I went in for a wedding hair trial. I was matched with Nidia - and I absolutely fell in Love!!! She listen to everything I wanted, looked at every picture I showed her, and was incredible at creating the most gorgeous hairstyle I've ever had. She went above and beyond! I am so excited to have her do my hair for my actual wedding. I got SO many compliments!!!! I only wish the place validated for parking. I have been going to Dry Bar Burbank since they opened. I've had two back to back incidents that reflect a lack of customer service and cultural sensitivity. First visit the stylist asked why I was getting my hair done, I told her I was attending an Award show later that day. She then asked if I was "working in the back". As an African American women I was mortified at the assumption that I am a service worker when in fact I am the Senior Vice President of marketing. Second was when I arrived 10 min late today. I know I was late but when I have called before they said there's a 15 min grace period. I asked for an up do and offered to not have them wash my hair to save time for the next appointments. My hair is extremely curly so I know this would have saved an hour. The manager refused to budge without offering any possible solutions too meet each otHer halfway. I wouldn't be so upset except that I am there almost every week for years and have only been late once before. The manager knows me by name and knows how long it takes to blow dry. It was more important for her to prove a point or show authority than to value a loyal customer. In LA where there is a surplus of salons to get a blow out it is disheartening to see how little dry bar values its customers. Glam Squad comes to your house for only $10 more! Let me start by saying that I love Drybar. I've visited many locations all over the country and have never been disappointed. The concept is genius and their execution is spot on. I'm a super fan. That all said, let me give a special thanks to my "hometown" location in Burbank. Even though they have aded safety precautions due to Covid, the service has not been effected. First time here & I'm kind of already disappointed. I'm writing this as I wait for my turn. It's been 15 mins since my appointment time and I'm still waiting. If I had been late I'm sure it'd be an issue. People arrived after me and were taken in before me. I finally got taken in & was juggled around because there were no chairs open. The wash process was nice however the blowdry was far from decent. I asked for volume & curls, I got 0 volume and a tiny curl at the bottom of my hair which didn't even last the car ride home. I stopped by Saturday for a blow dry. This was my first time and was super excited. When I go to check in I was told someone would be with me shortly, which was true a young women walks up and sits at the desk without greeting me asks for my name but doesn't bother to look up not once, with her head down she asks me to take a seat. I was Really surprised to be treated this way, I try to shake it off as my hairstylist calls my name. When It was time to pay there were 2 ladies up front one was busy and the same lady from earlier was Free so I go to her to check out, again without looking up and totally dismissing me walks away without a word. By this time the other Lady was free and checked me out. Again this was my first time at a Dry Bar and I loved the pampering but the costumer services I received from my that lady really put a dent in my whole experience. Well... typically I have a great experience here, until last night. So, what I asked for was the charcoal scalp treatment, a scalp massage, and the usual blowout with a style I picked straight from their books. I'm not quite sure what I got. I had to ask if he actually did the charcoal scalp treatment because I'm pretty sure he just did a regular shampoo and conditioner and my scalp was barely touched. As in - no fingers scrubbing anything - I'm not even sure he barely got my roots. The "massage" was approx 90 seconds of light touching around my hairline, that barely counts as a massage but okay, fine, let's just get to the style. So what I picked was a Cosmo-Tai from their books. It's the same thing I always get unless I'm going straight Mai-Tai. Typically they do it with a flat iron and it lasts like 3+ days in my hair - perfect because I was heading to dinner with a friend after my appt and getting photos taken today. First sign of concern was when he asked if I wanted him to use a large curling iron or smaller one - huh? So I said - whichever you prefer get that cosmo-tai look that will last me a couple days. So he then took the longest it's ever taken to round brush my hair dry and used a smaller iron. No biggie but the tv was right in front of me so I couldn't quite see what he was doing. When he was done and spun me around all I could think was holy Texas pageant hair. NOT a cosmo-tai. He also parted my hair in the middle (not my real part) so when I adjusted it, he reluctantly grabbed the iron to "fix it". He also assured me that my hair was tighter curls so tomorrow I could run my fingers thru and it would be what I wanted. All I hoped was that sleeping would flatten it out a little. Welllll it did - as in - allllll flat. I've never had that happen. It looks like it had zero styling. That whole experience just sucked. I'm headed back in today because I need to do something with this before my photos and I am just not skilled in the way of hair. I know this is first world problems but I am so disappointed that I spent money last night and have to go back today. This was the worst blow dry I've ever had. I walked in at 4 PM walked out at 4:15. I paid for a 45 minute service. My hair was still wet when I left. I felt uncomfortable saying how much I didn't like it when everyone was staring at me so I called back after to let them know I didn't like it and the gentleman who answered the phone was incredibly dismissive, rude, condescending. He called me back to say there's nothing they can do other than offer me an appointment tomorrow at 9 AM. But I unfortunately can't make that time so now I just lost my $60. Will not be coming back here. Honestly, all the person on the phone had to do was say they were really sorry and not be so condescending and it wouldn't have been as bad. read more

Okay so since my last review I've probably been to this location 20+ times and the timeliness and service has gotten EXPONENTIALLY better. All of my stylists have been great and the manager Brittany is amazing. She's fast, sharp and has incredible customer service. Way to go Drybar Burbank! Not that I was never NOT going to come here (bc i love a good blowout), but you've made the experience so much better. Tips about this place: -Book in advance, they're very busy pretty much at any given time -Park on the side streets that are across the street from the store (Kenwood and Screenland). There's almost never any parking on Riverside. -The parking garage attached is only open M-F like 7am-7pm, AND they only take cash. If you park here at 6:30pm you'll get locked in. Now I'm sure there's a way out but I'm too afraid to try after being locked in and tailgating someone out. read more

