As an out of towner, my first experience at Dreamwave Coffee was everything I hoped for. Most importantly, the coffee was delicious, but what surprised us the most is how reasonably the prices were. To top it off, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere/aesthetics were top notch. We ordered an iced 12oz of the High Tide (Coconut + Vanilla) and a Vanilla Latte. The coconut flavor was VERY mild, but still enjoyable and the latte was solid. If we hadn't eaten breakfast earlier in the morning, we definitely would've eaten here. It smelled more like diner than a coffee shop with the seductive scent of bacon filling the small space. Dreamwave Coffee is a charming coffee shop that deserves to be on your morning hit list!

My family and I have been wanting to try this place, and we are so glad he did! We got to meet the owner Mike, who was so funny and kind. You can tell that he is truly passionate about his craft! A lot of care goes into his shop! From the drinks, to the food, and the nostalgic games to play in the corner. An additional sweet thing is that he has Pokémon bulk cards for kids, which is so fun! Our son was so excited! This is a must try!!!

I absolutely love this adorable coffee shop. It's located on El Camino Real in the CVS shopping center. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The tables are very cute in pink with scallop edging. They serve regular coffee as well as specialty drinks and simple breakfast. I like the Silly Old Bear because it has honey and cinnamon. I always order hot coffee. Oddly, it was served not very hot. I would call it lukewarm. That was my only complaint. Everything else was wonderful. They even sell their own merch, which is really cute.

I came in on a Saturday morning around 915am and this place was booming with customers. Luckily I made it a couple minutes early before they had another line out the door. First impression of this place is the cleanliness and how retro and chic it looks. This coffee joint definitely catches your attention. Merch, flowers, customized coffee cups (my favorite)...I definitely get the Carlsbad feel from this place. I decided to order the "Big Hot Mess" breakfast sandwich that did not disappoint on a brioche bun. I got recommended their "High Tide" signature drink which is one of their popular ones. Make sure you stir your drink completely so you can get the whole taste. If you like your coffee on the bitter side but with a hint of coconut then this drink is for you. Despite how busy the ladies were this morning they were extremely helpful and quickly got orders out. Thank you!

Came here for the Elite event. So good! Just down the road from my house. Walked in and was pleasantly greeted with a smile and good morning. Everyone in the shop was kind and friendly even with them being busy! The coffee was actually delicious (unlike those mainstream places) as was the breakfast sando. I'll definitely be back to this groovy little coffee shop. Oh! Also picked up this little hand knit Koozie as a gift for someone:)

What a cute spot tucked in this shopping center! We ordered an iced high tide latte (coconut vanilla) and the wake & bacon sandwich. The syrups and sauces are made in-house, and you could totally taste the difference - I have to ask for extra chipotle sauce next time! My drink was perfectly sweet and creamy, and the employees were so kind and generous, even with the crazy line this morning. I'll be back to try the honey cinnamon latte :))

We were really excited to try this place. Everytime we go somewhere we love to try a local coffee shop. I got the high tide and my boyfriend got a vanilla latte. Not flavorful. I could taste as if the coffee grounds were burnt. We didnt enjoy our coffees sadly.

The wife wanted a breakfast sandwich and we found this little cute spot in Carlsbad. First walking in, cute little store, was a little busy so you know it's good. They sell swag as well if you're interested. I ordered the wake and bacon sandwich, the person taking my order was super nice and sure to explain to me about any questions like what the drip coffee of the day was. My coffee came out pretty quick and it was hot, had to blow into the top a few tops to make sure I didn't burn my mouth. After a few moments my food came out after. Took a quick picture outside with my coffee, then took a bite. The bun wasn't over cooked or hard and the bacon was pretty good with the cheddar. Overall service was good, about 4-5 people working and constantly making food and drinks. The establishment was overall clean and I even saw a little kid station that young ones could pretend to be a barista. Overall happy with the service, coffee tasted great and food was yum! Drop by if you're in the area, won't be disappointed.

