I have eaten here and ordered from here a few times. The orders are usually correct, the quality of the food is adequate, and the portions are generous. The realy plus to this place is the fact that they offer a pan Asian cuisine. Chinese, Thai, Japanese are all options and the offerings in each cuisine are varied. None of them make me give 5 stars because, while they don't do them superbly, they do them well. Priced on the high side for the cuisines other than Chinese. I've been to this place a couple of times with different people and ordered some sushi for a party for appetizers once. Everybody loves the food so i was wondering why it doesn't have a good rating so i read a bunch of reviews and i can see what they mean but i think they are harsh. The food is the best of this type in the area by far and the menu is huge with all different kinds of foods. I went with a tough eating crowd for a restaurant, a vegan, a vegetarian, a gluten free ciliac, a picky half vegetarian, and one who eats all good food, we all found multiple things we loved. The interior is not great and the service is not personable and not very attentive. long story short, if you want a huge selection of good food come here or order it to go but don't expect a fancy restaurant experience or great service. read more

Have not felt this cheated in a long time. Wish I could get my money back. The summer rolls were filled with nothing but lettuce, they DRENCHED the cucumber salad in dressing which transformed it into cucumber soup with lettuce in it, the sushi rolls had nothing in them but that cheap filler whatever it is. Its not terribly expensive but its definitely not cheap enough to have NO ingredients in the sushi rolls and they were falling apart. The super white tuna nigiri was the only decent thing we reveived which is hard to mess up. Everyone seemed nice enough so I wish the food wasnt such a rip off. Also I was surprised our order was ready so quickly but now I know you can prepare sushi quickly when you arent putting anything in it. Its grocery store sushi at best. We ordered beef and broccoli and it was 90 percent veggies and 10 percent beef. We called to let them know this and ask for a little container of beef to go with our order since the ratio was so far off and after a few minutes of back and forth were told that there wasn't anything they could do. We frequent this establishment often, but we will not be returning. There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants around who don't skimp on the main focus of the entree. read more

who knew? somebody needs to tell me these things.....a little place in a strip mall.....next to a tanning salon....cheap video store.... a papa johns ( shudder ) and an old mexican place that has closed ( goat tacos on sunday will be missed ) and a over priced liquor store....... so i decide to go in, get a take-out menu just to check it out...... holy crap...im staring at a shushi bar.....hmmm ... i say to self.... *self why didnt you know about this place? .. took a sniff.....clean and fresh air..no fishy smell..... ok i have to try this..... check out the menu....chinese AND japanese food along with the sushi.....i love potstickers....but notice gyoza on the menu..... kinda like japanese potstickers...... 4 pan seared little dumplings.....filled with chicken and veggies.... very good... $3.95 a good deal then i hit the sushi menu.....Nigiri..... tataki seared tuna...2 for $3.95....also ikura salmon roe.... again 2 for $3.95 ....... seems to be a thing $3.95 here .who am i to complain?? take em home and chow down...... some soy and wasabi and im making my tummi happy...... sushi i can wok too from my house :-) im a big new fan table seating also..... plus the cool smoothies with the tapicoa pearls in them..... yumm again dragon bowl, i will be back soon :-) read more

Wow. This place has really good sushi--and not even just for Indiana. It's pretty dang good. I'm not sure what sort of ambiance you expect when you want to eat sushi, but for me, I don't really care. If it's good, I'll eat it out of a dumpster. So this place isn't the fanciest of restaurants, but it isn't a hole-in-the-wall either. It's kind of a typical Chinese restaurant that rarely has more than two tables full of people (I really hope it doesn't close!). Lately, I've been only eating sushi at Asian Harbor in Homewood, which is awesome, but sometimes I don't want to drive that far. Dragon Bowl is super convenient, and they deliver too! They DO have a Chinese menu, but I haven't tried anything from it yet. I generally order the same thing every time, substituting in a different "special" roll whenever I go. The crab rangoons are HUGE and delicious--probably the best I've had anywhere. My favorite special rolls are probably the Arizona Summer and Spicy Windy Maki which both have a lot of spice and cilantro, giving them a bit of a southwestern zing. The sweet potato roll is a cheap addition to your meal for $2.95 and these things taste like candy. They're awesome. Don't even bother to put wasabi or soy sauce on them. They're sweet, crunchy, and they come with a sweet sauce that might make them more of a dessert than a savory dish. I've been eating at this place like twice a week. It's just that good and reasonable. I just I hope I don't get mercury poisoning. read more

