Service was fast and wonderful. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived, but even that went quickly. The food was exceptional. The duck arrived quickly and *everything* was incredibly flavorful. My only qualm is the dining area itself; all patrons squeezed into a brightly lit room, sat in slightly uncomfortable chairs, surrounded by hard surfaces reverberating every conversation being had around the room. We have been waiting to try and finally went this evening. OMG! Absolutely amazing food. There were 5 of us and we ordered 2 whole Peking ducks, multiple dumplings, the green beans (best in the world!) and Bao. Since they don't have alcohol license yet, I walked to H‑E‑B next door and bought 2 bottles of wine. They don't charge corkage either. The ambiance is casual. Waitstaff very friendly and fast. Not a single fork, orange chicken, or general tsos chicken in sight! -- if that's what you're expecting then you're not ready to appreciate what duck & dumpling has to offer. As an Asian Houston foodie that's been a frequent San Antonio visitor over the years it's so satisfying to see good authentic Asian food finally making its way over here. Menu full of classics but also interesting menu items that make this place stand out even against the Chinese spots I eat at home (honestly this might be my favorite now!) Pork and shrimp soup dumplings - definite must try, a classic and very hard to master dish that has a lot of components that are easy to mess up. The skin is super thin, so thin you're able to see the soup inside! The pleats are perfectly folded and overall a great texture and not overtly gummy. The soup was clear and super flavorful, no forward taste of MSG but great umami flavor that goes great with soy sauce, vinegar, and some chili oil. Perfection and a great marker of a great Chinese restaurant. Shrimp paste hot and sour dumplings - the dumpling skin is a bit thicker but lends to absorb a lot of the hot n sour soup! Something I don't see a lot on menus but I really enjoyed it. Think of it like a noodle wrapped dumpling! A great balance of sour and savory, the shrimp paste is the perfect contrast to this soup so would definitely recommend you try it. Szechuan Tan Tan noodles : Great Szechuan flavor without it being overpowered by the numbness, the pork has a lot of herbaceous seasoning that pair well with the overall sauce. Super jam packed with flavor and found out that all of their noodles are made IN HOUSE! Great quality at a great value. our definite favorite from the night and if you order this -- the passion fruit cucumbers are a non negotiable , TRUST ME! Eggplant & minced pork noodle : oh my god this is what lo mein from the mall thinks she is. The eggplants are not bitter and braised to perfection which allow it to hold onto all that savory goodness. With the again in house noodles, try this and tell me that that's NOT better than take out lo mein. Passion Fruit Cucumbers: definitely an interesting take on the typical cucumber salad but we are very glad we tried it, definitely could use some work balancing the sweetness of the passionfruit but the vision is there and I'd still order this again. It's super light and refreshing and trust me with all of this flavor you want something bright to cut through all the depth this meal had to offer. We didn't get to try the duck, but just by watching them butcher it while we were waiting I can assure you they're not messing around! That cleaver moves with such precision & you can see the attention to detail! I can't wait to come back and try it! Overall the only critique I would have is that the space is way too small, but honestly it's well worth it! It's a new business working out the kinks so please give them some grace and patience! I thought I had written a review for this place but I guess I haven't. Anyhow, this is a very welcomed addition to San Antonio. Peking Duck is hard to find here. We now have a good place to go. Hands down the best Peking Duck in San Antonio. The Spicy and Crispy Chicken is very good and the portion is huge. The Szechuan peppercorn oil gives it a tingling goodness but not too spicy. The Szechuan Spicy Beef tongue is also very good. And again, the portion is HUGE. It comes in a massive metal pot that is convenient to take home (you'll need to). The stir fried green beans are tasty as were the dumplings. Why only four stars? For one, no hot mustard with the Duck. They serve a rather sweet honey mustard. For two, no hot tea. Otherwise they score high on the Peking Duck scale. Super cute logo as well. This is perhaps the best Taco Cabana remodel ever. read more

December 1. My daughter and I saw the place because we decided to have lunch together. The place seemed pretty cool, but the service was very awkward. They never asked us if we wanted drinks, they just put water on our table. We had to call the waiter over to place our order, but nobody ever checked on us. The food was pretty good and tasted very authentic. The pan fried soup dumplings were amazing. Nobody ever checked on us to see if the food was good or to our liking. Out of nowhere, a lady comes up and says are you done and handed us our bill. She was carrying a tablet and had zero personality. Although the place was not busy it seemed like we were in an inconvenience to her and she wanted us out. I felt like I was in a Starbucks drive-through during the checkout process. This place could do well in the future, but needs a service and personality upgrade big time! Nobody smiles or greets anybody. When you walk in, it's a few ladies that look angry while they're prepping and cooking. I will try it again because the food is good, but if the personality and service hasn't changed, it will probably be my last time. I live around the corner and there's too many choices around the area to put up with bad service. PS: they let people off the streets, come in and try to sell stuff to you while you're eating... almost like peer pressure! I only see that at southside restaurants. Visited on a Saturday evening, and the place was packed -- waited about 30 minutes to be seated. The menu features authentic Northern Chinese cuisine, though the flavors lean a bit heavy on the spicy side, at least based on the dishes we tried. I've been here a couple of times and the food is always so good. I try new things each visit and my top favorite are the combo chow mein, crab puffs (always fresh and crispy), curry chicken and potatoes dumplings, the spicy and sour dumpings and the passion fruit cucumbers which I have never had anywhere else. Overall the portions are really good and fulfilling. Good sized portions for individuals or groups. Each time I go there is hardly a wait especially during the weekdays. The first thing I noticed was the uncleanliness of the dining room. there was food on the floor, the tables were not clean, and the pitcher of water the waitress left on the table was old, dingy, and dirty. you can tell how clean a restaurant is by the cleanliness of the restrooms.