Wow the ube syrup was soooo good!!! My boyfriend got a latte with the ube syrup and I got an oat milk matcha latte with ube syrup. The combination was the perfect amount of sweetness, and the drink overall was refreshing and creamy. The last time I ordered the matcha, it tasted just like milk, really lacking the matcha flavor. They've definitely improved their recipe because the oat milk matcha had such good matcha flavor. Will definitely be coming again

- plaza parking so there's plenty of spots even on a weekend afternoon! - such a cool 90s inspired space (had street fighter you can play!) with thoughtfully designed merch - great and friendly service! - really cool and unique variety of drinks and syrups as well! I stuck to a classic iced caramel latte to taste their espresso and syrups - 10/10 drink - really strong yet smooth espresso that blended so well with that silky sweet (but not too sweet) caramel

Just had the El Santo again, this time the 16 oz (with oat milk) which I was told now has 4 shots of espresso!! Never had that many, so game on!! So good! Also got the wake and bacon with the chipotle on the side and that was sooo good too! I don't usually like chipotle but this was the best chipotle I've ever had! Less smokey more spicy but perfect amount of spicy! Great way to start the day! Yay! :) Staff is very nice and restroom super clean!

We just recently moved to Oceanside from Long Beach and it's been tough to find a location around here that has good matcha, but dreamwave has the best matcha I've ever had. The owner is so nice and told us the whole menu and the coolest part is the fact that they make their own syrups so the coconut vanilla matcha was SO good like omg. Allie did an amazing job making it. We also got the Horchata Latte and it was also so good and they roast their own beans so the flavor profile is just amazing, so thank you to Rubi for making that so good. We also got the Wake & Bacon and it's on a bagel and the sauce is just amazing, all together 10/10 experience for this coffee shop. We will be coming back no doubt. would love to preface this review that i have been working in the speciality coffee industry and hospitality industry for the last ten years. i hold a lot of space for shops all along the wide range of quality and the coffee grading scale. however our visit here this morning was a pretty huge let down. we came in and met with a wafting smell of burnt food and a turbo chef that either needs a deep clean or lacks ventilation. one of the best parts of a coffee shop is the incredible natural aroma of coffee, but this was a very unpleasant welcoming. the barista at pos was friendly but it took us a few minutes to order due to him making food for other orders. we ordered a range of items to really get a good impression of the shop; a shot of espresso, a pour over, and a sweet iced latte. we ordered all items for here and our iced lattes came out very quickly and i was surprised it wasn't served with the espresso but didn't think much of it. i saw them making our pour over when i picked up the latte. 15 minutes goes by and we don't have our pour over, we checked in after another 5 and they had to completely restart our pour over and that took another 15 minutes to come out, and then it was served to go and we still didn't have our espresso. we stayed for a total of 55 minutes after ordering and never received our espresso. on our way out i waited in line to ask for a refund on the spro, after the person on pos said out loud that we did not get it a voice on espresso says "it's literally down here. it's been sitting on the bar" my partner and i looked at each other and then the person on pos and said "no worries we don't want it anymore" and we left. when a guest has to remind you of two beverages you should absolutely at the very least make sure they hear you when you call our the remake but truly, you should be running it out to them. couldn't tell you much about their espresso considering we didn't get to try it, but the drip coffee was over extracted and not good. the latter just tasted like low quality cinnamon and zero honey. overall, the cafe felt super run down and not a place i would ever want to hangout at. read more

Walked in and was immediately welcomed! Such great vibes and super cute interior. What really got me excited was how all syrups are made in house and all the yummy and fun flavors that were on the menu! We ordered the orange cinnamon matcha and honey cinnamon matcha and they are soooo yummy!! Both flavors are not too sweet and perfectly complement the matcha flavor! Definitely my new favorite spot and I can't wait to try new flavors in the future! read more

Despite being extremely busy on the weekend, baristas do not rush you and are more than happy to recommend drinks to ensure you get what you like. Love they roast there own beans, I got Americano with splash of milk. Will definitely be back if in area :) read more

Coming across Dreamwave was such a nice surprise on this Sunday afternoon. We just moved to the area, were unpacking, and needed some extra caffeine to power thru the day. Found it randomly off google map and LOVED it! (Given we are somewhat picky coffee drinkers. The taste of the espresso and the texture of the milk matter a lot.) My husband ordered a 12oz hot latte, which is our routine drink. I felt a bit adventurous and ordered a coconut vanilla latte as recommended by the sweet cashier. Both drinks aced the taste. The medium roast coffee carries a balanced flavor. The milk was properly steamed. Smooth and silky texture just at the right temperature. (Hot, but not too hot that you can't even drink.) Also My latte has a nice toasty coconut flavor. Just mildly sweet which was great cuz it didn't overpower the coffee. Was told they do specialized coffee and make syrups from scratch. Love love love and will go again soon! read more

