The actual worst bar I've been in. In town for business and stoped here on my way to the hotel. I was instantly taken back and smothered with the smell of smoke. (After doing research the next day, apparently it's legal to smoke indoors in some FL establishments.) there where people smoke all over the bar and zero ventilation. Stopped in for a quick drink and they were just too busy. The bar is just that...a bar, kinda dirty, real smokey. Not the perfect model of efficiency, both of the bartenders were clearly in the weeds trying to handle the volume of patrons. We went for lunch and it took over 40 minutes to get our food. We actually had to take it to go because we didn't have enough time to eat it there. It was a rather horrible experience, their DUCKS were not in a row that day. I would never go back for lunch, nor suggest it to anyone else. Stopped in for the first time in many years last Wednesday. I remembered they had great food. Waited at the table for 30 minutes and no service so went up to the bar. There were two of the rudest bartenders I've ever encountered......advised us we need to order food from the bar which was fine! No table service. Problem was both the male and female bartenders only wanted to wait on what appeared to be regulars. Several of them smoking cigarettes right at the bar with no consideration of anyone else in there. Glad those two bartenders work there as I can't imagine any other bar accepting their complete lack of appropriate behavior toward a customer. read more

I started with chicken spring rolls which were pretty good. My gf had jalapeño poppers which were good/average. I had the grilled sausage with broccoli rabb & sharp provolone & roasted peppers on homemade focaccia. The peppers missing & the provolone was not sharp. My gf had the Chicago beef with gardinere. Not real Chicago gardinere & too light on the beef & lacking flavor. A dive bar with dive bar food. We won't be back. Local Pub. I enjoyed this place. This joint renewed my faith that Boca is not a snobby city. Two for one beers during happy hour and a great jukebox. I had the two Chicago Hotdogs and fries. These dogs were beautiful. These were just as good as Portillos In Chicago and looked too good to eat. The only issue with them was the buns needed to be steamed just a bit. Again I enjoyed them. I was gonna have the wings, but I like drums only and they would not sell them that way. Overall I can see myself coming here again when I visit my son at FAU. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! Ok, relatively busy Sunday afternoon, Trac(E,I,Y) was slingin' drinks and keeping pace without issue. Food was on-point and salad looked and tasted fresh. Great beer deals, good crowd, extremely loud ringer on the phone and generally positive vibes. One and only strike...and it's huge, everyone was smoking. As a frequent customer I am highly disappointed. The bartender Hilary came and asked us not to smoke in front of the establishment. So we did not . I have a medical marijuana card , I understand not wanting someone to do that outside of the establishment so again we kindly didn't. When we went back in To have another drink she was highly agitated which could be due to her pregnancy I'm not sure and slammed my beverage on the table spilling it all over my purse. When I said something to my friend she had commented about my medicine. So I made her aware of my medical status where she asked me to show her my card. She is not law enforcement or a medical professional. This is protected by HIPAA. I did everything she asked and she still had a problem. I thought her attitude was just sarcasm in the past but I have learned she just genuinely doesn't like half of her customers. read more

I first started coming here about a month ago when I joined a different Co-ed softball team in Boca Raton. Upon arrival it looks like a small local dive bar. It's got a small parking lot in front but there is parking on the side across the street and in the back. The Duck Tavern is a small bar, about 10 tables plus bar seating. It's clean, modern and we'll kept up. It has three dart boards, steel tip, which was a big plus for me being I love playing darts. The place has a jukebox to play music and they also bring in live entertainment in certain days. They also have several tv's and always have many different types of sport games on. From the food dishes I've eaten so far, I've had very tasty food, especially for bar food. I've delightfully enjoyed the eggplant parmesan sandwich, their mozzarella sticks and the purple haze sandwich. The cheese sticks where done perfectly and the purple haze is so good. The purple haze sandwich is off their specials menu and is extremely yummy. It consist of lightly beaded eggplant topped with fresh mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, balsamic vinegarette dressing, greens on foccacia bread. It's a big sandwich! Enough for the hungry person or having half a leftover for the slightly hungry. It's served with duck chips and pickles on the side. The staff is a pleasure to deal with and everyone seems genuine, which seems to be a rarity in Boca Raton. You might have a small wait for your food order even on the show evenings, but so far it's worth the wait. They don't have servers that wait the tables for your order so you'll have to go to the bar to order, but they will bring your food order to you and come pick up your fish when finished. So far I've really enjoyed my experiences at The Duck Tavern and will continue to go back there each week. read more

First off, this bar allows smoking, which will not negatively impact my review. It definitely was smokey inside, so if that's bothersome there are two picnic tables outside to hang out at and a few small tables out front. Good beer selection (got the Oatmeal Stout) and decent limited food menu. The Duck Chips are fantastic. Basically thick cut potato chips. Great for just munching on while hanging out. Bar inside has a few dart boards if you're into that. Parking is limited, but I noticed as the evening went on people were parking on the side of the road & it seemed fine. I love going to the Duck, whether it be just for drinks or for some food. They have a relatively new menu of some awesome sandwiches and dishes, and their wings (35 cents on WEdnesdays!) are fantastic. The bartenders (Loretta, Casey and Tracy) are fantastic and friendly. Yes, it's a smoker's bar, and no I don't smoke, but I'll deal with it. During the cooler months the doors and windows are open and it's a non issue. Sometimes the bands are too loud for my taste (I don't want to have to yell to talk to the person next to me) so I always get there early enough to sit on the other side of the bar. If you haven't been to the Duck for food in a while, give it another go. If you want a beat up dive bar with great drinks and great people, head on over and I'll buy you a beer! read more

