A steady decline has been happening with this location for years. New name and ownership aside, prices have gone up, food has remained much the same and service has declined dramatically. No acknowledgement upon arrival, painfully slow service. Warm beer. Our order arrived very late, after 3 or 4 other tables who arrived after we did, and all at once. We were also overcharged for items we didn't order. I really hope they can get it together, the people here seem genuinely nice, if not disorganized. read more

This is my favorite Chinese place in town! We recently found it last week and have already been back twice since. The staff was super friendly and attentive. It was very kid friendly. My husband for the Mongolian beef lunch special and he has been dreaming of it ever since. I ventured out and tried something new, the cashew chicken, and it was amazing! We also had the cheese puff, which were so good. Two days later we had a taste for it again and we ordered to go. The food was just as yummy and the portions were even bigger! read more

Napa is not known for its Chinese food, this place is one of the reasons why this is the case. We were looking for some decent food and also had requests to avoid gluten and to make the food vegetarian. Although the waitress was aware of this kind of a request, the issue got lost in the translation. Or it was just ignored. The food was saltier than expected. The soup was made with chicken broth, and the service was the worst part. We felt ignored and maybe she was angry that we has asked for accommodations to our needs. Long delays, walked past by us without a glance or to ask for anything. Getting the bill was not easy. Had to walk to the counter to pay as she would not come back with the check. But wait theres more.... when it came time to pay we were being charged for a party of 6(15%)when it was only 4 adults and 1 child. Fresh, tasty food. A little expensive compared to other restaurants, but I was satisfied. The new owners have done a good job cleaning up and improving the place. Parking lot was packed and the phone was ringing off the hook. The service was a little spotty, but they were busy. We are regulars. Ate here on Christmas eve, it is about the only place in Napa open and it was packed! Service is typically fast and food is hot and good. They were so busy that the service was a little slower than normal and did have a little mixup on what we ordered but they corrected and brought out the right plate. Ordered honey walnut prawns, shrimp with vegetables, pot stickers, orange chicken and sesame chicken. All very good and fresh. Clean environment and really yummy food. Great price especially for the amount of food you receive. Comparable to other similar restaurants. The service was wonderful. We always come here for the chicken fried rice, chicken chow mien, orange chicken, and on rainy days the wonton soup. Orange chicken is my favorite, outside breading is always crispy and sauce is super flavorful. This place was, as far as my experience goea ------ horrible. Only one redeeming factor was that alot of work has gone into renovations. The dining room is lit up nicely. Tables arranged nicely. Thats it. The serivce was almost nonexixtant. We were seated in a timely manner. But after that --- not so much. Finally some water was brought to us. We had a question or 2 regarding the meals and what exactly was included in a meal. The waiter was nearly impossible to understand. We did decipher that rice and eggrolls came with the dinner. We asked if barbeque shortribs could be ordered aside from them being part of another platter, and mentioned nowhere else on the menu. Again, communication problems. We wanted a spare ribs dinner. Which wee were assuming included the rice and eggrolls. We also ordered calimari as an appetizer, along with sesame chicken. We were brought 4 ribs, not spare ribs, not barbequed. Tough, fatty and chewy. We were given 1 knife between us. The knife was necessary to cut these big, tough and fatty ribs. VERY SALTY! The calimari was cut in uniform pieces. Never have I eaten calimari that was cut this way. After removing the breading, which was quite thick, The pieces were flat pieces that were cut in such a way so as to roll up. Very fishy and wierd. The sesame Chicken was good at first. Then after a while the sauce became kind of thick and coated the inside of my mouth. VERY SALTY. We ordered 2 dinners. No Rice, No eggrolls. We asked for some cocktail sauce for the calimari. We were brought a very small little saucer filled with some very dark, thick, mouth coating odd tasting substance. definitely not the kind of sauce served with calimari. I found it odd to find calimari on a Chinese menu. So---- maybe plum Sauce is the norm for calimari in this setting. Dont know. Dont love it at all. We still received no rice no eggrolls. Really?? We were charged for 3 dinners instead of 2 dinners and an appetizer. The whole thing was a nightmare. I used to go to the Mandarin House all the time. I realize that this new owner is bound to have their own style of presenting their food. But, clearly they should have taken some pointers from the previous owners. I saw no Health Dept rating in the window. The place is clean and nively decorated. Aside from that nothing was worth another star. read more

