The providers are fine but the admin is rough. I had an insurance change and was supposed to be given a refund because I was retroactively covered by Medicaid/masshealth. Spent weeks going back and forth with the desk to no avail. Was finally told it was submitted to masshealth and I should hear back in a few weeks about it but never did. Was told a manager would handle it but radio silence. Six months later come in for my cleaning and was told my online appointment that I booked was double booked despite that I received a confirmation. They said the "system just lets you do that" I then tried to explain the refund situation and was told there were no managers and they don't take Medicaid. When I explained MassHealth (which is Medicaid) they said they'd email the managers (???? I thought there were none). When I asked for the name they refused to give one, saying they didn't know who would be handling my case. Then who are you emailing? I'll probably have to report to the state which isn't good for anyone but I just need my money back. read more

Terrible place. The staff sucks. They will have you waiting for 45 minutes past the time ur appointment is supposed to start. if you come in "early" like they suggest, you will wait for over an hour. Swung by this office because it was across the street from my apartment. I needed a new dentist because I just moved and a wanted to get a regular cleaning. The receptionist was very helpful in helping me get an appointment booked right away! This office is awesome and has late hours, so it made it really easy to find a time that worked for me within 3 days of stopping by to schedule. When I arrived for my appointment, the front office was kind and understanding even though my insurance situation is tricky. The prices are great for out of pocket, and I am grateful for that! The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star review is because I felt like the cleaning was not very thorough compared to my typical cleanings at previous dentists. There was no flossing and a very minimal amount of scraping and polishing. But hey, I guess you get what you pay for! They were friendly and professional nonetheless. read more

They have literally ruined my life, made me not want to be here anymore with the awful, AWFUL work they started on my teeth for partial dentures. Dr. Basher gave me HORSE TEETH for crowns that not only look hideous, but case me pain every time I eat, because I bite my lips with them they are SO big! She never did impressions of my teeth before she pulled them, they look nothing like my original teeth. my canine and incisors are literally bigger than my two front teeth. I want to have tiny little baby teeth. I now have a gigantic horse teeth. And for her to even let me walk out of the office with these crowns, just goes to show what kind of dentist she is. Now trying to get dentures has been next to impossible because they cannot get them to fit or look correct in my mouth now because of the 3 HORSE CROWNS I have. I had four but one broke literally three months after getting it! Dr REFUSED to correct the problem! My wife (Carol) got her tooth pulled today. He (dentist) was in a rush and ignored her when she cried from pain during extraction (he said we will have to stop now if you keep on crying). The doctor was more concerned about kids in waiting room hearing her rather than caring about her pain. No sutures were put in after the pull, no followup appt scheduled to see if there is an infection afterward, no guidance as far as risks of dry socket. Just a short 1/2 page instruction sheet with limited information about post-care. Awful!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!. ALL THEY ARE INTERESTED IN IS TAKING YOUR MONEY. I got my braces put in 4 months ago. Not even 24 hours and one of my brackets came out and I did not eat anything crazy or out the ordinary. I called the office was already closed. The next day was a Sunday, I had to wait for the following business day to go in. When I went in, they were SO BUSY as always. The Orthodontist just simply cut my wire and told me to wait till my next appointment to have someone replace it. YA'LL my next appointment wasn't until TWO MONTHS later which was over 8 WEEKS. By the time that appointment approached other brackets were lose. I complaint and told them that I am suppose to get my braces tighten every 4 to 6 weeks. They APOLOGIZED and stated that that was an error on their behalf and it would not happen again. My SECOND TIME getting my braces tighten, when I went in the orthodontist realized that they haven't been putting a bracket on my tooth with a crown and stated that they never had the correct glue and they will start putting a bracket on as of today. Two days later another bracket came off on the bottom end tooth. Now I Go in today and they got a new manager HILARY who was IMPOLITE and LACKED EDUCATION on Orthodontic treatments and dental services. After my appointment today, HILARY told me that I had to pay $25 to replace a bracket on the same tooth that is always coming off. I told her it is evident that the bracket is not being placed currently and I have been complaining about it in my previous visit. HILARY told me then I need to speak with the Doctor. I told her then can I go back and speak with him she said NO NEXT TIME but I have to pay Today!!I TOLD HER THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!! And I was not told about paying for replacing brackets in the beginning. HILARY Said " OH WELL, IT's on Page 2 Of YOUR CONTRACT". Staff/hygienists were kind and got me in quickly for first visit but the dentist left a lot to be desired. I was pregnant and going for first cleaning, he seemed annoyed I didn't want XRays of teeth because of pregnancy then he spent about 6 minutes cleaning my teeth. I was there for a total of ten minutes and then was charged for both diagnostic and preventative care at $138 and $139 each. Tried to call the office but their mailbox is full?? At Dr. Dental in Jamaica Plain, I received excellent service from Norvia, the Administrative Assistant to Dr. Vij, the dentist. The dental office is large enough to treat six patients at once. The office is open from 8am-8pm, so they are flexible with scheduling. Whenever I needed an appointment, they were available to accomodate me. Norvia, the Administrative Assistant is kind and courteous. When I came to the office without my credit card, Norvia explained the company policy and scheduled me for an appointment two days later. The good thing... they are open on Saturdays, they are affordable, parking adequate, pleasant staff, initially...once you make an appointment they go full on guerrilla tactic, unleashing several text message reminders and numerous confirmations, once you're in the office it's business as usual, usually only one or (on a good day) two overworked and overwhelmed dentists, who have no time for pleasantries, This is my issue ...my last visit there was sub par and this is a warning to you about their survey,as well My mistake was I responded to the "How are we doing survey" and told the truth, my insurance was charged for a cleaning I only received half of, so I mentioned it in THEIR survey, fast forward I call the dental office about proceeding with my dental plan, I and my calls go to voicemail, I leave a message I receive no call back, I won't bore you with the following attempts but 3 weeks went by no call back no voice contact so I wonder are they deliberately avoiding my calls, Nawh no professional office does that, so to reassure my thoughts are off base I call the dental office from a different phone, they answer, welp I got my answer, why you might ask l, could find only one conclusion, I think off-base (but accurate) the staff and possibly even the dentist is retaliating for my truthful survey response, in response they took evading my calls and mis directing me about their insurance protocol for other work their behavior was not only un-empathetic it was patronizing, what's even more infuriating there literally is no avenue for recourse no headquarters , no complaints line they literally have carte blanc to practice passive aggression and unprofessionalism to gate keep and cherry pick patients based on your response to their farce of a survey and to boot they charge your insurance for work that is literally and honestly incomplete. read more

