If I could have I would have given a negative score. I was in search for a new vet closer to home. I took my 12 year old German Shepherd for a simple wellness exam. He has arthritis and that is all. His hearing was great and vision too. I should have listened to my dog when he began to act up by backing away from the vet and trying hard to get out of the room by pushing his snout against the door. He was muzzled for the first time in his life during a vet visit. Needless to say he cried the entire time and was miserable. I thought it was due to his age but he had been to another vet months earlier and was fine. The vet who couldn't even look properly onto my dog's ear especially his left one prescribed an ear wash and ear antibiotoc Tri Otic. She said it was for slight redness to his left ear. I thinking I was doing the right thing administered the medication 1-2 drops/day in each ear (why? I am not sure) and one ear wash per day...3 days later he was completely deaf. He didn't have any issue before the medication. I could walk over him and he couldn't hear me. I clapped behind him and he had no reaction! I was beside myself. How could this happen? I read the insert AFTER I administered the medication which was prescribed and was never given a CONSULTATION. The insert says the medication may cause "temporary deafness in some dog (especially geriatric)." When I read that I wondered why the hell the vet would prescribe a 12 year old dog with such a medication. After doing some research I found that the cocktail of antibiotics in the medication cause the deafness and I couldn't determine how. I contacted the vet and 2 days later received a call back. I was asked to bring him in again. Against my better judgment but out of desperation I did so. This time two vet techs had to hold him, he was muzzled and bolted through the door at one point. Again, the vet barley looked in his ear and said the medication "is in his ear canal and just needs to be absorbed." I asked her why she prescribed the medication if it causes deafness and she looked dumfounded and repeated her self. I told her the insert clearly states that geriatric dogs have a higher risk. She looked puzzled and said "well now we know we have to given oral meds and not that (Tri Otic)." Really? I had to take him to another vet his prior vet recommend. Thankfully he had a camera that he used to put in his ear which showed his ear canals were clear and showed no medication build-up. So now I have a deaf pup. I paid about $100 for the horrible visit and another couple hundred to the other vet. By the way that vet said he had never heard of Tri Otic and only uses oral meds. My baby was calmer but frightened and understandably so when he went to his last visit. I hope to get her to stop to using Tri Otic, consult humans on possible side effects when prescribing their pets medication, an apology and my money back. I could use it to pay for the 2nd vet bill. read more

I've been bringing my Australian Labradoodle here since the day I got him. They have taken such great care of my baby over the last 3.5 years! He's been taken in for vaccinations, all his physicals, he's come for allergy testing and a few different emergencies. One was for eating a thermacare pack and ingesting the iron inside. Another time he got a foxtail in his ear, that almost punctured his ear drum and most recent when he had gotten something (most likely a foxtail) up his nose. He had to be put under anesthesia so they could get a scope up both nostrils to check, luckily they didn't find anything except an infection and inflammation. He was kept under observation for the day and sent home that afternoon. They have always called a few days after to check in and see how he's feeling. He gets anxious each time he comes, so before we even go into the room they put the mat on the floor for him and Dr gets down to his level(on her hands and knees!) to make him feel comfortable while she examines him. They also let me hold him if he needs to be still for anything. I wouldn't trust any other vet with him! All the employees are wonderful and treat my dog like he was their own. I can't say enough how great they are and how much I appreciate them, especially Dr and her tech Candy. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is as picky as I am about the care of their pet. Financially, I am on a tight budget. They are always honest and upfront about what is medically necessary and what things I can wait on for my foxtail magnet. Again, I really just can't say enough good things- make an appointment with them! read more

Dublin Vet has an amazing staff! My dog suffers from seizures and Dr. T is incredibly patient and kind with excellent follow up. She calls to check in after hours and randomly, not even after an appointment, to see how things are going. There was a billing issue after our last appointment, and Amanda and Julie resolved the issue after hours. I really love the personal touch Dublin Vet gives - a great experience! read more

