I love fall days in Zionsville. We were able to sit outside and eat today for lunch. The patio is very nice and quiet! Our server, although new, was very quick and efficient. Food was really good too!

We came for lunch with a reservation, which I highly recommend due to the limited space. Between the two of us, we had French onion soup, a salad, and the French dip sandwich. We loved our food. The service was good and we are so glad the room cleared out before we sat down so that it was quiet. We will definitely return.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food here. I enjoy a good eggs Benedict and this cute little bistro did a good job. The eggs were perfectly cooked and runny. The hollandaise had a nice lemon flavour to it. My only complaint were the herbs not being fresh (it felt wilted) but it could be from the heat. The fries were crispy, however, it was a bit salty but the truffle aioli was good. The mule was great too, the pumpkin flavour was nice and I enjoyed it a lot. The service was quick and food came out not too long after I ordered. The inside is nice and cozy. The table was a little too high so it's a bit hard for me to reach my plate. I would come back if I'm around the area again.

I ordered chicken with black truffle, vegetables and mashed potatoes, she wanted ribs with tomato polenta.

We went for dinner and although the restaurant is charming and had this cute porch, drinks and food weren't worth the over price. Food came quick and the waiter was attentive and polite. I ordered chicken with black truffle, vegetables and mashed potatoes. Chicken was juicy and tasty, she wanted ribs with tomato polenta, meat was excellent but polenta was dry and tasteless. No desert.

Salad nicoise - no potatoes and about 6 green beans.

First of all- service was great. The restaurant itself was quiet and comfortable. Those were the high points. I ordered the salad nicoise as did my daughter based upon my recommendation. I recommended it as I have had the salad nicoise there several times and had thought it outstanding. The vinaigrette on the greens was very good. However the rest of the salad was disappointing. This time there were only three small pieces of tuna and a few green beans. The tuna was fry and overcooked. Not a potato anywhere in the salad although the menu specifically lists potatoes as an ingredient. Based upon this meal, we will not be returning.

Hubby wanted to surprise me for Valentine's Day by taking me to a French restaurant in town, so I was excited to try it! We actually went the day after Valentine's and the restaurant was pretty full. The restaurant was simple reminiscent of an 80's style library. Lots wood finishes. We had reservations and were seated right away. There seemed to be quite a lot of staff for the evening, albeit a very young staff. Some looked and acted like high schoolers. We were greeted with menus. Mine had no prices on it. I assumed my husband's did. The next person who greeted us was the chef and she waited on us the remainder of the time. Which was surprising--like we're they under staffed? We put in our wine request as we glanced over the menu. We were very, very disappointed that what we were wanting to try wasn't even on the menu. The oeuf mimosa also called oeuf mayo. When we inquired, the executive chef, also our server, told us we couldn't get it since they had a Valentines menu. And then found out their mayonnaise wasn't even homemade! It's a French restaurant, for Pete's sake! Apparently, it was a Prix fixe menu--unbeknownst to us. We didn't see this on the website. And when we asked the chef about it, she said it was mentioned throughout social media. Had we known this, we would have chosen elsewhere to go. There were no prices anywhere to be seen except for the wine list. There are so many things that went wrong here. The food number one. I had the crab appetizer--a tiny soft shell crab, deep fried with gremolata. The crab tasted a little fishy for me. Really nothing special. I didn't crave for more. Then I chose the salad. The dressing was very vinegar forward. It had chunks of ham and Gruyere and Cornichons. It was so tangy I couldn't finish it. And the gruyere tasted more like Swiss cheese. My entree was the Blanquette de veau--veal with vegetables and sauce. The chunks of veal were difficult to cut, even with a sharp knife! One baby carrot and one larger one that was not done--couldn't be cut at all. The sauce was ok. My husband enjoyed his appetizer of duck liver pate. That was about it. What did I enjoy? The water service was spot on! And my dessert of floating island--Île Flottante was edible but didn't wow me in the least. The chef was very polite and attentive and we really liked her! Which pains me to write this. Point is, we don't want to spend $270 on poor quality food and be served by kids who really lacked the skills of fine dining with fine dining prices. We took home our inedible dishes simply because it was expensive. But it was the first time I took a doggie bag with food I wasn't even anxious to enjoy later. I hate giving such a poor review, but we felt like we threw money out the window this night. Would we go again and give a second chance? Probably not.

