We have enjoyed this place before but in our most recent order the egg fu young was burnt to a black bitter crisp on one side, making it spit-worthy as I could not eat it. They just covered it with sauce. I would never have let it leave the kitchen unless it was in the compost bin. I'm bummed because I considered this place a rare find of good Chinese food in Napa. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken to-go with fried rice and chow mein. The fried rice and the chow mein were pretty bland and colorless. The Kung Pao was just ok. They tried to make it spicier for me, which I tasted. However the sauce wasn't really my cup-of-tea and there wasn't very much chicken. I had to add hot sauce and soy sauce to the meal, and still wasn't quite satisfied. It's also a little pricey for what you get--even if it is located in Napa. The only pros were that they served my food quickly and it didn't look too dingy inside the restaurant (at least from the lobby). Although the service was ok, I just thought the food was far from good. I went for lunch and ordered off the lunch specials menu. Got my hot and sour soup ( mediocre at best but, it is the lunch special soup) then received my Pork with schezwan sauce. Unknown to me, the pork was not shredded- but fried like in a sweet and sour dish. This means it is not tender and juicy but dry and bread-y) . It came with some onions, a few broccoli pieces , two slices of carrots and 6 whole red chili peppers. The flavor was just not there. It could have been super spicy from the chilies, but, any under laying base flavor was missing. . Quite the disappointment. read more

You can tell the ingredients are fresh, however none of my food had any flair to it. I would almost prefer the greasy cheap flavor of another place. The onion and green pepper in the stirfry type dishes had no brown to it, barely cooked at all, the onion still had its raw flavor. The mongolian beef had zero spice to it, and again the beef was unbrowned, simply wet and cooked. The fried rice, was like steamed rice, quickly tossed in oil with the egg and vegetables. I think you get the gist. When you stir the stir fry too often, you get cooked food without any lovely brown fried color. I should also note that we had to ask for water twice and the waiter woman forgot twice. She remembered maybe 7 or 8 minutes after we had asked the second time. We ordered the family dinner combo and the rice came 5 minutes after the rest of the food, might have been longer. Then another 10 minutes later, maybe longer, our spring rolls we had ordered finally come out, by this time we're nearly full and finishing our plates. Cant remember simple steps of service, forgot to ring in our spring rolls or the kitchen somehow couldnt fry them? I dont know, and dont really care. I would totally go back if the food was kinda tasty, atleast order to-go, but it was not. The 1 star is for the hot and sour soup being pretty good, but YOU GUESSED IT, it wasnt very hot. I was able to devour my first little helping right away, and the pot was nearing lukewarm as I served myself more. edit: You can actually see what I'm talking about in the photos other people have posted. Waited... waited... waited... waited... at least two employees saw us yet no welcome much less acknowledged. 3 tables with a few people at each waiting to be served, one large party in the back, all the rest of the tables empty yet filthy and needing to be cleaned and readied. This was, hands down, the worst restaurant experience we have ever had! We waited two hours for the worst Chinese food ever. Given that it was Christmas we were very patient but there was nothing to redeem the place. The service was shockingly rude and the food that finally arrived was horrible and cold Eggrolls were cabbage in a wonton wrapper dripping oil. The sizzling rice soup consisted of chicken broth, a chopped up stalk of celery, 4 shrimp and 4 very small pieces of chicken. We will never return!!! read more

I have one caveat before I start this review: it was Christmas night, but still this service was absolutely terrible. We were ignored for an hour and a half before finally walking out. We had a waiter's attention maybe twice during that 90 minutes when we were given waters (not that they were ever refilled). I wish I could give 0 stars -- it was poorly managed, poorly staffed, and I wish I could review the food but we didn't even eat. The potstickers here are amazing, and the chow mein is exceptional. Never been to a chinese restaurant that has matched it's quality in those two areas. As for the other food it's good, not amazing, but a quality meal for a quality price, my go to spot and would recommend to anyone. read more

This is my "new" favorite Chinese Restaurant. They take care in preparing your food. You can taste every ingredient. It is not over salted as with other Chinese restaurants. I too overheard a conversation the owner was having with a couple requesting catering. She assisted them in reworking their menu, not solely for cost, but to make sure the flavors would go well with other items planned for the event. She took care with every guest. I had the family egg fu young. The proteins were cooked perfectly. The adding of the bok Choy greens to the dish sent it over the top. The sauce was not over powering and the vegetables blended nicely in every bite. This place was a joy! read more

A steady decline has been happening with this location for years. New name and ownership aside, prices have gone up, food has remained much the same and service has declined dramatically. No acknowledgement upon arrival, painfully slow service. Warm beer. Our order arrived very late, after 3 or 4 other tables who arrived after we did, and all at once. We were also overcharged for items we didn't order. I really hope they can get it together, the people here seem genuinely nice, if not disorganized. read more
