I wanted to share my experience honestly because I was very disappointed, and I wouldn't want someone else to make the same mistake. My haircut was with Dita. I came in for a simple trim and only asked for the dead ends to be taken off. Unfortunately, more hair was cut than I expected, and as the cut was being evened out, it kept getting shorter and shorter. I also was not happy with the customer service experience overall. Since I wasn't getting a blow dry, I completely understood that the cut might not look perfect until it dried, and I appreciated being told I could come back if needed. However, I still expected the haircut to be even regardless, so that comment was concerning to hear. After getting home and seeing it fully dry, I honestly still don't think my hair is even. I was told I could come back to have it adjusted, but haircuts take time to grow out, and at this point I'm not comfortable returning to have more hair cut off trying to fix it. While I was sitting there with wet hair, my stylist began doing another client's bangs and instructed the shampoo assistant to only partially dry my hair. I ended up leaving with soaking wet, dripping hair. Most salons in the area at least dry your hair enough so you can comfortably walk out. Overall, I left feeling really upset with both the result and the experience. There are a lot of salons nearby, and personally I would recommend exploring other options, such as Salon Icon or Zak's Salon. read more

I've been hesitating to write this review, but after much consideration, I felt it was important to share my experience. I first visited Nettie on May 4th, 2024. At the time, my hair was dark brown with about four inches of grown-out roots, and I wanted to transition back to my natural strawberry blonde color. I emphasized that I wanted to protect my hair's integrity and wasn't looking for a drastic change, but something more gradual. I ended up spending seven hours there, and while the process was expensive, the results were good, even if not exactly what I had envisioned. The color lifted well, and I didn't have to return for about six months. However, it was my second visit, on October 5th, 2024, that left me extremely dissatisfied. I once again communicated that I wanted to go back to my strawberry blonde and focus on removing more of the brown while protecting my hair. I was there for an entire day, but when I left, my hair was severely damaged and fried. A test strip had never been done (neither time), and the bleach was left on for too long. Nettie mentioned that my hair needed a deep conditioning treatment but didn't inform me it wasn't complimentary. I was told about the charge only after they applied the treatment. To make matters worse, this visit ended up being even more expensive than the first, despite the fact that I hadn't asked for the conditioning treatment. When I called to ask about the price difference, I was initially told it was due to the extra foils used, then they later clarified it was because of the deep conditioning mask. They offered me a $50 credit, but that didn't feel like enough. Nettie later told me that my hair breaking was not her fault, claiming it was just how my hair reacted. Since then, my hair has been constantly breaking, despite regular trims and deep conditioning treatments. It has not been able to recover. I recently visited a reputable salon, where they informed me that my hair had been stripped of its natural keratin, was over-processed, and was broken from top to bottom. They said my thick hair was the only thing keeping it from falling out completely, and anyone else in my position would likely be bald. I'm deeply disappointed by the results of my visits to Nettie. My hair has left me feeling self-conscious and frustrated. It's constantly frizzy and no longer holds a curl, which has been a huge blow to my confidence. To top it off, my last visit ended up costing close to $700, which feels completely unjustified given the damage done. read more

Dramatics NYC 34th St. I was tired of walking in the city for like 5 hours and as I was walking I passed by this salon - I saw this decent looking salon and decided to give my legs a rest and get a wash and cut to get my energy back. They did not disappoint for sure. I stood outside reading the reviews first for a couple of minutes before deciding to walk in as I'm really very particular about my hair. The lady that shampooed and conditioned my hair was amazing and it felt really nice. I had a slight headache before I walked into the salon and it went away after she shampooed and messaged my scalp. Decided to go for a Bob and chop off several inches for a change and Ruby did a great job. She was friendly, approachable, and complimented the quality of my hair. We had a nice conversation. She gave me exactly what I was looking for and then some. After the cut and blow dry she checked my hair again a few times to make sure everything was exactly what I wanted. My husband loved my haircut as well. Great customer service! Good haircut! I definitely recommend them. With a cut, and wash it's only $35 but if you add a blow dry to it it's $70 which is very reasonable! read more

I saw Nettie for a cut. I came in with short hair, it was close to a pixie cut, but the previous stylist I saw at another salon 2 months prior did not do a great job. Nettie evened it out and gave it a nice shape/style. She spent more time on my cut than I was expecting especially with such short hair. I was really impressed with her attention to detail and the care she took to execute what I asked her to do (I brought in photo references) while also giving suggestions to make the cut look better. I rarely leave reviews for anything but this place definitely needs this review. I went in not knowing exactly what I needed as my hair was a bit of a mess. I requested an appointment for the soonest available appointment for a balayage on their website which was also easy to navigate. Upon getting there, the receptionist was so nice and the ambiance was great. I was then approached my the INCREDIBLE stylist, Omega. Before the process we discussed pricing. The pricing he mentioned was over my mental budget and since going from a brassy/orange + previous black dye to blonde is pretty tricky I expressed to him I could settle for less but I needed help with my hair. Ariel has been my stylist for 7+ years. I've followed her from when she first started at the 23rd St location to the 5th Ave location and now here to 34th St. She is absolutely AMAZING! I love being able to come in and say "keep the length long but cut as much as you need to make my hair healthy again" or "I really want the color to pop." FIVE STARS FOR DITA FROM DRAMATICS. ONE STAR FOR ARIEL. I was assigned Ariel for my double process root touch up. I paid $262 to walk out with uneven color, extremely dead, half frizzy-half still wet hair. $262 to just touch up my roots and tone my head, no cut, no blow dry, not even a rough dry. Half my hair was also broken off and yanked out due to extremely aggressive pulling and brushing. UPDATE: Dita is extremely nice and understanding. I called her after my appointment with Ariel because I was unsatisfied with Ariel's work. But Dita gave me an amazing haircut and treatment to fix my damaged hair. I made an appointment for my daughter based on a reference from a friend who advertised it as a less expensive salon for our teenagers. Online it had a range of $80-125 for partial highlights, and $60-80 for a cut. The stylist told her that the picture she had was more a balayage look and that she had to color correct and tone her hair apparently. Dita basically Princess Diaried me, I went from flat and dull to full Balayage and life! I started looking at the mirror thinking to myself why I haven't done this sooner. Had a great service done by Glamour. I loved how friendly she is and always asked how I was doing during my hair process. She definitely takes your thoughts and concerns in mind.
