I have been here twice now and had a great experience both times. The coffee selection and taste is great and most of the food if not all is either gluten-free or vegetarian. They have great breakfast wraps and the prices are more than fair. The only drawback is that the decor and furniture looks like it's a little bit outdated and needs some work which to some people may look like the place is slightly dirty. Who can hate on a place with a monkey theme? Coffee is strong but it can be inconsistent. It can range from average to great. Too much variation. The food and vegan options are distinctive and are good if you feel like eating different that day. Service is mostly good as far as actually getting your stuff efficiently and quickly.. If you are used to being greeted with puppy dog enthusiasm and a green apron. Then you might find the service cold. Good place to use the laptop or read. It's a bit claustrophobic in there but it works. They really need to get new couches! read more

Whether it's vulgar uncensored rap, metal, or early 90's one-hit-wonders, The Drunken Monkey has terrible music. It's a mixed bag, but more often than not, it's nothing you want to listen to while enjoying coffee and a bite. Drunken Monkey is so much better than Starbucks ever hoped to be! They roast their own beans without burning them the way Starbucks does and it shows in the flavor. Not only are their coffee and coffee drinks terrific, but their food is good too. They make a vegan lentil soup that is out of this world. Drunken Monkey has a great vibe to it. Hippie casual. LOL Lots of tables and chairs, but also comfy couches and chairs too. There are games you can play, plus books you can read. Nice place to kick back and relax. The wi-fi is nice too, although I barely use it. There are always people on their lap tops. They also have theme nights. If you get tired of the bucks you have to shell out at Starbucks give Drunken Monkey a try. Not only are they slightly cheaper, but the coffee is way better. read more

I won't lie to you. You can get a damn fine cup of coffee at The Drunken Monkey. You can also get some pretty nice baked goods and a good bowl of soup. The downside is that it all comes with a crappy attitude. I'm a frequenter of small, local, indie places, and I like to spend my money in our neighborhood, so I've tried The Drunken Monkey on numerous occassions, and only once has a member of the staff been the least bit pleasant (and that was at the drive through). I'm a bartender myself, and I go out of my way to be upbeat and nice to restaurant folk, because hey, it can be a tough gig, so I know it isn't me. Apparently, if you aren't a personal friend of someone who works here, you aren't worth being polite to. Sad, because I live so close, and I've really, really wanted to like this place. At first, I chalked it up to a bad day. Then I started to check my deodorant. Finally, I just gave in to the fact that the staff here is going to be condescending and rude, no matter how nice I am. So I honestly love Drunken Monkey though it practically defines a hole-in-the-wall. Funky little hipster spot, probably you won't love it if you don't like a little grunge. And for a coffee bar, their coffee is not fantastic. But the signature Mojo Jojo is terrific, the staple anzac cookies are great, the soups are surprisingly delicious as is whatever other food I've had there and I love the feel of the place. One of a kind, kind of what a coffee shop should be. I give it five stars despite the fact that their coffee could be better, and they serve it in styrofoam if you get it to go. Almost all of them in the shade. + 1 Star - Baked Goods. Delicious and many vegan options, which can easily be fed to non-vegans without their knowledge. Try the scones, especially great. - 1 Star - Chai. That Chai is not good. And if you know it's terrible as an ice blended, which you know it is, take it off the menu. But thanks for remaking it for mom as an iced drink, no blending. + 1 Star - Staff. Always cheery and sweet. I always bring my mum here when I am in town visiting and the servers are so tolerant of mum's 1000001 questions about every food and drink item. - 1 Star - Behind deli counter is open to the kitchen. I just don't like it. It looks... raw. + 1 Star - Fun to hang out. Lots of seating, board games (free to play!) and the Orlando Weekly paper avail. That's cool. +1 Star - Drinks. A big cooler with many many many alternative beverages. That's fabtastic! Tips to improve: - Crank the AC - it's stuffy in here - A slight remodel to obscure the kitchen would be more attractive - Seat cushions on the hard wood seats. I went back for a coffee and ended up getting an iced chai latte. It was pretty damn awesome, if I do say so myself, but I ended up wishing I had gotten it as a frozen drink (because they offer that goodness!!). Not because it would have been tastier, just because I saw another table get some frozen drink variations and they looked beautiful and delicious. My S/O had a cappuccino and said it was good, but really strong coffee. They still offer a pretty big variety of vegan stuff and have some gluten and soy free items as well. I like the idea a lot, and my limeade was good (I don't drink coffee), but the cookies I got were not that great, which was disappointing. There are a lot of vegan items, which I think is awesome, but the crumb cake my sister got had the weirdest texture I've ever encountered from a crumb cake. Usually they aren't like that, so I'm not sure what the deal was. I think I'll go back to try it again sometime because I really like the concepts they're working with and want to support them. Hmmm, I resisted this place, but I sort of like it. The hot coffee is really good. Free wifi and they serve food. I've never been impressed with the food. The wraps always seemed a bit stale. But the staff is really nice and even though I've never had one, I always want to gobble 3 or 4 of the delicious looking brownies. I'm giving this place a 2/5 because I have experienced better in other places like this. Food is great, the coffee beverages are amazing. I have been coming to Drunken Monkey since 2015 to study, get a decent beverage, and admire the art but every time I go in and walk up to order, there is always a barista that is just isn't friendly. I would ask a question about an item or just placing my order and I would just always feel like I am inconveniencing them. It would just be an awkward unwelcome feeling. I always hoped that maybe I caught them on a bad day, or something but this is a constant feeling I would get from the people that work here. I'll probably just stop at places similar such as The Scantum, or Foxtail since they offer some of the same things from now on because of the constant unwelcoming vibe I get at Drunken Monkey. read more

