This is a really cute and unique spot in southern CT! It's has a really fun nautical vibe inside, tons of seating and great seating outside for nice weather! There's a counter right when you walk in, but since it's so good, sometimes the line can wrap around the back of the room, but no worries it goes quick! Our breakfast sandwiches were amazing. I loved the biscuit. We tried drinks from a seasonal menu and each of us enjoy ours! They are great at accommodating, our larger party, and all of the items that we ordered things came out quickly and correctly! If they have one, you must order the tiramisu cinnamon bun!! We went up for a second because it was so delicious! You can't go wrong here. It's a really fun spot!

Absolutely love this place! They have a great location with outdoor and indoor seating. The service is quick! The ambiance is inviting. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable in the menu and allergies. The food and coffee are both matched well in quality, quantity, and price. They also have new drink and food offerings often, and use current events like the Knicks win in their specials! Very fun and innovative. Additionally, they have gluten free and vegan options (be sure to ask about them)! As a gluten free person, I appreciated that they had at least 1 gluten free sweet treat as an option and that they offer gluten free bread and gluten free biscuits for handhelds! I recently had the turkey sandwich and it was truly delicious and filling! I highly recommend the Drowsy Whaler and will keep coming back!

We have been here once, and we have to go back! The biscuits were amazing! Egg sandwich super and coffees full of flavor. Staff was super friendly and handled the large crowd with ease! Great use of this space! We plan to come back when the deck is open and we can bring our pup. Soups, salads, and many many danish and so much more to try. All good!!

#41 in my NEW ENGLAND & NY COFFEE SHOP SERIES Great place to study, catch up with friends, or eat breakfast with family. They have different breakfast options as well as traditional coffee shop drinks. But more importantly, they have fun seasonal drinks! I stopped by during fall and they had a yummy caramel apple ghost latte (deceased and desist). Their drinks were flavorful, not too sweet, and not too bitter. And all their syrups are made in house! I sat here for a little over 3 hours getting some work done. Free wifi and lots of outlets. A great spot to visit if you're in the area.

Brown sugar cinnamon latte- tastes more like pumpkin and the cup wasn't filled.

I got an avocado toast and the bread was barely toasted. It was chewy and the egg was cold. My latte wasn't even filled. I provided a picture below. I haven't gone here in a while and I figured I'd give them another shot but not impressed.

This place appeared on our Yelp list as we searched for a cafe on a Saturday morning, while driving back from Milford. This is pretty much off the beaten path as it is kind of on it's own, overlooking a golf course and the sound. The place is simply lovely, an almost circular building with a lot of lighting. There is both indoor and outdoor seating's, and on a beautiful fall afternoon, it provided the best ambiance. The menu is decent with the main focus being the coffee and latte's however they do have some savory items at the counter. And might I add - They do have the coolest logo for a coffee shop

Extremely comfortably space to spend time alone or with friends! Plenty of seats indoor and outdoor, I really enjoyed the latte I got I've never tried blueberry syrup before and this place gave me the perfect introduction! Thanks so much to the kind barista! Awesome music playing!!!

What a tasty little local place! Although it was absolutely freezing because it's right next to the beach, I couldn't help but daydream how much fun this is going to be to come to in the summer! The menu is the perfect size and everything is fresh baked; service was so cheerful behind the counter and genuinely happy to see me at 7 AM. This is dangerously close to my job so I'm a little fearfulI'm going to be here way too often! Absolutely delicious and really nice price point too.

Great atmosphere. They made a place that's all windows somehow cozy. Great coffee. I had the avocado toast with an egg. Husband had the biscuit.

Went out of my way to Stratford solely to try Drowsy Whaler out and will absolutely do it again. I got an egg and cheese biscuit and added their chipotle mayo with the pumpkin spice cold brew. The sandwich was perfection. Nothing beats house made syrups and cold foam. Ample comfy seating and tables. Phenomenal customer service.

Tried their coffeeshop for the first time and was immediately drawn to their fall specials! We got here and there was a line; there's definitely some hype around Drowsy Whaler! We enjoyed their coffee but didn't get the chance to try the food. We will be back! There was a parking lot and indoor/outdoor seating.

Couldn't resist their daily posts of their baked goods and had to revisit for breakfast! And of course for the cease and desist! Again, wonderful service, greeted immediately by happy and upbeat baristas. This breakfast biscuit is the real deal, crispy, fluffy and oh so delicious. It's a pretty sizable biscuit filled with plentiful protein to get your day started. I love passing the beach on the way in, a great way to enjoy a gorgeous morning and the salty air.

