Surprisingly Redding Lithia Toyota did follow up. They did want to make it right after all. The upsell charges on the alignment that weren't a safety issue were removed. The engine light, which was the safety issue, seemed to have resolved itself on its own, but Toyota agreed to check it out anyway because we were going on a cross country road trip shortly. We had already had Another local car repair shop check the engine light issue, after Toyota found the issue but didn't diagnose, due to our concern for our safety. Both shops seemed to agree that there was a leak in the exhaust system -- possibly the gas cap. Since we had filled the gas tank since both services, we felt it was possible the 2013 gas cap could be failing since it has been with the car since the beginning. Neither shop is certain that it will be the final fix. However, as it is the cheaper and easier fix, I asked to purchase a new gas cap for the vehicle before leaving Toyota. Thank you Toyota for showing you care. Communication with each other is the key to a good experience. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! My transmission stopped working hours away from home this was the closest "shop". I figured I could trust the dealership. Asked them for a simple drain and fill to get back on the road and make it home. They told me my transmission was blown and needed a new one for $8,000. What a joke. Had to spend $1000 and cancel my trip to get my truck towed home. Put new fluid and filter in myself, guess what, truck runs and drives completely fine!!! $140 on oil and filter instead of 8 grand. If I could give them a zero , I would . Leaving a factual review. I have all the records to prove this has happened to me and testimony from colleagues, family and friends. I am writing this review because I need Lithia Toyota of Redding to finally do what is right. I purchased a 2017 BMW from this dealership with ~49,000 miles for approximately $22,000 and paid an additional ~$5,000 for an extended warranty, under a lot of pressure from a sales person at time of closing , believing I was making a responsible investment in a safe and reliable vehicle. Instead, within weeks of purchase, the car began experiencing repeated coolant leaks, overheating, and persistent heavy fumes inside the vehicle. Over the past 2.5 years, the vehicle has been returned multiple times for the same unresolved issue, including several tows (4-5 now) back to the dealership. On more than one occasion, I was also left to figure out transportation on my own because a rental vehicle was not available during repairs, creating even more financial and personal hardship. To make matters worse, I am repeatedly charged a $200 diagnostic fee for what continues to be the same recurring problem. During one tow, another issue was identified and presented as though it was entirely separate from the original concern, yet the vehicle is still overheating and leaking coolant to this day. It is in their shop today - another missed day of work with a migraine. What is most concerning is the impact this has had on my family. Every family member who has been in this vehicle has experienced immediate nausea, headaches, and worsening asthma symptoms. I never truly got to enjoy this car or drive it comfortably without the overwhelming smell of fumes and it leaving me stranded on my way to Sacramento for a flight -work trip. I will continue advocating for a fair and decent reimbursement because no customer should spend this kind of money -- over $30,000 total at this point, including warranty -- and be left with a vehicle that has been unsafe, unreliable, and never properly resolved. I am asking my Redding community: What would you do in this situation, and what do you feel is a reasonable reimbursement amount? I would truly value any advice, support, or shared experiences from others who may have gone through something similar. I am not going to stop advocating until this is made right. Corporate in Oregon pushes back to local dealer and dealer offers 5-8k for buy back , which I think is absurd. I have reached out to Lithia Toyota -regional office in New York with no response . Who was told there was nothing they were going to do about it, wasn't their fault, treated me like garbage. I left in tears. Went to get info on a rav4 hybrid. No one came out to check on me. Went in the main building and saw two guys sitting on the counter. When I asked for a brochure on the rav4, I was told they don't get them anymore and I would have to go to Toyota.com for information. Where do I even start? I have a newish car 2022 Camry and unexpectedly my transmission went out. I was stressing pretty hard on how I'm gonna come up with the money to fix this. I tried contacting toyota personally and got denied for any kind of help because of the miles on my car and warranty being over. Then Chris the supervisor of service stepped in. Chris went beyond and above for me and he didn't have to do anything for me but he did and he talked to Toyota and he helped me get a new transmission for my car. Be very very careful with this dealership. I was