Great sushi! Unassuming place, not too crowded and quick service! Would definitely visit again.

    Saki Bombs
    Napa G.

My go-to sushi spot. Never too busy. Always great service. This time in particular, I think the server saw me taking saki bombs by myself and felt bad for me - next thing I know they had sent out a complimentary appetizer while I waited for my sushi roll. I highly recommend the potsticker roll; especially, if like me, you like to avoid the raw stuff.

Everything was delicious! The service was great! The service was great too, I asked the server which sushi roll to get and his recommendation did not disappoint:)

California roll.. that my niece already dove into!

I took my nieces to lunch and we were warmly greeted by the staff when we walked in. We ordered soup, a California roll, a 49ers roll, a Tiger roll, and mixed tempura. We received our food promptly and the server made sure we knew what each roll was. Everything was fresh and delicious. Our favorite was the 49er roll. This is one of our favorite Napa restaurants to visit for a special lunch or dinner! This lunch was only made more special by a sweet family eating lunch that paid our tab! (If you see this, thanks again! It made our day!)

    Soft Shell Crab

Food was okay. I ordered the crab because I've been craving it for awhile now and was very disappointed:/ Our waitress rushed us and I asked for no dressing on my boyfriend's salad and she was walking away when I asked and went "YA OKAY" and then brought us salad with dressing like??? Aside from that I'm mainly here to complain about the crab. The legs are SO tiny that the breading attempts to make it look bigger than it is. The breading tastes like straight up oil (I get it it's supposed to be fried but good fried food doesn't taste like oil). I was halfway through my Napa Valley Roll when I started feeling sick (maybe from the crab) but I couldn't finish it. My boyfriend got teriyaki chicken and gyoza which he didn't complain about but I'd stay away from fried stuff. Probably won't be coming back bc my brain is permanently altered to never forget the crab

Veggie tempura meal from lunch special
    Julie Z.

I could come here just for the spicy edamame, so salty and smokey delicious. Veggie tempura was crispy and light. Rainbow roll was my favorite because it's a California roll topped with assorted fish (each bite is different). Green tea matcha was a great light dessert to finish off the meal.

I was going to be here last Monday, but things took a turn. I'm finally here in Napa again. I was going to get something completely different that day, then today. But this is what I wanted today, I had sometime to be here so I might as well get some fresh Beef and Vegetable Udon noodle. This is nothing like that instant Myojo Udon at H Mart. I don't need to be a chef to know that other noodle is more clumped, have less bounce, and somewhat brittle. That's like comparing SpaghettiOs, to Bertolli pasta. It's not one in the same. The bowl of noodles arrived scorching hot. The broth reminds me of a slightly less darker Shoyu. A Ginger dipping sauce can somewhat help this dish out. This is what a basic Udon should taste like. This can be very much a 4.1-4.3 stars on a good day, but I give this 4 stars flat.

Service from the host, servers, and bussers went above and beyond. Honestly, couldn't remember what was ordered, but we ordered more than enough. As such, it was extremely noisy and you could see that couples on dates had a hard time even talking to one another, and eventually just stopped. I could barely hear my wife talking next to me. Most of the servers would even have to lean in to hear the orders. As for the food, nothing really stood out. We ordered a large variety as we were a group of 10 eating family style and nothing really stood out. The quality of the food I would say was akin to fast food or mall food court level, but you're paying 3 times as much. The price belied the food quality. For example, 3 small pieces of ribs as an appetizer for more than $30, I'd expect it to be uniquely spiced, flavorful and juicy, but it was rather dry and tasted as like sauce from Panda Express. Their Wagyu beef carpaccio had too many strong flavors so the taste of the beef itself was lost. Heck, it didn't even really have the notable creamy-like texture that wagyu was supposed to have either (likely a lower grade of wagyu, probably somewhere between USDA Choice and Prime). A lot of their items feel gimmicky too: the unagi clay pot came with some seaweed, a seaweed holder, and two small bottles of sauces. The sauces were bland and contributed nothing to the dish. Making your own "hand rolls" with the seaweed did nothing for this dish other than get your hands dirty. I've watched enough Iron Chef back in the day to understand that this is very Morimoto, as he tries to make the dishes fun. The unagi itself was quite nice, though it might be my personal bias. The Halibut we got was overcooked and dry. Yes halibut is a firmer meat, but man this was hard to eat. The best dish was likely the Ishiyaki Buri Bop, which came with some tables idea theatrics. Nevertheless, for the price, you could do much better at a place like Kunjip Tofu in the bay. Overall, a bad experience. Based on the price point, I thought we'd be getting better food and better ambience, but it was overall mediocre - a blemish on the Morimoto name.

