Gem. We passed by this place for years not knowing it was there. What a mistake for not stopping in sooner. My wife and I thought all the parking lot traffic was for the pizza place. WOW, a tavern with a friendly, personal owner and a staff to match. They have home made , fresh made food every day. Right down to grinding their own meet for fresh hamburgers. The flatbread pizza was awesome. They have live music on Friday nights and Trivia twice a month. We are going back Friday to enjoy good food and live music. It will become a regular spot for us. This location is extremely affordable. The cocktails were excellent. Service was quick and fast, but I'm surprised they just brought the check and didn't ask if we wanted another cocktail or any dessert. Maybe training needed on the server. The manager dropped by and asked how we enjoyed everything. The Chicken Parm was OK. Not sure what was missing, but not really the best I've had. The fish in the fish and chips was pretty bland and a small portion of fish that I've ever experienced. They left the fish in the fryer a little too long but overall, I would return especially for the cocktails. I grew up in Queensbury and have always wanted a go-to restaurant on this side of town. Now I live out of town, but whenever I come back, I'm always thankful to be able to come here for a great meal and that old home town feel. I just ordered their new "Fried Chicken Sandwich" and I'm not kidding when I say it was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Their fries were also seasoned and cooked perfectly. That, along with my fiddlehead IPA was extremely enjoyable. Every time I've been here, the bartenders have been so friendly and helpful with suggestions. John, one of the owners, always makes a point to make sure we're satisfied whenever I'm here and I can really tell the owners care about you feeling at home. Waitress was nice, New but very nice. New prolly because the food not the best we ever ate. 3 of us were the only ones in there on a Saturday night. @ 8:00pm. The wings were pretty decent. After reading some of the other reviews I've come to the conclusion that. The cook must've been off their game the night we were there. We'll try it again another time. read more

Doesn't even deserve one star. Stopped in for dinner, my husband had the haddock and got food poisoning, and it ruined our vacation. The Mac and Cheese came right out a kraft instant cup. Do not recommend, very disappointed!!!! read more

I have always gone here for the wings but after today I will be looking for a new place to get wings, they were over cooked and very dry, sent them back and a new order was brought out and they were the same and waitress had such an attitude and said " what do you mean they are overcooked everyone loves our wings, you are the first person that didn't like them" read more

I have lived in this area for over 15 years and been around here my whole life! I've NEVER been to the Tavern, only because I didn't know it was there, but Man I was MISSING OUT!!! I have been twice in the past week and I plan on going again, again and again! The food is EXCELLENT, at least the days I went in Wednesday and Sunday early evenings! The menu is to die for. They literally have EVERYTHING under the sun! I'm telling you if you don't go you are missing out! The staff is SUPER friendly and always there to help each other out, and I loved seeing that! Great place! They rolled out the red carpet for us here! Group of 7 out of towers and you would think we were regulars! Wes was our server and she was fantastic. Food was really good, haddock, salmon and burgers were all good. Also did the Thanksgiving bites as an app- yummy! Also had live acoustic music, mostly 70's rock with some other good tunes in there. I grew up going to Sokol's Market for candy and milk, and was disappointed when they closed. But when I found out they're now running The Tavern, I was psyched to try it! Boyfriend and I were in town for the holidays and stopped by for a drink while my parents were having a piano moved out of their house (ain't nobody got time for that). I ordered the Davidson Brother's IPA (holla, local beer!) and he got a Jack and Coke. Now, not only were both drinks $1 off on happy hour, but his Jack and Coke was in a PINT glass, and strong as anything I'd make at home! Maybe stronger! We shared a basket of mozz sticks, too, which were done perfectly with some tasty marinara to top it off. The service was quick and friendly, and it felt great to be patronizing a place right in my hometown, owned by folks in my hometown. We'll be back for more next time we're in town, for sure. read more

The bartender, whose name rhymes with Smashley, was unattentive & made a drink that was lousy; I took one sip & was done. We order onion rings & wings to eat while we were there & the Hawaiian Chicken & Black & Blue Steak Tips to go. The wings were soggy, the onion rings were burnt & we had to ask them to cook more; they were still burnt. The Hawaiian Chicken was also burnt & dry. The Black & Blue Steak Tips looked like death & they were dry as well. The fries that came with the two dishes were just as bad as the onion rings. We will NEVER go there again. Gross!!! read more