pre-approved through golden one and they insisted i run a credit check with Toyota. Golden one still had lower rates. They did my entire paperwork with the wrong rate!!! I had to redo it, and they did it wrong again. This time they through in warranty's that I did not ask for. So we did it a third time. The third time they were able to sneak in a $995 junk fee for spartan security. This is some tracking device that has an insane markup. I have been searching for a new 4Runner TRD Pro in Solar Octane for the last couple of weeks. ALL of the dealers in the SF Bay Area wanted a mark up for these cars. Markup range from $5K all the way up to $15k. I know this car is rare, and I refuse to pay for any type of markup. I saw this car on the Lithia Toyota website on Saturday night (11PM) and sent an email to inquire about the car. Steve Anderson contacted me the next morning, around 9AM, and said the car was available and there was NO dealer markup! Selling price was MSRP $55,975. I informed the salesman, Steve Anderson, that I would like to purchase the car and I can be in Redding at 4PM. I drove from San Jose to Redding and arrived a little early (3:45PM). Once I arrived, Steve was ready and helped me complete all the new car paperwork/finance document/insurance etc... we were done with everything in about 1 hour. This Toyota service department used to be fantastic but now it's horrible. Don't purchase a lifetime oil change unless you want to spend 1 1/2-3 hours waiting for your car that's with an appointment. At times I've paid out of pocket at Tread Tech Tire and auto to avoid the long wait. Dropped in a few times tires rotated. Oil changed and out the door in 30 min. The amount of time wasted waiting isn't worth it. I was told when I brought it in today for my appointment it would be 1 1/2 hours which I think is ridiculous when I have an appointment. at 1 3/4 hours I asked how much longer they hadn't even started it yet. I asked if the service manager was in and they said they were in a meeting but then found someone to change the oil. They right now have the worst service of any repair shop I've been to. It used to be very customer service oriented (anyone could and would happily help you) and over the last couple of years, we've had three unprofessional experiences. Poor Product Poor Customer Service Dishonest Employee Dan sold my daughter a car in August 2023 when she traded in her car. Two months later her transmission broke and since that time she's had to have her radiator and battery replaced. To make matters worse, Lithia sold her old car to someone else with her license plates still on the car. I've been having to sort out the FASTRAK mess since October because the new owner is using her plates. I sent FASTRAK her bill of sale but interestingly enough, the only information missing from that bill of sale was her cars license plate number. When I called Lithia to ask for the bill of sale to modified to include her license plate number, the person told me that they sell all of their cars with license plates and then proceeded to hang up on me. Bought a new Tacoma in Medford but, because I live in Redding, I'm forced to get it serviced at Lithia Toyota of Redding. I've learned to schedule regular maintenance 4-6 weeks ahead of time because they show no available appointment times on their website for regular service within a more reasonable period. I'm sure they would rather perform higher cost service than oil changes and tire rotations. My truck will need its 20,000 service in about six weeks, so I got online to schedule. The website is not working properly, and it wouldn't let me schedule, so I had to call. Of course, I had to leave a message, which I have now done twice, but nobody has returned my call. I'll keep this short and sweet so I don't put more time into a bad experience. Buying used cars is always a bit of a crap shoot--it's based on trust, research, and a bit of luck. You choose a dealership when you want some assurances. Lithia Toyota, and specifically Mike Hamilton and Cory, floor manager, appear civil, but they're just out to make a buck. My daughter and I found a car, arranged a visit, committed to a car, and they sold it out from under us after they said it was being repaired and off the lot but would be ready when we got there. After the mis-deal, Mike was defensive, and Cory threw him under the bus. Who knows the inner workings of dealerships, and definitely used car dealerships are always suspect, but a certified Toyota dealer should be above board all the way around. This one isn't. They also promised to replace a front bumper that had been attacked by a dog, but later said they'd only repair it with bondo and paint. Take a look at the photo. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't ridiculous first. Bottom line is, ethical practices are suspect. Buy at your own risk. What I wouldn't do is trust what they say. And for me, trust is critical when buying from a dealer. Here's another ding on their reputation. Oh, after the dispute, Mike tried to upsell me a new car and another car? Really? Don't you get it?
