Beef Don and Karaage Yaki Udon
    Christy Q.

My yakiudon was too saucy. The udon was wet and since there was a puddle of sauce, which explained why the kaarage was not crispy-- batter was sauced up. For a stir-fry noodle dish, I expect it to be dry. The kaarage was overly salty. I had to drink a lot of water and I definitely needed that rice from the rice bowl. The beef don on the other hand, was delish. They didn't use the typical thinly sliced beef, they used chunkier beef, like chuck roast or something like that. I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but I did enjoy the meatier dish! This dish is what I am more used to, it was a bowl of comfort. Decor is cute, with lots of duck decor! Service was great.

Ducks is located in the same small plaza as Escape Duck (an escape room business and do not believe they are related to this restaurant). I have been wanting to try Ducks for a few years now but never got a chance to try them until last Friday. Since we were in the area, we decided to make a to go order in person. We came in a few minutes before 7 pm and were greeted by an employee behind the counter (actually right as we were able to come in, a nice employee who was outside in front of the entrance opened the door for us). We told her that we wanted to make a to go order so she gave us menus to look over, in which we ended up getting: Ebi Don, $17.95 prior to tax- I decided to get a rice meal and opted for the shrimp tempura meal. This meal came with 3 long pieces of shrimp tempura, served over a bed of rice that has a lightly sweetened soy sauce drizzled over the rice. I really liked this dish and thought it was delicious. I shared one piece of shrimp and rice with my mom and my husband. They also both really liked the food. Veggie Yaki Udon, $14.50 prior to tax- My husband decided to order this dish because he wanted a noodle dish. Please note that this dish is a dry style noodle dish and not a soup udon dish. I thought this noodle dish was tasty and I liked that there were plenty of vegetables in the dish. The sauce used was tasty. My mom also had some and she liked it and so did my husband. ----------------------------------- (Total= $35.78 after tax) Service was friendly and wait time was not too bad, rather reasonable. I ended up using the restroom while I waited and was surprised to see a cute duck soap dispenser in the bathroom (but being that ducks are everywhere, maybe I should not have been surprised). I did enjoy the food and would consider coming back again to try the other entrees.

People who love this restaurant give them miniature ducks!

Today, my cousin and I tried the tonkatsu here. Of all the Japanese themed restaurants I have traversed, this tonkatsu is a hit. I can only describe this dish in the form of haiku, entitled... "Savory, Sunday". Soft, tender pork melts Teeth on vacation today Dreaming of flavor I've never had such a succulent, delicate tonkatsu. Most places you go to, it is a bit of a workout. Not at Ducks. Leave them a duck!

What a delicious lunch! Friend and I had never been and have been wanting to try this place, so we finally made it to lunch. The place definitely reminds me of smaller mom and pop shops in the South Bay. We had just had curry, so skipped the lunch special combos and went with the cold noodle and rice, with an extra kaarage. We also opted for the upgrade to so a noodles. Food was delicious; nothing fancy, just good cooking and good ingredients. The chicken was hella crispy and juicy, the noodles just the right texture, and my mini katsudon was so yum. Friend had the mini tempura rice bowl and that was also tasty. Can't wait to go back, and bring some of my own duckies for the restaurant.

Glad I finally got around to trying Ducks. The service was great, staff was attentive and turn around was swift. I'll give it a 5 but I think a 4.5 would be the most honest rating Food: The fried fish cake was my least favorite dish, it was underwhelming and the fish cake itself was small, I didn't finish it and I wouldn't order it again 1/5. The soba on the other hand was delicous and flavorful, the serving was generous and filling 5/5. My friend liked the curry and gave it a 4/5. Cute duckie decor and plenty of parking. Definitely worth checking out.

One of my favorite spots in the area for home-style Japanese food. A true San Gabriel Valley staple, Duck's stands apart from the usual ramen and sushi scene, offering a more rustic, comforting take on Japanese cuisine that feels like a mom-and-pop gem. For this combo, definitely choose the cold soba. The noodles have a nutty flavor and satisfying bite that pair beautifully with the light, vinegar-balanced dipping broth. The chicken curry is warm, cozy, and gently spiced -- the perfect contrast to the chilled soba. Thoughtful, balanced, and quietly excellent.

We love this place, all items we've ever tried has great flavor & crispy textures! The curry is so tasty! I got the medium hot & it has a really nice kick to it. The only thing is that I noticed the cutlet doesn't have much flavoring without the curry, but it's tender & great texture

I don't think there's a place I love as much as Ducks. If we're in the area and we're hungry with no specific place in mind, Ducks is our choice. Spicy Miso Spaghetti - I wanted to try something different on their menu, but I don't think one is for me. The flavor is really strong and my husband liked it, but it just wasn't my choice. The taste is very similar to Vietnamese curry. I actually really liked the noodles, they were super chewy. Lunch Special with Curry Rice and Cold Soba - The curry felt so homey while the cold soba felt very refreshing. I was nervous at first because it's so much carbs and not much meat in it, but we actually managed to clean everything. The soba noodles were very light and had a good dipping sauce to add some light flavor.

