I called to set up an appointment, and she didn't even bother to verify my information before telling me that my insurance was no longer accepted, even though I've been a patient here for almost ten years. I was completely baffled when she then suggested I seek other providers. I was very upset and requested a call back from Dr. Brinley. On top of that, the language barrier made it difficult to understand her. Ten minutes later, she called back and it was clear she had been looking at the wrong account and speaking to the wrong person, though she never admitted to her mistake. Only then did she finally confirm my name and date of birth, something she should have done in the first place. Now, I'm seriously considering finding a different office. This situation was unprofessional and frustrating.

My prescription for both glasses and contact lenses are clear, and the Optometrist was professional and patient. No problems. However, when it comes to actually getting glasses, I was less than satisfied with the service and quality. I purchased a pair of sunglasses (frame and lenses) from Vision Designs Optometry and found the lenses to be extremely poor quality compared to lenses made with the same prescription from another business. I paid a fee for hi-index lenses because of the magnitude of my prescription, and expected the lenses be thinner and lighter. It was the complete opposite. Additionally, the lenses made me dizzy even after wearing them for a couple of weeks. I brought this up with Sylvia, the optician, and was met with a dismissive attitude. When I asked if she could check if I indeed received the hi-index lenses, her response was, even before looking, "You did because I entered the order." Sylvia started blaming the thickness of the lenses on the large frame, which I confirmed with 3 other opticians that it made not sense. She then agreed to re-make the lenses and shave off some of the thickness. One week later, I got a call that my new lenses were ready (note the first order took about 2 weeks). When I tried on the new lenses, I did not see a difference in the thickness of the lenses, but rather noticed that all they did was mount the lenses forward in the frame. When I tried them on in the store, it was fine. However, after wearing them for about 20-30 minutes, I become dizzy again. I have completely given up on the pair and they are now just sitting in my drawer because I cannot wear them without feeling dizzy. I even question if the lenses were even re-made or if I just got the same lenses back. I really wanted to support this small business as it is in my community. However, between the poor customer service and quality I will be looking for a new optometry business when it is time for me to renew my prescription and get new glasses.

I hate to leave bad review but I feel this one is well warranted…read more I was referred to Sphinx Optical by my ophthalmologist. I went in with my prescription, and the optometrist recommended high-end prescription transition progressive lenses, the ones that dim depending on ambient light. He went on about the new technology, the best lenses on the market., etc.. He ordered the glasses, and after receiving them I wore them for a couple of weeks until my co-worker at the office started asking me why I was wearing sunglasses at the office, little did I know that the glasses were *extremely* sensitive to even indoor light, and dim very dark. Those glasses cost me about $650 including tax. I understood then why everyone would stare at my eyes while talking to me, because they were unable to see if I was looking at them. I called and expressed my concern to the optometrist, he told me that he has the same exact type of lenses and that he deals with similar situations. Well, it would have been nice for him to tell me *before* I made my decision to buy them, right? So I decided to get an *additional* pair that did not dim, just clear. I figured ok I could use the old ones when I am out in the sun, and the clear ones indoors. I went to try out a new frame, the optometrist decided it was a good idea to re-check my vision, even though I didn't ask for it, and so he did, and according to the computer and my vision test feedback it was decided that my new lenses needed to be stronger, again I didn't ask for this. So I agreed since I was seeing better during the test. The order was placed and I went to pick up the glasses a couple of weeks later. I tried them on at the store and went home. I noticed while I was driving that I was unable to see far away objects clearly, when I got home my neighbor noticed that the frame was very crooked and misaligned (see photos). I called the store to complain and the answer I got by both the receptionist and the optometrist was "Didn't you try them on before you left?" Well yeah I tried them on but I couldn't tell they were crooked, and I was able to see fine at the store since everything was within a few feet away. So I called and a new frame was ordered, after two weeks I receive a call from the receptionist saying that the same frame doesn't exist in that same color, and that another frame can be ordered but I would have to come into the office to try them out. Again to the office? I have done about 8 trips to that office and spent over $1100 for two pairs of glasses neither of which is what I need. All those trips, the money spent, and the time driving back and forth, was all a big waste. I am mot sure what went wrong during this whole process but I will bite the bullet and take my business elsewhere, somewhere where the staff actually listen to customers, don't oversell products, and check the qualify of frames.

We all appreciate Dr. Caleb Tang because he is efficient and personable and really goes the extra mile to do what's best for the patient. I was just there on 8/15/26 and in ONE WEEK a year supply of my medically necessary contact lenses arrived at my front door. This is amazing! My prescription is really high; I'm almost blind. So there have been years in the past (during the pandemic) when it literally took not just weeks but months to get my contacts. But this time with the dream team of Josh, Yami, Kevin, and Dr. Tang I received 720 contact lenses in exactly one week. I truly love it when people make going above and beyond seem like it's just another day at the office. Kudos to Dr. Tang and his team!

First, I was given the wrong prescription for my contacts. I tried them during the one-month trial, and they were drying out the same day. When I asked for a different lens to try, the lady with a lot of tattoos told me she couldn't provide another one unless I paid again, which is BS since they weren't even my prescription. I also had a really difficult time getting ahold of the office. My calls were not answered, my voicemails were not returned, and when I came in person, I still didn't feel like my concerns were taken seriously and they always seem to be doing nothing. The customer service was disappointing, and I was also surprised when I received my glasses without even a case or anything to protect them. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience, and unfortunately, I will not be returning. I would recommend going somewhere else if you're looking for good communication, customer service, and attention to detail.