Coffee bar indeed. I would say, this is the best coffee place in the entire Orlando. It's strong, freshly pressed, and brewed. I love the fact that they cater to non-diary customers and even gluten free. Their ice lattes and Mojo Jojo (please make it vegan) are fantastic. Though they leave you rather dizzy from all the caffeine. Their food is amazing. I had their soups, sandwiches and baked goods. Mostly are freshly made and heated upon request. Again, they have a lot of lovely varies. So if you love options come here! My only peeve is that for them to keep the place tidier. There are a lot of people coming in and out but the dishes, newspapers and books are always in a mess. Come for the coffee, stay for the soup. This is my go-to coffee spot. Soo much better than Starbucks and closer/cheaper than some other local spots. Their coffee is fair trade and organic or rain forest alliance approved. If you're looking for something sweet and yummy, try the Mojo Jojo (coffee with condensed milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg). They also have every type of milk for every type of diet. SOUP. Seriously, if you like soup, this is your heaven. They usually have 5-8 types, one each of vegan, vegetarian, seafood, and meat. I've never had a bad soup here, but they'll let you sample it first so you can guarantee you'll never order something you don't like either. They also have sandwiches and breakfast burritos, but for me they're on the small side for the price. Hard to justify when I'd need a side or something extra. But my friends love them so maybe I'm just a fatty! The anzacs are amazing and they have tons of baked goods -- many vegan options. read more

My very first visit to Bumby Rd.'s Drunken Monkey was on their movie night where the owners put a movie on the big screen and the patrons pile onto the comfy couches and crowd around the few tables in this well renovated Pizza Hut. This coffee house delivers tasty treats, filling quiches, and some of the best teas and coffee drinks in the Orlando area. They have interesting outdoor seating so that you can relax with a cup of coffee to the sounds of busy Bumby. My favorite part besides the cozy seating options, and WIFI, has to be the strange mix of people that patron this hot spot everyday. Drunken Monkey is in our top three coffee-chilling locations in Orlando. The coffee is good, though not exceptional. The smell when they're roasting is just awesome -- oh, didn't I say they roasted their own coffee? Well, they roast their own coffee. The food, on the other hand, is... especially if you're one of those hippy-dippy veg-ens. Or if you just like food that "juices" rather than bleeds better in general. The atmosphere is nice and eclectic. Board games, local art, etc. But, as of my last visit the couches have more spring than cushion to them. And sometimes not much spring. If their coffee was a bit better and their couches a fluff fluffier they'd get a 5 for sure. Either way, I'm happy to hang here and miss the days when my job allowed me to. We here this morning for the first time with my boyfriend, I got an iced cinnamon late and he got a frozen mocha, the. We both got their hash wraps. I've come here a few times now and can't get enough of their Iced Mojo JoJo coffee. It's so gooooood!! I've only gotten food once and didn't really enjoy what I got. Don't get me wrong I need to probably try something else and I was completely full when I left but the BBQ sauce they gave for dipping didn't really go with my wrap and it really needed something saucey to make it a little less dry. This place is different and that is what I like about it. I wouldn't say I am over the top about it, but I think I am going to give it another try first before I make up my mind about it. My first experience was rushed because we had to make a concert, but I ordered a cup of soup. A cajun corn chowder I believe it was called. The service was great, the decor great, the bathrooms were nice and clean and I love the chowder. I think next time I will order one of the sandwiches I saw in the pictures attached to these reviews. I think DM is great. I've been going there for a few years. But, if I walk in and wait at the counter--patiently--while no one is up front or even looking at the counter and then a car pulls into the drive through--the bell sounding, summoning an employee--then that employee goes to the window and pulls out a box of dog treats for the canine passenger never acknowledging my existence at the counter... Well, I guess I'm saying if you're going to ignore me and serve guests (and dogs) who clearly arrived after me, I'm going to leave....every time. I will be back but that is why I left today. Drunken Monkey is one of my favorite places for coffee or a quick bite. They have a ton of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options, and I've yet to have a soup there i didn't love. (Seriously.) The selection of coffee flavorings, milk substitutes, teas and colas is fantastic. They roast coffee in house, and while i am a Starbucks fan, the lattes here are superior. Service is... ok. Much better than many of the other independant coffee shops around. I've never gotten the snobby, "I can't be bothered" hipster vibe from the staff, but i've also never exactly felt welcome either. The biggest reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the furnishings. The decor on the walls is from local artists, and the mismatched furniture should give a cute, artsy vibe, but unfortunately much of the furniture is also pretty dirty looking. I'm not afraid I'm going to catch anything, but I make a habit of sitting only in the (uncomfortable) wooden chairs when I go. While this is a minor thing, it would also be nice if they had later hours on weekends, if they did I'd definitely be around more. Overall though, a great spot for working on your latest novel/poem/whathaveyou with a latte and sammich. read more

This is my go to coffee spot. It's close to my house so I ride here frequently to grab coffee. I prefer a iced lattes and they do those well here. I enjoy their food as well - especially the breakfast items - but they generally take a long time to come out. Also, quite a few times my sandwich or burrito has come out cold in the middle. Their baked goods are tasty and I had a peanut butter vegan brownie once that I really enjoyed. Their prices are good and the employees are friendly. One of my favorite coffee shops to stop by when I am downtown. The employees always make you feel at home and never make you feel ridiculous when you don't know much about coffee. They have the best tasting flavored syrups for your coffee! I mean, they have egg nog syrup, how could you say no :) Each time I go I get an iced coffee with sugar free dark chocolate syrup and almond milk. At any other coffee shop, I would get some splenda but their coffee and the syrup together is the perfect amount of sweetness to me. I also love looking at their pastry display. Although I am not vegan, all of their desserts look amazing! The last time that I went they had a marshmallow brownie which I will almost certainly try on my next visit.
