Very creamy, smooth texture! Not a ton to say here, just very good gelato! I can only imagine how good their affogatos must be.

Overall: 4.5/5 I got a small cone ($9.50) to share with my brother so we could pick two flavors. They give you a really generous amount and the customer service was great. They let you sample the gelato before you commit which is always a plus. They even let us try an off menu matcha that was actually really good. Strong, bold matcha flavor and once it hits the menu it is definitely worth trying. The Banoffee Rivareno with mascarpone, banana, and caramel was good and tasted like a creamy banana. Simple but satisfying. The Cremino Rivareno with hazelnut, white chocolate ganache, and gianduia swirl was delicious and one of our two picks. Not super sweet which was a nice change. The Tiramisu was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. It was probably our favorite flavor outside of the matcha and paired really well with the Cremino Rivareno as a combo. The portion was so generous that we were full afterwards and ate a light dinner.

Most gelaterias in the City tend to give small scoops for enormous amounts of money. Rivareno is no exception, I was in the neighborhood and realized that I had been here only once. Had to have another gelato. I got two scoops for $10.84. As I sat to eat, I realized that a magnifying glass would have helped. Within a few spoonfuls I was looking woefully at my empty cup wondering if I should splurge to have more. Thankfully good sense prevailed. Next time and then I will ask Joe to put more in. Today there were a few customers.

Delicious chocolate sorbet and lychee sorbet (both vegan) on a hot day. The chocolate sorbet tastes like gelato and it's excellent.

I'm pretty confident this is the best gelato in NYC - why? Because I just got back from a trip to Italy and taste tested ALL the top gelato spots. Our favorite in Florence (where gelato was invented) was Rivareno! We had no idea they had a location in NYC so we will be visiting frequently! My favorite flavor here is the cremino rivareno and cremino dark. Super creamy and nutty. Their pistachio cream is also great and it's good quality pistachios unlike some places The only downside to this is it's $9.50 for a small here and it was only 3 euros in Italy lol Will be back to try more flavors! This is the real deal!

Y tried the mañana Carmel and it was very good. I'll probably gonna be back again to try more flavors

I think this gelato shop is similar another popular nyc gelato place - Anita's - in terms of texture and taste. Perhaps I'm just not a huge fan of super smooth gelato. I did the quality of the gelato was quite good and certainly better than Anita's. The pistachio flavor isn't too strong, the cremino rivareno flavor is hazelnut based and is quite a bit stronger. I do like the gelato but its quality does not justify $11.5 (after tax) for two smallish scoops of gelato, especially given my opinion on its consistency. Service is kind of slow since there's only one person working the front and oftentimes a line. When I went around 9pm on a weekday, there were no tables to eat inside. 4.4/5

I'm ASTOUNDED at the quality of this gelato, this place will ruin you for gelato for the rest of your life. Once you get gelato here you will not be able to eat others The pistachio and gianduia combo is the elite order. The prices are not cheap, but I came here 3 days in a row on a recent trip if that shoes how much this place is truly so so so so unique.

I swear by 95% of Italian gelatos that are stored with tin can coverings. I say this as a partner of an Italian man. We don't visit gelato establishments that have mountain-high, fancy, whipped displays of gelato. There is only one place that we make an exception for this, and that is ONLY for Giolotti in Rome. This is because whenever there is gelato stacked super high, 9/10 times, they use cheap filler to create volume. That being said, the gold standard of gelato in the city are Rivareno, Gentile (from Bari), and L'art de Gelato. You can taste the quality of ingredients and the taste is highly pronounced and pigmented - not artificial. We've gotten the specials of key lime pie and chocolate peanut butter, and it truly heaven in our mouths. A favorite of ours whenever we visit SoHo for errands, eating, and or shopping.

If you mourned the absence of Grom for years, you can finally rejoice. Since Grom has closed its doors during the pandemic, I have been searching for a gelato shop that offers high quality, yogurt gelato. I found that most places don't carry it or only offer it temporarily. However, yogurt is one of the regular flavors at Rivareno. It goes great with lemon sorbet or pistachio gelato by the way. The quality and intensity of flavor are on par with Grom. Also, I have this belief that artisanal gelati are kept in closed stainless steel containers. Those open tubs with colorful mounds of gelati look enticing, but I suspect they are made with flavor mixes. Grom had them in containers and so do Rivareno. It is pretty pricey, but they use high quality ingredients and they are in NYC, so... just shut up and enjoy the gelato!

This gelato was SO GOOD. I loved that they had such unique flavors like yogurt because I love tart original froyo but this was even better. So creamy and you get to choose two flavors. A place to go twice in one week.

