Came by on Monday 8/14 at 2 pm to finally try it. Doors were locked, chairs up and no note or anything. Strange business practice.

Came in on on June 13th around 3pm. It was my first visit to DD and I was very excited. I was picking up doughnuts for myself and my colleagues. It was just 4 doughnuts. I placed my order. I waited 15 minutes and finally asked if there was an issue as there were no other customers in queue before me. The older man who took my order looked at the lady who was working and started to make more batter. He did not seem to know what was going on. This same man also told the next customer that it would be another 5 to 10 min before the batter was ready. I didnt have time to wait. I asked for a refund and will not be coming back. He had to wait for the next customer to pay cash to open the register....he did not know how to issue the money back on my credut card. read more

Wasn't able to have my first great experience here. No hit on the donuts. But myself and 2 other people waited 10 mins before they were to open. Three young lady inside saw us and still waited until 10 min after to tell us they didn't have the supplies and weren't opening and had no clue when. She lost 3 customers and surely me from that location! ***Update. I was able to try this location again and although it does take a long time to get donuts (somewhat rightfully so), I wish the staff was more inviting and produced smiles. Waited 35 minutes for two donuts and one of them was not what we ordered. There is nothing family friendly when the mom behind me decided to leave without her donuts because she couldn't wait any longer with young children who had no where to seat. My kids do love their donuts but I'll have to persuade them next time to go to that place that sounds just like it and serves them in a fraction of that time. read more

The donuts are heavenly! Especially the maple bacon one. And they are served freshly made, and are made to order which makes it extra special and good. I hate coming here. They are SO slow and always understaffed at the time I come (between 7-8am). But it's a necessary evil because my office mates and I get sick of Dunkin' Donuts and these are a treat for the office when we have something to celebrate. So, I come here maybe 2-3 times a year. There's typically like 10 people waiting for donuts, 1 person at register and doing coffee and another employee making the donuts and they are always running out of dough or whatever. It's annoying I'm sorry ! But the donuts are pretty tasty. And the staff are nice. They can't help that their manager staffed them poorly. ‍Ive had to wait over 25 minutes for 8 donuts! It's SO frustrating especially in the morning . It's totally beyond ridiculous. I would recommend avoiding this location. I keep coming back because I live close by but it's a grave mistake each and every time. I'm literally like an hour late to work ever time I come here and it's embarrassing. Donuts are great! Best donuts around. However, this is a perfect example of why you shouldn't hire children. We walked into the shop at 6:30, 30 min before closing. There were 3 people ahead of us. It took about 20 minutes for us to order and get our donuts. Why? because of the 3 girls working, only 1 was helping customers. The other 2 were cleaning. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. If you are open, help the customers. At one point there was a line to order all the way to the door. Yet, one person was in the back doing dishes instead or taking orders or making donuts. In fact, instead of helping make donuts Ine girl was putting the toppings in new containers to prep for the next day. So, she was actually slowing down the girl who was making donuts. People kept walking into the shop all the way until 7. At 7, there was about 20 people waiting for donuts yet two girls were in the back cleaning. Also, They switched out jobs at one point and the girl in the back cleaning came up front to make donuts without changing gloves. read more

My favorite place for a donut. I find myself craving it all the time. I love the fact that it is freshly made to order and the toppings are awesome. You can have any type of topping and go crazy with your donut including having bacon on top of your donut. Also the staff here is amazing! I used to think a fresh, hot Krispy Kreme donut was the most delicious donut in existence. Then Duck Donuts came along with their just as delicious and fresh donuts and they are made-to-order? Be still my heart! Yes, it's a bit of a wait to get your donuts, but they are beyond worth it! We have loved duck donuts from the Fairfax location but the 30 minute drive each way is a bit much. Needless to say I was very excited that a new location had opened up so close to us. Now I need to temper that excitement a little. King Street is very new so hopefully they're working out what I thought were obvious issues. Dough tasted like proportions were off, and/or not mixed correctly. Tasted uneven with unmixed flour. Had lemon icing and looked and tasted like it had oxidized. Hopefully the King Street location gets it together because it is so much more conveniently located for us. read more

