I really enjoy soondubu, even on a hot summer day. Savory tofu soup with a bunch of banchan is my kind of heaven. Pair that with the fact that Dubuhaus, which makes their own tofu, serves a complimentary soft serve made with tofu at the end of the meal is why I found myself booking it to this space with a friend on a recent weeknight. If you're familiar with the classic BCD Tofu House, this is basically a more upscale version of that restaurant. The digs are quite elevated, but the focus on tofu stew remains the same. I enjoyed the banchan, some kimchi mandu, and my cod roe soondubu, but I felt that BCD's banchan is much more robust and you can get a whole meal there at a fraction of the price. The tofu soft serve at the end is a nice touch though. Our server was nice, the food came out quickly, and we didn't feel rushed out, but I think there's much better value to be had elsewhere.

Japchae, I think the noodles needed to be rinsed more lol

Service and ambiance 5/5 Food 3/5 Dubu Haus offers some really interesting takes on very traditional homecooked Korean dishes. Tofu dishes were pretty bland but acceptable. Galbi-jjim was good Japchae was way too starchy (maybe just a one time thing) Tried their Kimchi & Pork Kongbiji- which is a very soy pulpy stew. I feel like this is one of those things you either like cause you grew up eating it, or if you have no teeth lol. Anyways, I get what its supposed to be but this dish is a hard pass for me. I don't think I'd return for the food any time soon but there is potential IMO. 4 stars overall for a cool place with great service / friendly staff.

Price - $90 including tax and tip Food - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Ambiance - 5/5 I got a chance to try out the viral dubu haus and it did not disappoint me! I ordered their Marinated prime short rib, soondubu, Spicy Kimchi Jeon(3pc), and Bossam and might I say they were all scrumptious! I love all the dishes were all super unique in their own ways, with the perfect amount of spice and their own unique flavors! I honestly couldn't choose a favorite dish because they were all that good! Also, the dishes were super affordable and the portion size was actually insane! They also gave free soy milk shots at the beginning and tofu with soy ice cream at the end of the meal so that was super sweet of them to offer and provide! The service and ambiance were undeniably amazing. The staff were super nice and welcoming, I couldn't have had a better time here. I will definitely be going back here in the future!

my waiter keep taking unfinished plates from me without asking if I was done and that ruined my experience It's cool that they serve soy milk before the banchan (side dishes). They also offer tofu flavored (think soy milk/kinako powder) after the meal. I think those were the highlights of my experience. The place is well kept and pretty busy on a weekday night.

Been a long time ktown attendee living in NYC. From chicken pubs, fruit soju bars, and delicacy eats at the Gopchang Story across the street. Dubu Haus is unique where it's not just another Korean restaurant offering standard eats - but a more elevated and elegant version of their dishes. First starting with the palette cleanser, their house made soy milk shot drink. Refreshing and you can just taste their freshly squeezed soybeans into this beverage. Was already intrigued and it peaked my interest of other unique dishes to come. Garden fried dubu jeon- each tofu was uniformly cut at the same portion but was different colors. Orange, pink and green fried tofu surprised me as I've always been used to regular yellow fried tofu. Kale, beet and pumpkin tofu was interesting and I enjoyed flavors these brought together with the tofu. 12 hour braised beef ribs - the name speaks for itself and it was rich, brimming with gravy, steaming hot and rips off the bones so easily and you can enjoy that lingering sweetness that's part of the braising process extracted from the bone marrow. Came in a stone pot to retain that hearty taste and this was so much fun to eat. Dessert was the injeolmi soft serve ice cream. Taking a rice cake powdered dessert and transforming it into ice cream got my curiosity and if it could retain that taste. Aside from a doughy rice cake, the taste did convert into an ice cream. It wasn't a vanilla soft serve powdered with the injeolmi sprinkling but the soft serve had a taste of the rice cake too blended in. Carefully the taste inspection on this was thorough and it was accomplished well by the restaurant. A very popular place and higher end Korean style cuisine. Service was prompt and attentive down to making sure we were aware of our reserved time. Strictly we followed our reservation time because the restaurant had more guests coming in, even for a Monday. Overall a good experience, but don't be surprised if your meal is set on a schedule for other customers to enjoy the Dubu Haus experience after you.

