I would like to share my amazing experience with Crown Ford because I believe customer service is…read morebecoming a lost art. I personally base all of my repeat business on customer service and when I find businesses who have great customer service I want to shout it from the rooftops. Backstory: I was on a very long trip where I drove from the Bay Area to WA to help a friend. I had been gone from my family for 2.5 weeks. I was returning home when my car started making a terrible sound. Still being 5 hours from home, I wasn't in the best of situations. In 12 hours I had been dispatched 5 different tow trucks that never showed up. Finally, the 6th one towed my car an hour to the nearest Ford dealership which happened to be Crown Ford. There were many other factors besides what I wrote that made me completely frazzled at this point. How Crown Ford made my crappy situation better: Once my car started making the terrible sound I called Ford but the service center was already closed for the day. Kurt, a sales manager, graciously helped me come up with ideas on the best way to handle this abnormal situation like how to get my car and myself to the dealership an hour from my location. He told me to text him if I needed anything. He also spoke with the service department the next day to see in what ways they'd be able to help me. This goes above and beyond his sales job requirements. I grateful to Kurt for helping me problem solve through a stressful situation. When I arrived at Ford I was so frazzled from the tow truck situation. Rick, the service manager I spoke with, told me he'd help me out in any way he could but they were already booking appointments a week out and he couldn't make any promises. In my frazzled state all I heard was "we're already booking appointments a week out." Poor Rick had to watch a grown lady cry and walk off. What I failed to hear was that he would try he best to help me out and he did just that. The next morning he was able to have his guys look for any problems. Luckily it was as simple as taking a few things apart, inspecting, and putting it all back together that fixed the problem. I was on my way back home after almost 3 long weeks hundreds of miles from my family. The icing on the cake was that he noticed my driver's side window wasn't working properly and he fixed that before he sent me on my way. Kurt and Rick both went above and beyond to help an out of town customer in an abnormal situation. It saved me money on possible hotel room stays, possible rental car costs, and possibly having to drive back out to Redding (4 hrs from home) to pick up my car. Best of all, I got home safely after a long trip and was able to hug my family. The only way I can ever repay them is to pass on my experience to others. I highly recommend Crown Ford as a place to do business with based on my experience.

Surprisingly Redding Lithia Toyota did follow up. They did want to make it right after all…read more The upsell charges on the alignment that weren't a safety issue were removed. The engine light, which was the safety issue, seemed to have resolved itself on its own, but Toyota agreed to check it out anyway because we were going on a cross country road trip shortly. We had already had Another local car repair shop check the engine light issue, after Toyota found the issue but didn't diagnose, due to our concern for our safety. Both shops seemed to agree that there was a leak in the exhaust system -- possibly the gas cap. Since we had filled the gas tank since both services, we felt it was possible the 2013 gas cap could be failing since it has been with the car since the beginning. Neither shop is certain that it will be the final fix. However, as it is the cheaper and easier fix, I asked to purchase a new gas cap for the vehicle before leaving Toyota. Thank you Toyota for showing you care. Communication with each other is the key to a good experience.

UPDATE AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER:…read more After posting my original review, General Manager David Ambrozevitch responded publicly and asked me to contact him directly so he could "better understand the situation and discuss any remaining concerns." I did exactly that. Unfortunately, the conversation only reinforced my original concerns. I explained what happened with the AI-generated email and the way the sales manager handled it. Instead of acknowledging that the communication was misleading or simply taking responsibility for how the situation was handled, I essentially received the same explanation I had already been given. I also felt his attitude was dismissive rather than genuinely concerned about resolving the issue. At that point, it became pretty clear to me that the problem wasn't just with one sales manager. Customer service and accountability start at the top. I also brought up something I hadn't mentioned in my original review. When I finally picked up the truck I purchased, the gas tank was essentially empty and the truck was only partially cleaned. There was still mud on the running boards and underneath the wheel wells. When I asked the General Manager about their policy, I was told they don't fill up used vehicles and that they wash them "to a degree." For a customer who just spent thousands of dollars purchasing a vehicle, I find that level of preparation and customer service disappointing. I told him that a 10-year-old could have done a better job washing the truck. I'm not expecting perfection, and I'm not writing this because I didn't get my way. I bought the truck. What I expected was basic professionalism, communication, accountability, and a vehicle that was properly presented when I picked it up. I gave both the sales manager and now the General Manager an opportunity to address my concerns. Instead of someone simply saying, "We could have handled this better," I received explanations and what I felt was a dismissive attitude. After speaking directly with the General Manager, I now understand where the attitude I experienced at the sales-management level comes from. It starts at the top. I stand by my original review

The purchaser was a senior, and Cheyne handled the entire process with remarkable patience, kindness, and professionalism. When he first greeted us, he smiled and said, "Let's go have fun." It immediately set a relaxed and positive tone for the entire experience. From the start, Cheyne was knowledgeable and refreshingly low-key. There was absolutely no pressure--just a genuine focus on helping us find the right vehicle and making sure everything was clearly understood. Cheyne took the time to answer every question, explain the features carefully, and move at a pace that felt comfortable. He was especially thoughtful and respectful in working with a senior customer, making sure everything was clear and never rushed. Buying a car can sometimes feel overwhelming, but he made the entire process smooth, respectful, and even enjoyable. Customer service like this is rare, and it made a real difference in our experience. Because of Cheyne Birdsong, we would absolutely return to Redding Subaru and would confidently recommend him to friends or family looking to purchase a Subaru. If you're in the market for a Subaru, ask for Cheyne Birdsong--you'll be glad you did.

NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!…read more My car broke down while I was on a road trip and was towed to this dealership. Unfortunately, I was given a diagnosis that turned out to be completely incorrect. Based on what I was told, I was led to believe that repairing my car would cost thousands of dollars and that it was essentially not worth fixing. Because of that information, I made the decision to purchase a brand-new car. Since I don't live in the area, it took some time to get my original car back from the dealership. Once I finally had the car looked at by another mechanic, I was shocked to find out that the actual issue was simply a broken radiator cap which cost me 20 to fix. After that was replaced, the car was back in working order. Had I been given an accurate diagnosis in the first place, I would not have made the decision to purchase another vehicle. This mistake ultimately cost me 20,000 dollars. Unfortunately, my experience didn't end there. The dealership also performed a recall repair on the vehicle, but I was not given the documentation proving that the recall had been completed. I now need that paperwork in order to register/sell the vehicle, and despite contacting the dealership and asking them to send it to me, they have refused to mail it. Because I don't live nearby, I'm now being forced to drive 6 hours back to the dealership simply to obtain paperwork that should have been provided to me in the first place. The combination of the incorrect diagnosis, the financial consequences, and the lack of assistance afterward has been incredibly frustrating. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before trusting a diagnosis from this dealership, especially if you're being told your vehicle needs thousands of dollars in repairs.
