Nice 50s style breakfast diner on the Massachusetts / New Hampshire border. This restaurant prides itself on service and on creating a dining experience. For example, if you are a first time diner, they announce this fact to the entire dining room and you get a round of applause. But strangely, the personal service wasn't very good. My wife requested milk for her coffee, but it never arrived. We ordered one of the homemade cinnamon rolls, but never got it. Our meals for our party of four arrived at different times several minutes apart. Our server seemed to change throughout the meal so we weren't sure who to flag down for help. A server stopped for an instant to ask if everything was good, but then left before we had a chance to anything. When it came time to pay, the restaurant avoided taking my money. Finally, yet another different server stopped by to collect my credit card. The food was good and the menu is vast as compared to usual breakfast options. So where do I start, I have been a huge fan of this place over the years. I have recommended this place to everyone. I went in to a very welcoming breakfast dinner where the service is always very nice. I ordered 3 eggs Benedict cooked medium (pointing out the the whites need to be cooked). My wife also ordered hers the same way with corned beef hash. Unfortunately they came to the table as close to raw as you can. Whoever the cook was did not care to deliver what was asked. I cut into my first egg and it was runny, with the white flowing like a River. I then cut into the second and third eggs hoping it was a egg error, no such luck. The second and third eggs were actually worst that the first, the white was the color of a raw egg, just nauseating and unacceptable. I couldn't eat any more and stopped to call the waitress. They were apologetic and took it off of the bill, gave me a wrapped up donut and told me to always ask for the sauce on the side so that they could check before serving it out. Hmmmm, really? I didn't know how to reply other than thank you. I was further disappointed that the waitress didn't look over to my wife's dish as it was clearly bad as well. It too was raw, not as bad as mine but pretty close. Her corned beef hash was basically warmed up and added to the dish as well, she had two or three bites and left the rest. My question to ownership is, why wouldn't you see that on your own?? Why would you need her to also complain just when I sent my dish back?? These a simple messages that we can all learn from. Solid diner food in a lively atmosphere. We came in at noon on a Saturday to a full restaurant and two parties waiting ahead of us, but turnaround is fast so we were seated in 5 minutes. Our waitress was running around like a chicken with her head cut off busy- but she took our order and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time so that was good. I got Irish eggs Benedict which was great. Boyfriend got the full size cinnamon roll pancakes which were he liked but were a little too small. He said he'd try something different next time. Took my mom for her 83rd birthday. Bridget our waitress was very personable, warm, and welcoming. She made my moms birthday breakfast more special. She offered to take pictures, had everybody sing to her, and was very excited and happy for the occasion. The prices were reasonable. The food was delicious. We had a pastrami omelette which Bridget recommended. It was excellent. The food came out at a reasonable time, and we enjoyed ourselves. The bathrooms were extremely clean. Our table was sanitized and clean as well as the whole entire restaurant at any given point of our visit. Thankyou to the bus girl also who was extremely sweet, efficient, polite and pleasant. We've been to the Dream Diner many times. It's always fun to look around and see all the cool wall decorations. I like that they greet you immediately when you enter. We were seated right away and had our drink order in before we were even settled in the booth. If your new to the diner (they ask you when you come in) they will announce you to everyone. It's actually really fun. Most people join in on the fun and take the time out of their breakfast and say hello to the newbies. The food is always out quickly and hot. They only negative comments I have for the diner are 1. The food is good but I feel like it could be spiced up a bit. The home fries were blah. No flavor. 2. My other negative is the bill. There isn't a spot for people to add a tip to a credit card payment!!! I went with no cash and felt horrible. read more

My fiancé is a picky eater and he raves about the omelettes. I'm not as picky, but I do find the food to be great. We usually get the Pollard omelette. Service is fast and friendly, and the quality of the food is consistent. I do have to deduct a star because the online ordering process is always recommended when we get take out, but never works properly. On a few occasions for take out, my order has been wrong, which is a little frustrating when it's take out and you don't expect to have to check it before you head home. (Although now we do) When I expressed my concern about it being the second time my order was wrong, the manager gave me her personal number and said to text next time I was ordering and she'd make it right. I do believe she absolutely was genuine and sincere about caring about my order, but rather than text a busy diner, I'd rather it just be sent out the right the first time. Either way, I was appreciative that she genuinely cared. All in all, great food and friendly people. We've become regulars here and hope to see the Dream Diner continue to thrive. read more

This place had a lot of POTENTIAL, but a lot of little things made this experience less than expected/hoped for. Pros: - Food was about average. - Service was good. Cons: - The total bill for 2 people having coffee and breakfast came to over $33 before tip. - Most breakfast diners serve pancakes, waffles, and french toast on a separate plate from the eggs, home fries, etc., but this restaurant had everything together on cheap plastic plates (all crammed together on one plate). - The menu stated my meal came with a waffle but it was served to me with only half of one. NOTE: We DID order breakfast that included eggs, home fries, bacon, AND a waffle/pancake - making it a little more expensive than the typical eggs and toast, but it was just surprisingly expensive for what the menu stated we'd get, and then even more disappointing at the small serving. I can see a lot of people like this place, but I just felt like it landed sub-par compared to any other old-fashioned diner I've been to, on top of being the most expensive diner I've EVER been to. EDIT to Marybeth: I don't think I misled anyone - all I was stating was the price did not match the quantity or the quality of food compared to other breakfast diners. These are my personal thoughts and was my experience and if other people have other thoughts then that's fine. In the time of a serious pandemic I HATE to put a small business on blast, but after a visit on what I thought would be a relaxing Sunday breakfast I have to say something. Yes, it was busy and we got a table right away. Yes, we were welcomed with a smile and warm cup of coffee and yes, our waitress was kind and helpful. BUT after being able to watch the employees AND owner for a while I cannot bring myself back to this establishment knowing the precautions that are SUPPOSED to be taken for Covid are NOT being met. I saw MULTIPLE health violations regarding cleaning procedures and handling of dirty items without washing OR using any sanitizer in between. The staff had masks but no gloves and they were touching EVERYTHING in between serving customers and handling food without cleaning their hands AT ALL! I saw one staff member wipe down a table with a dirty rag then slap a sign down saying it was now "sanitized". I saw another staff member clear dirty dishes from a table, take the customers silverware they just touched and scrape the leftovers into a trash bin and place the items in a dirty bin, then immediately pick up menus to hand to new customers. The owner herself input orders in a tablet that everyone was sharing, took phone orders and touched dirty rags and then grabbed "clean" silverware out of a bin to give to a table. ‍ALL OF THIS without one second of hand washing or sanitizer for ANYONE. I'm sorry that's just ignorance at its finest, your customers health should come above all else in these times and safe health practices should be top notch. Friendly service, ok food and possibly a side of Covid served with zero regard for staff or customer well being. We won't be back. read more