DubuHaus is such a gem in NYC! I loved the mandu, and the tofu dishes tasted super fresh and comforting -- honestly very authentic, almost like what I had in Seoul. The soondubu had great flavor, the rice was delicious, and everything felt warm and homemade. I also liked this much more than BCD Tofu -- the taste here feels fresher and more refined. But the best surprise? The free tofu ice cream at the end! So unique, light, and delicious. Definitely coming back whenever I'm craving authentic Korean tofu dishes in NYC.

Came here on a Saturday evening with a group, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, ambiance, and food! The staff starts all of us off with complimentary house made soy milk & banchan. I got the marinated short rib combo, which came with boneless short ribs, a choice of kimchi/beef tofu stew, and rice. Easily shareable with 2 people! At the end, we were served with complimentary injeolmi soft serve. We thought it was a nice touch, completing a wonderful experience. It was a great showcase of their homemade tofu throughout all of their dishes and small bites.

Been wanting to come for a long time for their soondubu after knowing that they make their tofu inhouse. Ended up coming here on the first day of Restaurant Week without planning for it. Shifted gears to order from the restaurant week menu since a $30 dinner is quite a good deal. It's basically the same as their all day special combo but a few dollars cheaper. Whether $30 or regular price, I think the offerings are a good deal. I felt full coming out. I got the marinated prime short rib, fermented soy beef soondubu, nutritious kettle pot rice, and dubu soft serve. I'm impressed by the size and quality of the marinated prime short rib. I would've expected a much smaller portion. Their meat is good quality too despite it being heavily marinated and came out cooked. The fermented soy beef soondubu was too salty and I didn't like the particular soy bean paste they used. I mostly just ate the ingredients without finishing the soup. This was a bigger let down given how I was looking forward to trying their soondubu. Maybe it would be better with a different soup base or just get something else with tofu. I paid extra to get the nutritious kettle pot rice. I like how they add mushrooms, quinoa, and ginkgo to it. It makes the rice tasty enough to eat on its own, though I genuinely needed it to balance the strong flavors of the short rib and soondubu. All their rice have a crusty bottom. It's not necessarily crunchy but wasn't too stiff and tough that I couldn't scoop out to eat. The char flavor is good but I'd prefer fluffiness throughout. I chose dubu for the soft serve since they're supposed to be known for their tofu. It actually ended up being too sweet for me. My parents got the green tea version which ended up being much less sweeter. The matcha flavor is weak and of course doesn't have a soy flavor, but I think it'll be better for me to get that. The interior design is very modern and chic with smooth wood and matte metal touches. The lighting is concentrated on the table with food, so it wouldn't feel like it's shining on me. Side story. It's funny how after I sat down ~20 minutes, I got a call from the receptionist asking if I'm still coming. I guess they forgot to mark that I arrived and was seated.

The food is really good, however, the service is not. Additionally, if you are vegetarian, avoid this restaurant. To bring up the biggest issue, we had a vegetarian in our party who ordered the veggie soondubu (stew). It even has the symbol next to it on the menu stating that it is vegetarian. Two hour horror, halfway through the meal, the vegetarian found an entire squid in their pot. This is absolutely abhorrent, and the restaurant has not wanted to provide a refund for such a major mistake. The other really bad part is that weight staff expect you to clean up as you are eating. They had bus boys coming to our table and making us pass them all of our empty plates throughout our meal. Even as we were trying to enjoy ice cream at the end, they came by and just stared at us and kept telling us to hand them plates. I understand this restaurant wants to have a lot of turnover, but this makes the experience sour. On a positive note, the brisket stew is really tasty, I appreciate all the banchan they also give (kimchi is excellent but made with shrimp paste so be aware). I also really enjoy the ice cream that they give at the end. Overall, the food is really good, but as stated in the beginning, don't expect good service, and don't expect them to truly have vegetarian options or make up for errors.