Amazing new favorite shop Such intentional choices from Mikes art, the music is rad, the space is super fun and the coffee is truly unlike anywhere else rn! Found this place awhile back before it opened and talked to the owner, very cool guy and I loved the idea of the shop. Finally went by today to go get a matcha latte and it didn't disappoint! Just came in earlier this afternoon to work on some Christmas gifts, and was warmly greeted by the staff: Riley, Christina, and Allie. They were all so wonderful and made my partner and I the most delicious Honey Cinnamon latte, as well as Brown Sugar Rosemary latte. All the syrups are house made! I ordered my Honey Cinnamon latte with oat milk, and the oat milk did not overpower the overall drink. I loved the look of the shop as well! Very whimsical and fantastical with cyclops, wolves, dragons, and more. Also a big fan of the Wizard Barge artwork in the restroom. Cannot wait to come back! read more

I think this is the best decorated, most unique, and tastiest coffee shop in north county. The owner knows what he's talking about and can walk you through the unique and fun menu. He remembered my name right off the bat and made sure I was having a great experience from the minute I walked in. The barista that was working alongside him made some of the most delicious coffee/tea drinks I've ever had. I took down both of the drinks they made in less than a minute (to be honest I think they should get rid of the eight ounce sizes altogether because you will always want more than that). The drinks are unique, but still coffee forward, and you can tell a lot of thought was put into the creation of each drink. I also got a breakfast sandwich with house made chipotle sauce and honestly I can't wait to come back and get it again. The design and layout of the store is amazing. There is something to look at on every wall. I'm not really into buying merch or get sold on packaging, but this Midnight Gospel/Steven Universe set in the 80s had me. I bought beans (to drink) but also to display at home on my coffee bar Phenomenal experience and I've been to every north county coffee shop, and there really is nothing like this and we NEEDED IT. read more

first time trying this new coffee shop and I have to say it's one of the best places I have been to in north county! My friend and I both got the wake and bacon sandwich and it was so good that chipotle sauce was bomb! I highly recommend the coconut vanilla latte and my friend got the coconut vanilla matcha (ceremonial grade). The owner was super friendly and the staff was amazing! Highly recommend! read more

Treated two of my valued clients to a visit to Dream Wave Coffee this morning. Dream Wave has a refreshingly unique and yummy drink selection, especially the matcha drinks and the lattes! One of us ordered the macadamia nut latte, I ordered my favorite coconut vanilla latte (as I love coconut and vanilla~and because I know they make their own syrups and flavorings, I know the quality cannot be beat). My other client is a huge matcha fan, and she was soooo happy! She shared that it was the best matcha she ever had. We also couldn't help ourselves and also ordered the mouthwatering breakfast sandwiches. We enjoyed our entire experience while enjoying the cozy patio surrounded by palms and appreciating the outdoor seating and cool morning breezes~ not a better coffee shop in N. County- either on the coast, nor inland! If you have not been, you are missing out! I no longer care to get a coffee anywhere else but Dream Wave. Thanks Dream Wave for a refreshing NEW coffee experience all the way around-from the cozy, warm and inviting interior to the shady patio with comfortable tables and chairs....what a concept! Food is great, drinks are delicious, and the vibe/decor is pleasantly nostalgic. Service has always been top notch. I appreciate the community involvement as well with the monthly local makers markets (2nd Saturday of each month). Supporting a local small business is icing on the cake. Years ago, I approached a friend and asked if he’d teach me how to roast. I’ve always loved coffee and wanted to learn. Ever since walking into my first Dark Horse back in 2014, I knew I wanted to open a shop of my own. As a dad of two, my job is to model and lead by example. I don’t want to just tell my kids to follow their dreams — I want to show them how to achieve them. Dreamwave is for you. You, please enjoy.

What I wanted to shoutout in particular was the stellar customer service we received. We visited today, on 8/22, around 11am. I wish we would have gotten the barista's name who rang us up- but he was just spectacular. My mom has an autoimmune disease and some days are just harder than others in terms of us getting out of the house and enjoying some mother-daughter time. He really seemed genuine in his interaction, particularly with my mom, and it made her morning. Thank you kind sir for your heart and kindness- I want you to know that you made an impact!

The hours on Yelp show them open only one morning a week, and their own web site suggests you call ahead to request a tasting or cupping session. I missed that part and found a locked door. At home, though, their beans make some really tasty coffee in our automated espresso machine. To get the best balance, I first coarsened the grind but ultimately reduced the brewing temp a bit. Definite notes of cocoa and dark chocolate. We buy online. Beans are shipped UPS with tracking. Online ordering from their web site may be the easiest way to find out what Coatl has to offer.