This was fabulous! Owner Mary Beth gave us a warm welcome and prompt service. Her smile could kite up a room. Her adorable "Mom", Bridget was the best! The decor is a throw back to the 50's . We sat at the counter which provided us with a view of the coordinated chaos surrounding the line cooks and the servers. We shared we were first timers and from Vermont and they gave us the most adorable little signs and even a huge shout out when we were leaving. Highly recommend! We will be back! read more

We love this place, it's our go to for Breakfast in the area. We went for my wife's 50th B day and had a blast. Bridget is a fun host, who had everyone sing to her and gave us the royal treatment. Great family owned business. As for the food the cinnamon bun french toast is a heavenly dish. She had the breakfast burrito which was delicious. And they have liquor here as well, not all diners do. This is a place for a true yelper to go, just bring the green stuff and not the plastic stuff (money not credit). Lotsa parking, easy to find location and coffee while you wait and lemme tell you- you will be waiting, it's clearly THAT good. Usually I'm a control phreak, meaning that I order a breakfast that usually consists of eggs, toast, meat, home fries. No concoctions because one can't control a mixture of ingredients....but the lady that was sitting in the booth across from us had the florentine and, truthfully the only florentine I love is the one hubbie makes for me....but hers looked so yum so I opted for no control....and I must say it worked to my benefit. The meals came with home fries that albeit good needed to be a wee more crispy for my tater tastes. The kielbasa was good and from the nearly cleaned and reusable plate sitting in front of my wonderfully satisfied looking husband...I'm thinking the greek omelet was out of the park. Honey dew lovers beware..the coffee isn't up to our standards but I think d&d peeps will be fine. Check out the picture of the swarm of people who came at the waitress that brought out the platter of coffee for them as they waited on line, it was quite interesting to experience first-hand. We were able to tell one of the staff members that we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and they asked us to comment about them at a similar place like yelp - and I told them that I had already started a yelp review - and although they didn't have such a great star rating, we opted to try them out. And we were happily full and satisfied and that would be reflected in our stars (hence the 5 star rating) Mary Beth came out and gave us a card and thanked us for stopping in. It was nice. I would go so far as to say, that it would be worth a trip to Tyngsboro on a nice Saturday or Sunday morning... The manager yelled at us in the parking lot as we were trying to leave.. Came in for brunch for the first time since they've reopened and received subpar service and food neither one of us enjoyed (I hated my meal and just ate the fries). We had to flag down another waitress after not being able to find ours to get drink refills and condiments and both orders came with mistakes. When the bill however came I still left a 25% tip and never sent any of the food back or complained because I'm also in the industry and I understand how hard this pandemic has made it for us. I left the tip in cash after paying with a card and handed it directly to our waitress. On the way back to our car the manager chased us out in the parking lot to question us about the service and accuse us of not tipping by yelling at us across the lot. Not sure if the waitresses are pooling tips and our waitress pocketed the cash I handed her for herself but I will never return here after being publicly yelled by the staff outside. read more

Every now and then I think I must exist in alternate universe. Perhaps some of the other reviewers got lost and *thought* they were at the Dream Diner when they were actually somewhere say, in Russia. Or lower Mongolia. Here's the thing: I've been to Dream Diner twice in two weeks. The first time by myself, the second time with a gaggle of friends who didn't quite believe my raving about the Dream Diner. Frankly, it's my new favorite place. If you don't like reading the summary: amazing staff, delicious and creative food, friendly atmosphere. If you like reading: I was driving about looking for a place to eat and walked in to the Dream Diner knowing nothing about it. I walked through the door and waitress calls me "Hun." I like being called Hun. But then, MaryBeth, the owner, asks my name, tells everyone in the place it's my first time, and then introduces me, by name, to everyone at the bar. Two weeks later I come back and MaryBeth and all her staff remember my name. From the moment I walk through the door. The staff all work together, laughing, joking, and talking. Sort of like a crazy family gathering where you actually like your family members. The food is delicious and creative. My faves: sweet potato pancakes with bananas and white chocolate chips, cinnamon roll french toast and eggs benedict with slices of ham as thick as toast. The prices are reasonable. Today I took three friends and our bill for four, including beverages, mains and sides, just $13 a person for brunch. Doreen, the superstar server, told us that Saturday nights the Dream Diner hosts a classic car show averaging 90 cars in the giant parking lot. Haven't been yet but will go. Dream Diner gets my five stars. Someone else subtracted half a star for crumbs on the floor. Frankly, if you're looking at the floor and not the smiling, laughing staff and your fellow diners enjoying a delicious meal, you're probably in need of a nap for your grumpy self. read more
