Stopped in for happy hour (served from 3-5pm) after a long day of hiking, not knowing what to expect. Upon seating we were given a small bag of popcorn to snack on while we looked at the menu which was a unique touch! My group ordered some small plates and cocktails. If you like gin, the Bohemian cocktail is a must try and was so refreshing on a hot summer day. My friends ordered the Margarita and loved them too. I recommend the fried zucchini. My husband, son, and I are visiting Bend and this is the first meal we had in this lovely town. Wow! We were amazed at how great this restaurant is. The location is great to experience downtown Bend. The atmosphere is very cozy and the bar is beautiful. Service was excellent. I ordered a vegan dish just because it sounded good. It was an oat and walnut sandwich with caramelized onions and mushrooms. It was seriously the best vegan dish I have ever had at a restaurant. I paired it with some horseradish dipping sauce and it threw it over the edge. The cocktails are wonderful and very tasty. My husband enjoyed his Wednesday-night-special which was steak frites with a salad and a glass of wine for $19. My son enjoyed his kids cheeseburger which I have never seen him devour a large cheeseburger like that before. Overall, great place!! Highly recommend :-) read more

Nice atmosphere. Fried chicken dish was a horrible mess but everything else was top notch. We had the scallops special, octopus app, burrata salad, and a dessert but it wasn't memorable. I ordered the filet mignon, most expensive item on the menu, $52.00. it was cooked great but was the size of a golf ball and came with some sliced leeks. That was it. My wife's Gnocchi was also a tiny portion. It truly appears with the closure of 900 Wall they are up in price and down in volume. Less for more, seems to be the approach. We've enjoyed experiences at the Drake multiple times, so I felt it was time for a review. The menu is eclectic and the food is very well executed. Service is fantastic, both in speed of service and hospitality. The only knock I have is the sheer volume inside the space. I just wanted to highlight the fantastic service we received. Cole was outstanding. He greeted our table with a friendly smile and was very helpful when we asked questions regarding our food order. We were traveling from Sacramento and had been in a car accident early in the morning, so being greeted with a friendly face and a great atmosphere was very much appreciated. Our only complaints were that the service took a little longer and the host/manager (Not really sure who he was) was a little grumpy when we asked to eat in the outdoor seating. This restaurant is in a wonderful location. Close to downtown, close to the river. Not much to complain about location wise. The service was fine. Our server was kind and took good care of us. However the wait times were exceptionally long. I enjoyed my burger. However both my fiance and my mother did not enjoy their dinners. My fiancé's sea bass was underwhelming and the gentleman next to us said the same thing about it. My mom's fried chicken was fine. She wanted the short ribs, but the restaurant had ran out after only an hour of being open. Overall was a very meh experience. Not sure I'd go back. read more

Drake's was everything we hoped it would be, and more. We came at a busy time, but we were able to get seating at the bar. We had some very well-made drinks with a starter salad, and it was delicious. Then our dinner came and it was exquisite. The Loin was one of the best cooked meats we've had in months, and the salmon was perfectly done, with the right amount of doneness in the center. The sides were tasty and had a nice blend of flavors. We weren't tempted by their dessert options however. We had a wonderful dinner though and highly recommend Drake's. read more

Visited for my fathers 81st birthday. Three adults and a toddler. The negative for me was- -fried chicken skin was burnt, not burnt black but just one shade away, tasted burnt. The brunt breading was also a little thick but this might have been unnoticeable if it wasn't a thick burnt shell covering my chicken. Chicken meat itself was juicy and perfect. -our waitress was not friendly, like at all. Seemed upset we were there frankly. Maybe because I had a toddler but she is really well behaved. Other staff, like the hostess were very nice. I guess just don't sit in the section with the waitress with the nose ring. Some people aren't meant for customer service, not being mean, I'm probably one of those people too. One of those instances where you say to yourself afterwards, "why the hell did I just tip that person" -did not offer us dessert. Came in for my father's birthday, they knew ahead of time. Didn't offer us a dessert menu or anything. Seemed like they wanted us to leave. Positive: -my chicken was bad but my father loved the pork shank special they had and said his Manhattan was one of the best he's had I don't see myself coming back. read more

My husband and I went to Drake for the first time last night to celebrate the last few weeks of my pregnancy. I was very much looking forward to sitting outside on a beautiful day to enjoy a meal. Unfortunately, the meal was incredibly underwhelming. I ordered the Wednesday special steak frites and received an incredibly well, well done steak to the point of it being literally burnt. The steaks only flavor came from the cilantro they generously topped it with. Otherwise, it was flavorless. My accompanying salad was half wilted and I had picked out the many wilted pieces to set aside. My waiter clearly saw a plate of wilted, brown lettuce (it was about a quarter of the overall salad) and didn't ask us if the side had been okay, which was a bit surprising given how much had been picked apart. My husband ordered the pasta and to say it was a pasta was a bit of a reach. It was more like a bean soup with some pasta and for nearly $30 was semi flavorless and disappointing. Overall, we came because of the reviews but found this restaurant to be extremely overpriced for the flavor and value it offered. It would require a serious menu overhaul for us to come back and spend money here again. read more