Ducks has been my go-to place in the SGV to satisfy my katsu curry cravings. This place gives off cozy vibes which makes you feel at home and welcomed. There's ample amount of parking in the plaza it's at as well. Right when I entered, I was immediately greeted and seated. There isn't too much seating inside, but there was surprisingly no wait on a Friday night. I love how flexible they are with their orders since we were able to substitute the meat in their katsudon for chicken instead of pork. Their katsudon is well seasoned, and the rice was cooked perfectly. I got their pork katsu curry (medium spice). The panko on the katsu was very crispy and pork wasn't dry at all. They put the curry on the side which I loved so I can put as much curry on the dish as I wanted. I think next time I'll get a lower spice level since I'm still a little weak when it comes to spice, but overall the food was delicious! I'm always down to come back to experience this amazing comfort food.

    Cold Soba Mini Katsudon
    Hannah B.

I come here looking forward to eating their Katsudon. Their Katsudon here is one of the best I've had in the SGV. It's flavorful, sweet and mildly crispy. I also highly recommend trying their hot udon. The soup in their hot udon is light and full of umami flavor. Their cold soba is also really good! Also, they don't actually serve duck here lol. Overall, great place for Japanese food, and I always return here for their Katsudon. The place is also really cute and silly with rubber ducks decorated throughout their restaurant.

Pork Cutlet Curry Rice (substitute the rice with spaghetti)
    Joey N.

Ducks is known for their curry and spaghetti. So I ordered their curry and spaghetti. I love matcha. The thought curry and spaghetti sounded strange at first, but I realized it's no different than a curry udon bowl. To my surprised, I enjoyed the dish far more than what I had anticipated. Anyways, Ducks has amazing service and the ambiance sells the experience very well. The inside of the restaurant features different rubber ducks, hence the name, and a diner-like feel. If you are looking for authentic Japanese curry and cold soba noodles I would recommend coming to Ducks. I love matcha.

Was craving Japanese udon and found this place on Yelp. This place did not disappoint!! The service was very kind and there was no wait to get inside. Coming into the restaurant, there are a bunch of duck themed items inside and it felt very cozy. I loved the food and can't wait to come back!!

Pork Cutlet Curry Rice (curry on the side) and Gyoza (only one in the picture b/c we ate the rest)
    Alma H.

The restaurant isn't very big, so we did have to wait a bit to get seated, but the wait wasn't too long. It was a warm day when we visited, and the AC didn't seem to be working very well near the entrance, but once we were seated it felt noticeably cooler and much more comfortable. This was my first time trying this place, but my husband used to come here often back in his high school days (over 25 years ago), so he was excited to revisit it. We ordered the pork cutlet with curry on the side, and it was incredibly crispy and paired perfectly with the rich, flavorful curry. I had the hot soba with shrimp and vegetable tempura, and everything was excellent--the tempura was light, crispy, and not oily, and the soba noodles had great texture with a delicious broth. We also shared the gyoza, which seemed to be lightly battered with the same tempura coating. It was unique and surprisingly delicious. You can tell this restaurant has been around for a long time. It's simple, no-frills, and feels like you're being invited into a friend's home for a great home-cooked meal. If you're looking for comforting, delicious Japanese food, I hope you'll give this place a try!

When she was mostly done making it, another man came in the front door, put his dinner from another fast food place on the counter and started helping her. Like many new places, order is by kiosk only and they do not take cash. Highly recommend you skip the in-store wait and just order ahead on your favorite services that they take and allow 20-30 min to get there so you do not end up waiting in-store. The food quality was mixed. The spicy curry was too hot for us even though the flavor was good. The amount of meat and egg and overall food is not that big and you are mostly filling up on rice. That is not worth the post-Covid and inflation prices they are charging. The food tastes ok, but is not as good as comparable places or sit-down Japanese restaurants. The mild curry was not too hot and had good flavor. The potato salad texture is different, but tastes ok. We did not know one comes with each dish and so we accidentally ordered an extra. For maybe $5.99 or $6.99 it was totally not worth it. Even though we ate different dishes and did not share we both got mild food poisoning from here. We got: potato salad, chicken katsu curry, unagi bowl, and omurice bowl and a mango flurry. You definitely need massive lactade if you are lactose intolerant to drink their flurries and other yogurt drinks. Only really worth a try if you order ahead, really want take out and are in the area, and order two dishes and don't eat all the rice if you are pretty hungry and expect to pay a lot for it.

