We just celebrated my birthday here. The chef was amazing. He took special care to make sure my 5 year old niece who was scared of fire wasn't scared. He also added a special fire twirling routine to the end of the show. It was very good. Food was excellent. (Even my father and brother-in-law thought so, and that's not easy.) We went to Dozo in Easley this evening to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We pull up to the door and there's a sign stating that they are closed due to a gas leak. We're only there a minute thinking where are we going to go when to men come out and explain the situation and say that the Powdersville location is open and offer to call ahead and let them know that we are coming and that we would be seated immediately upon arrival. We drive to Powdersville and are in fact seated immediately. The food was very good and the ambiance is similar to the Easley restaurant. The chef and waitress were very nice as well. My only complaint is that it was a little warmer than when I've been at the Easley location. read more

I have been to Easley many times but had never been to Dozo until a few nights ago. I am pretty picky when it comes to Hibachi restaurants but I was pleasantly surprised after trying this place out. I came on a Wednesday night with a friend and we were sat immediately. Everyone was so friendly there. Our waitress did a phenomenal job- never had to ask for a refill, to-go box or even our check. Our soup and salads were brought out immediately and the chef came to start cooking only a few minutes after we ordered. The service was speedy and the food tasted great. I'm very unhappy with my last two visits to this location. We went in for lunch and felt unwelcome and in a hurry to leave so they could close for lunch. The second experience we knew that they would be closing so we tried to place a to go order. The lady on the phone was very rude and told us our only option was to place a to go order and that we had to pay on the phone. We explained to her that we would be there in the next 5 minutes to pay with cash and she refused. This was 45 mins before they closed. I'm very unhappy with the service here. Can't believe how the quality of this place has gone down. Used to be a favorite. Short staffed, wewaited almost an hour at lunch for a simple salmon hibachi plate when there were only 5 other tables in the restaurant. Told no more "sit at" hibachi at lunch so just ordered off menu. Salmon came out so overcooked i literally picked it up in one piece and tapped it on plate and it splintered into hard chunks. Had to wait for another piece and was told to go ahead and eat everything else, even though I wanted to eat it together. Veggies consisted of 2 pieces of broccoli, 2 pieces of carrot and alot of onions. Everything, including the second piece of overcooked salmon , was bland and flavorless. Never any apologies or acknowledgement from manager or anyone. People behind us got served wrong item and were brought a dish person was allergic too. This is my go-to sushi bar in Easley. The owners (all brothers) are very nice and take the time to get to know you. The sushi is fantastic. Even better, they will make custom rolls at your request. Popular ones end up on the menu. (My contribution is the White Tiger roll. Try it, it will become your favorite!) Great lunch special for sushi - 2 rolls (from a selection of about a dozen) for about $8. You will have a hard time finding a better deal than that. My advice - if one of the owners is making sushi (which is almost always the case), tell them to make whatever they want. They will hook you up with a creative plate that will dazzle your senses. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. This restaurant will not survive another year at the rate of decline the snob nose owner has it going. We used to visit this place at least once a week or every other week until about 6 months ago when their food and service started declining. You can tell the owner is at HER BREAKING POINT and it is sad, sell the restaurant or do whatever it takes to have excellent customer service at least 99% of the time at minimum. The owner of this place has lost her mind. Not going to drag this out any longer but if you have "kids", children, avoid going here. Long story short my 2.5 year old child dropped their soup spoon (by accident) and it broke. Our child was crying for another spoon to eat their soup and when asked for another "soup" spoon it was declined. We paid it no mind becauae the owner has always been a BITCH but then the server brings us our check and the owner added the spoon cost to our check / bill. A cheap spoon from CHINA that broke after multiple uses and washing through dishwasher and we get charged for it? Then you take the broken spoon in your possession? If I had to pay for it that is fine but atleast let me take it home!! How Petty to charge for a spoon. I mean if a spoon is that much to you then you need to close your doors. I worked in a restaurant as a kid and multiple dishes got broken all the time and guess what it was written off as a lost. She charged us and still will right it off as a lost. There was literally only 2 tables in the restaurant at 6pm for dinner and there use to be a wait at this place until about 6 months ago because they are RUNNING their customers away!! read more

The wife has been craving sushi, and against better judgement (sushi in Easley, SC?), we tried this. There is pretty good sushi in Clemson, good sushi in Greenville, but Easley was where we were.... We'd seen Dozo previously, but been dissuaded by the locale and facade, as it is in a nondescript strip mall. Service was good, friendly, and prompt. We started with a salad; the ginger dressing, on iceberg lettuce, was so-so. I always figure anything I order out ought to better my homemade; this didn't.... We ordered a few rolls: spicy tuna as a normalizer, then a salmon avocado, and a chef's special (the Caribbean). The first two were fine, although not spectacular. (Interestingly, the first seemed to be spiced with wasabi, rather than a firecracker sauce; not bad, just different.) The chef's specials seem to be the way to go, though: the Caribbean was lovely in appearance, and the tastiest of the three. Overall, I'd say we had a good experience. Nothing to drive from Clemson or Greenville for, but if passing through Easley... The price is quite good (we finished at $18), service was polite and efficient, and the food good. One note: the men's bathroom was not the cleanest, although that could have been time of day more than norm. read more

The inside is very dark, but I was interested in the pictures and signs for special sushi rolls and appetizers. The gentleman who answered my call was very nice and greeted me equally as nice when I came in the door. My food looked great. They separated the ginger and wasabi in a small container so it didn't touch my sushi. Awesome. My problem is the sushi rice... the fish and veggies inside were good... the rice has nooo rice vinegar, no flavor, and the seaweed stuck out the top of some pieces and was dry. I want to give this place 3 stars but I just can't from the lack of flavor. They weren't busy so it made no sense why they didn't have fresh seasoned rice. read more

The sushi has always been great when visiting Dozo. One of my favorite appetizers is the tuna tacos. They come with a mango salsa that is delicious! Staff is always very friendly. I have had the hibachi several times that is also very good. Dozo always has new special rolls featured so it's always a must try! The last time I was there I ordered a roll that had kiwi on top with cream cheese and coconut shrimp with a chili sauce drizzled on top. It was wonderful! Our chef was very friendly, and while all the cliched bits were there (onion volcano, egg in the hat, spinning spatulas) there were some new bits, which was frankly refreshing. In addition, I was introduced to a new twist in fried rice - bacon! Only food negative was (and this was surprising to me) was cooking the vegetables in the bacon grease - it was a little over the top, and didn't sit so well with me. The staff was so-so attentive, but friendly when they were there. They kept the water and tea filled, slow on getting plates, and slow getting the bills. Ok, after reading the more recent reviews, I was a little concerned, but then again I have no basis for how good all the reviewers said "it used to be", because I'm one of those visiting "carpet-bagging Yankees" (yes - I've actually been called that down here, especially since I'm descended from a GAR member) from Michigan. Sushi is fresh and they have a unique variety of specialty rolls. The fish tacos are delicious and the taco is a fried wonton. It's light and crispy. I like sitting at the sushi bar, but thé Hibachi chefs are also very talented and entertaining to watch. We have been going to this hibachi restaurant for years. It is the only one we eat at. They add bacon to their fried rice which makes a world of differencei mean bacon need I say more?? We usually get a cook that is an older gentleman and he always remembers what sauces we want and how we want our order. The wait staff always seems to have a high turn over so its the luck of the draw on wether you get a good one or nowt. Luckily the food and cooks more than make up for that.
