My partner took our car here for an inspection because it was near his work. It failed inspection, and they cited $900 in repair for leaky power steering, hoses, and burnt out bulbs. The bulbs we didn't argue (I mean, they work or they don't -- right?) but the power steering sounded fishy. It had felt fine to drive, after all. So we took it to our usual mechanic to get it looked at, and the power steering was fine! So we had him replace bulbs and just do normal high-mileage maintenance (just fluid flush and fill, etc) and it passed inspection JUST FINE. Get a second opinion, these guys are SHADY! read more

It's all about the Money at this place! I was driving down McDermott and my car just cuts off at the light. Not but luck I was able to restart and pulled into Drivers Edge. The guy at the front desk could have cared less that I amount caused an accident. He wouldn't even do a test to check the error codes or to at least seem helpful. I prefer not to be writing this review since I have a 7 1/2 drive to New Orleans tomorrow, but I felt compelled to response. I took two cars into Driver's Edge in Allen for only an oil change with oil filter. I told Alex that we were going on a trip so we wanted to make sure all fluids were topped off. He confirmed that was included with the 23-point inspection. Alex tells me that the manufactured requires brake system hydraulic fluid service or brake system with OEM at 69.99. My car is at 57,000 miles. (This statement is not true, Hyundai only suggest interval to inspect for this service.) It is time for the coolant to be flushed which he suggested at 89.99 another 3,000 miles, that was fine. He suggested that I change the dirty air engine filter (which was white clean) and the air cabin filter which was dirty and needed to be changed. The low score is not because of the up sale on two items that were not required. The score is because he had one primary responsibility which was to change my oil. I checked my oil and air filters on both cars when I arrived home at 5PM. The oil on my Sonata was on low because they never filled to the full level. My wiper fluid required a pint of fluid on the Sante Fe and 8 oz on the Sonata. The response by the manager on the windshield wiper fluid was, "it was the foaming up of the fluid". I responded " a pint low!" I asked the technician how was it even possible to give me my car back on low oil after an oil change. His response was they probably just followed the manufacture quantity that was listed in their manual. Excuse me! Unbelievable, I cannot make this stuff up. And remember I have a 7 1/2 trip tomorrow. They did add about ¾ of a bottle to get it to full. So when I get back to Allen on the 27th of this month, I will take both cars to my Hyundai dealership in Plano who normally does my work, and I will have them complete the oil change on both cars all over again. If skilled technicians don't have enough common sense to check the full level after an oil change, who know what else is wrong with their work. read more

Took my car in to this location for an oil change. The man working the desk kept trying to say multiple parts needed to be replaced (said front axle was greasy and leaking transmission fluid). We took it to the dealer (my car is fairly new and still under warranty) and lo and behold... No problem with anything (the dealership had two mechanics check per my request). Yesterday I went here for an oil change. I was having a really bad day and the manager Mark could tell I had been upset. He made jokes to make laugh and gave me all around 5 star service. I don't live near there at all just was in the area and I will definitely make the drive to do all my oil changes there from now on. I've never been more impressed with the way people go out of their way to make someone feel good. All around good people over there. Definitely recommend!!! read more

It's easy to find a good mechanic. What's not easy is finding a consistently solid one that you can trust for all of your vehicle needs across the board. Joe and company really make you feel like you're in good hands when you drop your car off. Whether it's a simple inspection or oil change, or you need your brakes repaired, it's cleared they have your best interest in mind and aren't just trying to get a bunch of money out of you. They're very clear about what must be done now, and what can be done later. Their customer service is top notch and they even remembered me on each of my returning visits. They offer most services excluding tires, so they're the only shop I've trusted to work on mine or my wife's vehicles. Went here this week- had car problems on my way to work and they helped me by towing my car (within 1 hour) and then by providing complementary car service to get from work to home AND back to their store before closing! I would highly recommend using them because they provide efficient and friendly service! Depending on the amount of work necessary and parts needed... I can't say if they overcharge or not? I felt that due to my situation- lack of time, money for a cab and urgency- this business did More than I would expect & a fair price to boot!! read more

People tend to take advantage of my senior citizen mother and this place is no exception. She wanted to go there because of a coupon mailer for brakes. They gave her a ride home while they inspected the brakes. Mind you, I had already taken the car to the dealer and another repair shop. Driver's Edge on McDermott reported back to my mother that because Nissian makes rotors too thin to resurface, that they needed to be replaced, as well as the brake pads. What a bunch of hog wash! Even the dealership had quoted a "resurfacing" (yep, they are $ hungry too)! So the coupon for DE for $79 turned into a bill of over $380! I then have her take it to a place I trust, even though they just changed ownership in Jan. I have had the same good honest service since the takeover and to test them (as I know the rotors do not need resurfacing) I send her there. She pulls in, says she needs her front brakes replaced and she is out in about an hour at about a third of the cost! $136 with lifetime warranty! They did not try to swindle a senior woman as I had hoped and expected! She asked about the roters and was told they were still in good condition! Thank you! Formally Oil Depot on E. I have a Nissan Versa and my brakes are making a shaking noise when stopped. I have not taken it to Driver's Edge and nor will I EVER!!!! I was actually planning on taking it there Friday of this week, but after reading all the HORRIBLE reviews, I will not step foot in this place ever. Auto Mechanics already have a bad reputation because of places exactly like this. You think you can rip customers off and you use to be able to. It's the information age and this no longer rings true. You are already out of business. You just don't realize it yet. My husband took his car for an oil change, however when he got there they found that he needed a gasket and something else. So, we have little money so they offered him an in house financing. Well my husband got denied. My husband called me to see if I could get approved. Meanwhile, Joe Torregano is telling my husband that they can definitely fix his car. My husband asked Joe if he needed the VIN number, Joe told him No they did not need the VIN number. When I got there Joe was very pleasant and professional. He guided me to sit behind the desk and apply for the credit card. Bam, I'm approved. Mind you now Joe once again told me the car can be fixed. My husband and I left the car there and went home. One hour later, Joe called my husband and told him they cannot fix this particular model Volkswagen. I immediately got very irritated. I asked Joe why didn't you check the car before you let me get my credit ran? He could not say anything. I went to the better business bureau and put in a complaint. I called there finance company CFNA and they told me that since I agreed to the application they cannot do anything. Even though it was done under false pretense. Joe lied straight to our faces, he said they could fix my husband's car, but that wasn't the case. So, if you go there and friendly Joe tell you about financing, be sure, be very sure they can do the repairs before they run your credit. "WOMEN BEWARE!" I went there to have them look at the windows on my car. They found that it had a factory recall so I paid them $120.00 just to look at it. I later found out the employee wrote off service as zero and pocketed the cash. The management and owner are aware of the situation, but they don't care about you as a customer. They are just worried about their own pockets. If you want to be treated like garbage and get ripped off at the same time please come here. read more

Excellent customer service. Broke my side mirror(luckily my glass was not cracked).visited 3 places and everybody's pushing for replacing entire part. Part and labor would cost me 300$. My wife took our van for oil change, the work order said oil change was completed. For a simple nut that was loose, they said oil is leaking from the oil pan, quoted $350 for nothing. I found this out when I took my van to my trusted friend. Turns out that they didn't even change oil, but got paid. David was very courteous and knowledgeable, and seemed to go above and beyond his duty. Not a positive experience! We needed to tow the car to another shop. Showed up to wait for tow truck and went inside to get keys. Guy told us someone got the keys! I asked who as myself nor my husband got them. Manager came in and looked at my son and said you put them in console! Uh yeah no! He was with me! He got his backpack out of unlocked car!
