I've been using this location a long time. Last year I took a car in and they came back with a lot of repairs needed. It didn't sound right so I got a second opinion. The estimate was over $5000. The second opinion was you don't need any of that but you do need about $100 worth of work. I called corporate and talked to the area manager who said he would look into it and they don't do business that way. Please give us another chance. I took another car in for an oil change. They said I needed necessary maintenance because it was do. I looked in the manual and the car wasn't old enough and had half the mileage listed before manufacture recommended maintenance. I took the car back to the dealer and nope. Not time for that. I took another car in due for oil and inspection. And again a list of necessary things. Again not due. We have used Driver's Edge for a few years for our older model vehicles. Why? They are fast, they are responsive, they are so very kind. When everyone else is sacrificing customer attentiveness right now, these friends are so courteous. While we do admit the repair prices are higher, if you have a vehicle emergency and do not have the liberty to shop around, but you need help- they drop everything to help you. Spent well over a thousand replacing headlight , light assembly, and ballast only to have the same headlight problem reoccurring. They never diagnosed the issue properly and fixed it... Don't spend your money here they will only extract more money out of you and not fix the problem. Here's a tip. If you see there's condensation in the light replace it after you've figured out the reason for the issue instead of continuing to charge. Very easy to walk away from your responsibility of fixing the issue after you've been paid twice!!! read more

This place took care of me! I have been looking for that quality place I can go and that is reasonable in price when it comes to tires. Wade and Joe took super good care of me and they even helped me find a rattle under my care under my car that I could not find. They found it just because they were super cool. Their whole team is amazing and to be honest, I'm not sure why I would buy my tires elsewhere...thanks for the great customer service! To the whole team, not just Wade and Joe. Had a scheduled appointment for an alignment and brake check. I was able to use a 10% coupon discount I received in the mail. They have a waiting room but no outlets available to plug in to work while waiting. Unfortunately, there's not a Starbucks or McDonald's next to the building to plug in and use WiFi or charge your device. We were looking for an honest ,dependable and affordable auto shop close by. I saw the sign went in and told the guy at the desk( Randy) what we were looking for. He said no problem I'll check it out for free, we take care of our customers ... Etc. So we brought the car back for repair and a promise of no more squeaky brakes. Well what do you know. The next day Randy called and said the front were squeezing also! Wow I wonder how you could have missed that. So we agreed to do the front also for an extra $250. Upon picking the car up we were charged $. 300 for the front! Of course we were given the run around. I'd hoped we had found a shop but we're definitely lied to and deceived. I recommend you shop around diligently before finding a repair shop. Since they made good on the above by doing some free work and dismissing the guy who instigated it I thought I'd give them, another chance when my ac broke I took it in, left it all day and called at 530. Still hadn't got to it but said their ac guy would look in the morning. I went up the next day and they gave me a bunch of suspicious sounding bs. All I can say is scam and go support your local mechanics as they are not going to up charge and provide you with inaccurate information and try to get you to purchase unneeded services. We brought in 3 cars, 2 for inspections and the 3rd was an old truck that needed a full work up. They quoted over $5000 for a laundry list of work. $500 of that was just to diagnose the work. Ended up going to a local mechanic and the work was $300 and found out that they quoted us a few items that were not broken and/or in need of fixing. I'm no mechanic myself so I'm not sure who is right but I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the local guy wants to earn business and have you return so it's not worth throwing money on things that don't need it. I suggest that this shop run more ethically as of course the mechanics themselves are the not the problem but the management. They are located in an affluent area of Allen so people may pay more for convenience but should not be scammed about what needs service. Glad I did not get hoodwinked as I have taken my business elsewhere. read more

Be forewarned...Took my truck for inspection and they failed it because the passenger side wiper "didn't clean enough"...ok, I'll give them that one, but then put pressure on me to change the battery which was a little low but working fine. declined and they insisted, I declined and they tried again. I had some issues with my car shaking. Employee at front seemed knowledgable. I suspected drive train, but also told him to do diagnostic. They ran diagnostic and found a couple things. $2900 later on my drive home still shaking. Took it to another place and they went on a drive with me and then lifted it and showed me cracked struts and cv joints. This took 10 minutes. These mechanic are lazy and take easy expensive way out. On top of that I now have an oil leak I previously didn't have from valve cover they changed. Do not waste your time here! read more

Took our car in to see what was going on with it. They did a very good overall walkthrough, of what was going on with the vehicle, and what needed to be fixed. And even tho we did not have the funds to replace the parts that were needed at the time, they told us that we could take the vehicle free of charge without having to pay for labor or anything. A lot of thing we're wrong with my vehicle and it didn't not take them long to figure out everything that was needed for it. Very reliable, very responsive, and a good group of workers. read more

