I see Dr Carolyn Hall and Dr. Pugh at this practice. They are really excellent doctors and are in high demand. I have been seen in the past 2 years for prescription glasses at 2 other practices and I was really dissatisfied because my eyesight was not where I thought it should be. I waited 6 months to see Dr Hall and find out my cataracts had progressed to the point that my vision was being significantly affected and they needed to be removed. Seriously, I was having significant difficulty seeing. Dr Hall is excellent and I trust her completely. She referred me to the eye Surgeon Dr. Pugh and who took his time examining my eyes and explaining everything to me. I had the cataracts removed from both eyes. I'm about 2 weeks past the surgeries and my vision is excellent. Pain control and sedation were excellent. I highly recommend this practice. There have been several complaints about how long the wait is when you are in the office. I really haven't experienced that. The main thing I wanted was my vision to be improved and it is. Dr Black Eye Associates... danger!!!! I am a disabled senior citizen and Doctor Curtis Jordan butchered me....he performed cataract surgery on me without anesthesia... it was the most painful experience of my entire life. Made an appointment as a new patient and arrived early as they requested. After sitting for over one hour in the lobby, I checked to see how much longer it would be - and the lady responded she didn't know - they were waiting for a room to open up. At that point - I left. We had an appointment at 1:15 and was greeted with sarcasm and a rude attitude. While waiting to be seen, we saw people getting seen faster than as they entered later than we arrived. We waited for 1 hour and no one ever called our name. We noticed a group of nurses in the front and another group in the back fanning away and stari ng onev their shoulder with rude looks on their faces as if they were gossiping. Eventually, we left the new albany office unsatisfied. I can't believe how unprofessional they are at this location. Other Dr. Black's Eye Associate locations are good though. Just be aware of your surroundings at the new albaby location. The office is small and many people hacking and coughing (nowhere to escape it except the bathroom). Dr Dankovich literally saved my eye. I was taking off my makeup 2 nights ago with a cotton ball and somehow got a tiny piece of something in my eye. It was so painful. I could barely sleep and my eye hurt to be open, shut or to be blinking. Dr. Dankovich numbed my eye in the office and plucked that tiny foreign body right out. of my cornea. He put me in a bandage contact for a day too. I'm back to normal now. I am so grateful! He is fantastic and the staff is also wonderful! I highly recommend him!!! read more

I was here a month ago for my yearly visit and had to wait an hour past my appointment to be seen, thought it was an isolated incident gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was the end of the year, my fitting appointment was at 1015 am today, i got here at 1005am, it's now 1045am and i still haven't been seen, sitting here typing away seething in anger, your time is not important to them, they dgaf Edit 01/11/2020: No one ever reached out to me to correct the issue like the woman below commented on. Also, turns out I was waiting so long that day because they scheduled me for another exam instead of a glasses/contact fitting. And when I asked the receptionist what was taking so long because I just needed contacts, she got an attitude and said something to the affect of, "well this is how you get contacts." So I got back into the room eventually and told the nurse wtf is going on? why are you giving me another exam. Then they scrammbled around, threw some trial contacts at me then made my fcking pay for the half of an exam that they gave me. Then the guy at checkout was rude af, because I guess he thought my insurance didn't give me a credit for contacts when it did. Then he looked it up saw I was right, then just gave me an 800 number to call to order contacts. Also, the first time i visited they really want to upsell you lasik, fyi. Once they knew I had it before, after my 2 hour wait that's mostly what the optometrist wanted to talk to me about,. I have a new doctor now that isn't sh%t but they still constantly text me that I've overdue for an appointment even though I always reply stop. Also it comes from a spamming hotmail address type thing not an actual number. To Jess P: I'm not wasting any more of my time to call your office to haggle with a manger so that you can do your job. I replied stop to every text and I shouldn't have to call a manager to be removed from the list. Also, I want my 45 dollars back from when I was charged for that start of a second exam. I mean I made a pretty big deal about it when it happened so your office should remember me. Unless it's commonplace for that to happen I had to actually stop the eye exam and get really vocal because no one would listen to me otherwise. Thought the practice was alright. I have to agree with previous reviewers that indicate that our time is not respected there. I was left alone for about 30-40 minutes in a freezing room before anyone ever came to work on me. Super frustrating. read more

I went to the Lyndon Lane location back in October. I was a new patient and chose Dr. Black's because they took my insurance. I previously used to go somewhere else for eye exams that I really liked and only switched to see if I could save some money by using my insurance. Big mistake. Somehow this place ended up being even more expensive than me paying out of pocket at the place I liked. Like, waaaaaaay more expensive. They charged me $146 for a new patient exam, $45 for contact lens fitting and $30 for refraction. My grand total being $221 before insurance. My insurance covered about $61. Not to mention, they had me waiting so long before my appointment even began (and again during my appointment) that I didn't have any time left to get glasses, which was my sole purpose in making an appointment. I also didn't get contacts. I will be ordering all of that online now because I will not set foot in this place ever again. The staff and doctors seemed satisfactory I suppose, but frankly not impressive enough to warrant the price tag and the wait time. Seriously, don't waste your time and money. NOT WORTH IT. read more

This business does not treat their patients with respect. Appointment times are pointless. The last 3 times took over an hour before I was taken back for the preliminary work. Then it took over an hour for the doctor to get around to me on the examining room. I wish the doctors at this place respected the patients as much as they expect from us. The WORST experience in a medical office. I returned their phone call last week and the lady the phone was huffy and puffy that I was bothering her and said it was prob just an appt confirmation so when I asked if she could confirm the time she was really annoyed and said it would be a minute because she had to walk all the way in the back office?!! She was so rude I just hung up. When I arrived for my daughters 8:AM appt was told that they implemented a new $30 contact fitting fee in April. Just one month ago. I didn't have the $ and I informed them of this and that I didn't know and wasn't informed of the new fee when I made my appt. She told me they could send me a bill. Ok, not a problem. My daughters appt was at 8:00, we didn't even see the optometrist until 9:45!!! At this point I was a little annoyed but the optometrist apologized and I was over it. Then came the time to pay and leave. I have never been so humiliated and disrespected. Again was told about the $30 fitting fee. I again informed them I was not aware of the fee and just didn't have the cash with me, & the lady who signed me in said they would just bill me. BTW, I pay for everything with cash. I don't even carry a bank card. This rude woman made such an issue and embarrassed me in front of the other pts checking out. Told me this wasn't office policy and I needed to pay for it that day and they don't inform pts about new billing since it changed all the time. Then looked over at another office associate and said we need to discuss what we tell these pts about being billed during check in. Loud and obnoxious. Was so embarrassed but also comical. I've never seen anyone get their panties in such a bunch over $30. I will NEVER go back to this office again. I really wish they would have refused to see us at check in so we wouldn't have had to wait for almost 2 hrs just to see the optometrist. read more

Terrible place with terrible service... Appointments mean they will see sometime in the next hour after your appointed time. And when they do finally see you, they will forget everything about you from last time, example: my dads eye doctor, asked my dad if he had trouble seeing out of his right eye.. My dad has been in a wheelchair for 13 years and has been blind in his right eye since.... These people can't even remember if your blind or not! Go somewhere else and save yourself the time and money. read more
