I stopped by Frozen Yogurt Tribeca yesterday with my niece. I hardly ever go there, but we were nearby and decided to grab something sweet. I had the chocolate, pineapple and vanilla. All three tasted fresh and were good. My niece tried a mix of other flavors with a few toppings and she liked hers. The prices are extremely high. Even for Tribeca, it feels like too much for frozen yogurt. The atmosphere is okay. It is clean and it works for a quick stop, but it does not feel warm or inviting. The staff is also just okay. I used to really like this place, even with the high sticker price for a yogurt shop. The Dole Whip is good, my girl likes the others base flavors. However, lately when we order, the yogurt shows up with a crazy skimpy amount of toppings. We hoped this was a fluke, but every time the same thing. Order shows up with very little on top. Each topping costs 1.75... 5 cherries? A tiny handful of sprinkles? For two bucks? And todays delivery was better with the toppings than the last two times (though today is still completely unacceptable for the price). This might be ok if toppings were included, but they are not. Love me some froyo especially when there are lots of topping choices. Upon arrival the lady assisted with me the process and I grabbed a cup and went through the froyo options. Cookies and Cream and Cake Batter were my choices. Despite loving all the toppings, I kept it simple with just Oreo cookies. Liked that they had the utensil labeled with what the toppings were. Made it much easier to see vs pointing and asking. Would like to be more adventurous and try different flavors with toppings on my next trip, I'll just take it to go. I came here for a Yelp elite promotion and was absolutely blown away. I expected one ice cream cone and walked away with a cone, a milkshake, and soft serve. I was so giddy that you'd think I never saw ice cream before in my life! When you first walk in, it seems like a typical frozen yogurt joint. You see all the machines on your left for your cup-filling pleasure. But then there is so much more! They also make homemade brownies and donuts, as well as provide an array of traditional ice cream flavors and options. There was a lot to choose from! The staff was so kind and helped me pick everything that I wanted. One server named Alex was particularly helpful. I was wowed by the customer service! I ended up with the salted caramel pretzel ice cream, a cookies and cream milkshake, and some blackberry / pineapple dole whip froyo. The froyo was SO. Kevin no longer works here. That is all. Kevin was the #1 reason Downtown Yogurt was so great. He was patient, kind, thoughtful, grateful for the patronage, and generous with portions. A "quarter cup" with Kevin was like a "full cup" with anyone else. Alas, the past two visits, a "quarter cup" is now back to a "quarter cup," and at $5 it's really not worth it. The yogurt is fine. It's standard froyo. But the value and service are just not there anymore. Stopped in and was greeted by the friendliest gentleman. I didn't catch his name, but he was extremely welcoming and just so easy to talk to. I told him it was my first time there and he patiently explained to me their soft serve options and made some great recommendations on flavors and toppings. I went with 3 different flavors- pineapple Dole whip, Parisian tarte original and the wild blackberry, topped with some fresh strawberries, blueberries, mochi and chocolate crumbles. I saw that they also offer a vegan almond silk soft serve! I absolutely loved the froyo. It was a good consistency that didn't melt right away like some other places. Downtown Yogurt also contracts with Edible Arrangements- there were many orders being prepared by the kitchen staff and picked up by delivery personnel. While I was there, they offered me to try one of their chocolate covered strawberries, such a kind gesture and so very delicious! For those who like to sit down and enjoy their frozen treats like I do, there are a few tables inside as well as a few child-friendly benches outside. Though I have frequent the shop plenty of times I have to say this past Friday 12/11/20 I visited the shop around 3:30-4pm. I can't even begin to say how pleasant their employee was. He greeted every customer with a welcoming vibe, big smile and reminder to pump some hand sanitizer. He was so patient, friendly and engaging with every customer he interacted with including me and my son. He asked about the frequent visitors rewards which I felt compelled to do... just for him. I was told their regular flavors are the same frozen yogurt as 40 Carrots. I believe the two that are not were the Vegan Almond and the Pineapple Dole Whip. They also serve Bassett's Ice Cream, which is apparently America's oldest ice cream. Pretty cool. The price is $0.77 / ounce. This is the most expensive price I've seen for frozen yogurt in the city. 16 Handles' price is $0.72 / ounce. Menchie's is $0.63 / ounce. If there's not a lot of competition for frozen yogurt in this area, maybe that price will work. There is a rewards system that you can sign up for. This is a great spot for kids. There is a humongous TV playing cartoons, for kids to watch and adults too I guess. read more

I was asked what size (I got the small) I just wanted chocolate frozen yogurt with some chocolate chips and almonds. For $7 I ended up with chocolate chips and almonds and a little chocolate frozen yogurt. The luxury of going to places like this is to make it yourself. When someone else makes it for you, you are subjected to receiving a mystery result. I had to suck the frozen yogurt off the toppings just so I can feel like I got something other than what's posted.
