I came to the store and they turn on the lights and didn't even acknowledge me or the line of people standing at the door..you have to place your order in front of the store. Duck Donuts is a charming little place with cute duck & doughnut motifs around the store. Doughnuts are literally made to order! My three teens ordered the following: chocolate covered, rainbow sprinkles, hot fudge on one; cinnamon sugar, Oreo crumbles, salted caramel & vanilla ice cream on another; and strawberry frosted, Oreo crumbles, hot fudge & frosting on the last one. Went twice while on the island. The 1st time was crowded but everyone was working hard. The only reason I took a star away is because the manager was nasty to the elderly lady working the register. All she did was say there wasn't any tea. He told her it pour a cup of tea that he handed her from the back over ice. What I got was unsweetened not cold tea. The 2nd trip I ordered on line. Is it just me or does anyone else dislike cake donuts as much as I do? Power to the Cruller - which Duck donuts apparently doesn't serve... First, take a ring of yellow cake, then you add sloppy sugary sauces and glazes and then what do you get? Soggy cake rings that you have to eat with a fork because they're too soggy to pick up. While there was nothing wrong per-se with the flavors, I just wouldn't call these donuts. The help was friendly but the coffee was old. If you're looking for something like a KrispyKream don't go here. If you're looking for something completely different then give it a try. read more

The best and nicest people work here!! The GM was super friendly and had the biggest smile on his face. Was very helpful with our decisions!! He seemed to go out of his way to accommodate every one that came in the door. Attempted to go get donuts here. We are from out of town and didn't realize that the place was only open for online orders. The person opening was completely rude as he told us there were multiple orders ahead of us and they only accepted online orders (not reflected online anywhere). His attitude was horrible. Really disappointed. The ordering system is very inefficient so there's a long wait to order. The same person who takes your order makes your coffee, which holds up the line a lot. The reason for my low review though is that the donuts don't look a thing like the photos on the menu. The best example of that from my attached picture is the powdered and the oreo cookie donuts. There's just a sprinkling of power and cookie crumb. Dunkin Donuts does a better job. Really wasn't worth the hour wait in line. read more

Amazing Donuts / Bad Employees / Highly Recommended! I was all set to write a negative review after leaving the shop today.....but then I ate the donuts. These are the best donuts I've ever eaten. I like the idea that they're made-to-order to reduce waste and ensure freshness. Flavors were great, toppings were very good. I have only good things to say about the donuts themselves. I would go back in a heartbeat for more. That said, The shop appeared completely empty when we got inside. We sort of meandered around looking for a menu or display case, but that's not how this place works. You need to grab a small menu worksheet and fill out your order to hand to an employee. Some of the menus had different options then others, which was a little confusing at first. The process was fine after we figured things out, but we didn't see any employees until about 5 minutes into filling out our order. Two older employees slowly came out of the back, never greeted or acknowledged us, and stood as far away from us as they could until we had to yell over to them to come help us with a question. The responding employee slowly walked over, gave us a one word answer, seemed annoyed that we bothered him, then immediately went back to stand with his co-worker. Overall, the in-shop experience was very bad, and was only heightened by the large sign over the counter promising friendly and engaging customer service. I think any confusion we had about the ordering process would have been quickly solved by better employees But to re-iterate: best donuts I've ever had :) This review is more about making the owners aware of our in-shop experience, rather than telling anyone not to go here. Stopped here because we haven't had time to get to ours in NY. There was a line to order, but that went quick. You can't go inside because of pandemic, so do yourself a favor and order ahead. It takes 20-25 minutes for them to get your order done and we only ordered 3 donuts lol. They were all good. Hubby got the maple bacon because everything tastes better with bacon I got lemon coconut which was very good and my daughter got the vanilla w/Oreo and fudge and she enjoyed hers. Would I wait 25 minutes again? No, but I would order ahead and pick up if we ever decide we want to try them again. I think COVID is to blame for the disorganized system but come on, they've had months and months to adapt. This is a "one size fits all" donut shop. The basic donut is dressed to order with various toppings. I have always liked the "yeasty" kind of donut that tends to melt in my mouth. The standard Duck is more of a cake-like donut with a dozen different toppings. Tasty, but I wouldn't make a special trip to return. read more

Awful service and disappointing donuts made this one of the low points of our recent Hilton Head vacation. After visiting 3 different Duck Donut shops on North Carolina's Outer Banks (where the chain originated), we were thrilled to find a location a short drive from Sea Pines. But the cashier was rude and unhelpful, and despite a nearly empty store when we arrived, couldn't bother to help us find the paper form we needed to place our order. When our donuts were delivered, they were doughy and undercooked -- a far cry from the gooey goodness we had experienced in North Carolina. A good Duck Donut will win you over forever. But the chain's Hilton Head location does service disservice to the brand and needs some serious improvements. read more

It is so easy to give this place 5 stars. I would give it 10 if I could. First off they make your donuts fresh to order. These blow any other donut we have ever had out of the water. They are so soft and so warm when you get them. You also get to creat your own donut which was a hit for our children. My son said the S'mores donut we the best thing he has ever had. My daughter got a chocolate salted caramel and our other daughter got a Halloween themed sprinkle donut and loved them equally as much. We made sure to get the classics too ( glaze, powered sugar, and cinnamon sugar) yum yum The price of the donuts are also great, especially for such great quality. The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our experience! The complimentary water they provide was also a bonus for after eating the amazing donuts. Duck donuts was nearby and interesting in that you build your own donuts. We were heading to the nearby restaurant 843 and two hours early so we decided we needed a snack. Boy were we excited when everyone who was ordering and walking by were clearly excited to tell anyone coming in how awesome they were! This place had cake donuts with every sprinkle,sauce,and glaze you can imagine. They even had maple glaze with bacon! Yum!! Very cool and very delicious! The menu is front and back and you can check off the toppings etc for each donut individually, I suggest you buy a dozen! you pay the same with one or none topping/glaze. The price was 7.50 per 1/2 dozen, or so and we felt we got a much better product than the nearby dunkin. Watching the machine shoot out the donuts was cool too. read more

Wow, great donuts. You can basically customize each donut by glaze, syrup, and topping. Want peanut butter and bacon, they can hook you up!