Highly recommend sitting outside during the fall, such a pretty vibe with the colorful leaves and the brick street! And the food here was great too - I ordered the French onion soup and it was perfect! The burger here was also really good, although the fries were a little too crispy for me. If you look at their menu on the website, it looks like there only 2-course to 4-course meal options, but in person they also have an a la carte menu which is nice for people who just want one thing. Their menu is seasonal so I'd love to come back and try other things!

Food was great! My mom had the quiche which was also wonderful. Cute lunch spot, wonderful old bar and woodwork. Service was good too! Would be a great date night spot as well.

Exquisite and cozy French restaurant nestled in the heart of downtown Zionsville. The 2-course and 4-course menu options are wonderful, and if that's too much food there is also a small plate menu. Dishes are delicious; I'm partial to the roasted lamb, and the French onion soup is fabulous. Drinks are a bit on the small side (wine is either a 4 or 6 ounces pour, and the martini glasses are quite little), yet the water carafes are kept full.

Auberge is incredible! Every time we go (once a month or so) the service and food is phenomenal. They regularly change their menu, and let me tell you..... their new menu as of June 2025 is the best in the city. I was embarrassed to take photos of my meal but I felt the need to for this review so others will go. I forgot to photo our appetizers (beef tartar and Salmon salad) and our desert (crème brûlée). If you're reading this, go to Auberge.... Call ahead for reservations on busy days; it tends to be packed. We go on weekdays and sit outside and it is A+++++ ambiance. During the fall, we love the heaters, blankets, and warm drinks when seated outside. If inside, they have an incredible library dining room. Best kept secret in Indianapolis.

The bar is owned and locally operated by Ron Hopwood. Ron makes and bottles his own wines and bourbons. Most of the grapes are locally grown. I have passed by his bar for years because I was skeptical of Midwest wines until I had a bottle of his chardonnay at the local pizzeria. The chardonnay was so smooth and delicious, that I walked down the street to his tasting room. The cozy upscale bar is FILLED with Hopwood wines and bourbons. He offers tastings or you can buy a bottle or glass. and sit at one of his lovely tables and sip. He even sells charcuterie boards and dipping breads to pair with your wine. Awards for the wines cover a wall. Ron is most proud of winning the 2019 American Wine Societies award for best cabernet sauvignon. The wines are inexpensive and they offer special pricing to Club members. To be a member, one needs to commit to buying 2 bottles/month or 2 cases/year. It's such a great deal that I am going back over this week to join. Ron has special events for Club members! Hopwood is a great place to sneak away on a date or with your bff. Unfortunately, I did learn that Hopwood Cellars is closing its doors for good in June, so it was a good thing I came back to visit. Hopwood Cellars is one of the best wineries in Indiana that I have been to since living in Indianapolis. The owner is a great guy and very friendly and helpful to the customers. His staff is very knowledgeable on the wines, and the ambiance is beautiful. The Cabernet Sauvignon is my personal favorite wine. They also have a great Chardonnay as well. The winery does sell flights of wine so you can sample a few wines. The wine milkshakes are supposedly out of this world, so I would stop by before the end of June 2025 to try one, or else you will miss out on the opportunity. The bar area goes around the facility and is very nice. They have a wine sample card you can purchase to try a bunch of wines as well. The staff definitely knows what they are doing, and they are very professional on presenting the wines. I'm sad that Hopwood Cellars is closing this year because it was a good winery and one of my favorites in Indiana. I wish the owner nothing but the best, but I know he will succeed in whatever business he decides to do next. Farewell to Hopwood Cellars Winery! We will miss you!

