Was looking for a place to grab breakfast while the family was shopping and stopped into Duck Deli. They stop serving breakfast at 11 and I walked in around quarter after so instead of going somewhere else to try and find a breakfast sandwich I decided to try the BBQ. I have a hard time turning down BBQ. I went with the BBQ sampler to go; it came with 3 whole chicken wings, 3 ribs, BBQ (vinegar based pulled pork) 2 sides and a few hush puppies. I was satisfied with the wings even though they said they were "hot wings" when they asked if I wanted ranch or blue cheese as a side. They were not hot in any way, someone who can't stand heat would think they weren't hot, however they were still enjoyable. The ribs were my favorite part of the meal. I'm not a rib expert but they were tender and moist and had a good BBQ sauce on them. Then there was the pulled pork. I'm a sucker for pulled pork, no matter where I am if it's on the menus chances are ill be ordering it. This was probably the worst pulled pork I've ever had. As I mentioned it was a vinegar based, but they took it over the top. I wanted pork with vinegar sauce, not the other way around. Not that it was wet with vinegar but that was all you could taste, I couldn't even finish it. My sides were onion rings and slaw which were both pretty regular. Overall I thought it was good with the exception of the pork. The pork makes me want to give it 3 stars but I question if maybe they just made the pork wrong that day or something along those lines, I don't think they could possibly serve that on a regular basis and get people to order it. If I ever go back maybe ill try the pork to see if that was the case Overall, I thought it was solid food (except for the pork), and I would probably go back if I was in the area. read more

Have to try the Ruben and the onion rings. Among the best Ruben ever. Onion rings are nothing to brag about. French fries must be the best around. If I've ever had better, I don't remember it. Half rack of ribs was great. Pulled pork sandwich wonderful. Maui platter highly recommended. Overall a great place to eat. Homemade coleslaw is good also. read more

Good stuff! We had crabcake sandwiches all around - they weren't necessarily the best I have ever had, but they didn't skimp on the lump crab. A little too fried for me, but tasty, for sure. I had a side blackened mahi taco, and it was fantastic. I'll return for them alone. We also ordered dessert and within minutes they showed up by magic through a secret door, brought by the friendliest pastry chef I've ever met. The peach cobbler was amazing, and my daughter's ice-cream brownie nailed it. Our waiter was friendly and the place was cozy. In all - a great lunch. read more

Big fan of the Duck Deli. I have been to the Outer Banks many times and always make a stop for a sandwich or chicken wings. The food is always good. Great service as well. I always try to get a new t-shirt but if you come at the end of the season they usually run out. It's worth stopping in for good consistent food at a good price. read more

I have just consumed the greasiest meal of my life. Having ordered the sampler BBQ plate I thought I had a pretty good shot at finding something that would be pretty good. I didn't. In this day and age, especially in the state of North Carolina, I figured the BBQ would be pretty good. The bar is set pretty low in the outer banks as far as food quality goes. I'm rather surprised by the good reviews for duck deli. The BBQ was not very good. Ribs were not good, chicken wings weren't tasty, pulled pork was citrusy and not good. Hush puppies were just ok and the chicken salad sandwich was pretty weak. With the good reviews I was hopeful but found it to be a big let down. Won't be back. read more

Stopped in for lunch, this place is good eats. Had the smoked tuna on bagel (first choice of smoked salmon was not available) per our waiters advice, good recommendation. My lunch pal had the crabcake and approved also. Waiter was quick, efficient and handsome (bonus). Will return. read more

Nice country style dinner, with take-out. Great service (thanks Laura you're 5 stars), and the food was good. Had breakfast, (one of the few places open on Sunday!) food served hot, and fast. My wife and I stopped in for lunch while on vacation. I had mahi fish tacos and she had a turkey sub. The fish tacos were some of the best I've ever had, rivaling ones I've had in California restaurants. The turkey sub was fresh and tasty. Excellent service. Prices were a little high for lunch but it's a tourist town, so I guess that's to be expected. read more

First time trying eastern Carolina BBQ. Had pulled pork sandwich and I thought the texture and flavors were excellent, though given my lack of experience with Carolina BBQ I had no reference point. Service was friendly and attentive. Place has a vast menu with sandwiches, salads, and bbq. Decent price point. A little dingy inside but didn't seem to be unclean. After reading the reviews of Duck Deli, I have to add my opinion. First off, the place is not "borderline divey" it is a beach deli, it is clean, comfortable, bright and cheerful. Second, the staff was the best! Always friendly and helpful. Third, and most importantly, the food was outstanding! We had dinner there two nights while vacationing there and were never disappointed. We only wish that we had discovered this place sooner on our past trips. My boys had to get shirts and are still talking about the wings and ribs. It is my hope that the mean person that several on here have mentioned is no longer working there. The place is 100% worth the trip. And no... I am not a relative or friend of the owner. read more

Went to this restaurant for dinner tonight and it was great! The food was very good and filling. The portion sizes were bigger than average and the service was good and friendly. We tried the burgers, fresh catch of the day, and the bbq. It all was delicious and the prices were not bad either. Will be going back soon before leaving the box! read more

Don't even bother!! Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would rate their food if I ever had the opportunity to eat it. We had a group of 16 trying to place an order. After holding for 8 minutes then being hung up on and calling back again with a 6 minute hold time, we were told "we're closed." They close at 8PM and we started placing calls at 7:20PM. Coming from a small family business myself I felt the need to at least voice my opinion. Side note, when my husband decided to follow up with the owner the follow up was again sub par. Rude, aprubt, and no apoligies. We have heard good things about their food but unfortunately we'll never know. As a year round owner/renter we will make it a point to never use or recommend this horrendous place. Also, we live in Pennsylvania close to the brothers location, just as bad!! read more

Can't rate the food - didn't get that far. We had just gotten in for our OBX vacation and wanted to get a bite before check in. We walked in and after 10 min of standing there with my family of four - went and used the restroom. Very dirty and unclean - trash piled up. After I came out my wife informed me no one had even acknowledged us yet. We waited another 10 min and as the hostess just stood at the counter. Finally we said never mind and left.
