Busy place so must have some good food. I was so disappointed in my AM Tacos though. You HAVE to warm corn tortillas before filling them, y'all! My tortillas just crumbled and they were so cold and stale tasting because they did not warm them in the pan first. While visiting Grand Junction for a wine-tasting weekend, my friends and I decided to brunch here on our Saturday morning. We were a party of ten and the place was pretty crowded, so they gave us the option of either waiting until a place for ten opened up, or splitting into two groups in hopes of something opening up more quickly, and we opted for the second choice. They gave us a 40 minute wait time and it ended up being about that. Once we were seated, the service was very quick and efficient. We ordered our breakfast and they brought out the food nearly ten minutes later! It was surprisingly fast. I'd say the food was about average. I split the Fresh Cinnamon Roll and the California Dreamin' Bene with a friend and we agreed: they were both good, but not great. There was nothing wrong with the dishes, they just didn't stand out. The menu at this place was very reminiscent of Snooze (I felt like they copied most of their dishes and interior), so it came across as a bit of a knock-off, which is too bad. I don't think this place was bad by any means, it was just an average brunch spot. I wouldn't give it a glowing req, but if you're looking for a brunch place in GJ, you could do a lot worse than this place! read more

Rather standard menu but what we order was amazing. Pancakes were so fluffy, I thought they'd float off the plate. The club sandwich with rosemary seasoned French fries was probably the best I've ever eaten. Unfortunately the service was so unfriendly that I doubt I'd ever stop there again. So good I had to come back! Zac was a great waiter, he gets props because I was a picky orderer but my food came out all correct! Overall this is a nice place with a warm retro feel. Friday at 7 am and the place is almost empty. I will definitely come back if I am in Town. The coffee came out quickly and my cup has been refilled quicken than I can drink it. The California Benedict it's pretty good with fresh avocado. The sauce is fair, but not great. Eggs at cooked perfectly. The bacon tasted like the meat candy that it is. Yummy They even have soy milk for those poor soles that don't drink dairy. read more

Not even close! The textiles were nice & I loved the lighting and the finishes. Not a DIY kinda place! First of all, I loved the orange Fiesta mugs- nice touch! . I ordered tea for one, which was a nice selection. They served Shangri La tea, but opted for the Royal Cup instead. I had California Dreamin' Bene and it was so much more than I expected. Roasted red peppers & asparagus? I was sold! Each bite oozed deliciousness! The eggs were just right! Everything was just right! I even returned the next morning & ordered it again! We really love Dream Cafe! I come into Grand Junction maybe once or twice a year. But our last visit may have been our last. Now I understand covid is making it hard on businesses and the workers. This however doesn't mean being rude to people who come in is accepted. Out of the 4 or 5 times I've been to dream cafe the service was always great. But our waiter wouldn't even talk to us this time. The entire vibe of the store was extremely unwelcoming. We had a big party of 9 so we had to be split, which we were fine with. I am very sad to give this rating as Dream Cafe has been a needed change in our community and I would have previously rated this a 4 or 5. Not sure what is behind the less than quality food and experience this past 1-2 years. We went for breakfast this last week after realizing Las Maria's (5) was closed on New Years Day. I ordered the jalapeño steak Benedict (2). One of the poached eggs was hard cooked and the other had egg shells. When I notified the waitress of the hard cooked egg, she quickly brought out another one in a small dish that was runny but not appetizing. I didn't mention the egg shell as I felt there was so much critical feedback overall, I felt a bit exasperated. My husband ordered the Colorado Omelet (3). It was over cooked, dry, and thus lacked flavor. The dream hash-browns that come with both meals appeared to have been heated or cooked in old grease on the griddle, a dark color on parts of them. Orange juice seemed to be freshly squeezed and was very good. The establishment has looked a bit run down and floor are not as clean as used to be. I sure hope they can find their way back to more excellent food, Although we will likely not be back as there are too many other good choices. read more

A Grand Junction vacation must! It's right downtown and serves mimosas and bloody mary's alongside your choice of lunch or breakfast (breakfast served all day!). My favorites are the Biscuits and Gravy and the Crab Cake Benedicts. Both are served with a side of Dream Potatoes which are hashbrowns. Sometimes the hashbrowns are way undercooked and it's like eating soggy (albeit tasty!) potato shavings. We asked for "crispier" Dream Potatoes one time and got potato shavings that were similar in texture to potato chips. No happy medium! So we prefer it just the way they bring it out, and we eat it no matter what, 'cause like I said...it's still tasty! The mimosas and bloody mary's are...sigh...a letdown. I had to add way too much salt, pepper, and Tabasco to my bloody mary to get it to have any flavor other than tomato juice. So that was my first and last bloody mary at Dream. The mimosas are champagne (no complaints there!) with orange juice concentrate...so they're not super tasty. Just kind of a cloying orange flavor. And if you get a flavored one, they're just adding peach or raspberry liquer, making the flavor even more...cloying...? The pomegranate mimosa is the best option, with the plain mimosa a second best, and the Red Bull one is interesting if you wanna try that...4 bucks is a reasonable price, so I get one (or two!) with every breakfast (weekends of course) despite my complaints. Back to my favorite dishes: 1) Biscuits and Gravy - one small-to-medium biscuit split open, topped with your choice of chicken or pork sausage (both are interesting, not exactly AWESOME, but interesting, so I switch back and forth), eggs any way you want, gravy (with bits of more unknown meat...pork sausage??), and cheddar. It's kind of a lot all at once. So I get the eggs on the side and usually push a good amount of the cheddar off too. 3) Crab Cake Benedicts - FREAKING SPECTACULAR. But don't try this hungover. Ugh, that seafood ruined my morning one time. Anyway, on any OTHER day, this is seriously incredible. Perfect English muffin split in half, topped with perfect crab cakes (never overcooked, perfectly seasoned), perfect poached eggs, and topped with a PERFECT lemon hollandaise. Holy cow. AMAZING! My one complaint...they won't let you do two different egg benedicts (like the California or the regular Dream with one Crab Cake Bene). I was able to do this once in Denver at Snooze (other reviewers have compared them), and it seems like an easy way to accommodate the customer, yet Dream won't do it. Bah. Humbug. Other than the complaints mentioned (oh and they don't have Sweet-n-Low...I know...cancer blah blah blah), I love love LOVE spending a lazy Sunday brunch here. The deco is perfect. The lighting is perfect. The food is...good enough. The mimosas are cheap. Oh, and the best seat in the house is the round side of the bar top. Especially if it's just you and your hunny. We never have to wait if that's open 'cause it's first come, first served. The worst seat in the house is the furthest southwest booth (right north of the round table up front and to the west). The sun shines perfectly through that front window blinding you and ruining your meal, so make a fuss before they seat you there. Oh and most of the waitresses are great! Dream Cafe should just stick to breakfast food. I ordered a salad (the Chop Chop) after days of eating unhealthily on the road. The Chop Chop sounded like it should have been the perfect detox - veggies, grilled chicken, herb vinaigrette. Pretty standard. Unfortunately, the grilled chicken was dry as cardboard and came out in rock-hard uniform little cubes - it was hard to tell whether it was previously frozen or had been first grilled during the Cretaceous period and then reheated. On the other hand, my bf's California benedict came with fresh avocados, red peppers, perfectly poached eggs, wonderfully toasted English muffins, and a few spears of asparagus.
