My family ate here for lunch and it ended up being around $25 to get a 1/3 lb angus burger, a foot long Italian sausage sub, a bag of garlic Rosemary fries, and a medium order of coleslaw. The Italian sausage was delicious and I really liked their coleslaw because it wasn't really creamy and it had a nice tang to it. My experience here was bad. I called an order in for to go in a weeknight. There was an accident on 43 so getting there took longer than anticipated. Stilll, the food wasn't ready. I ordered a dipped beef with NO peppers yet my sandwich was still VERY spicy! This should not be. They obviously dip the sandwiches after they put the peppers on and dip everything in the same gravy. Italian beef amateurs. If you don't like heat don't get an Italian beef here. Also, while they try to duplicate Al's fresh-cut french fries, they don't come close to what Al's serves. Very bland. What makes Dr. Dawg stand out is that they are serving quality beef to the customers. That in itself earns the higher star rating. At a lot of fast food joints you never really know what you are getting and you are essentially trusting the establishment to provide. There are a number of different ways to doctor (pun intended) up your burger. They are serving 1/3 and 2/3lb burgers. I opted for the 1/3 and side of garlic rosemary fries. The burger was a cheddar bacon burger with sauteed onion and brown mustard. I was pleased with my order though for a moment upon eating my burger I swear I could taste tamales. They do serve them there. That dissipated as I consumed my burger. It was juicy. Somewhere in between medium and medium well. They never stated that it would be anything other than well done. I'm not too picky but i do know some people that are. If they are served any other way other than well it should be noted to the customer (as Jake's does). If there is an option I would also like to know. It was juicy and flavorful. I look forward to trying the other combos i thought of while waiting. The garlic rosemary fries have quite a powerful aromatic. This is the main thing you are smelling when your order is delivered. A mild crisp outside and a flavor that is primarily potato and rosemary. The garlic wasn't really coming through as I wanted. Either way this is the no-brainer when it comes to fries! I did try a mouthful of the green river soda. I can't review this really. It's like carbonated engine coolant. I see where the extremely vibrant color may be a draw to the younger diner. The flavor isn't even something I can describe but I can say that it is overwhelming. This is entirely subjective and does not reflect in the overall rating. The customer service is excellent. From the young lady behind the counter to the gentleman that brought me my food. Friendly, courteous and professional. Not too professional... but I think the guy hired some pretty good staff from what i experienced. In this business that's a rather difficult feat. Kudos on that. There are a variety of other options on the menu. Italian beef, "Sassage" (I lol'd thinking of the Superfans SNL skit), Tamales, A variety of dog options and a bevy of beers that should keep you content. Don't just think MGD. My buddy enjoyed a Flying Dog IPA with his dog. Good choice Since it's in a lot you'll find plenty of parking. If you are coming to this location for the first time you'll see that it's easily spotted from the freeway prior to the good hope exit if you are coming from downtown heading north.. Two right turns and you're there. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. You should really take the time to check this out. Hello and good evening. I am making a complaint in regards to the services I received at this restaurant. I will be making contact with Marquette university as it relates to what took place at this location. My guest were buying food, I needed to use the bathroom. The manger spoke disrespectful with my passengers. The passengers shared she was rude and out of line with how they spoke to them. I took it upon myself to introduce myself although she abruptly interrupted as I was sharing why I went in to use the bathroom. She said how dare you come in this store and not order, I asked to speak to a manger she said she was. She went on to share that there was a sign outside hat said if you are not buying you can not use the bathroom. What she failed to acknowledge is my passengers bought food. Her tone of voice was not welcoming and very rude. I work within the community as a AODA therapist working with vulnerable populations and to receive the treatment I did at this location was extremely unprofessional. She hung up the phone on me before I could ask for the owners name. So as of today I will be reaching out to the owners to make sure customers do not get treated this way. read more

Revised review now increased to 5 stars I have tried the Nieman ranch beef burgers, and the recently added wagyu beef hotdogs. That's right... Wagyu Beef, more on that in a bit. The Nieman ranch burgers are delicious, they are juicy and have a rich taste to it. Several of my friends and myself will say that these are better then Five guys (which is already an outstanding burger) at about the same price. Now onto the wagyu beef hotdog. I know some people will tell me that the wagyu breed is not exactly kobe beef, or ask how can it translate to a hotdog, and other concerns. I was curious myself about it so I ordered a regular vienna beef hotdog and the wagyu beef to compare them, and form my opinion based just on the comparison. The first difference, the wagyu hotdog is bigger then the regular dog, by 20%. So don't worry, you're not paying more for a smaller hotdog. Second, I can say that the wagyu dog has a much deeper and savory beef taste to it. Now keep in mind, I am not saying the vienna hotdog is bad, in actuality it is very