They were very nice however the price for parts and labor was more than DOUBLE what another mainstream company was going to charge. The staff is honest so it was great to know that I was being over charged on emissions when he told me he only had to charge me $7 instead of the $25 I expected to pay because I had a newer car. I drove in one day because my tire was low on pressure no hassle or anything pulled me in checked everything and got it taken care of. My oil changes are done within 20 minutes. I stopped by there for the first time because I received the coupon for $49.95 synthetic oil change. When I arrived, they want $100 for oil change because I have a Silverado. I told them that is more expensive than the Chevrolet dealership with free car wash so they agreed to lower the price to $70. I decided to give them a chance. They told me it would be around 2 hours. I left my truck off at 1:35pm. I went back at 4pm and my truck was still at the same spot I left it. I wasted 2.5 hours and they still have not touched my car. Over priced and poor value. Charged $900 to change plugs and wires. Book time for this service is 1.1 hrs, they charged 2.5 hrs labor. Installed AC Delco iridium plugs which list price is $11 per plug, they charged $33/plug or $260 for a set of 8 vs. $92 list price for a set of 8. No additional service checks were made either, such as checking fluid levels, wipers, air filter, etc. Very poor value for the prices they charge. Will be not be a returning customer. read more

My truck needed a new head gasket. I showed up to Driver's Edge off McDermott and the gentleman inside, Garrett, was very calm and knowledgeable. He listened to me and helped me understand what was going on with my vehicle. The repair was relatively quick, considering the work needed to be done, and I got a call to come pick it up 6 days after I dropped it off. Their repair shop closes at 6pm, I get off work a little after 6. Garrett stayed until 6:45 so that I would be able to get my truck back. I shopped around for a rear drum brake job and an oil change, and I almost passed on these guys because they were a little higher on price. I wish that I had. I had originally posted a very favorable review, but I then found myself about 200 miles from home, in freezing rain, in the dark, and my engine making unhealthy noises. The tech who did the oil change forgot to re-install the oil cap, and almost three quarts of oil had slung out of the engine and all over the engine compartment, hood underside and insulator, front suspension, and underside of my car. I called and spoke to Toby, the Asst Manager, and he told me to put oil in it, save the receipts, and bring the car to him and they would fix it and make it right for me. I hung up the phone and went into the funeral home. We got back home Saturday afternoon and I took the car to the shop. Apparently Toby did not tell the manager what had happened. The manager assured me that they would make it right and told me to bring it back Tuesday morning (Christmas Eve) and leave it with them, and they would clean everything up and replace the oil soaked parts. Fair enough. Tuesday morning came and we dropped the car off. While working on it, tech was sent to do a bank run and a lunch run. Not feeling confident about their commitment to resolving this today. Tech was the same kid who left the cap off and that was fine, until he chose to leave the exhaust shield in the compartment and just move it around to clean rathe than unplug the O2 sensor and remove the shield. I persuaded him that it was safer to remove it. I called for status, Toby gave me a time, and I gave him an extra twenty minutes "just in case." I almost had to drag him out to look at the car with me. I asked Toby when they were going to finish, he said they had. Indeed, the new serpentine belt was in place and the new under-hood insulator blanket was also there. The first problem is that there were still several pools of oil in the compartment. Wen I asked why he did not inspect the tech's work, Toby said he had. When I asked why there was still so much oil, Tony said there was no oil in there other than what was in the engine. I then stuck my index finger into a puddle of oil on the engine and it came out oiled halfway up my fingernail. I pointed out numerous other places the tech neglected, all of which were a surprise to Toby. So much for his inspection. He did reassure me that there was no more smoke from the slung oil. Toby told me to come back Thursday morning and they will make it right. I wished him a Merry Christmas rather than getting into how I really felt about him making it right. We can deal with this Thursday. As I walked back to my car, Toby drove off. I still cannot find the spare key I left with Toby, the one on the long USMC lanyard, the one he was supposed to lay in the trunk when they locked my car. Car was not locked, either. When I got into my car, I started getting queasy as I drove. The car reeks of cigarette smoke. Probably because they smoke in the shop, car windows were open, and the shop doors closed because it is cold outside. Thanks a lot! Opened the sunroof,cracked the windows, and took the ventilation off "recirculating" to get fresh air through the car in hopes of getting rid of tobacco stench. Tobacco smell was soon replaced by smell of burning oil. So far, I was late to a funeral, had my wife get ill from fumes, had my car smelling like an ashtray, wasted almost five hours of my time(so far) as a direct result of their incompetence. I am left wondering to what extent I will need to go to get this matter resolved equitably. Yes, I will be going back, and Rob and I are going to have a heart to heart. Yes, they are going to make this right, but the question that remains is what I will have to do to get them to move past the "talking" part and into the actual "doing" part. So, I brought it back and Rob took ownership. They had the engine compartment detailed and they did some further cleaning to try to get rid of the burring oil fumes. They even changed the cabin air filter in case it had so much oil fumes in it that it contributed to the smell in the car. Unfortunately, it appears that they left the lights on as they worked on the car, running it all the way down to zero. I imagine the put it on a charger just long enough to get it to start but not long enough to do anything meaningful. Perhaps they were fearful that I would see that they bungled this, too, and would think they were that much more incompetent. After Rob said the car was ready, we looked at it. He said he ran it and smelled no fumes. I told him that the car needed a good 15-20 minute warm up to get to where the fumes would start flowing into the cabin. I locked the car, left it there, and told them I would pick it up later that evening. Battery was dead, needed a jump, clock and radio settings gone. Time for a new battery since they drained it to zero. read more