On a last-minute trip to Bend, we'd hit some of my favorite restaurants but our last night was missing a great spot to eat. We were able to score an outdoor reservation for a friend's birthday, and weren't sure what to expect. Service was just absolutely wonderful -- truly. So attentive. When the sun dipped below the horizon, servers came out to turn on the heat lamps to make sure we were nice and toasty. We sampled all the vegetarian dishes on the menu, including customizing the cheeses on the charcuterie plate! Our favorite was the whole roasted cauliflower with whipped yogurt and pistachio za'tar. While other restaurants in Bend remain higher on my list, I was pleasantly surprised by our visit to Drake. Menu is simpler but solid, and service was noteworthy. We've been big fans of Drake for many years. Our recent visit was during a busy summer weekend in Bend. We wanted to treat visiting family to a meal. We had reservations yet had to wait over half an hour for our table. Our server was good, informative, overworked. Took well over an hour for food to arrive. Our party of five all enjoyed our meals! Fried chicken, burger, vegetarian special and a shrimp dish were all delicious. The bartender was excellent, poured with a heavy hand. Seems like Drake isn't well managed and certainly understaffed in the kitchen. As a local I'll be back once the summer crowds have dissipated. read more

We celebrated Father's Day at Drake this week. Sat outside, great weather. We had the whole cauliflower as an appetizer for the table. Soooo good! The only thing that could possibly make it better was if it had more of the amazing yoghurt sauce! The dad ordered the Bendie Goes to Paris burger. It is served open face with aus jus. He really liked it. The fries were on the thin side and crispy. I stole a couple and can report that they were very tasty. Our son had the pork chop. He let me have a taste. Moist and delicious. The seafood stew had octopus on this day and I just think they are too smart to eat, so I had the little gem Caesar. Delish. Added the grilled prawns. They were the jumbo ones and there were three of them. They were advertised as charred but frankly they seemed burnt to us. The whole group agreed. I mentioned to the waiter and without prompting, he took them off the bill. Unexpected but nice. The sweetest part of the evening was that our son excused himself to "go to the bathroom" and paid the bill. He gets the 'what a guy' award! read more

We went based off the Yelp reviews which is exactly why I'm leaving mine. This was one of the most disappointing meals I had in Bend. We were given a free bag of popcorn while we waited for our food, and it was literally burnt. My husband said you can smell the burn. Why hand out burnt popcorn as someone's first impression? We ordered the fried cheddar grits and pulled pork which was the best thing we tried. I ordered the fried chicken with a side of Mac and cheese. I had 2 bites of the chicken (which came with no sauce) and all I could taste was the oil they fried it in. GROSS. It came with cucumber dill potato salad which was just all wrong. Maybe that flavor profile tastes good to other people but ew. The mac and cheese was flavorless, so I didn't eat it cause what's the point. The waitress saw I didn't like the food because my plates were full, she asked if I liked my food and I said no. She just cleared the plates, and offered no discount. My husband ordered the seared duck and found it flavorless. We ate dinner at RBC on Saturday and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Food tasted great. Lasagna was great tasting but like deconstructed lasagna. It was more roasted vegetables with red sauce. Portion was minuscule. Soup was fantastic & a good portion. Flavor of the soup was excellent & complex. Broccolini was 2 stems for 9$. It was worth 4$. We ordered focaccia bread which came cold and with no herbs, oils or butter. Mac n Cheese had NO cheese. Drinks were ok but not amazing. Server which was a young man was awesome. He is very attentive. Overall this restaurant needs to make some serious adjustments in the kitchen. I would not return. Food: (We had 4 dishes) 1- flank steak: cooked perfectly and chimichurri was excellent. 2- veggie lasagna: also excellent. Good if you are not into carbs. 3- burger: really enjoyed this. I recently dined at Drake and, as usual, the meal was fantastic. The food consistently impresses, and our favorite server Natasha always delivers exceptional service. Came here for brunch around 11 without a reservation. Was able to get right in, but the restaurant filled up pretty fast right after. Food: Crab cake Benny ($20) was really yummy! We had a great experience dining here for our anniversary! Some other reviews have said negative things about service but our servers were very friendly and attentive throughout our whole meal. We had multiple servers check in to see how we were doing. The food was fantastic! The crab cake was possibly the best one I've ever had. It actually tasted like crab (some places fill them so much with other things that you don't taste much crab) and they used a lot of crab meat. It was worth the $24! Jalapeño really enjoyed the grilled peaches and carrot hummus as appetizers. The flourless chocolate torte was a delicious way to end the meal too. We even had found one tiny little bug in some of our salad greens but they were SO nice and apologetic about it and comped our appetizer and brought us a new one. I wasn't that upset about the bug (sometimes it just happens in organic greens) but I was so impressed with how they handled it! I would definitely come back here to celebrate another special occasion. They made it a wonderful dining experience! read more

Drake has always confused me as to what kind of dining experience they are going for. Is it high end or is it pub food? All I know is I like it. We've been coming here for years and always have a great experience. This was our first brunch and we were blown away. The wait was non existent, the service was great, the food was incredible, and all this at what seemed fairly affordable (for Bend). This Bend icon has a small ever changing menu, based on what is locally fresh. Reservations are needed most of the year, but you can always sit at the bar. My wife and I love sitting at the bar. The staff are friendly, warm and make you feel special, every visit!! The food is outstanding, the staff are the best in town. You must try this eatery!!!! read more

I don't know how this place doesn't come up as the best brunch in bend, because it was really fantastic. We were a tad worried when we sat down and no one tended to us for quite a while, but once the manager realized that they were rockstars and so attentive.