I was nervous coming here, as the reviews are really rough. But I've always loved Drybar in Studio City, so I thought I'd cross my fingers and see what happens. I had a LOVELY experience. They took me promptly, my mimosa was awesome, the wash was great, really pretty blowout with big round curls that are falling beautifully a day later. I often come out of blowouts with a ton of static and flyaways, but there was none of that here. Nothing greasy, too burned, none of that nightmare stuff. I want to give props to the girl who did my blowout but I don't recall her name. She has green hair at the moment, so hopefully that narrows it down if she/management sees this. I'll give two stars for the stylist doing what I actually ask for the MaiTai. I will give her that, but that is the only pro. Below are the cons.. 1) Front desk lady, RUDE! she asked me what I wanted to drink.. I was hesitant to even answer cuz from the other customers review they never get their drink. So I went for it and said orange juice. Got my hair washed, got back to my seat.. no drink.. she passed by looked at me and took the towel off the counter and came back walking towards me, no drink. Passed by me again to turn on the hair straighter, still no drink. I gave up. Seemed like she was holding her personal phone and answering it frequently rather than doing her job. 2) I booked for a blowout and a mudslide treatment. Never got it and the front desk lady was about to charge me for the mudslide mask. Funny thing is usually they give a card to the stylist and write down the service booked. She was too busy NOT doing her job, that she didn't realize the added mudslide treatment on there until I was at the counter paying. 3) Customer service was really a let down. Everyone just had that, fake it till you make it look. I understand that for some it's their second job, they're tired, and it's a weekend. But it's also a job that they committed and signed up for. Be present is all I'm asking. We all have our "off" days, reading the reviews beforehand, I gave this drybar location the benefit of the doubt, and this place totally failed me. I love drybar and I go at least 2-3x a month. I guess I will be sticking to the Pasadena or West Hollywood locations. Update.. I arrived early and was not welcomed or greeted for about 45 seconds despite being in clear view (and seen) by the receptionist and two stylists. My blowout started 10 minutes late without an apology or excuse. Style was as expected. Only reason I come to Drybar is because they do a good job, but this was my first visit to this branch. I keep coming back hoping it will be better. I went to drybar West Hollywood and had a stylist named Azi. She did an amazing job I will post a photo of that. I asked them to recreate the look here. It does not look the same at all. Maybe I'm just picky but my curls don't blend and this is after about 5 times having not only 1 but 2 people try and fix it. Heffner has ruined Drybar. There was a time between 2011-2013 that I enjoyed coming to drybar for a relaxing half hour and I never had to worry about how my hair turned out because I knew that the stylists were skilled, happy, and well-trained with hair. Now? Polar opposite experience. I stopped going for 4 years, then decided to give it a chance when it opened up by my work. Now every time I go I say it will be my last time. I come here and get extremely stressed out because I know my hair is being improperly washed, shampoo and water getting all over my face and clothes, stylists have no blow drying technique as they run a round brush through your hair (and face) at extremely high heat. Receptionists are rude. Stylists all seem like they are forced to work. I've had well over 5 poor experiences and I'm done giving them a chance. There's too much good competition in LA. Drybar is spoiled for good. Way too many locations and not enough overhead. Stylists go through generalized training and are hired with NO prior experience doing hair. I have to have my hair fully dry for you to do my hair? Fine my fault that it was still partially wet, it takes 2 minutes to dry it not even. Not sure what the problem is with keeping their schedule on time. I suspect they aren't turning down walk-in customers when they should. I waited 20 min past my appt time before I was seated at a very uncomfortable station that had no foot rest. The lady ahead of me had already waited 30 min past her appt before they called her. Would not recommend for asian hair. I should have known better but this was the only place open at 7am so I decided to test my luck. I've been to a lot of different salons and this was the only time I left thinking I could have done it better myself with a curling iron. I'm truly terrible with a curling iron. My hair was left with lots of little stays standing straight up and tiny little strands that were missed completely. I'm sure that it's not as noticeable for thin hair but it's super obvious for asian hair. Plus, I asked for a treatment with my booking, then told my stylist before we started that I wanted one, and I still didn't get the treatment. I never curl or blow dry without a deep conditioning or a hair mask due to damage from bleaching so now my hair is also extra dry and frizzy. Worst part was that it was for my engagement photo and there's no time to change it. read more

Unacceptable service - I just got home after what should have been my 10a appt; however, I received a phone call 15 mins prior, just as I was arriving, from a staff member, requesting I go to the Studio City location due to "an incident." Mind you, I do not have a car and am spending $20 on an Uber each way because closer locations were booked when I made this reservation a week in advance. Then I was told they had no way of emailing me any of this information, and all of this would be logged in my account, but I see nothing of the sort. This is deeply upsetting as today is my graduation ceremony, and I'm now trying to do my hair by myself last minute. They also said the manager was out and that I would not hear back from them until Wednesday, 72 hours later, after failing to deliver services. My favorite Drybar because Vera is there! I'm a huge DryBar fan- I feel like it's an entire experience. From the drinks they serve (hot/cold coffee, water or champagne), to the wash and then finally the blow dry. You definitely get that entire experience at the Burbank location.