I first tried Cibus back in August of 2025 for a quick drink and appetizers, so when my friends…read moreasked where we should go for dinner, I didn't hesitate to suggest it. I may add that I live 90 minutes from here and only come to this town 1-3 times a year. So, my friends usually take my suggestions and a group of eight of us showed up on a Saturday night with no reservation, and somehow the universe blessed us with a table. The place was packed, even the bar had people standing around it; so we knew we were in for a good night. One thing I loved about Cibus that night, is the crowd. It's a great mix of Hispanic and non‑Hispanic diners, which tells you the food speaks to everyone. The décor is warm and inviting, and the dimmed evening lighting gives it that cozy, "we're about to eat well" vibe. Parking was easy too. I have to admit I thought it may be harder to find parking but we found a spot right behind the restaurant, though street parking is also an option, but was packed. Our server, David, deserves his own shout‑out. Super patient, friendly, and ready with answers for every question we threw at him. He checked on us often without hovering, and everyone at the table agreed he did an excellent job. Now, the food...my favorite part. If you've read my reviews before, you know I eat everything but have a soft spot for Asian cuisine. And even though I'm Hispanic, I rarely go out for Hispanic food because I cook it well at home and most places don't impress me. Cibus, however, did not disappoint. Not one dish missed the mark, and the whole table agreed. We even ordered extra food to take home. We started with the Garlic Shrimp with Mofongo. The creamy orange sauce caught me off guard because it's not the usual style, but it worked beautifully. The flavors were balanced, the mofongo wasn't dry (thank you!), and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. We liked it so much we ordered multiple plates of this one; plus two Cuban sandwiches to go. The Cuban was tasty, though it could use a little more meat and sauce. The Ropa Vieja was another hit. Plenty of meat, plenty of sauce, and the black beans were flavorful. A sprinkle of fresh cilantro on top would have made it perfect, but that's just me being picky with my extra flavors and aroma. We also had the ceviche, the trio of little mofongos, and the Chips and Guacamole -- and yes, they make their tortilla and plantain chips in‑house. Not a single crumb survived. I tried the Tostones Sliders with pork, and I wouldn't change a thing. They were loaded with meat, had the right amount of veggies and sauce, and were just delicious. The only dish that didn't wow me was the Maduro with cheese. I love maduros, but the melted mozzarella felt a little plain. There's so much potential here, instead of Mozart maybe try some queso Mexicano, a small side of meat sauce, chimichurri sauce, or even a spicy drizzle could take it to the next level. Speaking of spice, I asked for hot sauce and was surprised to get a watered‑down Frank's RedHot. For a Latin fusion restaurant, something like Cholula, El Yucateco, or Tapatío would fit the Latin fusion theme so much better and elevate the dishes. But overall, Cibus is doing so many things right -- great service, great food, great atmosphere. I'm already planning my next visit and bringing new people with me at end of May.

Second time here...first time dining in. Came here for a family member's birthday dinner…read more Went on a Sunday evening with a group of seven. The restaurant midsized, it's nicely decorated, clean, and good for groups too. The staff were very friendly, food was good, however the waitress was ok. She forgot to bring my appetizer and forgot to place my to-go meal in time of the kitchen closing. The waitress was apologetic and I understand humans forget things from time to time when you're busy. However, this evening was less than half full and when we left it was near closing time...only a couple tables were still there. The least they could have done was comp my meal or have the manager stop by to apologize. But that didn't happen, I just didn't want to make a fuss...so I paid the bill and time will tell if there is another visit in the future.

I can't eat tomatoes or have the juice from them and every single time that I order and confirm…read morethat no tomatoes are on my sandwiches...I somehow always get home to open my sandwich and see them on. I can't eat the sandwich and I end up tossing it..every time. Happened over last weekend and Monday I called about it. Whoever I spoke to that way was very nice about it and told me that I would be refunded and the owner would call me back when he came in around noon that day. I never got a call back. I called on Tuesday morning and spoke to a different girl. She was awfully rude when I asked when it would be that I could speak to the owner she said "I'm not doing this" and hung up on me. I've thrown out one too many sandwiches and when it happened this past weekend again I decided I should probably get my money back for it at this point. It has now been almost a week and I still have not heard back from the owner and I'm still upset with the way that that girl spoke to me on Tuesday. She certainly was not the same girl that I spoke to on Monday about it. The way she spoke to me I am more annoyed about than the money. When I called back to speak to somebody else instead of speaking to her, I asked what the person's name was that I've spoken to and the girl that picked up the phone told me that she didn't know her name because she just started and had just that day so you mean to tell me that your brand new employee spoke to me that way? Not surprised that they've got such low stars on Yelp.
