I went to lunch last Sunday at the Yorkhouse Tavern. The restaurant is tucked away in a bigger building and off of a golf course. I think it could be the club house for the course but I'm not sure. The food was delicious. Service wasn't great. There was only one server working and two guys who seemed to work in the front of the house but couldn't stir themselves to do more than provide menus and ask how the meal was going. Then they sat around watching football while the one server was running off her feet trying take care of everything. I was so frustrated on her behalf, but as a customer not happy about needing to wait on a check. I don't think I'll go back any time soon. read more

First, they were understaffed, so some lady who had never waitressed was standing in and helping out her friend. Very friendly but disjointed. I asked for iced tea and she put a teabag in a glass of ice water. We ate dinner on Friday evening for the fish fry. The restaurant is nice and clean. There's a combination of high top and low tables plus bar seating. The food was glorified bar food and we were disappointed. The cod dinner had 4 small pieces of cod sitting in butter. The coleslaw and mashed potatoes were delicious. The fried shrimp (beer battered) dinner included coleslaw and we ordered the french fries. The shrimp was plump and juicy but there was too much batter. The flavor was good. If you see the restaurant sign from the road, but then see an assisted living facility, don't fret, you're in the right place. Just drive to the left (north) side of the assisted living facility. You'll see an entrance that says, "Encore & Tavern". Walk in the doors, make a left and walk down the steps and there's the Yorkhouse Tavern & Table. We came because we heard the burgers are good, but started with the cheese curds and garlic parm wings. The wings were flavorful, big and juicy. The curds were not overly battered and were stretchy soft on the inside. They were made perfectly. We ordered these as appetizers and told them to bring out before our burgers. They did, but brought out our burgers immediately after they brought the wings. So our advice is to order your appetizers and when finished, then put in your dinner orders. We each got burgers. One with cheddar cheese, one with American cheese and the third with havarti cheese. Each burger's cheese was melted perfectly. The burgers were cooked to our liking: medium, were tasty, with a hint of pepper, and the brioche buns held up. Two of us got tots instead of fries (which were recommended) and added cheese sauce and bacon. The cheese sauce was good, and wasn't drenched on the tots which were also made to perfection with enough crisp on the outside and soft potato inside. Our third burger eater got crispy onion straws instead of fries which ended up being pieces of onion rings and full onion rings. They were nicely fried with not too much breading to overwhelm the rings. Pickle spears round off the burgers and plenty of toppings are available upon request. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly, not too bright, a full bar, and several dessert options. Don't let the Wadsworth location scare you away. It's not too far a drive off Rte 120. And a great out of the way location for good food, good drinks, and a friendly atmosphere. They do have specials each night and I believe Bingo on Wednesdays. We'll definitely be back. read more

It's really nice when you unexpectedly come upon a place that offers great food And great service at a fair price!I I wasn't sure about how I was going to like this place as it wasn't that busy during the lunch hour a little bit tucked away off the main road. Service was excellent very friendly staff. Little confusing when you enter, no host or signing to seat yourself . Place is definitely hard to find, signs are confusing it's basically behind the Lotis Inn attached to Midlane Country Club. It was Friday and I had fish but went with baked to be "healthy". Was kinda salty tasting but overall the meal was delicious. My partner had the steak sandwich it's served open faced with fries and au jus. Small place with great seating and service. Went there yesterday I have always loved this place ordered off the football menu. The tenders were just OK the cheese curds were so hard that I couldn't even put my fork into them and the pickles were so so. Need to replace the pickles with something else. Had the walleye fish fry, was ok, noticed they cut back on the slaw. Was surprised when I received the check and saw that they increased the fish fry to $19.00 or 27% I checked their menu before I went to the restaurant and it was listed at $15.00. Always a great time! It's very close to home without having to drive over to Gurnee. Perfect place for a someone in Wadsworth/Waukegan to go and have a nice cocktail and something hot to eat. The Wednesday night BINGO games are a joy for adults and kids too! read more

We won't be back. Guess some people would like the fish tacos, but I am not one of those. My boyfriend had the perch fish fry. He was very disappointed. He didn't think it even tasted like perch. His onion rings were nice and crunchy but tasteless. Guacamole was good. Waitress was very nice. Ambiance...none really. I guess I expected a rustic tavern. read more

A nice place to grab a relaxing meal. The French Dip was excellent & the chicken quesadilla outstanding. The staff are polite and efficient. Not the greatest place for lunch. some menu items are better than others, making the food for lunch just average. Been here a couple of times before for lunch and it was better than this last time, but not great. Today a friend and I went for lunch around 1:30 pm. We both ordered simple drinks... 1 vodka martini up and 1 vodka on the rocks with olives. Server was also the bartender and didn't seem to know how to make these very easy drinks. She asked a couple different questions before actually making the drinks. Vodka on rocks came with no ice and no olives. Vodka martini up came and glass was not even half full and was not cold. We both ordered burgers medium rare, but the burgers came well done. When we said something, the response was, "oh, sorry." Nothing was done to improve our experience or keep our business. Burgers also seemed to be missing the sauce specified on the menu. Isn't trying to keep the customer happy restaurant 101? Too bad. Very nice spot to have dinner however I was there with a group of friends for a fundraising event and things were beyond what I imagined. First of all the staff was not even prepared for a bigger crowd, food took over an hour to arrive. We joined for taco Tuesday which is advertised on the website as special, which is: TUESDAY-TACO TUESDAY Steak, Chicken, Beef or Fish Tacos- Traditional Style or American Style $2.50 per taco. We were asked if we would like rice and beans or chips and salsa with our tacos and we made our selection. At the time of getting our receipt it was unbelievable. We had been up charged for everything!! When I say everything I mean EVERYTHING. Steak tacos were not $2.50 they were $3 + $1 because it was steak. So I'm reality $4 per taco. Chicken, Fish and Beef tacos all were $3, and not what was stated on the website nor the chalkboard inside the restaurant or even what the waitress told us, she said fish beef chicken or steak all $2.50 each. This was a very unpleasant experience so if you decide to join them for Taco Tuesday make sure to ask for pricing and HIDDEN FEES because there's plenty of those!