If you're in Northwest Indiana you're going to have lowered expectations for sushi and probably went to the "big K" for a dinner experience. However, if you just want sushi to take out, Dragon Bowl is the best choice. Good selection, online ordering better preparation and quality. Good shushi in the suburbs??? Well before I went to this place it thought I was only a dream. I have to say that Dragon Bowl has suprisingly good shishi. Of course it's not a five star restaurant, but I am definately a fan and will be goining back. My only negative critique is that the ambiance is lacking. Service - 2 stars. I'm not sure how they were so busy or what they were doing. Maybe they were just short handed. It seemed like a normal / light amount of work and waits were pretty long. We waited for ~10 minutes to be seated and workers walked by us a couple of times. Other things took a little while. It wasn't really terrible, I just couldn't tell why it wasn't prompt. Mango shrimp - Great but not at all what I expected. Presentation was 10/10. The flavor was like coconut shrimp but with mango on the side instead of coconut shavings in the sauce. The shrimp size and texture was perfect. Spicy tuna had great presentation and good flavor. Crazy roll - good flavor and presentation. Salmon sashimi - really good. Plenty large of a piece and sliced thinner. Great flavor and texture, very fresh. Interesting thing - the sign in the window says Chinese & American. Not sure what that is supposed to mean but for the facts it gives it is well disguised. Rice / noodle lovers may go crazy here though. Big selection. read more

My boyfriend and I are new to the area and LOVE sushi (did I mean we absolutely LOVE sushi??). Anyways, this is the only place closest to us that has sushi and we go here ALL THE TIME. We've had good and bad experiences, dine in and dine out. Sushi is great. There dishes are great. I absolutely recommend it. Pricing is fair. Great variety and selection, hands down! Reasons for the one star deduction: - Service can be better (there is a language barrier which I don't mind much... and sometimes they don't acknowledge you right away so you have to wait a bit which can be annoying) - I don't think they understand it when we ask for sriracha - We've had fairly cold sushi before that wasn't suppose to be and odd tasting ones too that may be normal to eat but would probably leave alone, though it's rare that this will happen (note: I've been here at least 20 times and still counting!) because neither my boyfriend and I ever gotten sick, so we're in the clear!! Other than those listed, I would still eat here no matter what because sushi is awesome and they make awesome sushi with tons to choose from!! read more

A bit baffled by this restaurant more than being completely turned off. The following parts of the experience confused me so that I'm not giving this a terribly low star rating nor a high one In fact, if possible, I would give it two and half stars instead of three - *I (wish) I saw the sign ... (the lesser-known Ace of Base classic)- Getting off the freeway and driving into what seemed like a quaint town, we were intrigued by the area. But then the signage on this business made it look abandoned compared to everything else around it in the suburban plaza . My husband and I drove around for a little bit until we realized that this was our intended destination. Because of the tired red awning that once said "Fried Rice Express," the shadow of that former restaurant's wording was on clear display with no trace on the outside of the currently residing "Dragon Bowl." *Don't judge a restaurant by its sign (just as I advise students not to judge a book by its cover) - From first glance when walking into the place, I thought "OK - maybe it was just the outside because the inside actually seems to have it together." With uplighting behind the sushi bar, flat screen TVs playing Chinese dramas and Asian-inspired decor with plants and white screens. However, upon closer inspection, my husband and I slowly became turned off with the random grocery bags of stuff peeking out underneath our booth, the worn down wood benches and the mismatched salt and pepper shakers. *Service with a smile (and a to-go with a touche)- Service was courteous and consistent through our meal, which made ordering easy from such a huge menu that boasted "healthy style" Japanese, Thai and Chinese. However, we were later disappointed when we got the incorrect order for our carryout bag and sadly didn't realize this until we got home. (We ordered the Summer Roll app to go, but instead got some other sushi roll.) Deal breaker or money maker? Eh, in the end, the food didn't completely turn me off so I would be willing to give Dragon Bowl another shot. Our app was the Tuna Tataki, which was rare as it should be BUT swimming in a pool of soy sauce. The Windy City Maki roll was beautifully presented with the carefully laid thin slices of avocado mimicking a fan, but the filling wasn't consistent through out. And the Chicken in Green Curry had a solid kick but was a little odd with the unexpected potato and bit too watery of a sauce altogether. Nice little place. The employees greeted us as soon as we walked in and took us to our table. On the menu is lots of food you'd see on a typical Chinese menu, with some sushi added on there as well. I was in the mood for sushi, so I got the spicy tuna roll and the spicy salmon roll. I also got myself a strawberry smoothie with tapioca. The smoothie was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely decent. As for the sushi, it was ok. I've had much worse and much better sushi in my life. I would have liked the spicy tuna and salmon with just a little bit more of a kick to it. I also have to say that my friends both got fried rice and they said it was good. They gave huge portions of rice for a good price, so if you like fried rice, you may want to order some here. Overall, food is decent - not perfect, but decent, employees seem nice, and service is fast. I'd probably go here again if someone else suggested it and I was in a sushi mood. read more

Well, I have to admit... my favorite spot for Chinese food is Triple Crown in Chicago, but when I can't make the drive - this is where I go. The mongolian beef is great, best in the region. I've had sushi here 3 times, never disappointed. Waiter told me they get their seafood in on Monday's and Thursdays - so if your trying to time the fresh seafood, come on Tuesday and Friday. Overall very pleased with the food at this place, it will be a stop on the way home from work when I have a sushi craving. read more