Be aware of the type of business you'll be working with if you take your car and hard earned money to this "repair shop". Still remember them telling me on my follow-up visit after the initial brake job that just because the items were on the receipt (that they claimed had been done when I paid) didn't mean that is actually what they had done. Someone answered and sounded motivated to answer the phone and talk. His name was Joe. Told me he would have me in and out in 30 min. When I arrived, clean atmosphere. Greeted me cordially. Joe was the same gentleman who checked me in and checked me out. It was a great experience and the cost was so reasonable as well. Will definitely get my other cars inspected there as well. Drove to town from OKC for youth travel hockey. Saturday morning before the games noticed the Rover lost the front right air bag. We had plenty of team mates to get the kids to the rink but I had to stay to try to get it fixed so we could get home Saturday night. Dealership said it would be after Christmas so I called around. Talked to Garek and he said he would do all he could to help us. Garek kept me up to date during the entire process. IMPRESSED! I own 4 vehicles and have been to almost every shop in the Allen / Plano area in the last 15+ years of living here. By far these are the real deal mechanics. 1st time I arrived I had a check engine light just come on and was skeptical but a lady in the waiting room told me she had been to like 5 other places this was the least expensive and she had used them a few times. (that made me relax a bit) only because I was coming off of using Bumper to Bumper and given them so much money to get my car back sounding / driving worse then when I came in. This guys have been a breath of fresh air! Chris was who helped me originally and is just a blast to talk to. Plus he listen to me ramble on about something that wasn't even car related while he gave me a ride back home so I wouldn't have to sit and wait. (which I absolutely hate to do) I have also brought my sons car in which a a Mustang that always has issues. Which the issues it had were going to be costly on the 3rd repair (serpentine belt wrapped around the compressor had to have it towed up there) and we didn't have enough to cover it. Toby (general manager) applied coupons and everything he could do to get it to an affordable repair Great customer services .. This review is coming after about 4-5 repairs at this shop over a 6 month period, I have learned to hold my reviews and wait to see that its consistent with repairs and service over time. My faith in mechanics has been restored by the fine people at this shop in Allen, TX. After more than 15 years of vehicles, from all kinds of makes & models I have seen a mechanic shop a time or two. Some times good, sometimes not so good. This is probably...as a matter of fact this is the best resolution I have ever received. It took a little effort, but this company stood by their customer satisfaction policy. Believe me, when I write, I am a satisfied customer. Some unfinished business on the part of another shop left me without a vehicle for a couple of weeks. Upon hearing of this at the corporate level they notified a regional associate. Mr. Kent at this location made everything right. Better than right they made me happy, made my day as a matter of fact. They came to my location, towed my vehicle made the necessary repairs & then delivered my vehicle back to my house at their own expense. All within about 3 hours. This is the best service I have every received from a Auto Shop. After a slightly sketchy start with another spot these guys & the very helpful Liz at the corporate office made me smile. I can't speak for any other garages in town though I would recommend giving this location in Allen, TX a try if you need quality service, performed timely & at a low cost. Not long after completing my review on yelp, I received a message indicating a manager will contact me to discuss my concerns regarding this particular shop. At this moment, I have yet to receive any communication. This only furthers my point. Either Drivers Edge is okay with: lying to customers, or they have managers who are not competent enough to carry out their duties and responsibilities, or the manager lied and said they reached out and didn't. Either way, the failure continues. You can't make this kind of stuff up. As I stated before, perhaps they are upset that I choose NOT to be overcharged. As you can see in the picture, the pricing for the part alone is $384.97. I purchased the part myself for $69.95. If you do the math, that's a 450% mark up from the $69.95 cost!!!! INSANE!!!! Nevertheless, you get the picture. If you didn't believe me at first, now you can see for yourselves. No need for a manager to call me at this point. Not interested in being lied to any further. Over $600 in repairs and 3 days later my entire wheel housing falls off( ball and pin but no pin) . They say they will cover all repair costs, towing and rental. I will go in to this with positive intent with the confidence they will do right. More to come tomorrow when they call me with next steps. So far they covered the towing. The manager says they will cover my rental and make good all all repairs. If so my faith is restored in people and Drivers Edge as my go to repairs for life. So a 5 star for now. Day 2.
