My family and our friend just had THE BEST experience here. It's hard to find good Chinese food here in the San Antonio area and this, coming from a Chinese/Taiwanese American, I can safely say that this is 100% authentic and so delicious. You can preorder on their website and call to pick it up same day or next day. I am so ecstatic that we got a chance to come eat here. My brother who lives in the area has a new go to place! Such a cool place.. they repurposed an old sonic spot. The Baos were really tasty and delicious.

I tried a new bao spot and got the cha siu pork and mapo tofu fillings! The cha siu pork was my favorite. The filling was generous and was both sweet and savory. The mapo tofu was a unique filling, but it was a little salty. The bao buns re-steam really well at home, with a damp paper towel in microwave or in the steamer plate of your rice cooker/steamer. The protein itself has good flavor and I enjoyed the taste of the filling. The prices are also reasonable, especially considering you can get 20 bao for around $20. My biggest issue is the protein-to-bread ratio. The bao are mostly bread, with very little filling inside. As shown in the picture, the filling doesn't even come close to filling the entire bun. The ratio feels more like 2 parts protein to 5 parts bread, which was disappointing. It gives the impression that you're getting more filling than you actually are, when the filling is really the most important part. Overall, the taste is good and the value isn't bad, but the portion of protein inside each bao left me wanting more. read more

Renovated a sonic so it's all curbside. No dumplings but has baobao buns and pancakes. I called the number and placed my order and changed it to a 20 count. It's cheaper than a regular food truck and I ordered a 8 ounce jar of chili oil for my home. next time I'm gonna try the pancakes and the lotus bun with the pork belly because those look really good. Highly recommend a 20 count with all four of the flavors that they have of baobao. Savory pork was my nieces favorite and the mapo tofu is my favorite. Make sure to drizzle some chili oil. It is more savory than spicy with all the seeds and peanuts in it. Highly recommend. read more

I arrived just as they closed. I did not expect to be waited on, or get anything at all. I certainly did not expect the beautiful lady to come out & let me order. I was honestly taking a photo of the menu, & was preparing to drive away. But, she said they had a little bit left. I said why not, right?!!! I had been trying to get over for some time. Once I got home I did try one of each of the others for dinner, & saved my favorite for the third day, & honestly it was still good. I reheated as she recommended, I pan fried them. The tofu bao was my absolute favorite. The flavor was so fresh. The beef is more of the typical meatball style, pork was the sliced meat style, the saucy one was a ground pork or sausage style. I liked them all. The beef the least, just personal preference with my texture issues.‍ Tofu will be my go-to bao! Its savory, nice gravy veggies with it. I found this place on google map by mistake and decided to go check it out. It appears to be a Sonic converted into a Chinese style restaurant. Yes please! I called the number to see how it works. A very sweet lady answered and explained to me that I can order with her and when it is ready she will bring it out. I ordered the baos to go... anyways they do not have a sit down place. I have tried all 4 flavors of steam bao buns. They are all good but saucy pork is my favorite. The bao bun is not very big. It is a little less than 3" in diameter and about 1" in height. The inside is not stuffed. The wrapper is very fluffy and soft. I recommend you purchase the 20 pieces Bao Box. That is the best value. You can freeze them and they reheat very well. I put it in the microwave for around 25 seconds. The order process is very simple and easy. They pack and label them separately. read more

This spot is using an old sonic for serving so no inside. No you can't go inside you park at a stall and call a number to order and they bring it. I ordered the spicy pork buns steamed and pan fried. The actual bun was a good size but the meat ratio was really REALLY low. It was literally the size of my thumb. Could've been just mines that day. The taste was nothing, less than bland. My order had so much oil I felt at risk of invasion. Maybe the other ones are good I'm not sure. But I'm not sure I'll go back. The workers was very nice so that why it got 2 stars read more

I'm going to try to be fair with this review. It wasn't "bad", but it wasn't something I liked. The Baobao was mostly dumpling with about a teaspoon of meat in the middle. Couldn't really get a "perfect bite" except when you ate all of the filling in one bite and then left with all dumpling. Actually had the meat nugget fall out of one it was so small. The place seemed abandon, but we thought what the heck "give it a try". No one came out, we ordered in the car on the phone with a QR code, no one was around, we did get a text acknowledging the order. Guess I'm old fashioned and like to see a face and at least an acknowledgement. 20 minutes later a nice lady popped out and gave us our food. The place looked closed but there's an open sign lit and one car in parking area otherwise it looks closed. I'm so glad I decided to take a chance. You place order w/QR. wait was about 20 minutes. I had to call them to make sure they were open since again there's no window to see if anyone is inside. So worth the wait. The baos were hot and fresh, so soft. Pork belly was tender and perfectly braised and the steamed buns also had perfect bao pork filler. Came with 2 chili oils. Price is super reasonable. Will definitely return for more items. I ordered the pork boa expecting char siu But it was almost like it was a soup dumpling inside of a bao. A small meatball and kind of juicy broth coming out of it. It wasn't bad it just wasn't what I expected and I'm not sure if I received what I ordered. Because when I look at the pork boa on the website it seems to have black seeds on top. Wasn't what I had my mouth set up for and I felt like the dough to meet ratio was off. I would probably go back and try the pork belly. The other thing about this place is that it's so unattractive. It's a drive-in and you go and order from a QR code at a drive-in parking space. That was fine, you pay online and someone comes out with your order. That being said, it's painted a dark gray has very little color, very little signage, the menus are blank on the side where you're driving in. That would be a great spot to add some cute graphics. It's very uninviting in its decor and I understand that they're probably on a budget but they could have used brighter colors. Maybe print something out to put on the back side of the menus like a dancing boa or something?. I know these things don't seem like much, especially when you're starting out, but you really have to have a critical eye when you open a business and look at what the customer sees when they pull in. I hope it works out for them, I like to be able to go someplace and get something to eat without having to have a full-on mail and spend $30. So I will definitely go back for a snack here and there. I usually don't leave reviews but my experience here wasn't the best. The service was very good, the lady I spoke with over the phone and who I think also gave me my food was very helpful and sweet so props there. But other than that the food was very disappointing. I had low expectations but the portions for the beef baobao were unacceptable, there was one small little meatball worth of beef in there even though the dumplings were pretty big in size. The same goes for the pork, there just was not enough in there and frankly the dough is not flavorful enough to make up for the lack in meat. it was honestly just depressing, I got 12 of them in total and was still left pretty hungry as I had no interest eating the rest of the dumpling with no meat inside of it. I'd honestly rather they be smaller and more consistent with the amount of meat rather than a huge dumpling with one little meatball. overall very disappointing. read more