Duck Donuts was on my list of places to stop while visiting Virginia for the first time. The donuts were some of the best I've ever had. I love that you can create your own and all the different flavor options. There are days I can go for bare doughnuts (they are good as is), but I dare you to try and get creative. You can basically ask for any combination you want and it's all just part of the experience. Though it's almost always packed, the crew here knows how to keep the lines moving. I don't think I've ever seen any customer unhappy with their box. I would personally never go to this place because I believe the donuts are friend in soybean oil which is not good for you and probably GMO. Nevertheless, I referred a friend that loves donuts and they checked it out. Overall they were disappointed. They said they did not eat the donuts warm (maybe half an hour later) so they may have been better if they had but they did not enjoy the cake texture of the donuts either way. We ordered a dozen donuts online and were given a pickup time. We showed up to pick up our order at the time specified. We noticed that there were 4-5 people behind the counter just standing around. There was what appeared to be a teenage boy with a Red Sox hat leaning against the counter just scrolling on his phone. It was a few minutes before anyone even looked up long enough to see us standing there. It took them a while to find our order (it was on the magnetic strip behind where all of the staff were standing around and not working). It was only then that they started filling the order which took about another 10 minutes for a dozen donuts. Someone who appeared to be a manager came over and tried to explain that the person now filling our order is new and that's why it was running late. That's fine, we understand that staff are slower when they first start, but that doesn't do anything to explain why the other staff were just standing around, not filling orders, and not acknowledging the customers. These are some of the worst donuts I have ever tried. We visited this spot after looking at reviews. This place serves cake donuts, only cake donuts meaning no matter the topping you get, it will be a cake donut below the icing and topping. So if you like the soft donuts that you find at any other local donut shop do not come here. Not only are these donuts not good but they are over priced, just about $3 dollars for a single donut & if you want a dozen itll cost you about $15 dollars after tax. This place is ridiculous and not good. The donuts are dry and most definitely not worth what they are priced. Now if these were actually good, then I wouldn't mind the price but they are awful. I will not be returning to this spot, the customer service was okay. I would expect more friendliness given the place was empty but I guess no attitude is better than bad attitude. Living close to DC, I was ecstatic when Duck Donuts finally opened up in Alexandria near Arlington. I eat a fair amount of donuts and Duck Donuts surpassed my expectations! Not only is it really cheap for custom donuts, the donuts itself are very delicious and super customizable. All the donuts are freshly made on premises and you can actually see them create your donuts as you move down the line towards pick up. The lines can get long on the weekend, so be prepared for that. It moves fairly quick and not too bad of a wait. The establishment itself is small but there are some seating inside and outside. read more

It was my first time going to duck doughnuts and from such a small franchise I wasn't expecting very much but, what I got was fantastic. The store was very nice and tidy and the service was super great especially the young lady Trinity who took my order. She explianed the whole process very thouroughly which helped alot.I really liked how I could see the doughnuts as they were being made and all of the choices they had. The bacon doughnuts were by far my favorite and I will definantly be returning for another dozen some time soon. read more

No reason this place should not have 5 stars. Hot, fresh customizable donuts to digest at your own peril. Generous toppings abound. This is not where you get the dozen donuts for your 7am meeting. Not cost or time efficient in that sense. This is an indulgence. A warm, crispy, cakey and sometimes gooey treat. You can download and print or at least look at the menu in advance so that your ordering can go smooth because it can be fast paced. I wish they had donut holes. read more

I visited this duck donuts location for breakfast with my daughter and we absolutely loved it. The bagel with egg and cheese was really delicious, and my daughter was almost drooling when she saw her ice cream Sunday donut. All of their donuts are so perfectly fluffy and yummy! The staff was very helpful and they worked very efficiently. All in all, it was a very fun experience and I recommend that everyone visits this location. read more

I've been to numerous duck donut locations and this one was not as good as others I've tried. I'm not sure why but the donuts seemed way smaller than the one in Arlington and it was super messy ( still tasted great ). The staff didn't really say much. I am a huge fan of Duck Donuts in general, but this location has me scratching my head. When I went in the first time things were good. The second time they were out of sundaes, the coffee was ice cold, and my order was wrong (a couple of donuts were not right) but I didn't feel like waiting or arguing about so I just took the box and left. They were for my coworkers but still, for price of these donuts the order should have been correct. They did taste good though... they always do. I just think this location needs to get it together. Hire staff that cares and is capable because it seemed to be a cluster that morning and I only had two people ahead of me (and again, cold coffee at 7:30am... seriously? Maybe it was from the day before). I have been to the Fairfax location many, many times and never had any issues with my orders and it ran like a well oiled machine. I stopped in here after an appointment nearby. Not many other people were there at 11am on a Wednesday so I was served very quickly. Cool concept (that you get to choose your combos and see them made in front of you), but can be overwhelming to choose them yourself. Next time I might just stick with their recommendations.
