TL;DR - cash only for good-sized pupusas with some tasty curtido and condiments. Long line and the menu is inconveniently on the bottom half of their booth, but a worthwhile option at the Portland Saturday Market. ____________________ FOOD/DRINKS -- Pupusa with pork, beans, cheese - so tasty and delicious and melty and satisfying. These are made fresh to order, and it might take them a moment to get it into your hands, but hopefully that's a good sign because they are BUSY. The pupusa and the tomato sauce are also piping HOT, so make sure to grab a few napkins to cushion the plate if you don't have fireproof hands. The only downside is that depending on who plates yours, the curtido portion might be a little skimpy. STAFF One of the girls seemed to be moving at a snail's pace, but we can't all be expeditors, right? The main lady (Dona Lola????) and the other girl were on top of it, though. SPACE/LOCATION They're right in the thick of the Market's row of food stalls. I honestly don't understand how the food stalls are set up at the Market. because there's insufficient room for lines of people waiting to order, for those waiting for their food, and for people to eat. BUT these pupusas are pretty dang good.

Delicious vegetarian pupusas (and many other options)! I was pleasantly surprised after ordering that the pupusas were made to order. It took a little over 5 minutes to make but was well worth the short wait. The owners are super friendly and were even able to make my friend a custom low carb plate. Definitely give them a try when you're at the Saturday market!

A $3 taco at the Portland Saturday Market. They're about the only booth I'd book mark for sure for those visiting. The booth is family run and is cash only. The taco was very good and much better than expected. A true street taco with high quality carne asada pieces and mind you, living in the Bay Area I'm spoiled with pretty good tacos. The kids working were great. Need some extra cilantro or salsa? They can make it happen. I'd have no problem coming straight to this booth the next time I'm in town for the Saturday market.

each pupusa is handmade to order. you can taste the love

Why doesn't this place have more reviews or pictures? It's really really good food! I am a huge pupusa fan (a fan of the food and the word). Each pupusa is made to order. The pupusa lady grabs some masa de maiz, forms a small tortilla in her hand, stuffs it with pork, cheese and/or beans, then adds a top layer before frying it on the flattop until it reaches a beautiful and crispy goodness! It's topped with the traditional slaw, pico, sour cream and sauce all on the side. I'm already dreaming about more pupusas....

Pupusa with beans, queso fresco, and carnitas, the ultimate yum!

One day I didn't budget my time properly so I was looking for lunch that wasn't fast food that I…read morecould eat in the car. Fish and chips to the rescue. I got the cod. It had a panko crust which sometimes I prefer to batter. They were a little bit salty for my taste but ever since I got COVID lots of things have tasted salty so take that with a grain of salt I'm not a tartar sauce guy but this is some great sauce. I feel like later I got a piece of tarragon(?) out of my teeth and reminded me of the herby yummy sauce. I scoffed at first at the chips. Very non uniformly cut but surprisingly all well cooked. I don't know if it's they type of potato but the skin was really off putting. But solid toothsome chips that a splash of vinegar helps a lot. If I end up in a similar position again I'll definitely consider coming back.

I came after a review I read on Eater for FoPo area eats. I'm not a huge fried food fan but this place was good. I got the Steelhead trout fish and chips. Wait was ok they give you a buzzer so you can stroll around the food court. Took about 10 mins not bad. The locally sourced steelhead was a delicious surprise. Tender, juicy fish with crispy breading. Good seasoning. Fries were thicker so not as crispy but still hearty. 3 medium sized pieces of fish. They included ketchup for the fries as well as malt vinegar and tartar sauce for authentic fish dip. Wedge of lemon, too! All in a earth-friendly cardboard box. They take credit just fine. Very convenient location at Carts on Foster just down the street from where I was staying. So I walked back and enjoyed there. If you're staying you could probably cruise over to any local breweries or the bar cart for a beer to complement the fried food. Good time!!!