When I had first visited and found out that they do wine bingo, I knew I had to come back. My bestie and I used to love going to Wine Market & Table for wine bingo, but after they closed a few years ago we never found anyone else who did it. Solely Wine has solved that! They have a nice selection of wines available by the glass, but they also have a much larger selection of wines, separated by type, that you can buy by the bottle (you can't grab them yourself off the shelf, a staff member has to do that) to open and drink there or take home. My friends and I each started out with just a glass of wine and then ended up buying some bottles to share while playing bingo since we were staying for a few hours and it was a better price point to share bottles. It can get expensive buying by the glass. They also have some snacks/appetizers available for purchase if you get hungry. The inside has lots of different seating options: cozy arm chairs and couches, large family-dinner-style tables, and smaller tables along the windows. They also have a beautiful patio! Towards the back they also have an art gallery and additional seating, although I don't think that space is always open. The bathroom is kept very clean and the staff are helpful and attentive. Can't wait to come back for another girls night.

He's a semifinalist for the Best Chef: Great Lakes (IL, IN, MI, OH) category. What an honor! I'm curious to see if he gets the medal, but even if not, hopefully this recognition will draw people to visit Lone Pine, because people really need to visit. I don't know how Lone Pine would describe its menu, but I would call it elevated comfort food. One of the things my table ordered was chicken piccata. When was the last time you saw chicken piccata on a menu?! It was delicious, and served with mashed potatoes and lettuce leaves that added a nice, fresh crunch to each bite. We also got the roasted salmon, which was served with fingerling potatoes in a pesto sauce, with arugula on the side. This, too, was delicious and rich, yet fresh. I ordered the short ribs, which came with polenta and caramelized pearl onions. The short ribs were just fatty enough, and the sauce that they were surrounded by was unctuous and wonderful to eat with the polenta. I guess I should have started this review by writing about our first course! We got the French onion soup, bloody Mary wedge salad and the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad at Lone Pine is probably the best Caesar salad that I've eaten in Carmel, and maybe in all of the Indianapolis area. The thing that Lone Pine does differently and spectacularly is that they use breadcrumbs and not croutons. That makes all the difference! Granted, it does look a bit like a pile of pencil shavings on a plate, but sometimes the dowdiest foods are the best-tasting foods. The result is a satisfyingly salty, crunchy, creamy, crispy salad that I couldn't stop eating. I know I will be back to Lone Pine for the Caesar salad. We ended our meal by sharing two desserts: the apple pie panna cotta and the Lone Pine chocolate cake. Both desserts were amazing, but the cake won us all over because it looked deceptively heavy, but it was light and airy, and came with slightly sweet whipped cream. The service at Lone Pine is exceptional. They pay attention to detail here, and all of the little things are taken care of. Our server gave us just enough time between courses. Our water was refilled unobtrusively. We didn't get asked whether we've dined there before (because who cares?) and the menu wasn't over-explained (thank goodness, because I can indeed read). One thing we also noticed that we appreciated: The music was just loud enough to hear it, but not loud enough to notice it too much! It's these little things that come together to make a great dining experience.

My first experience at the restaurant was decent, so I figured we would give it another shot. I recall my first meal being a bone-in pork chop that was overly salted. I'll make my review brief. The restaurant was not too busy but our service was fairly slow, two separate drink orders that were requested never made it to the table, the environment was noisy/music too loud, etc. I decided to go with something very basic for my food order. My thought was, "I'll see how good they are at doing something simple." I got the black and burger cooked to the chef's preferred temperature (medium). My burger came out dry/crumbly/crispy/well done. Yikes. The server did offer to provide a complimentary drink while he asked the chef to prepare another burger (a nice gesture). However, the second burger came out raw (see photo). I'm a medium rare steak guy but this was inedible. The fries were very good. I'm not typically someone who is overly critical of restaurants but for the amount of money you're paying for these meals, the food and service should be excellent. My two experiences were fair and poor. This is very unfortunate because I've visited the sister restaurants (Beholder and Milktooth) many times and have had nothing but great experiences at both. Probably the last time I'll go.
