This place is located right across the beautiful waterfront shops in Duck, NC. We stopped by here because of a friends suggestion to try their pizza fries. I know they have more to offer on their menu but we had other places to visit/eat today. The parking can be limited but since the shops were right across, you can park there and walk if needed. We brought our dog with us and this place is dog friendly. They love the furry friends! We just sat outside in their outdoor seating area. It has a couple of picnic table and a stage for live bands as well. The pizza fries we came here for was actually taken off the menu according to our waitress but she knew exactly what we were talking about. She got it made for us no problem and we were charged the price of mozzarella sticks. It was pretty damn good! Maybe they should put it back on the menu just saying . Zero stars. Take out food was gross and we did not get everything we ordered. Onion rings were soggy. Mozzarella sticks were dry. Chick bbq sandwich had bones in it. First time to Duck and we ordered from here 3 times in a week! The service was 5 star! Even during a pandemic the staff was friendly and efficient. Duck Deli, think long & hard about whether you really want to be a restaurant. I mean, there are so many other things you could be that you might better at, like an east-of-the-iron curtain place for being mean to strangers! After all as a restaurant, customers will keep coming in expecting to be given the food they actually ordered, and not being fussed at, and clearly that's not quite your forte. When we came in to the largely empty restaurant, no one greeted us but we asked if we could sit at an open table. The server said yes. A few minutes later another server took our orders but scolded us saying "for next time, we should wait to be seated." Hey, we're all still learning how this whole restaurant thing works! Our breakfast food was decent except the hash browns and biscuits were pretty dried out. Then came the "biscuit incident" - one of our party didn't receive his biscuit, though to be fair there was some confusion about which thing he ordered. In any case we enquired after the missing biscuit and you could hear the original server cussing out our table pretty heavily from the kitchen. She came out and slammed the biscuit plate on the table, instructing us that we "should get better at ordering." Yes ma'am! I will get work on that right away ma'am!Everyone was too scared to eat the biscuit at that point, and also scared to leave it on the table as we might get a rock-hard biscuit lobbed at our car on the way out. Not Good. Ordered take out and they gave us the wrong order then refused to give us our correct order and hung up on us. We called back and spoke to the same person and they laughed and said not their problem and hung up on us again. The food we did receive was so so at best. Definitely not a true BBQ place. What a pleasant surprise. I like this place. Lil and MB had gone the day before for lunch and raved. We were in a mood so we began with ff covered in marinara and mozzarella. Best rendition ever. The fries were thick but not quite steak fries. Perfectly fried and balanced with the marinara and mozzarella so they retained a crunch. Wife's lunch entree was bagel, salmon and cream cheese. She loved it. I had the barbecue platter/sampler. 3 ribs, 3 wings, some pulled pork, hush puppies, onion rings and artichoke salad. Not quite as much food as it sounds. Well, it was a lot of food. Everything was really good. The pulled pork was vinegar based sauce so beware if you are not used to that! Service was very good! Had a very musty, dirty smell. The burger I ordered was obviously frozen, and my father's chicken salad was so dry, and the beer he ordered to swallow the pathetic paste they call chicken salad, was bitter. Even the sweet tea was horrible. How did they mess that up? Long story short, don't waste your money. We did a to-go order and I am lost for words. The food was terrible. I have never even written a food review before but the amount of complaints my family gave me about this food pushed me towards this review. The BBQ chicken sandwich had a bone in it, the mozzarella sticks weren't melted at all so it was just basically an order of breaded cheese sticks, they only gave us two of our side orders that were supposed to come with the meal, the chicken tenders and fries were burnt, and the onion rings were soggy. My family loves this spot. Everything we have ever tried has been delicious. I highly recommend the cheeseburger, the wings, the Turkey sub, and the fries. The service is great here also. The only negative is the seating as the only seating is outdoor picnic tables that could use some TLC. However, this does not deter us. We visited in early April and this was one of the only places open. I'm so glad we stopped in! The owner was incredibly nice. The breading on the crabcakes and hush puppies was the best I've ever had! We also had baked beans and coleslaw, also delicious. I wish the portions of the sides had been a little larger but I actually had the perfect amount of food! I will dream about those crabcakes and hush puppies! Came here with my best friend and her family. There wasn't really a wait but it could be because they were out of RIBS...and WINGS so..if you wanted to order the sampler...you would probably have to come back another time.Since they were out of both i decided i would go ahead and try the pulled pork platter.It comes with 2 sides of your choice and hush puppies I chose the baked beans and the artichoke salad. The Pulled Pork had a strong punch of cider vinegar so i had to add a few squirts of BBQ sauce to cover up the pungency.I know Carolina BBQ has a bit of a vinegar kick but it was a bit too much for me.The Baked beans were a bit salty for me perhaps it's because it was from the bottom of the pot? The Artichoke salad was okay nothing too special probably wasn't the best choice considering the Pulled Pork was vinegary also. The Hushpuppies were great even tho mine soaked in a bit of the vinegar sob from the Pulled Pork. Service:Our server was really working for his tip..he seem to have alot of jokes about everything and didnt seem to take him self too seriously but i think it kept us amused especially since he was from richmond. Duck Deli, the Mahi Mahi taco's were a hit with my oldest child, the youngest destroyed the Grilled Cheese, the Grilled Ruben was a great proportion of sauerkraut to corned beef, then there was the Duck buster burger.... Great greeting at the door, with a smile and a huge welcome. Both front of the house employees were co-waiting so our wine glasses and water glasses were never empty. Caesar salad fresh, crisp and chicken slightly warm, telling me it was just cooked. Reuben was hot and stuffed with corn beef. Great flavor . BBQ Platter was good, they give you plenty/variety of sauces. Hush Puppies included and two sides. Kids had Grilled Cheese and they liked it, and my kids are picky! I would give this establishment a 3.5 if I could; it's just not a 4 for me. We came here for a quick and easy lunch. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat (toasted) with tomato. It came with chips. My fiancé ordered the duck buster which was 2 burgers (small), pulled pork (dry), cheese, and a fried onion. That also came with chips. My fiancé liked it overall but felt the $12 price tag was a bit much. I also felt 8.99 for my sandwich with chips was overpriced. We ordered our toddler the 3 piece chicken tender with fries. He didn't eat much but seemed the enjoy the chicken. That was 6.99. The quality was average, the staff was nice albeit busy, and the price was a bit overpriced for the serving. I ordered a 1/2lb coleslaw and 1/2lb baked beans to bring back to my family to have with dinner and that was $8. Should have ordered a larger size because they look like 1/4lb servings. read more

Pretty good 3-4 stars. The ribs and pulled pork tasted "porky" even though they are pork. I prefer to taste the smoke and seasoning. The chicken wings are big but a little spicy but pretty good. The sampler was a big portion. Baked beans are great! We ate at their picnic table outside which was perfect during Covid.
