I have known Dave at Dublin Seeing Center for 30 years. I have a 20 year old machine and wanted to update. I had no idea of all the new technology. He sat with me and showed me how to use a serger, then I wanted an under 2,000 machine and he only showed me in my price range and did not try to upsell me. After realizing how many choices I had, I decided to do research,they gave me model numbers and I checked everything out. For 3 weeks I came in the store and Tony listened to my needs in a machine and patiently sewed on machines and told me differences. We sat and talked and I finally made my choice. I went to classes for both machines free of charge. I continue to ask questions and all the employees help me or go find the answer if they don't know. To start with, they had the best prices. Then we get to the service. It is TOP OF THE LINE. Pat was patient and helpful as I tried out different machines on my project to find the right one. She steered me away from a significantly more expensive model (that was way more than I needed). When I had a challenge with my machine, Dave looked at it while I waited and explained what I needed to do differently. The class on how to use it was excellent. I have lived in the Bay Area for nearly 20 years. I have purchases all of my sewing machines from Dublin Sewing Center and cannot say enough good things about them. I am able to take classes to learn more about my machines without a charge. I have come in to the store when I am having a challenge on a project and greeted by friendly and knowledgeable folks who offer help and suggestions without me needing to purchase anything. I have come in to purchase something and after explaining what I intend to do, I am often directed to a different idea at a much lower cost - they do not try to sell me something I do not need. I have witnessed Dave working with a customer and rather than having the customer order a very hard to find part, he suggests a fix with another item for under $10! Went with a friend to evaluate new sewing machines yesterday. We were both very impressed with the range of sewing machines that were available to see and try out. We had gone to specifically check out the Pfaff brand because it has a built-in walking foot. Both of us mostly make quilts and had some very specific features we wanted on our next sewing machines. Dave was extremely knowledgeable about each of the brands and models he carried. He gave us a good information about the manufacturer of each brand, the warranties, and performance of each machine. Much to our relief it is not a store with high pressure sales. As a mater of fact, Dave gave us plenty of his time to demonstrate and answer our numerous questions and then also afforded us the time to talk privately. Currently there is construction going on in the space right next to the store and Dave kept apologizing for the noise; however we were not bothered by it at all. I mention the construction because right now there is a "construction sale" due to the fact that Dave is concerned about any inconvenience his customers may have in conducting business with him. I felt this was a positive indicator that Dave cares about his customers. I'm not exactly sure when the "construction sale" will end but I believe it will be before the end of the month. Based on what we told Dave about the machines we currently use and the features we wanted on our next machine, he directed us to the perfect match. Mind you that we went to check out machines for my friend, and well, we both excitedly walked out with brand new machines at considerably lower prices than we anticipated and with machines that exactly met our needs. It was truly a relief to find this place and deal with someone who obviously has integrity and provides excellent customer service. I highly recommend doing business with this store and if you were to experience any different service than we received it would be shocking. This is a great store with quality people. read more

I have an old Pfaff which had been checked and overhauled for $180 by an appliance repair shop in San Mateo 2 1/2 months ago. Recently it began suddenly producing uneven stitches and I decided I wasn't taking it back to the local shop. The Sewing Center in Dublin is the nearest Pfaff rep. When I took it in, their repairman determined that the bobbin case had lost its tension and repaired it by readjusting its screw. He informed me that I would need eventually need a new bobbin case which, unfortunately Pfaff no longer produces. The Sewing Center located a reconditioned replacement bobbin case and charged me $18 and nothing to troubleshoot my problem. Before I left, Toni helped me test my machine to be sure everything worked okay and gave me some valuable tips to improve the life of my machine. She and Carolyn were efficient and polite from the moment I walked in. I was impressed by the service and integrity displayed by The Sewing Center and it was well worth the 90 mile round trip drive from my house. 5 Stars!!! read more

I Drive all the way from Modesto to purchase my sewing needs from the sewing center and take friends and relatives to purchase there also. Dave and Tonie really try to help you make a good decision on which machine to get that best suites your needs. I always get treated great even if I am only buying a spool of thread. Over the course of a couple months, I demoed two machines and finally bought a third. Toni was very helpful during the first two times, taking me through everything I needed to know, spending over an hour each time. Even though I bought nothing those two times, I was treated very well by the staff there. When I called to see if they carried yet a third machine, I was directed to Dave, who knew the machine very well, and who helped me by phone to order the machine and the accessories. Today, when I picked up the machine, both Toni and Dave were available when I had questions. I spent a couple hours going through the threading and use of the new machine. Picked up my brand new baby lock serger today. Got a decent price and lots of help. Pat started to set up my machine but got really busy in the shop. I bought a sewing machine from a different store and had the WORST experience. Luckily, I found Dublin Sewing Center, from the first moment I walked in, the experience was like a breathe of fresh air. I was treated with respect and the knowledge that I have gained is just priceless. I have since purchased a total of 3 sewing/embroidery machines and 2 sergers and taken several classes and joined a few clubs. Toni is AWESOME!!!! I am not sure if I went to the same place because I did not have the same experience as others. First off, I was so excited to go and was looking forward to seeing the models of machines and notions. Within 3 minutes of being in the store it went downhill fast. The two women who were working were incredibly negative and snooty. I felt as if we were bothering them. If they ask you what kind of machine you have don't tell them! One woman said to my friend "Oh, that one you're going to want to trade it in fast because it has problems." That may or may not be true, but way to take an exciting visit for a novice with a new machine excited to sew and crap all over it. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and wanted to look around some more thinking maybe the lack of AC was making them grumpy, but really we should have bailed. Seems that unless you are going to spend a bunch of money they aren't interested. The crazy part is if I had fallen in love with a machine the chances were good that I would have bought one. No demos, no info... just grump. Here's the kicker... while in the store, I dropped my car key. A couple came in, found it and gave it to the woman at the counter. I was standing right there unaware I had lost it. I heard a tiny bit of the conversation but not enough to know what they were talking about and then we left. Once to my car I realized it was missing. We ran back to the store and they had the key. Didn't even ask me if it was mine while I was standing at the counter. We were the only other customers in the store! Since they were in a huge hurry to leave (it was a few minutes before closing) we were lucky to have made it back to the door, otherwise they would have left without a word. Needless to say, it was a huge disappointment and I won't be back. I'll take my business to a place that values their customers even if I have to drive a bit. read more