I used to love coming here, the great receptionists left and they have a new regional manager. All of the front end staff is awful. I came in because they made a mistake on one of my teeth and it was the second return to correct it. I called ahead to say i would be less than 10 minutes late for my 11:00 appointment. Their policy allows you to be late under 15 minutes. I arrived at 11:05 and was waiting alone for 5 minutes until their new receptionist showed up after a dental assistant noticed me. I was taken to a chair and after 45 minutes the dentist still had not showed. I asked the receptionist what was going on after 30 minutes and said I shouldn't have to wait this long. She then stared me in the eyes to yell at me that I was late myself, shaking her head like I did something wrong. I reiterated I called and your policy says I have extra time to get here, not that it ever meant i'd be waiting almost an hour to be seen. I asked for the district managers contact info and she handed me the new regional managers name only on a card. No other contact info. I will never be coming back here. I have going to Dr. Dental for over 5 years and never had an issue. My husband had an appointment and had an unpleasant experience. The appointment was for 3:30pm and he had 4 text messages from them to prove it. Yet yesterday he was called by the receptionist at 3:15pm stating he never made it to his 3pm appointment. I Advised her that the text messages he received was for 3:30pm. He was already on his way. That is definitely an issue, because they have a new policy if you miss your appointment you will not b seen for one month. When he arrived he stated that the receptionist Ashley was rude and did not try to hide her mood of clearly not wanting to be there. During his cleaning with the the Dentist he felt rushed and said that the MD could have done a better job. The hygienist Asia delivered poor service. She polished his teeth and she did not offer mouth wash or water to rinse his mouth. He left the office with polish and blood residue from the cleaning. He was so disappointed that he said he will not be going back. The last appointment was not the best, but it was not this bad. They have a lot of turnovers from the receptionist, Hygienist and Dentist as well that is contributing to the poor service provided. read more

t have gum recession that's been progressing for years, and at the place I'd been going to, the hygienist just kept telling me to brush more gently (not helpful). After finding out my gum recession could be due to my clenching. I decided to come here to have a night guard made since it would save some money. Before they took the impressions, Dr. Talati not only demonstrated for me exactly how I should be brushing to spare my gums, but she helped me understand other things that could be causing my recession (like whitening) and answered all my questions. I live in the area and went in for a dental cleaning and exam. I don't expect much from dental offices except respect for patients and a professional work ethic. All of this the office lacked. The doctor (Dr. Chou?) was extremely demeaning, rushed through my treatment plan (I am still confused about what is going on), told me to instead go to another dentist (his words echoed those of another incompetent dentist at Dr. Dental in Springfield) and simply walked out after the cleaning (what happened to, thank you or goodbye?). My dental cleaning was horrible as well, so much that I will be going for a cleaning elsewhere in a few weeks. It disappoints me that Dr. Dental continuously offers such substandard service. The dental office is located in a section of Jamaica Plain that consists of predominantly lower-middle class Latin@s. This does not justify their negligence when treating their patients. A message for the dentist who saw me this day: the reason why a significant number of your patients have fillings varies. However, before becoming a dentist you should have taken some cultural competency courses and have researched the community you were going to be serving. Had this occurred, maybe, you would not be so insensitive with your patients and acknowledge the ways that class and race shape my community's access to dental care. Will NOT return. read more

My insurance sent me to a few local places in my area including Atlantic Dental and a few others. This office was the only one to offer appointments sooner than 2 weeks out. I don't know about other people but the dentist isn't on my list of awesome weekend trips so the idea of waiting weeks out for a particular necessary evil is not how I'd like to have plan my weeks. Anywho, Tatiana the receptionist was delightfully pleasant booking my appointment and answered all of my questions. They even accommodated me the morning of when I need to move my appointment later.