Ate there twice and both times food was fair to poor. I was looking forward to the spiedies, but the chicken was dry, tasteless and was a small portion. Second visit, I ordered the garden salad with grouper. The grouper was cold and unseasoned and I sent it back for a hot piece. The tiny portion was returned obviously slightly microwaved and now only lukewarm and dry. Salad greens were fresh. Others in my group said the chili was OK, grilled chicken sandwich nothing special. Overall service was very slow and inattentive both visits. Pleasant decor and nice bar and lots of things if local interest on the walls. No one in my group on both visits was impressed. In asking around, no one else I know who tried The Tavern was happy enough to consider returning except for Happy Hour drinks. read more

I had lunch here with my Mom today. This was my second visit, her first. I came back because I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago and had a good experience. Mom lives near The Tavern, but she had never been. On both visits the interactions with the staff were quite pleasant. Service was prompt and courteous. Today I had a nice chat with our server about the food. Mom had the Rachel. She said it was the best she has ever had. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I don't know if it was the best I have ever had, but it was very good. I ordered the Hot Buffalo sauce and it was nice and spicy, but not so hot that I couldn't taste the chicken and the vegetables in the wrap. The sauce was just right for me. Those things might have typically earned a 4 Star rating. What put this particular lunch at 5 Stars was the Sweet Potato Fries. I love Sweet Potato Fries, when they are done right. And by "done right" I mean crispy. Most places that I have tried leave them limp - almost to the point of being mushy. These were nice and crisp, the way they should be. I mentioned that to our server and she said that she felt the same way. I felt a little bad because other than us there was only one table occupied. We got there just before noon. And the weather was pretty miserable - heavy rain and thunderstorms on and off all morning with more of the same predicted for the afternoon. I hope that is what kept people away. This place deserves to have much larger crowds. On my previous visit it was a bit busier, so I hope it was just the weather today. read more

My wife went for an early dinner last night.the atmosphere was very nice. We shared onion rings that were too greasy. My wife had a salad with steak which she said was wonderful and I a Fish and chips. Unlike the onion rings the fish and chips were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent for that time of night. As we were leaving around 7:00 the place was filling up nicely with mostly family's. At that point I was thinking that they may have been a little under staffed. (That is speculation) I would definitely recommend going there. read more

Suggest they taste their own food. Parm Chicken wings with shaved parm cheese only - no parm sauce so very bland. Shaved cheese rolls off... Chicken nachos were very simple and nothing special, had to hunt for the chicken. Chicken sandwich way over cooked - almost black but was ok - didn't taste burnt. Fries were ok. Service was fast and friendly. They need to think about the taste of their food if they want to succeed. read more

The worst experience. Bad food and service on 7/20/16 . Had to send back our meal and it came back a little better . Still not good . The bartender was to busy hitting on guys than tending bar. I've ate there a year ago . Food was great . Not sure what happened. I won't eat there again. I advise people go to talk of the town or Harvist . Had the Hawaiian Flatbread. Meh. It was a little underdone, and the ham looked like slices of ham you buy at the deli. My side salad was good, and the Cucumber Wasabi dressing was good. I've been several times with my young children, and for Happy Hour with my friends. I have had their hamburgers, calamari, flat bread, and salads. I have been very happy with my food, the service, and the atmosphere. The restaurant is very clean, and the staff is friendly. We stopped by the tavern after my boys baseball game, the boys still had their baseball uniform on, and when we ordered the waitress told us that the boys would get 50% of there meal for still having the uniform on. Awesome! Who doesn't like to save money. Also they just put out there new menu...the food is some of the best around. I had been wanting to try The Tavern after driving past a full parking lot on a few occasions. We ate there on a Saturday evening and there was one other table and a few people at the bar. I was surprised to see how large the restaurant is inside. It looked clean and your average ADK bar. The menu looked good as well and had enough variety to suit plenty of people. I opted for the special of the night buffalo chicken nachos, my mother had a burger with grilled pineapple, and my husband had garlic parm wings. Not one of us was happy with our food. The nachos were cheap tortillas with buffalo chicken dip scattered across - not at all what I was expecting from restaurant nachos. I could have made better at home. The burger was over cooked. The wings were covered in garlic and then had some parmesan shavings on top. Despite the lack of customers, service was very slow and the waitress seemed confused. Another diner sent back dessert and was told by the bartender that its usually good maybe it had set out all weekend. Its prepackaged food cooked poorly. I will never return.