Sister restaurant to the amazing Howoo (a KBBQ spot), Dubu Haus offers some amazing Korean tofu dishes. While they do highlight their in-house made tofu by incorporating many soy ingredients throughout your dining experience (ie. their complimentary soy milk at the beginning and soy powder soft serve at the end), they also have some other amazing Korean dishes to offer. We got their soondubu, braised tofu, yukhoe bibimbap, meat jeon, and bossam. Everything was phenomenal. We were worried that portions were going to be small but they were actually huge. We ended up not being able to finish most of them. Side dishes were also great and they were very generous to keep giving us more. Definitely an amazing dining experience with a great ambiance, friendly service, and phenomenal food.

Came here for restaurant week and I'm glad I did! For the prix fixe menu, I got the spicy marinated pork with white rice, dwenjang tofu soup, and dubu ice cream (not pictured). The ice cream might've been my favorite part of the meal. With everything included, the portion was large for $30 and I was able to take some home. My friend had the galbi and that was also good. Overall, it was delicious and worth trying. There's also plenty of seating.

Got a reservation for dinner a few days before, the selection was limited so we went at 5:30 as it was the only slot available for 4 a couple days before. The restaurant is has an upscale feel to it and the staff are very friendly. We got the acorn mook, spicy pork and dubu, and seafood hotpot. I didn't really like the acorn mook as it didn't have much flavor, but the other two dishes were fantastic! To finish your meal, they give a free soy powder soft serve which was so good!

Wow wow wow. All i can say is get the prime rib soondubu bc its not like any others in ktown. My friend and i kept raving about it and we want seconds already not even after finishing it!! The cold noodles was almost like peanut butter noodles but on a way better level. The sauce was very savory! Perfect for super hot summer day. Felt really clean to eat that and the salad! The rice with the soondubu had a charr in it. Classy place for dinner! We didnt get the free soymilk sadly but the free ice cream at the end of meal was good lil treat after an already delicious meal! Service was quick for the food but i didnt feel like we were checked in often enough but thats fine. We definitely coming back for the soondubu and to try the other food!!

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

Opening in 2015 in the heart of Koreatown in Midtown Manhattan, the Korean restaurant, Her Name is…read moreHan, was a great place for my wife and me to come for lunch during our 2nd day in NYC. They have great reviews and it is definitely warranted. The restaurant has a solid website, giving accurate information about the hours and menu. It indicated that weekday lunch time would be a good time to try their value-based lunch menu, letting us sample some of their dishes. We walked over from our hotel just before their opening time of noon, and got in line just as they opened. It was a decent size queue, but the dining space inside was large, and everyone in line was able to be seated (including us). Our main server was Jiwoong, and she was lovely throughout. A carafe of tap water was provided with two glasses, so we could refill our own water (I love this about Korean restaurants...wish other restaurants did something similar). Multiple servers interacted with us throughout, and the beautifully prepared food was delivered exactly on time, with the proper temperature. We ended up ordering 4 things. The non-ipa beer on tap was Ball Lightning Pilsner ($9 for 12 oz) and it was OK. Fried Cod Appetizer ($15) - coming out first, the five chunks of lightly deep fried cod was OK, enhanced by the tartar like sauce. There are four choices from the Lunch Premium Bapsang (a set meal with rice, Japanese equivalent is Teishoku), and we chose two of them. I had the Grilled Atka Mackerel ($19), and my wife had the Spicy Pork BBQ ($21). Both came with white rice, a light bean sprout soup (decent), kimchi (not my favorite), a simple green leaf salad, 3 banchans (loved the fish cakes), some grapes, and a light custard based dessert (which was good). I liked my mackerel, well prepared and fried. The pork was indeed spicy with good flavor. Reading about the restaurant later, learnt that the name came to the founder, meaning two things. 'Han' represents a uniquely Korean emotion of mixed grief, sadness, and hidden resentment...we know that we shouldn't feel this way, but we feel a bit better that other Koreans feel it too. It is also the last name of the founder's mother (most Koreans keep their last name after marriage), so the name is an homage (that's what I read on their facebook page) to her. The restaurant is part of the Resy network, and thus using our AMEX provided a $20 statement credit (once a month...this is my favorite sort of credit since the credit is entirely funded by AMEX, and the restaurant gets their full charged amount). Payment was handled at the table, and we were out in under an hour. As we were leaving, we noticed that there now was a queue to get in, so we came at the right time. In terms of the food, I thought the overall taste was good, but the service, extremely reasonable prices, beautiful presentation, and just the overall atmosphere bumped this up to a great rating.

