Decided to get take out this past Tues for the first time since before covid. Ordered off the Individual Combo menu; Gen Tsao's chicken with chow mein, and Sweet & Sour shrimp with fried rice. Both were fairly tasty but nothing to write home about. Which seems to be a common theme for every restaurant I've ever gone to in all of GH. And the sad and unfortunate part of this is I ended up with a terrible stomach ache after eating half of my Gen Tsao's meal. The hubby was fine after eating his meal. This place used to be good but during the last year things have changed. Service sucks. Food has no flavor and the very last time I ate there, made me sick. I ordered at the table and after waiting 20 minutes for my drink and hearing the kitchen staff fighting with each other. I asked for my food to go, and I was charged extra for that. Delicious! We tried lots of different things. Sesame Red Bean Balls, Chinese Donuts, Sweet and Sour Chicken, General Tso's Tofu, Shrimp with Vegetables, Spicy Broccoli Garlic, Singapore Fried Rice. All was delicious and tasted fresh. We will be back. read more

The flavor of the fried rice was good but Shrimp fried rice should have pieces of shrimp all through it, this had nothing in the rice and six medium sized shrimp on top. I had to cut up the shrimp and mix it into the rice myself. The chow mien was mostly noodles, very few vegetables, not much chicken, no one liked it. Honey walnut prawns were very good. The Sesame chicken was okay, but not great. The crab Rangoon were very good. Out of 5 of us and $95.00 worth of food, the honey walnut prawns and crab Rangoon was the only thing anyone liked until I repaired their idea of shrimp fried rice. Will we be back ? This review is regarding the operations of the restaurant, not the food . . . we never got our food. As we've done for 17 years on Christmas Eve, my family and I have ordered and received this meal at this business, through all of it's names and never ever had a problem. Well, we did notice the name change but were assured the quality of the food and service remain the same. . . wrong! We called in and paid for our order around 6 pm and were told it would be ready by 8:15pm. My son and daughter went to pick it up and were then told that they hadn't even begun preparing our order and that it would be ready in half and hour to an hour. They didn't even apologize or offer anything whatsoever in return, just a 'We'll refund your money' as if that would fix Christmas Eve for us. I was craving Chinese food so my wife and I went to the dragon bistro. The hot and sour soup was great, and the chow main was pretty good too. The one negative about my meal was the beverage. I purchased a glass of lemonade for $4.10, and all it tasted like was Crystal Light with lemon slices in it. Plus, it was non-refillable. read more

First impression of this place was that uninviting and freezing cold so I ordered a hot tea to warm up. Our server didn't ask what kind and brought me a Jasmine which I typically like but it was overly fragrant and tasted like it had some artificial additives to it. They do not have any juice, it's just canned soda, water or tea here. Is it that difficult to get some small cans of pineapple juice or something else to accommodate kids or people who don't drink soda or tea? Egg drop soup was bland and blah. Crab Rangoon appeared to be nothing but fried cream cheese they mixed with sugar to sweeten it up. Husband wasn't a fan of the wings. At this point I wasn't expecting anything to be great but the next couple dishes were the better of the bunch. The quality of the honey walnut shrimp was excellent, they were large, tasted fresh and by that I mean came from clean waters. My toddler couldn't get enough. Chow mein with vegetables was great. If I came back here I'd specifically order what I knew was good and probably wouldn't get too adventurous aside from trying a fried rice. We ordered take-out. It was ready when we arrived, just took a bit to have a server break free to bring it to us. We paid for fried rice instead of steamed with one meal but when we got home it was all steamed rice. Double-check your orders before leaving. The food normally is at best OK. This relates more to customer service. I called three weeks ago to make a reservation for Christmas Eve. No problem they said and 6:00 pm was fine. They took my name and number. We show up tonight and now they are saying they don't take reservations for Christmas Eve and that it was a mistake by whomever took the call. No offer to get us in there at all. Just sorry we are backed up, no room for you and by the way take out is backed up at least two hours. They had my name, they had my phone number. If they made a mistake they should have called me up in those three weeks so we could make other plans. Their customer service is horrible and we won't be going back. read more

We ordered the individual dinners and were so disappointed. The soups were good but everything else was greasy. The Almond chicken, chow menu and fried rice were so saturated that I can't get the grease taste out of my mouth. Not sure what they are using but it overpowers everything. We so wanted to love it... Hunan Garden no wait, Panda Garden now it's Dragon Bistro. With each change the quality has gone down while the prices have gone up. The food is average at best, nothing special, the same food you could get over at Safeway a lot cheaper. Went to Dragon Bistro this evening for the first time since the new owners took over from the old Panda Garden. Wife got Kung Pao Chicken & I ordered the General Tsao's Chicken. We had to search for any chicken at all in the Kung Pao and the General Tsao's Chicken was so overly deep-fried that it was crunchy and chewy. The staff conveyed no warmth in that way that makes you feel they are doing you a favor by letting you eat there at all. Oh, and they charge an extra 3% for using any kind of card at all to pay. Then I called back and the lady actually said they were too busy to deal with it- yet they took my money and have the nerve to ask for tips! Still no resolution on credit for the item we did not receive and very clear about how there is no care about their customers and no ethics AND IN GIG HARBOR! So Surprising. This excuse for a restaurant will experience karma- when nobody shows up and they are out of business. Change your mind- eat Italian or get better food for less money at Panda. We used to frequent the old Panda Garden because the food was always hot and good. We were surprised when the name and ownership changed but in our opinion the food surpassed our expectations. We've only dined in and our food comes to the table hot and has thus far been delicious. We've ordered different items on the menu but our favorites are the crab rangoons--delicious--and the sweet and sour chicken. The only criticism I have is that the restaurant is very cold. We were told the heater was not working but the next time we went in it was cold as well. It doesn't add to the dining experience. But the staff are nice and as I said the food was very good and freshly made, not at all greasy. It's worth the long drive for us to get there. read more

Formerly Panda Garden, which was only OK for an infrequent visit, Dragons Bistro has further lowered the bar on Chinese food in Gig Harbor. Bland, warm at best and the appearance of Safeway takeout, I recommend you steer clear. Go to Tacoma or make yourself a sandwich at home. read more

I've eaten at Dragons Bistro for a couple of take outs. The dishes have been pretty mixed from decent sweet and sour chicken to bland greasy dishes not really very good at all.