My main complaint is that she has raised the prices there through the roof, but she also does not impress me as being all that experienced. I'm very confused about my experience here. I'm not sure how new the "Wednesday Morning Weekly Vaccinations" is, but it's crystal clear on their website under "Community Services" -- "Weekly Vaccination Clinic". When I first called in, I got Mary on the line. She was VERY sweet and made me an appointment for the Vaccine Clinic Special for today (Wednesday). When I brought my puppy in for our appointment, Candie was the one helping me behind the desk. I gave her all my information, as a new guest, and let her know which vaccines my puppy needed. Candie brought my puppy and I into a room and presented me with the quote for the vaccinations. It was WAY higher than what I calculated from the information and pricing on their website. Not only was she trying to charge me higher for each vaccine, but she was also trying to charge me for the FREE Wellness Care Examination. It's very clear on their website it states "A Wellness Care Examination of your pet is required and will be performed as part of any service provided. This is a necessary step in establishing a valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship as required by the California Veterinary practice act and is also in the best interest of your pet." It's clear on their website that this type of examination is done at no charge and also states "(This is required for any of the Vaccination Clinic services)" on their website. It's a REALLY good thing I was worried about this happening and printed all the information from their website and brought it in because I showed her the EXACT information from their website and she looked at it like she had no idea what I was talking about OR was not expecting me to have been prepared and have that. After not being okay with this much higher amount, Candie went back out the door and I could hear her talking to the vet saying "Have you seen our website?! Do you know what we're advertising?!" This was so shocking!!! #1 This Vet Technician should always be up to date on what their website says! #2 I'm pretty sure she was just trying to pretend like she didn't know or try to make the vet look bad for her mistake or because she got caught and I didn't fall for it. Am I really expected to believe that you do these vaccination clinics EVERY Wednesday and supposedly they're SO busy you recommend to make appointments, yet I'm the first person who has ever come in wanting what you're advertising on your website?! Either she was trying to charge me higher prices because she thinks I'm stupid or she isn't doing her job correctly by staying informed on their services and website. She came back in the room and said that the reason why she gave me that initial quote was because she thought I wanted the "Comprehensive Exam" which #1 I NEVER stated I wanted and #2 The paper said Wellness Care Examination, not Comprehensive Exam and #3 all of the numbers were wrong, nothing matched up. So she told me if I wanted to get just the vaccines done (which is all I wanted from the beginning) then I wouldn't be able to watch the Vet administer them, they'd take my puppy in the back, and I had to stay in the room..... Um... That's the strangest thing I've ever experienced. I've had 11 dogs in my life, have taken them to numerous places for vaccinations, and never has my dog had to go where I couldn't see them to get a quick vaccination. I've always been there to help hold the dog and they show me which vaccines their doing before they stick the needles in. So after she takes my puppy and brings her back, she gives me a receipt that they did 3 different vaccinations and gave me a bill with the correct amount. So I paid it, I guess I'm just supposed to trust that they actually did all 3 vaccines behind the doors and didn't just charge me for them. Then we walked out! Yeah, not too happy. Mary was the most pleasant thing about this place. Other than that, I experienced: uninformed staff, prices that didn't make sense, and an experience where I don't even know if my puppy got what she needed. Pros: The staff here is great. They are kind and clearly love animals. They were always happy to see our cat when we brought him in and were gentle and loving in the way they handled him and spoke to him. The facility itself is nice enough. It's always clean and there's plenty of space in the waiting area. The doctor herself was knowledgeable. Cons: Even though she may know what she's doing I felt the doctor came off as a bit cold and uncaring. We have been taking our pets here since the days when Dr. Nagel was around and he always handled our pets in a caring way. He would pet them a bit to relax them and talk to them in a soothing voice. They would purr when he did this. My cat has never purred for the current doctor. She doesn't do anything horrible, she's just not as nice as the former doctor. I didn't think much of it until my cat actually got really sick. My cat suffered from kidney failure and it happened right at Christmas. The doctor said he would need to stay at the office for three days, then realized the third day was Christmas and the office was closed. At first she offered to come in herself that day to check on him and give him his medicine. Then she changed her mind and said she'd just send him home a day early. This happened in a span of a couple minutes and she said it all out loud in front of me while I was in tears about my dying cat. Now I'm not asking her to actually come in on her day off, but my cat needs something you can't provide don't start off saying you're going to give him less than he needs. Just send me somewhere else. She did eventually set us up with an emergency vet, but I can't believe her initial thought was to just send him home. I just never got the feeling that she understood what it was like to have a pet who is part of your family. I ended up having to put my cat down and couldn't stand to have her do it because I wanted it done by someone who saw what my cat meant to me and would be kind and gentle in that moment. She doesn't even have tissues in the office to offer to people when they're upset. Needless to say my other cat and our dog will be finding another vet. read more

We are so happy to have found expert, loving care so close to home. Dr. Chahal is the best! She treated our cat for diabetes and herpes with professionalism and compassion. We had an emergency today, with our sweet cat suffering an seizure due to dangerously low blood sugar. Not only did she make a housecall, but she rushed her to the hospital and stabilized her, saving her life! She always calls to check on her status after a visit. We couldn't ask for a more caring vet! Mary, at the office is similarly kind and helpful. We would recommend this practice to anyone with pets in the tri-valley area. I remember Dr Nagel from 1986-87? I worked at a pet store Animal Ark (long gone now) He took care of all our pets at the store. He was also my vet when I lived in Dublin. not only is Dr. Nagel a sweet kind soul, he is a great vet. When my dog became very ill (because of diabetes), she and her team were able to stabilize her and restore her back to being a happy dog. I was visiting friends in Livermore for two weeks, during which time my dog, Vespers, became really sick. He'd thrown up before, of course, but never for 24 solid hours. He also wasn't drinking water. I called Dublin Veterinarian Hospital and was told to bring Vespers in as soon as possible. One hour later, he was being treated. One of the really nice things was that DVH didn't run a battery of tests. They only ran what was essential. They also didn't keep Vespers overnight. He was treated and sent home to recover, and I was given really great directions about what I had to do to help. read more