delicious, but the wagyu hotdog is better, and the several dollars you pay in addition is definitely justified. After trying multiple items on the menu, and looking at the other offerings, it seems the owner really makes it a point in having high quality ingredients where other lesser restaurants would cut corners; it certainly reflects in how good the food is. Customer Service: The service is always really good. Sometimes they're a little on the slower side but everyone is exceedingly friendly & courteous. Really can't ask for much more. Hot Dogs: The hot dogs overall are pretty good. I'd say the plain old dog with grilled onions & mustard is my favorite choice. The Chicago and Chili/Chili Cheese are pretty good. The one Kobe dog I had was very flavorful but a bit overcooked - dry. The Cheese Dog is just kinda blah... Garlic-Rosemary Fries The much talked about garlic-rosemary fries were just alright. For the price, they really aren't anything special. I guess they'd be worth a try but again, a bit expensive for what you get. The Italian Beef: This is my biggest disappointment. I keep ordering it hoping it will improve but it's overall lacking in flavor. I can't speak to the desserts or the hamburgers but both look pretty tasty. After all of this, I do like Dr. Dawg. Much more than a Hot Dog place! I have been here a couple of times now. The rosemary garlic fries are fantastic -- as are the regular fries with fresh cut potatoes. I had the burger for the first time tonight and it is as good as advertised...I definitely suggest getting it with the Dawg Sauce and caramelized onions. The kids were happy to have the option of Sprecher Root Beer available on the fountain soda stand. But the highlight to me has to be the fact that I can wash down the excellent food with a Dawg Bite Ale -- made by Sprecher. Love that I can get such a good draft beer at a semi-fast food joint!! I want to give Dr. Dawg more stars! The cheese fries are yummy and the Chicago style hot dog seems to be just like the real thing, as far as I could tell. But here's the rub... some months ago, pregnant with twins, I got a craving for a really good burger. I asked people's advice in the office and Dr. Dawg it was! When I called to order the burger, I explained that I needed it well-done as my doctor said any meat I ate had to be thoroughly cooked; no pink inside. (Plus, I like them well done anyway.) After getting back to my office, I anxiously took that first bite... it was terrific! "Yay!" I thought. But, before even getting to the middle of the burger, suddenly the patty was not just pink, but that really rare color - dark red. Pulling the thing apart, I realized most of it was rare. So today, a bunch of folks in the office were ordering from here; I decided last time must have been a fluke. There were large TV's with sport channels on but it did not overwhelm the place. Service: you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Since it was our first time and the menu needed our attention, we sat first to contemplate our options, folks were average in their customer service. Food: Yes, the burger was very good. I ordered a blue cheese and bacon burger. It had an awesome smokey favor, I wished I had ordered the larger size because I did not want it to end. You build your own burger with all the options. Nana ordered the chicken sausage and reported it was good, but would probably not order it again. One kid got the meal that included the rosemary garlic fries and a drink. I raised her well food wise and she was longing for stronger flavor in the fries but it might be enough for the average palate. The rest of us had water and split a bag of fries. Fries were just okay. Cost: here is why I did not give a higher rating. The burgers were good, yes. But we ordered 2 burgers, one burger with the fries/drink combo and one sausage (rest had water). What a fun place! And what a nice patio for COVID-safe lunching. I was shopping at Pick 'N Save, had the dog in the car, and both of us were hungry. We shared two Chicago hot dogs--no onions, no hot peppers--and they were delicious. This is a really cool new hot dog based restaurant in the Glendale market at Green Tree and Port Washington Road where the Blockbuster closed. I've been watching the construction on this all summer and it felt like it was going to take forever for them to open and they finally did. It's hard to call them a hot dog restaurant even with the name and that being their specialty so I'm going to characterize them in the sandwich category. The subtitle under their name is Unforgettable, Afordable Gourmet Sandwiches. I tried three things on my first visit and all three were exceptional. So while it's hard for me to give a fast food type restaurant 5 stars I can't find any reason to take any away. I had the Chili Dawg, which is a Vienna 100% beef served on a wonderfully fresh poppy seed bun with a very tasty no bean chili. I also tried one of their Spicy Pork Tamales which was equally as good. On a future visit I will have to try their Chili and Tamale boat which is two of their tamale's with chili on top. What stole my palate on this first trip of many was the Garlic-Rosemary french fries!! hand cut fresh french fries cooked to perfection. You can get refular fries as well but the Garlic-Rosemary witha touch of butter was exceptional!! On their menu their chiliFries and Cheese Fries are sold as a 2lb serving. The Chicago dog tastes like a Chicago-style hot dog. The chili dog tastes like you would expect it to taste. However, there are two things that stand out at Dr. Dawg that earned it an extra star in my book; The Green River soda from the fountain and the garlic rosemary fries. The fries are basically tossed in minced garlic and chopped rosemary. They are simply amazing. For me, these fries are the main course and the hot dog is the side.
