Ok, I tend to focus on and read only the negative reviews. That noisy minority, in the case of Duck Tavern, are suspect. You don't have to be a local to enjoy. That said I'm on the outgoing side of the interaction spectrum so take that as you may. First time visit, the bartenders were fabulous, friendly and attentive. Who would expect more? Yeah no one should. The crowd, on a Saturday night was clearly local but not at all unwilling to engage in conversation once I conjured up the nerve (I.e. my 2nd beer). A mixed crowd, from early 20s to all the way up. Not a sketchy place, anyone should feel comfortable. Admittedly, my low water mark for a dive bar is my requirement that they have proper paper towels in the washroom. Past reviews of mine bring this up. To me there are very few things worse than walking out of the washroom finishing drying my hands on my pants! ;-) In this case, I make an exception (truly my first) because everything else was great. I'm not usually someone who writes reviews. And I'm definitely not someone who throws around 5-star ratings unless they're truly deserved. That said, when a place earns it, I'm more than happy to say so. For me, The Duck Tavern really starts with the bartenders. Leli and Ali have a way of turning a simple beer into a whole experience. You sit down planning to have one drink, and before you know it you're enjoying the atmosphere, the conversation, and the vibe of the place. The bar itself is fun, welcoming, and stocked with all kinds of beers and drinks you don't always find at a typical neighborhood spot. Personally, I love that they always have ice-cold Moosehead ready to go--credit to the owner for that. Late review from a year ago, I wanted to order wings, which I have before, especially for takeout, but it had been a while. when asking how spicy the wings are - I was told by a sarcastic waitress, "mild is mild, medium is medium, and spicy is spicy." check was paid we left without ordering food. The snidy remark, stated in a pretentious way, was not helpful or useful. The question was asked in a belittling way. We go to plenty of bars and restaurants and have never gotten that response when ordering wings. Each establishment does a different spicy level. Mild is not mild ever where. read more

Little neighborhood pub in Boca Raton. First time here and had easy parking in front. They have a few outside patio tables for use when not rainy. Went inside and met with the outgoing bartender, Sara Mae, who poured us some cold tap craft brews. Ordered the chicken wings and the smoked fish dip with chips and sliced jalapeno peppers. Both meals were prepared and served quickly and the fish dip was crazy good. Fun games scattered around the pub. Very clean men's bathroom with lots of beer and whiskey wall decor. You better be a local and a frequent customer when going to this place. We live close and decided to walk over and try it. The place is what you would expect from a dive bar. What I did not expect was there was one bartender servicing the bar and and all the tables! She yelled from the bar to us that there is "No table service". So we went to bar to order drinks. They were out of cranberry juice. We asked for menus which were disgusting to touch. Crumpled, filthy and sticky. With that, we left and ate elsewhere. Dirty place. I would never order food there. This place has been here for over 20 years and was previously another bar with ugly in the name. Yes, it's a "dive" bar but it was clean and bright. It didn't even smell of smoke -- although there were a couple folks sitting outside with a cigarette. There is no smoking inside. We got here a bit after lunch hour, and they were pretty empty. We sat at the bar and got great service from Sarah Mae. They had a number of lunch specials on the board including a soup of the day and a full menu with some innovative choices plus the usual bar food. My husband started with their fried ravioli appetizer. They were deep fried and a bit over cooked. He said they were okay -- better when dipped in the tomato sauce. My side salad that I had to start was very good. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. It also had cucumbers and tomatoes and black olives in it. For our main, we shared an order of 4 mini burgers. Each came on a soft bun. There was a piece of cheese and a small dill pickle on each small hamburger. They were great! Instead of regular fries, we opted for the duck chips. The chips are house made potato chips -- so much better than regular ones. And a signature dish that we had to have and yes, we liked them. We didn't try any alcoholic beverages today, but they had a lot of various types of beers from which to choose. They also have a full liquor bar. We figured that the gal next to us drinking Tito vodka martinis in the middle of the day was doing so to survive (stand?) her husband who couldn't decide where to sit and moved three times! We absolutely love this place, but tonight we were shocked to see there was one girl left to run the place by herself! Not only was she bartending alone, she was COOKING everything too. She was running it like a champ but we couldn't believe the owners and management would leave her to do everything alone. There were plates and cups stacked up because she couldn't even get a second to bus things. She greeted us with a smile and was honest that it may be a few minutes before she could get to us. But she gave amazing service and hospitality as soon as she could. Shame on the management for understaffing and expecting one person to do the job of 3. It shows a lack of regard towards the employees and is generally bad management. Bar staff work primarily for tips so it's not like it would break the bank to have another hand around. read more

I had a stupid great time at this bar visiting an old friend from Fort Myers the other day. He drove several hours to see me so I did some searching on Yelp for a fun place for us to hang out and stumbled upon The Duck Tavern. I am really glad I did, it turned out to be an excellent decision. We met a ton of amazing Boca locals who taught us about the town's history and laughed snd drank with us. This is a super cute place with really reasonable prices and delicious food. We had The Duck Chips. I wish I took a photo but we simply inhaled them. They were hand cut potato chips which were fried and served with an amazing vinegar based cream sauce. They offered a ton of outdoor seating on their new patio which is also covered in case it rains. We don't have any bar I can compare this to back in Asheville, NC. I can't wait to visit again next time I am down here to see my mom in Boca. read more

The Duck Tavern is a super chill place to grab lunch, lunch and drinks, drinks, happy hour, etc. I've been there a couple of times to grab a burger and fries during my lunch break, and it's been solid. It radiates local hangout, situated on Federal Highway between Yamato and Hidden Valley, with residential homes nestled behind the establishment. You gain the sense more than a couple of people walk down from their houses to grab some beers, then stumble back. And the food is solid. Additionally, they have a nice craft beer selection in a tall beverage fridge behind the bar, and they have a nice liquor selection. Not saying you're going to get an old fashioned here, but they do have good specials on beers for happy hour, taco tuesdays, and wing wednesdays. It's a chill place to watch a game, have a beer and burger (or wings). Haven't had much else there, but they do seem to have a solid kitchen menu from what I've read. read more

However above average in cleanliness, has a good ambiance about it and attracts a super friendly fun group of very sociable people. It has a huge ever changing selection of beers, I was last informed 137, and best off, Yelp friendly with check-in discount offers. They also offer other discounts such as for golfers by showing your scorecard, FAU University, Lynn University, In the BIZ etc. One of the best times to hit the place is around 4:00pm or slightly thereafter for their 2 for 1 happy hour, particularly because of the fun crowd, which seems to come in just about all age and from all backgrounds. read more