In my opinion, choosing a vet is one of the hardest things to do as a pet owner. From the moment I walked in the door I felt like we were treated like family. Each of the staff members as well as Dr. Chahal made me feel like they were treating my dog like she was their own. In addition to their welcoming and gentle touch with my dog, they have been price conscious of all of the procedures that were required for treat my very sick fur baby. Dr. Chahal did not insist on doing additional procedures until she was sure they were necessary which is very comforting especially in an emergency situation. In that moment we just want the Vet to fix our animal and we'll worry about paying for it later. I didn't have to struggle with those decisions. Additionally, Dr. Chanhal was aware of my concern with leaving my senior pet (who was very sick) overnight, so she encouraged me to take her home nightly and return with her in the morning rather than be hospitalized over night. Did they ask me to muzzle my dog, yes. Did she like it, No. But it is for my protection as well as the staffs. Especially when you are dealing with a hurt, sick or scared animal. To be honest I'm not a naturally trusting person and I feel like I have known the staff here for years. The overall experience here as been overwhelmingly positive and I will be introducing my other dog to Dublin Veterinary as soon as I can. read more

WOW.. I don't know about what that review given to Mary was about, but I personally have had nothing but excellent experiences with Mary, Candie and all the staff at Dublin veterinary hospital! My girlfriend's dog comes to that hospital and the Dr is always extremely thorough and they always explain exactly what should be done. Being an owner of many pets (including a dog who eats everything), it is a huge sigh of relief knowing that if anything was to ever happen, I'd have somewhere to take my pets that I trust. 10/10 read more

I have never written a bad review before, yet I feel like I really need to in this case, to share my experience with the community. I called Dublin Veterinary Hospital and they quoted a price for an exam and neutering service. They never sent this quote like they said they would. I took a day off of work, which is quite difficult in the field of social work. When I arrived for the appointment, I told the technician that I never received a quote. She went inside (owners aren't allowed inside during COVID) and printed one for me. It was over $130 higher than what I was told when I scheduled the appointment. She said it's because my puppy is over 6 months old. He turned 6 months the DAY BEFORE the appointment, and I was not informed of this cost difference over the phone. Had I known, I would have requested my day off sooner. It felt like a "used car salesman" experience because after explaining the situation with the tech, to see if there was any flexibility, because I was misinformed over the phone, took a day off, and drove over a half-hour for the appointment - she went back inside to talk with her supervisor who told her the person on the phone who spoke with me was new (she sure didn't sound new, she was very clear and instructed my to email my puppy's vaccine records, which I did immediately). Dublin Veterinary Hospital did not accept responsibility for the misinformation and lack of information and would not budge around the fact that my puppy had turned 6 months the day before (assuming we even have his correct birthdate). I don't wish to bad-mouth anybody or any business, yet Dublin Veterinary Hospital clearly demonstrated real lack of integrity and severely poor customer service. They frankly operate like a used car sales business. read more

We first brought our pup, Tater, to the hospital when he had ingested some chocolate peanut butter cups which was scary but they helped him. and he pulled through. Then he went to routine appointments with great care from Dr. Harpreet Chahal. She truly cares about her patients. Later our little pup Tater was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and it progressed to congestive heart failure, something unavoidable with age. During this difficult time they were all there for me. Just like a family. He had an episode where he seized and I had no clue what to do, I brought him in close to death and they revived him. He was a special dog our little tater. He touched all their hearts as well. We were saddened when he left us to cross over the rainbow. They have been so supportive even after his passing. Truly a great bunch of knowledgable professionals there. I would absolutely bring my pets back. They've always kept the exam rooms clean and comfortable. I would say as a pet parent if your pet has a lot of health issues, especially senior pets, look in to pet insurance. read more

Our cat had already had one surgery by a San Jose vet on his ear for cancer that returned in less than a year. The estimate from Sage was prohibitive so I checked out Dublin Veterinary Hospital and I'm so glad I did. Dr. Chahal and the entire staff was wonderful! The surgery was affordable, my cat was very well taken care of and I'm so pleased with the results. Dr. Chahal did a beautiful job removing my cat's ear and the results are amazing. So far, the cancer has not returned, keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks DVH!! read more

I had the worst experience. The doctor left on an emergency and instead of calling me, they left my cat locked in his cage for 5 hours. I thought they were back there taking care of him! When I called, they told me that i needed to pick him up and that he hadn't had his exam. My cat was left in the dark in a cage full of pee and poop! We brought our 1 yr old dog to see Harpreet Chahal because she was not eating. After several x-rays and ulta sound, the vet determined that something was lodged in her stomach. She recommeded surgery, which she performed and found nothing in her stomach. We were never told to fast our dog so a clear x-ray or ulta sound would benefit a true diagnosis. The vet said she would call that evening (sat.) and check on our dog. She never called and when asked why she did not follow up on her patient, her reply was that she losted our phone #. I find her unprofessional and her pratice unacceptable. She also left 1 stitch in my dog. read more