My favs: Red Dragon Roll House Maki Godzilla Roll anything with tuna I've been here at least a dozen times since I found it and I've yet to have something I don't like. I agree with one of the previous posts though, if you order a meal, what you get with your order seems to be a little inconsistent. Sometimes it's a salad, sometimes an eggroll, sometimes more, sometimes less. Maybe it's the difference between lunch and dinner? I don't know. I do usually have to ask if I want anything other than water, but the service is always friendly. I love Thai food and was dissatisfied with two dishes I ordered the pad see eiu and the Korean crystal noodle both tasted the same. It seems that soy sauce was poured over the dishes and served hot. This is an interesting place. The menu is GIGANTIC, first of all, and almost maddeningly laid out. Trying to separate the Chinese staples from the sushi/Japanese (and don't forget the Thai section) is really difficult! But I gotta say, the reason to go here is the sushi. It's always an 8/10 at least, and considering there's no other place for miles to get sushi, that's a big plus. There's also an extensive appetizer menu. The Chinese food I've ordered from here has been iffy at best. The fried rice that came with my lunch combo was especially subpar. I've had the menu for this place stashed for some time now so last Thursday I decided to give it a go as I had a hankering for some sushi. There's not many options for good sushi in NW Indiana. At least there weren't. The sushi was as good as any I've had. The sashimi tasted very fresh to me. We also had a california roll and a "red snapper nirvana" that I was very pleased with. Prices are definitely reasonable and I'd say better than all the sushi places I've been before. The sashimi combination and california platter are definitely good options to try everything. I will come back here for sure. Place was really empty, I hope they get a lot of business or take out. The service was really excellent...they were definitely aiming to please and came to ask how everything was multiple times. Only recommendation I would make is to maybe get some different hot tea choices besides Lipton....nasty! read more

Yelp helped me find this place, so I'm leaving a review in return. We were visiting family in Illinois/Indiana recently, and we stayed primarily in Lansing, IL with my grandmother. She loves Chinese food, so we had to go at least once during our trip. She has a favourite Chinese restaurant in Lansing, but last time I was in the area and ate there, my experience wasn't great (they switched owners I believe). So, I jumped on Yelp and searched for alternatives. Dragon Bowl popped up, and I think it's pretty new. It's in Munster, but it is the same distance from her house as the other restaurant in Lansing. It made sense. She wasn't too happy at first, since she is very stubborn, but I convinced her to trust Yelp! After our meal was over, she thanked me for suggesting the place and admitted that I was right ;) This place wasn't very busy at all, which was actually very nice. Not a lot of people know that this restaurant is there, since it's kind of hidden away. The service was excellent, prompt, and polite. We pretty much had 3 people waiting on us. They weren't trying to rush us or anything, but just checked on us frequently to make sure we were okay. The food was excellent, and there was a lot of it! I think our dinners were only about $7, and we got an entree, egg roll, rice, and a huge bowl of soup. Everything was in rather large portions, especially the soup! We had no idea we'd get so much food, so we couldn't even finish everything unfortunately. We also had some delicious hot tea with our meals. I checked out lunch prices, and the same entrees during lunchtime are about $5 each. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely stop by during lunch all the time! :) read more

This is not elegant dining but......prices are good while both sushi and non-sushi food are great. The service is.......weird. They seem frantic and lost even if you are the only table in the restaurant and they are slow to serve. Go when you aren't in a hurry. My favorite menu item is the ahi-poki tuna appetizer. My boyfriend and I love sushi, but usually when we want it we have to drive into Chicago. So I was pretty excited when I found this place on Yelp. I think it's accurate to say that when you want sushi, but you don't want to go into the city, Dragon Bowl is a good choice. But first--the service is beyond terrible. We were seated and given glasses of water promptly, but it was about fifteen minutes before anyone paid attention to us again. We put in our order and got it a fairly short time later, but no one came to check on us or refill our water. Come to think of it, they never actually asked us if we wanted anything to drink. It took too long to get the check, too. Most of our time there was spent waiting, rather than eating. We went about an hour before they closed, so maybe that had something to do with it. The sushi was surprisingly good for the region. It wasn't the freshest tasting sushi I've ever had, but it was still quite good. We carry out sushi and dinner from Dragon Bowl probably once a month. The sushi is usually very good and seems very fresh and they have a nice selection of rolls for most people (raw, cooked, etc). My son usually orders from their Thai menu and has enjoyed everything he's eaten. My daughter loves the gyoza. read more

The food is good there as we've ordered from there several times, but the egg rolls continue to get smaller. They are disappointingly small.

We had 2 opportunities to eat at this place. The customer service is poor to say the least. Their is an Asian gentleman who stopped my friend and I today and it was only 8:25pm. He stated that the dinner area closes at 8:30pm and the Carryout closes at 9pm. I showed him my Iphone letting him know that it was only 8:25pm. He did not respond to that and ignored us. Furthermore, this also occurred this past Sunday. The time was 8:20pm when the same Asian gentleman stopped us and said "wi clos now". Don't this place want to serve African Americans/ Latins.