We left completely satisfied and felt the quality was well worth the price. The service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and efficient without making us feel rushed. Finding a restaurant that excels in both food and service can be rare, but Kagura delivered on both. If you're a tonkatsu fan, this is a place you shouldn't miss. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Los Angeles!

We were a party of two and were given a choice of a table for two or a more comfy booth. Since my guest was my mom, comfy booth. She had the Don (bento) with fried pork wet on top of rice, with eggy soy sauce. ..I sampled it ... It was great 5/5. I had the chicken was crispy 5/5 not gready...chicken was tender yet crunchy panko breaking... with curry.. the curry had a slight bitter note but it was fine, and thick, it was a bit goopy on the pour... and had a thin skinlike layer which was odd but it ate fine 4/5 There's a free appetizer...choice of fried oyster or fried crab cream like a large round rangoon...I can't eat seafood, bit mom enjoyed it. She gave it 5/5. We both loved the salad, the pickled carrots and two cubesof sweet potato., and the pickled Persian cucumbers. Small tiny discreet portions of each but elegantly and a great palette cleanser...the salad dressing was tart and light. 5/5 The utensils are pre-set on the table and so is the sweet tonkatsu sauce in a small carafe also preset....there's not much interaction with the bust wait staff, but it was easy to catch their eye to ask questions, get the check, or clear the dishes...I had hot cup of green tea. But no checking for more. But I'm sure icould have flagged down a waiter had I really wanted more. They deliver the food and fly off, so don't ne afraid to stop them to make your requests...they are nice about it. You can also get a pitcher of Sapporo if you drink beer and are a larger parry which I thought was nice considering Sappora usual comes by the bottle. Parking is plentiful in the back...and free. We enjoyed. Very much. Just know 1) no desserts on menu. 2) yes there's a kids menu and 3) every protein is deep fried.

Maid Nagi was on duty and she was both very professional and very polite. I ordered the Maid Lele Combo, the fish and chips were very good. The fried fish felt juicy kn the inside and crunchy on the outside. The chips/fries were good, right amount of soft and crunch. The Arnold Palmer Lemonade was a first time ever and it was nice and refreshing. But if you're a fan of sweets. The star of the show is the cheesecake. It has to be one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had. Since the combo was a Maid Special, Maid Nagi turned me into a cat (it was really fun and cute) and we cast a blessing to the food as well. You also get a cheki with the maid on duty, this time being Maid Nagi of course. Overall the atmosphere of the café was peaceful and fun. I went at a time where it wasn't too busy which is perfect for someone like me. If you're a fan of maid cafés or wanna try one for the first time, I do recommend checking it out. Thanks again Maid Nagi for a wonderful experience

We were served by a wonderful Caucasian maid, and we also noticed a cute Korean maid taking care of some other tables--the whole staff was super friendly and really added to the charming, positive vibe of the cafe. One thing that really stood out to me was their retail section. They have a surprisingly solid selection of Japanese trading card games like Weiss Schwarz, Hololive, and Pokémon, alongside some manga. It's an awesome touch if you're a fan of the hobby or just want something interesting to browse while waiting for your order. As for the food, I had to try the classic maid cafe staple: the omurice. I ordered the curry omurice, complete with the signature cute ketchup art drawn right on the egg. It was hearty, flavorful, and definitely hit the spot. We also tried a couple of their specialty iced espresso drinks, including the tiramisu latte. They were topped generously with whipped cream and tasty crumbles. The drinks are definitely on the richer, sweeter side, making them feel like a dessert in themselves. If you're into Japanese gaming and anime culture, or just looking for a cafe experience that's a bit out of the ordinary with fantastic service and indulgent drinks, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

I always order the Original King with extra firm noodles. I also love that they give you a customization sheet so you can personalize your ramen exactly how you like it. The restaurant is in a large mall and while there were lots of parking stalls it was quite busy and challenging to find a spot. When we got in there was a line already and so we entered the queue. All parties need to be present before they seat you. When finally it was out turn we were seated and the inside was nicely decorated. I liked the condiments and sprouts in the middle of the table. I used the sesame grinder a lot! Most of the table ordered the Original King Reamen but I had the Red King and wanted to try the Chicken Karaage. The chicken was so good! Probably one of the best I've ever had. The ramen was super flavourful and the noodles were cooked perfectly QQ. This place was bustling but felt that the service was good. Love the decor. They even give you a branded bib in case of soup splashing. Food is a bit expensive than other Ramen places but I probably would be back.
