Teriyaki chicken, sweet and sour chicken, pineapple chicken, and General Tao chicken with fried rice

Great Chinese buffet with lots of dishes at a great price. Place was packed nonstop while we were there. Lots of varieties of chicken. The teriyaki chicken skewers were really tender and by far the best choice. Lots of dessert choices as well. You will definitely leave stuffed.

So many options at Dragon China Buffet in Carlsbad NM-lots of seafood options on Saturday evenings

On a LONG road trip and unsure where to go in Carlsbad, NM for dinner. We just finished a long day hiking at Carlsbad Caverns and we were tired and hungry. Being a smaller town, some of the places close earlier and I'm always a bit careful as to not get sick on the road. Dragon China Buffet had quite a few vehicles every time we passed by so we ended up there. After all a full parking lot generally shows the place to be pretty decent. We were greeted and asked how many in our party, then immediately seated. We came on a Saturday night and they appeared to be quite a bit of seafood. I don't know if that's the norm, but it was very good options for seafood. There was a lot of fried foods but there was also fresh sushi, tasty hot and sour and egg drop soups, traditional favorites & some new ones I had not seen or tried before, fish, crawfish, salt and pepper shrimp, salad, pizza, fresh bread, apple pie, jello, puddings, fruits, desserts, and ice cream. This was actually a pretty safe, tasty, and clean buffet. The bathroom was pretty clean also. They even had complimentary mouthwash. There is something for everyone here and I am glad we gave it a shot. They do far better than the Chinese buffets near us. There is something for everyone. Give it a try.

Not buffet people but we ate here during our visit to the Carlsbad Caverns. Came here around 5:30 pm and was seated right away. It got busier as we ate, with all the tables near us filling up. Food was good and the waitress was very attentive in refilling our drinks and clearing the plates. They have a variety of foods and were refilling the food constantly. There is a soft serve machine for dessert. Dinner was $17.65 pp and beverage was an additional $2.75.

Came in after a long drive and was starving! We got seated quickly and got our drink orders in. This is your typical Chinese buffet. My favorites were the lo mein, crawfish, and green beans. Their shrimp dishes were mediocre at best tho. Everything we had tasted fresh and delicious. The place was clean as well. The service was too notch. Plates were removed promptly and drinks were always filled. It cost $44 for the two of us for dinner after tax and tip. Overall, not a bad choice if you're looking for an AYCE.

Lemme just say I don't usually find much to eat at china buffets but I didn't struggle here. So many options, although I don't believe they have any beef they have so many chicken options. Generals chicken was amazing. Sushi was also a hit.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - very typical of a Chinese buffet where the food does lean on the saltier side but options for carbs, beef, pork, chicken, seafood, "sushi", fried food, and some desserts. The food was hot and we saw fresh food put out fairly consistently. Most of the sushi are crab salads (imitation crab with mayo) with one that's more similar to spicy tuna. Crawfish was good but does have an odd seasoning to it. The broccoli beef/chicken was yummy and one of the better dishes. The sweet and sour soup was very spicy from dried red peppers. There is an ice cream machine for dessert but it is more runny. Ambience: 5/5 - multiple TVs along the wall playing different sports games. No music with only minor decorations but clean overall with someone going by the food stations and wiping quite often Service: 5/5 - dedicated staff to each section of the seating. Since we did get an early dinner, at one point, we were the only table on his section so he was there every time we finished a plate or the drink ran low. While his English wasn't the best, he was friendly and very attentive Value for price: 4/5 - all you can eat price of $16.73 which comes out to an even $18 with tax. Great service, clean environment, and decent food

If you're looking to grub on some Chinese fare where quantity and variety matters a bit more over quality, look no further than Dragon China Buffet. At Dragon, you'll find everything from orange chicken to crawfish to pizza and wings to egg rolls with sushi, fruit, and soft serve abound. As they are likely blasting these out constantly in the back, any near empty trays are quickly filled. Food will be a bit greasy or doused in a high fructose sauce but it'll leave you satiated, especially if you're in the area for work or a national park hikes. Service is great for a buffet. It's a pretty laid back ambience. Parking lot attached

The food at this buffet was beyond expectations. Fresh food and great quality for a Chinese buffet. They changed our food and added new pans before things were empty so it always looked fresh and new. The service was awesome because each area had a dedicated waitstaff who would refill your water or help you with any needs. The price is a little above what I am used to, but it's reasonable for the variety, quality, and service. They have sushi, stir fry, desserts, soups, and a lot of seafood and regular options. It was pretty clean and each area had large TV screens also. They are also fairly busy around dinner time. I recommend parking close to the entrance because people were walking all over the parking lot and I noticed someone dumpster diving in the trash can nearby. I was impressed that after tax and tip, the total came out to a whole number. Kudos to excellent rounding.

The Dragon China Buffet in Carlsbad, NM, is yet another place from the Caverns land of which I am jealous. This the perfect place to meet up for lunch during the weekday. The friendly staff members are constantly moving and checking on things. They keep the place mostly clean including the women's restroom. On 10/19/2022, there was a wide variety of Chinese cuisine options - even a sushi area that I didn't try, but also some items for my picky 8-year-old like pizza and mac n cheese. Sweet tea was available to drink - and it didn't taste like fake sweetener & old. Lol. Added bonus: There is self-serve ice cream to grab before you head out the door!

    Lo mein noodles

Wow, was pleasantly surprised with this Chinese buffet. Everything was fresh, even at an oddball time (around 3:30). They continued to bring fresh pan after fresh pan of hot, tasty Chinese food. All of it was delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and moved very quickly. We very much enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was very clean as well.

Not a very good variety. The fried rice is yellow and flavorless. Not the best buffet. The best part was the pizza and root beer

Pretty typical for a Chinese buffet. Nothing was especially great, not too much was especially bad. I always love the sugar donut things!

Disclaimer: The restaurant I tried from this restaurant is not what I'd considered "authentic" as some other Yelp users have stated. It's some version that suits the local palette. Service: The service was great. The host/server seated us right away, came by to take our order when we were ready, and proceeded to check in periodically to make sure our meal was okay. Ambiance: The restaurant is pretty big, with plenty of seating available. Food: Like I mentioned, the food isn't "authentic", but it's as authentic as you can get in West Texas! The food was still good! By husband and I ordered The xiao long bao (pictured). The dumplings did not have a thin wrap or soup inside. Quite the contrary of what makes a xiao long bao what it is, but the dumpling itself was still flavored well, and delicious. It tastes like a regular dumpling cosplaying as a xiao long bao. For the entree, my husband and I shared the chicken stir fry noodle. The noodle was really good and the portions were HUGE. I'm glad we both shared an entree because we didn't have any means to take away leftovers!

My husband was happy with his Szechwan chicken and I went for the vegan bowl. My vegan ramen bowl was good, but it needed more veggies and tofu and it lacked spice. Service was good and honestly in an area where a lot of food leans bland, this place stands out a bit. But here is where it lost me. It is not authentic and does not really try to be. My veggie egg rolls had that unmistakable frozen straight from the box vibe. One bite and yeah... confirmed. The hot tea came in a gas station style cup with a Walmart tea bag. It was big, sure, but not exactly restaurant level. Would I come back? If I was starving, yes. Otherwise I tried it once and I am good.