Could be the worst dive bar in Florida, and that says a lot. The fries taste like they are made of cardboard. There are people smoking inside. The staff is rude and pretentious. If you are looking for a local spot to piss in while watching a game and drinking crap beer poured by bartenders who couldn't really care less about you or your order, you found your dive bar. If it looks like a dive and acts like a dive is it a dive?- no it's a duck! Trust me The Duck is far from a typical dumpy dive, it's 10 times better although I could do without the smoking. Located on Federal Hwy within walking distance to working class homes on nearby streets the place draws an eclectic array of people and has an old time tavern feel. It's edgy enough to stand out in the usually hoity toity city of Boca Raton and on this Friday night the place was rocking with the scorching blues of the JL Fulks band. From the handshaking obsessed electrician next to me who's wife came storming in because he was "drinking again" to the millionaire real estate developer who likes to get down and dirty on the weekends this crowd runs the gamut. I wont forget the 50 going on 35 shapely blonde from Chicago whom I danced up a storm with nor the stunning pair of 21 year old eastern European models or the guy at the bar who threatened to throw a dart into my eye cause he didn't think I was funny. There is no doubt a bit more substance here and certainly more interesting people than the usual low brow bar. First off it's clean, from the floors and tables to the bathrooms. The only mess here was me being the guy who littered a table with salt and pepper and literally broke a beer bottle by accident with my harmonic cow bell ringing. Yes your honor I'm guilty of having too much fun. Secondly they have 200 different bottles of beer in the fridge in addition to a few taps. I was enjoying Stone Ruination which in my case lived up to it's name.Thirdly the food is really good here. That's the most pleasant surprise. I sampled a quesadilla and fries and on past visits here have loved the wings and burgers. Fourthly they bring in great music on weekends.The place is so laid back and cool it was hard for me to ascertain if people were even aware they were in the presence of greatness. For certain everyone was enjoying themselves I however was in awe of the sounds coming from this guys guitar. Not to turn this into a review of Fulks but he is an incredibly talented blues guitarist who can hold his own with anyone in the country. Only 27 he is a natural talent who has already played and toured with the best in the blues world. The Duck .................... People watching, to the max! The Duck gives way to a much older crowd with an upbeat vibe. Reminded me of Dicey's in down town Ft. Lauderdale, but much, much smaller. The drinks are pretty cheap and there was a live band playing. You're likely to find retired frat boys in their late 30s to early 40s who are still trying to live out their college years. You might also run into your parents or your parents friends here getting shwasted and you may or may not run into your dads single friends hitting on single moms (at least I hope they were single). It is what it is! Very quaint place with a live band. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out as it was a halfway from both of our houses. He had the DUCK Burger which is their signature dish. He said it is one of the best burgers he's ever had. I had the Wings-Garlic. Loved them! They were extremely juicy and full of flavor. Also there's a great selection of beers to choose from, which you would not expect from such a little place. The prices are also very reasonable. Combine that with the Yelp deal and you have a great steal. If not, they post a ton of Daily specials so you will get your money's worth. The band the night we went (cannot remember the name) consisted of one guy playing instruments and singing. He was engaging and so much fun. He sang both old and new songs and he was a pleasure to watch! Will definitely recommend for a low key night on a friendly budget! read more

This bar is good enough that I bought a shirt for half-priced Mondays. It's my "local" bar within walking distance, and I'm happy to have it. They have a nice beer selection and the staff is very friendly, remembered my name on my second visit friendly, so I made it a point to get to know everyone's name at the bar by my third visit. The crowd is an interesting mix of mostly locals, and they have a variety of special events and drink specials through the week to keep things interesting. The "bar food" is not much outside what is to be expected by bar food, though if you get there early they have quite the sandwich selection. I've seen reviews that their wings are good, but I would disagree. If you want wings, go to Hurricane's Grill, Hooters, or Big Joes. I'm a fan of the Duck, but wings are some serious business and I've been consistently disappointed by the wings here. Update 9/2014: After a drunken wing craving a few months back I decided to give them another chance, expecting mediocre wings and they had apparently made some changes and vastly improved their quality. I don't know if it's a new supplier or new preparation but after three times consistently getting well prepared wings, I'll go ahead and say the wings are now slightly above average. read more

Love coming here for a quick work lunch. Cheaper than the Ale House and better food, although obviously a smaller menu. Huge beer selection with good specials. Although the brick walls, darts and smoking might make you think dive bar, the place is incredibly clean and the staff is really great. My single complaint is they allow smoking. Even when no one in the bar is smoking you can still smell it when you walk in, although I do get used to it in a few minutes. There's also a wide-range of 1/2 lb. burgers priced between $6.95 and $8.95 that should satisfy most hamburger cravings. Salads, pizzas, wings, quesadillas and hot dogs also liven up the very reasonably priced menu. I didn't see or hear it during Happy Hour, where most drinks are 2 for 1, but The Duck reportedly cranks out some great live music during the evenings on a regular basis. A YELP check-in will also get you 20% off your bill, although not during Happy Hour or other specials. The Duck attracts a loyal neighborhood crowd that had the small place fairly full at 7pm Wednesday night. Several TV's tuned to sports ring the room. You will find your share of smokers, although the doors were wide open and it wasn't a problem at all this cool night.