Kinda pricy but def has the vibes and decent upscale-type Korean food!

We also wanted to get drinks, however 2 of the 5 of us didnt have ID and were told if one person didnt have ID, no one could get drinks. I felt like everything we got was unfortunately just okay. The wings had decent flavor but they were small and barely had any meat in them. The seafood tteobokki felt like it lacked depth. The pork shank was unfortunately extremely dry. And the fries were as they come, but the truffle sauce was also nothing special. Overall, glad we tried it but probably a one and done

Tomorrow will be our last day in New York. We had plans to head up to the Empire State Building…read moreObservatory in the evening, so we stopped here for a quick simple dinner with just one hour to spare. We ordered marbled beef steak and naengmyeon, hoping for a speedy meal. Surprisingly, the beef, cold noodles and banchan all blew us away. The marbled beef was outstanding, and our server grilled it perfectly -- it melted in our mouth. Their mushroom sauce was absolutely fantastic. The broth for the buckwheat cold naengmyeon was authentic beef stock, rich and savory without overpowering the natural flavor of the ingredients. The banchan were also incredibly well-made; we finished nearly every side dish on the table. Service was quick and efficient too. It's such a shame we only discovered this restaurant on our final day, we wish we'd come here earlier. I'd highly recommend this spot. Overall rating: 4.5 to 5 out of 5 stars.

It's extremely crispy and very high quality. A large issue I had at this establishment was the service. The server felt unfriendly, and whenever we tried to flag him down, he wouldn't even look at us. It took around 20 minutes after our meal to get our check which was ridiculous. It was a shame because this was easily one of my favorite meals in NYC, but I don't know if I would return solely due to the service.

You get to choose three appetizers, two mains, and one dessert, so it's a great way to try a variety of dishes, especially if you're sharing. The service was friendly and attentive, even though the restaurant was pretty busy. We did have to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation before being seated, but everything went smoothly after that. The restaurant is beautiful inside- liked the interior design choices a lot! My favorite dishes were the asparagus japchae, lotus root gangjeong, and the Korean melon dessert. Overall really enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back to try the regular menu.

Solid Korean spot with a calm, dim interior. We made res for restaurant week as a group of 6, which…read moreallowed us to try a little of everything on their menu. What I got: - Asparagus Japchae: Very good - instead of traditional Japchae noodles, it's sliced asparagus and mushroom. The marinate was delish! - Shrimp Pancake: It was more like an omelette. Not so much of the actual pancake batter. - Spicy Fried Chicken: Nicely fried, standard. The spicy sauce is on the side, which allows us to adjust our bite. - Bossam: I enjoyed this! More Bossam pieces than lettuce, but overall taste of the meat was good. It didn't have the "bland pork" taste. - Pyongyang Cold Noodle: This was my first time having this dish. Seemed pretty traditional. The broth was on the lighter end for me. - Korean Melon: LOVEDD this dessert! A refreshing way to end the meal. The menu denotes cheese, but it wasn't even noticeable. It has a few toasted pine nuts mixed in, which were SOO good. Overall, a very filling meal and worth the $60 restaurant week value! Nothing absolutely blew me away, BUT the flavors were solid and the staff were great. Would come back for another deal!