Several years ago I bought a machine at the Dublin Sewing Cemter and it has been a disaster. I took an introductory class and the instructor discovered that the automatic threaders did not work, the button hole stitch did not work, etc. I hung around for a half an hour after the class trying to get her to talk to me. Finally, I approached another sales person. Since my new machine was under warranty, she suggested I bring it in for repair. It would be in the shop for two months! I left with my machine and never returned. read more

Dublin Sewing Center uses predatory lenders for their so called 2 year interest free loans. They set us up with automated payments at the lower price which is not the interest free loan. Then they blame us for not reading the fine print and ending up paying almost $5000 for a $2000 sewing machine. read more

I purchased a Ovation serger and had some difficulty with some of the stitches. I attended the serger training class. The serger instructor reviewed the problem. At lunch time she took it to the repair department. When I returned from lunch Dave (owner) had given me a new Ovation as he did not want me miss my serger training class. I have been going to the Dublin Sewing Center for over 10 years now. I have purchased 2 embroidery machines and serger machine from them. The best part of purchasing your machine there is that they provide you 'free' classroom training on how to use them. Since I am a hands-on type of learner, I find this invaluable. Just returned from Dublins Sewing Center with a brand new Viking. Really was not planning to buy but since my old Singer finally died, I said what the heck let's go check out the store. Was so pleased by the helpful, knowledgeable & friendly staff, how could I not want to buy from them. They came highly reccomended by several local quilt store & teachers, but I was a little skeptical about paying them a visit. Was greatly surprised!! I will never go to another distributor again. They took the time to listen to what I was looking for within my budget and did not try to up sell me. Several machines were demo'd but I really liked the Viking Emerald 116, I brought home. I am an avid sewer, and have bought many machines from many dealers in the Bay Area. I feel strongly that you buy your dealer when you buy your machine. Dublin Sewing Center is by far the best place to buy a machine in the Bay Area. Toni, the store manager and staff are experienced sewers who know the machines and are always willing to help with machine and sewing questions. Dave and Darren are the best repair guys and are always willing to take the time to explain the work needed. They offer free lifetime classes, from trained teachers with the purchase of your sewing machine or serger, when many shops charge for classes. This is a huge bonus. Unlike some dealers, return customers are always welcomed, whether you are stopping in to buy thread, or a presser foot, or drop off your machine for service, or looking to upgrade your current machine. I always feel welcome when I come in the door. Dublin Sewing Center is a family owned business that provides great service to the sewing community. Dublin Sewing Center took my rusty, antique Singer and brought it back to life! How wonderful to have a shop so near who can work on it!

I think this place is GREAT. They are so knowledgeable about fixing sewing machines, vaccuun cleaners and now my carpet shampooer. I've taken my Bissell there twice in the past 3 months. The first time, Dick, the owner who's terrific identified the problem, glues on some part right then and there and it was complimentary. Wow. The machine worked perfectly! Yesterday, I took it in because apparently a belt broke. How about this... it's ready today, only $15. I asked about a second shampooer for my mom. He has a better machine, a Hoover that sells for the reasonable $229.00. That's comparable to even Walmat pricing and obviously a better machine, a smaller, longtime business. They are located in Dublin with plenty of free parking. You can't go wrong here. I've been there with my sewing machine and vaccuum cleaner before and received the same kind of service. It's easy. It's all about good service and not being gougers. I seem to be the only one that writes a positive review. I am happy to take the time to do this. They made my day! read more

All I can say is that Dublin Sewing Center is by far, the best sewing machine store in all of the bay area. I know from experience that they try and help you find what you are looking for, whether it be a spool of thread or a brand new machine. I have been dealing with Dublin Sewing Center for nearly 7 years now and have purchased two brand new machines from them. I feel that they are knowlegable about all of the brands of machines that they carry, plus give great service on repairs or accessories. I have never felt so comfortable in a shop when purchasing a machine. I just bought a brand new Bernina 710 and I can't tell you how thrilled I am that Bernina finally answered my prayers and made a precision machine with a large neck space plus the largest bobbin I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. It is like a dream and is such a great thing to work on. I am a machine quilter and have used about every machine out there and this one is the TOPS in my book. I hope if you are in the market for a new machine, or just looking, please give this shop a try and ignore the negative comments that you may read on this site. The thing I enjoy about the shop is the fact that they are pleasant and know their products. I feel that they give a very fair and competitive price on their machines because I have done the homework. I own 3 machines and two of them have been purchased at Dublin Sewing Center.