Date of Visit: 12/20/2025…read more This was our second visit to Kenzo Napa to celebrate our 4th Anniversary. Last time when we visited was the next day when we got married in Las Vegas! We stayed at Andaz Napa for one night before Christmas to celebrate our Anniversary, and we booked Kenzo Napa for the dinner and it was walkable distance from the hotel. Kenzo Napa was established by Kenzo Tsujimoto in 2016, and received Michelin 1 star in 2018, and every year ever since. The price for Kaiseki is $295 per person, and my husband ordered the Omakase Pairing $197 and I got a bottle of Aoki Shuzo, "Yuki Otoko" Junmai, Niigata $40 to pair with the set. 2021 Suzu First glass of the omakase pairing is the sparking rose. This is made with 54% Malbec, 37% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc, with the smell of strawberry and blood orange. Cauliflower Chawanmushi The first dish is chawanmushi, with ginger, snow crab, etc. 2024 asatsuyu The second glass of the omakase pairing was the Sauvignon Blanc. The name is from Japanese meaning morning dew. Seasonal Hassun The second dish is the seasonal hassun, which is the traditional Japanese appetizer. Five different small dishes including the lotus root dumpling with bottarga, ehime bluefin tuna, shiso leaves rolled angel shrimp, Japanese yam with Italian caviar, and Hokkaido scallop with persimmon with peanuts. Sawahime Yamahai Junmai Third glass of the omakase pairing is the Junmai with the aromas of gardenia, ripe kiwi, papaya, green peppercorn, aged comte cheese. Yamaguchi Tilefish Owan This one is our favorite dish of the day! Very fresh and refreshing, with fish and vegetable and mushroom. Midorikawa Daiginjo The fourth glass of the pairing has a great hint of spice but elegant at the same time. Oita Sea Bream Sashimi The fourth dishes is the sashimi, paired with ponzu sesame shoyu. 2023 yui Rosé This Rosé was made with 65% Malbec, 26% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc. Paired greatly with the next course. Simmered Mie Toro Sawara Mackerel Love the texture of the mackerel. 2021 Asuka Asuka was made with 83% Cabernet Franc, 11.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot. Got 93 points on Wine Enthusiast. Wagyu Tendon and Japanese Taro Croquette This Croquette was made with Japanese taro and wagyu beef. 2020 Rindo And with the next course is the red blend made with 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 23% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc. The wine has great berry aroma and spices. A5 Wagyu Tenderloin Jibuni The seventh course is the A5 wagyu beef steak. Cut into bite sizes, with mushrooms and veggies. Daishichi Minowamon This sake has a strong smell of berry, banana, and pear. Velvety and buttery. Hokkaido Sea Urchin, Ikura and Mediterranean Bluefin Tuna Sushi Bowl served with red miso soup One of my favorite Japanese seafood bowl! Chef's Featured Desserts Three different desserts was great too. It has a goji berry panna cotta and fried spring roll with vanilla ice cream, and also a berry ice cream with caramelized walnut. And on the side there was a warm green tea, making a sweet and perfect ending.

We were also undecided on where to stay hotel wise and when we saw it was at the Meritage, which is great for families, it made sense to book both the hotel and the restaurant. Our daughter just turned four months old, so this was our first date night as new parents and it did not disappoint. For us the convenience of an amazing restaurant on site at a family forward resort was great for peace of mind. We didn't have to go far to have an amazing experience. When we entered Ember the vibes were set. The restaurant is truly stunning and everywhere you look feels like you are observing art. The craft cocktail bar as the center focal point and the tables set up the way they were made for great people watching. It seemed like almost every table was a couple on a date and the energy was definitely upscale and romantic. My husband and I love great food and couldn't help but order almost everything that looked appealing to us. The wagyu nigiri with caviar was mind blowing, so fresh. The oysters were unreal. The tomahawk steak with creamed spinach, and truffle fries did not disappoint. Literally the best steak and sides we've enjoyed in a while. The mushrooms were delicious too. My husband enjoyed his craft cocktail, an Old Fashion and I enjoyed champagne with the starters and a wonderful glass of Grgich cab with the steak. We gave our compliments to the chef who made her appearance tableside, and we enjoyed a wonderful conversation with her. She recommended the baked Alaska, which was made after her grandmother's recipe, and my husband still talks about that dessert to this day. We enjoyed great ambience, impeccable food, and tremendous service. I can't wait to go back to Ember, which says so much because the dining scene is unreal in Napa and there is always something new to try. We will be back!

I made rezzies several weeks ahead and choose their patio (staycation with dogs)...but when we arrived, we were told the patio was closed. It was chewy and bland, lacking the rich, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture and deep umami flavor that makes A5 so distinctive. Unfortunately, Ember seems to be the only steakhouse in Napa that serves A5. If you're down to drive 30 minutes to Benicia, hit up Chiquo & Eva's Wagyu Steakhouse. * Twice Baked Duchess Potato w/ chive foam, sour cream, whipped butter, smoked salt, lardons ($16) If you like hella rich foods...cream on top of cream, you'll love this. * Jumbo Asparagus w/ fresh herb béarnaise ($16) Tender and crisp but more your standard size than jumbo. S E R V I C E Friendly hostess and awesome food runner, Isaac. He was so warm and personable, he should be promoted to a server STAT. Apps came out fast but it felt like a long lag before we received our entrees. We noticed people who arrived after us, received their steaks before we did. I noted it was a "birthday" in the rezzies and nothing was said or done. A M B I A N C E Sultry chic, moody indoor dining area with teal and dark brown tones. IMO, it seems more like a lounge than a steakhouse. Lovely patio overlooking the courtyard but we didn't get to enjoy the view since the shades were down. No restroom onsite which is inconvenient. Overall, I'm genuinely mystified by the 4.5 star rating. Ember felt like the typical overpriced hotel resto trying too hard to be trendy and too extra with their food. Unfortunately, there were simply too many missteps to overlook - esp given the poor quality of some of the ingredients. Unless you're dining on an expense account or have a sugar daddy/mama...spend your hard earned money elsewhere!
