The time and value wasn't worth it at all. I had a wash, retwist, and 2 strand twists style appointment for my mid back length locs. The appointment ended up taking 5 hours and costing $375 (including deposit) and the work was subpar at best. I'm not sure where to begin. Let me FIRST start off by saying that I SO ENJOYED my time at Dread Rock Salon. The salon: Funky, clean and cozy. Professional and stylish without being stuffy. They offer a variety of services from cuts and colors to synthetic and human hair extensions and locks. The people: Debbie (owner) has been doing hair for years and it shows. Her experience is TOP OF THE LINE. I got a full set of human hair permanent dread extensions and I LOVE THEM!!. She listened to my thoughts and ideas and created it perfectly. She was professional, fun and efficient. I very much enjoyed being in her space! Debbie's assistant (Magdalene) was extremely helpful, professional and fun, too! Dreadrock salon was awesomely fantastic! They were fast but did a A+ job! My dreads rocked with color and washed super clean. I give this place a five star for there thorough job on my dreads. DO NOT GO HERE! I PROMISE YOU I know that this may seem strange because all the other people have five star reviews but I can assure you that they were probably friends with people who own the salon or paid to make a post like that because this is honestly one of the worst salons that you could possibly go to. Debbie(the owner) placed my dreads in November of 2016 using the back comb palm roll method. it included sectioning off my hair, backcombing it and then simply palm rolling.. something that could have been completed in under an hour to an hour and a half MAX... with this being said Debbie took 6 hours to do my hair. during this time she took countless "bathroom breaks", food breaks, phone call breaks, and stopped to text countless times. i'm not just saying 4/6 instances, im talking 10+ times. when it was all done, i was charged $500 for the services that i was provided and i was happy to pay it because i was so excited to be having these new beautiful locs of love on my head. i wasn't happy to pay it because i felt that the work that was done wasn't worthy of $500. With all that aside, while i was there Debbie was extremely rude towards me and the friend that i brought to sit with me while i got my hair done. If your getting any hair services please look into other options because there are many more people out there who actually care to provide you with a great service, and not charge a ridiculous amount of money read more

Terresa truly rocks. I called at about 4:30 pm wanting to satiate a spur of the moment urge to shave the sides of my head. The owner got in touch with Terresa who was on that night and she had me in by 6pm! I was the only one in the salon and was greated by Terresa with so much warmth and vitality! She mirrored my own excitement and enthusiasm for this big hair change and was like a total cheerleader while shaving inches of hair from my head during a last minute appointment. I loved her. Debbie is amazing!! I have been wearing my hair natural for about three years and have always struggled to find out what works for me. I end up having really dry and matted hair and getting frustrated with it. I looked up this salon online and was excited to give her a try. I have 4C, very curly afro hair. She did a quick consult and came up with a few ideas that would work for me. I felt like she really listened to what I wanted and found a way to save A LOT of my hair without chopping it all off. She detangled everything (painful :(( haha) but it had to be done. She then gave me a smoothing treatment which made my hair SO soft and manageable. After that she twisted my hair finishing in a beautiful twist out. I love how she really enjoys doing hair and gives her all to each client. We were in the salon pretty late but her upbeat attitude makes the time fly by. At the end, she gave me some products to help maintain my hair and develop a daily/nightly routine. Comfortable, chill environment. Debbie (the owner) seems to know what I want even when I don't! I give her a general idea and don't even need to say any more. Dreadlocks are the obvious focus here, but I've never met anyone as good at shorter-hair, alternative male hairstyles. If you're into having a unique hairstyle this is the place. Dread Rock Salon works magic. Debbie is an absolute wizard for hair. She is extreeemely thorough and professional and impressively, impressively knowledgeable about hair care. When I met her, I was skeptical, because I have special hair needs (fine, extra wavy African American hair in dreads for 18 years) and I have not had reliable or additive successes with other salons in the area. Debbie knows hair. Debbie knows dreads. Debbie knows Black hair. She is a master of all. I do not state this casually. I have been to so many salons and have seen nothing near the care I received here. The price was spot on with what I typically pay. (Under $200. 3 hours), but I got EXTRAORDINARY, STELLAR service and hair repair I have never had at a salon. She did some treatments I've read about in my travels, but that I've never made time to try out for myself. And I've never seen any of these offered in a professional salon. I was blown away. I actually did not know that a salon could do this, but it's part of her standard protocol, and I SOOOO appreciated it after because my hair looks AMAZING, several days after the treatment. My hair is silky, shiny, and it is holding together from root to tip like a boss. My hair has NEVER LOOKED THIS GOOD. I have had my locks for 18 years. The deep cleansing and reparative treatments were truly remarkable. There was a really nice moisturizing treatment too. All in addition to the standard shampoos and conditioner applications. Debbie spared nothing. She is thorough and meticulous. The salon was immaculate, and decked out with its own style. She is a real Type A and I love it. She is kind of like a boss. Debbie was also able to repair some thinning, knotted, otherwise damaged locks. The experience was well worth every minute and every penny. From now on, I will go to no one else. My daughter had her dreads tightened and cleaned up. This was our first time at Dread Rock. The salon was easy to find. I loved the atmosphere and their decor. We were there for almost 5 hours. They have a nice comfy couch to sit on and plenty of magazines to browse through. Our stylist was Kenzie. She was very nice, patient :-), and professional. I would not reccomend this place for anyone who wants a stable and honest price for dreadlocks. I went in for a consultation and during that time Magdalyn and Debbie quietly and secretly went into the back to come up with their own idea of what the price was to do my dreads the way that I had visioned. I got a few different quotes. The first was from Debbie and started at $500 and went up from there after every hour additionally. Then her daughter quoted me at $500 flat for however long it took even including tightening the tips of the dreads. I was very happy with that price and then decided to start the process today. I went in this morning and after meeting with Magdalyn to begin the process I showed her a picture of sizing and style that I felt would look the best on my hair and what I've been hoping for, she immediately stated that the price would drammaticaly increase because this was not what she had planned to do. I cannot comment on the quality of work becuase I did not follow through with the appointment today, however I can say that the feeling and atmosphere of this particular dreadlock salon was all about money and not about helping people start their dreadlock journey. read more

I had my appointment back in April. Since I never heard back from Debbie, the owner, about a partial refund for my horrible experience, I am finally writing my review. To make a long story short I was quoted over the phone for dread removal(combing my dreads out). I was told by the owner it would take 4 hours, give or take and that it was $85/hour. I was planning on no more than 6 hours and no more than $510 for the total cost. I ended up being there for 12 hours. My appointment was at 11am and I didn't leave unitl after 11pm. I had to cancel everything I had planned that day and the appointment cost me $940 total(including a half hour free for doing a review in the middle of my appointment and a $50 deposit). When I talked to the owner after my appointment and asked for a partial refund since I was misquoted I never heard back from her. She also stated she wasn't able to tell customers that it could potentially take up to 12 hours for an appointment because people wouldn't go to her salon. This was my first and last experience at a salon and if I would have known it was going to be such a negative experience I would have just shaved my head and saved almost $1000. read more