We went here on Christmas and it was a complete disaster. I started off feeling bad because it was so busy, but they legit forgot about two tables, one of which was ours. We asked several times about our order after seeing people come in after us, order, eat, pay and leave. And when our food finally started to arrive 90 minutes later, they brought our entrees first, soup about 20 minutes later, then the side dishes, and finally the appetizer platter which was fried food that was so cold it seemed like it had been sitting for two hours minutes in the back. It was the most ridiculous dinner ever, we were there for over 3 hours, and it was just the 5 of us (so yes, two starving children and a baby that doesn't fuss about much). Other tables were bringing us food after seeing us ask for our order so many times and nothing coming out. It was horrific. I will never go back there. They were unapologetic, and so rude even after they realized they screwed up. read more

What a rip-off! We ordered take out. Wor wonton soup, garlic chicken and brown rice. There was not enough broth in the soup and the wontons were mushy and fell apart, there was hardly any chicken and what was in it was like rubber and it was mostly vegetables. The brown rice was good but we didn't order 2 but got 2 at $2.00 each so rice cost $6.00 and we didn't realize it until we got home. Needles to say, we won't be going here again. read more

Wonderful food. I usually order take-out, and it is always ready/hot/and carefully packed for transporting. When I have eaten in the restaurant, their service has been prompt and courteous, and the environment clean and enjoyable decor..... and as always, the food delicious. WOW!!! We've been waiting for a good Chinese place in Napa and we're thinking this is the one! This was our first try at Dragon Valley. It looks like a typical Chinese food restaurant inside. Waited 15 minutes before our server even came to the table. We ordered our food and it took an hour just to get the appetizer. They came to our table 3 times trying to give us vegetable chow mien when we ordered chicken. We cancelled the rest of our order and left. Never going back read more

Ordered lunch today for 3 people at work. Ordered sweet and sour prawns with fried rice. I'm not sure what we got but it definitely was not sweet and sour prawns with fried rice. We got some kind of shrimp with vegetables and chow mein. When I called the restaurant back, the lady argued with me and said there's no way it could've got mixed up and we could get a credit for the fried rice. We were so upset with her arguing that we took the food back. She then apologized because (obviously) it wasn't right. She did not offer to compensate our lunches (we only get a half our for lunch, plus we now have made 2 trips). Horrible customer service and the food wasn't that great. The new owners aren't making the food like it used to be, plus arguing with the customer? I don't think so. Definitely will not be back. read more

Went in for lunch, total of 7 patrons (included us), ordered 3 entrees. Service was terrible!!! Walnut shrimp and orange chicken were tasty, never got to taste the third entree, it was delivered as we were finished and getting the check...would have asked about it but our waiter never came by our table. When I questioned the girl who brought the noodles why they are being delivered now, she sent over an older woman who replied that the "chef picks and chooses how and when people receive their food and the servers can not ask because he yells at everyone and won't let them in the kitchen.." She also said they will not fire him because he "knows the menu.." and that Friday night it was, "really bad and everyone in the place was unhappy.." I can't imagine they will last with an abusive chef, terrible service and higher than average prices. We won't go back, $15 for an average portion of food, rice and soup are extra..and terrible service.. with no apology or attempt to make it right..just excuses... read more

it regained the "a " heath rating sept. 6th. so we went again. even better service,which was already good. superb food. i ordered the appetizer of fried shrimp, which was so filling. so big and so many ! i could only handle a few sips of the delicious sweet and sour soup my wife had,along with the rice and chicken she had. she had to take half home. will go again. a good as the scallop meal i reported on before. a hidden gem. no waiting for a table. quick service. delicious food. read more

The new owners have made the environment brighter and cleaner but the service has been horribly slow. We have visited twice in the last month and have experienced very poor service. Even with the restaurant half-full our food took over 30 minutes for a table of four. When the food did arrive it came out at different times - one person at a time with about 5 minutes in between. So we didn't even get to eat together because people were already done by the time the last dish arrived. Having limited options we tried the restaurant again a few weeks later to give it another chance. This time the service was even WORSE. Our table of 8 was told completely ignored for 10 minutes before we had to go up to the front counter to ask for someone to take our order. We were told we would have to wait for our order to be taken for another 10-15 minutes (it was 35 minutes from the time we sat down till we were able to even order). They treated us as though we were bothering them to even be there in the restaurant. All the while phone orders we being taken. We joked that we should just call our order in and go up to the counter. It would have been much faster. Food was cold when it arrived over 30 minutes after ordering. This restaurant DOES not know what they are doing. Very frustrating. Was hoping the aesthetic improvements would lead to a better experience. No such luck. read more