Overall: C // 3 stars New gelato shop open in SoHo with an intriguing menu featuring unique flavors like Lychee and Banana Coffee. Unfortunately, I found their gelato to be quite light in flavor, and could benefit from using more fruit or fruit that is more in season, especially for the price tag hovering around $10. One of the best gelato places I've been to in NYC and they have the best service. They were welcoming and kind. They were patient and let us try a few flavors. From my understanding, they are one of the few ice cream makers that make the gelato on site. I really enjoyed their crema (custard, that was surprisingly yellow hue) and the pumpkin spice flavors. I also had the dark chocolate and nocciola (hazelnut) which were a bit too thick for me. The shop has a minimal and clean vibe. The cups are small, but probably intentionally because they really fill them. They're a bit pricey, but I think the quality is really good and it's a good treat to have every once and a while.

She reports an excellent experience! I tried the more savory Smoked Turkey with shrooms and Swiss Cheese. As big as they are, it was so good I was still thinking of getting seconds. They also have vegetarian, fruit and chocolate crepes. They are open until 2am. Not that we'd ever need it, it's nice to know. Creperie on Ludlow St came up in my search and we happened to be down that way on Sunday. I'm also a huge ice cream and gelato fan, but husband is lactose intolerant so he prefers non-dairy. Last year we discovered the amazing vegan ice cream at Orchard Grocery, but I wanted the real thing this trip and he apparently hadn't wanted a frozen treat at all so wouldn't do Orchard Grocer for himself and a different place for me. Happy medium? Share a good crêpe! We found it at Crêperie. SO many choices, many similar to ones we loved in France. Extensive selection, but it didn't take long to decide on the apple-walnut-caramel crêpe to share, costing not much more than 2 ice creams. We watched the lone young man as he poured batter onto the round griddle to just the perfect thinness; as he expertly flipped it; as he loaded on plenty of apple compote, plenty of walnuts, and gently squeezed caramel sauce. Then he folded it into a neat rectangle, scooped it into an exactly the same size pan, flipped the whole thing over onto another griddle and left it to heat while he made a crêpe for the person behind us. At exactly the right moment (was he watching the clock? or maybe he's just THAT good!), he flipped it over, slid the crêpe onto a plate, artistically drizzled more caramel sauce on top and then gently shook some powdered sugar over it. Handed me 2 forks and knives and we sat on stools at the counter for our Sunday afternoon treat! Excellent! They have several savory crêpes (in Paris, those were usually buckwheat crêpes called galettes) and many sweet ones. Unfortunately it's more of a takeout place, with just the few stools at a counter inside, and a couple of small tables outside. I'm still looking for a genuine Parisian-style restaurant with a good selection of galettes and crêpes - but this was a great find and I definitely recommend it to you!

Not to mention, two crepes made for (surprisingly) a lot of food. I ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tempura and the Spicy Crabmeat, plus a Thai iced tea and a dark chocolate milkshake. The biggest difference from traditional French crepes is the shell, as it was slightly crisp on the outside but soft and chewy inside, thanks to the rice flour. It holds savory fillings well without getting soggy. - For the shrimp crepe, the tempura kept its crunch, and the sauces added sweetness and heat without overpowering everything else. - The Spicy Crabmeat leaned richer and creamier with a mild kick. - Both were satisfying without feeling overly heavy. - The Thai iced tea was classic and sweet, and the dark chocolate milkshake was thick and indulgent. Service was quick and efficient -- you order at the counter, and the crepes come out neatly wrapped and easy to eat. The staff was friendly and helpful when answering menu questions. Ambiance is casual and compact, very St Mark's energy. Limited seating, mostly quick-bite style, and good for grabbing something while walking around the neighborhood rather than lingering. I love rosemary and focaccia, so this was perfect to start the meal. I loved the Olitalia extra virgin olive oil it was served with, and definitely would order again! - Limoncello Spritz: I'm in my summer spritz era, and adored the limoncello as you usually just see Aperol. Very light, refreshing, and a great drink to sip with my meal. - Diavolo Dolce: My coworker ordered this, and I tried a little. Hot spicy honey paired with whipped ricotta was truly divine, and the other ingredients complimented as well. Ultimately, I was left with entrée envy as I wish I ordered this. - Bucatini Cacio e Pepe: Very underwhelming, and I even spent $12 to add shrimp as a protein. I'd skip this next time as there are far better Cacio e Pepe out there. - Add Shrimp ($12): This came with only 4 shrimp, which means each shrimp was $3. I was flabbergasted at the price for the portion provided. It wasn't even that great of shrimp, I'd skip next time. Our waitress wasn't very talkative, but pleasant. Another member of the wait staff dropped off food that wasn't ours, so we had to flag down the waitress to take back. Thankfully, we didn't touch our food. Our food would arrive shortly, and allowed me to take in the scenery. Eataly is remarkable in size, selection, and felt like the Disneyland of Italian cuisine and products. I'd definitely return, but likely skip the Pizza/Pasta restaurant to try another restaurant or service counter instead. Heck, even make sure I had a checked bag to return home with some goodies packed in my checked bag from Eataly. Definitely stop by if local or visiting the area!
