When we arrived, there was no one at the front and we stood there for about 10 minutes until we were acknowledged by someone which was a little strange. Once we checked in and got seated, things went well. Ordering the meat was very easy and fast. They have a self service bar where you can get all your sauces, veggies, noodles, and sides. They also give you ice cream for dessert. We had the Wagyu experience and tried meat from both menus, obviously the Wagyu cuts were better but we enjoyed everything. I really like their sukiyaki broth, some places don't make it sweet enough. Their alcohol is also reasonably priced, we were able to get a bottle of sake and a mega beer mug for $26. It was lunch time so the price were a lil cheaper which was great for how good the quality of meat is. We got sukiyaki and tonkatsu for our broth. Very good flavors! For our meat selection we really enjoyed beef chuck eye, beef eye round, korobuta pork shoulder and pork belly. We hadn't been here for a while so decided to try it out again with their Star Student promotion (which is a really nice offer!). We hadn't come back because our first visit felt very rushed and they didnt have ice & other items that day. This visit luckily was better with items being replenished pretty quickly or on request. Broths: We liked the Tonkatasu and Sukiyaki. I tried the the house, but it didn't have much flavor and I had to add some chili to it for more flavors. I drank more of the tonkatsu broth as a soup since it was so good. A little disappointed they dont offer a spicier soup base for spicy lovers. Meats: We liked the Short plate and chuck eye the best but all of them were good to eat. No issues on our meat orders, you just have the 5 or 6 options for regular menu. Our server was attentive and checked in for refilling our meats pretty timely. We were given last call about 30 minutes before time was supposed to be up. For the price, we felt there are many other places that offer more in the self service area with seafood options and other foods or drinks included. If you're just there for basic hot pot, then this will satisfy you if you don't care for those other items and it would be a 4*. I've been to Mo-Mo Paradise a handful of times, and it's always been pretty good. This time, we came with a reservation for 11 people and were seated once everyone in our party arrived. The meat selection is fairly small, with only about five different types of beef and pork to choose from. The vegetables and sauce bar are all self-serve, so you'll need to head up and grab everything yourself. The biggest highlight is definitely the quality of the meat. Compared to a lot of other AYCE hot pot places, the meat here is noticeably better. It's well-marbled, tender, and delicious. The vegetables and other sides were fresh and good as well. I'd say the sauce bar is decent, I've been to plenty of other AYCE spots with a much larger selection, but this one gets the job done. Overall, the food is good, and I usually come here for special occasions. It's a little more expensive than other AYCE hot pot restaurants, but I think the higher-quality meat makes it worth the extra cost. I've been wanting to check out Momo for quite some time now, I keep reading good reviews on SGV Eats. I came across their 'Star Student' promo on Instagram and thought why not?! Both my teens are straight A students and they love shabu! We invited another family with us, who also has a star student of their own. I also love that they take online reservations, it's very convenient. We were a party of 8, 5 adults and 3 teens. We sat at two tables of 4, right next to each other. I love their large portions of meat slices, it's so rare for AYCE. I wish they had a large selection of veggies, sides and sauces. Their unlimited drinks for $3.55 was a good value too. The all you can drink jasmine milk tea with yuzu strawberry lemonade and oolong tea anddd boba/coffee jelly was so worth it!!! First time eating at Mo Mo's. We reserved our table in advance in case there's a wait. On a Wednesday at 6:30pm, they weren't very busy which was good. Our server was pretty attentive and brought the meats out fast. Please note their tip starts at 18%. Ambiance was pretty good, with low chatters and spacious seats. Restroom was clean too. The veggie bar was adequate but did run out of items at times with no refills. They charge for drinks now except hot water, hot tea, and iced water (that comes from the soda fountain). Their meat quality is pretty good, specifically the eye of round and chuck eye. However, after a few rounds, the quality of the eye of round dropped significantly and turned tough to chew. The self service station was organized and clean, with the curry option at self serve also being very flavorful. Ice cream at the end was a nice touch. Refillable drinks (soda, tea, lemonade) for only $2 extra. Ponzu sauce had to be served to us instead of being available at sauce station, which was small and only had sesame sauce with spice options. Today (Sunday, August 16), me and my boyfriend went to this restaurant as usual. I come here regularly, and this is actually one of my favorite shabu restaurants. I've been here many times, and up until today, I've always been happy with both the food and the service. But today was very different from my previous experiences. We had been eating for about 50 minutes. We had already put a full pot of meat in and were waiting for it to cook when an Asian female server came over and told us it was the last call for meat, even though we still had a full pot of meat on the table (as shown in the photo I posted). I would understand if we had finished all the meat on the table and weren't ordering anything else, or if we had already been sitting there for a long time. But at that point, we had only been there for about 50 minutes, and more importantly, we still had a full pot of meat that we were actively eating. Yet we were already being told it was the last call. We told the server that we were okay and didn't want to order anything else. We continued eating for a little while, and while we were still eating the meat that was already in the pot, less than 10 minutes later, the same server came over and asked if we wanted to order ice cream now or if we wanted her to come back later. My boyfriend and I were very confused because we were literally still eating. We had food in our mouths and were still chewing. It's not like we had put our utensils down, stopped eating, and were ready for dessert. If that had been the case, I would have completely understood the server asking about dessert. A little while later, when we had started slowing down and were nearly finished eating, the same server came over again and said it was the last call for ice cream, meaning that if we didn't order it at that moment, we wouldn't be able to have it. By that point, we didn't even feel like continuing to enjoy our meal anymore because we felt so rushed and pressured, so we decided not to get the ice cream. Overall, I feel like this was the worst experience I've ever had at this restaurant. To be completely honest, I also work at an AYCE restaurant myself, so I fully understand time limits. I have no problem with a time limit, and I would never intentionally stay longer than necessary, especially when the restaurant is busy. But in this situation, we were genuinely still eating, and we still had a full pot of meat. When the server told us it was the last call, we had only been there for about 50 minutes. It made me feel like we were being pressured to hurry up, finish our food, and leave. What bothered me the most was that the server came to ask about ice cream twice while we were still eating, and the first time, we still had a full pot of meat in front of us. It made us feel like we couldn't comfortably enjoy our meal. We were seated at around 6:10 PM and finished eating and paid around 7:15-7:20 PM, so we were only there for about an hour. I'm not sure if we stayed too long and that was the reason the server felt the need to rush us that much. But based on this experience, I was extremely disappointed with the service. Our kiddo is a shabu shabu aficionado and loves them all but this place by far has become her favorite and I must say mine as well. What stands out to us is the elevated level of cleanliness, detail, product, utensils, food quality... the list goes on. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming despite the huge crowd that had arrived before us for lunch. The server was equally as smiley and helpful and explained how it all worked. This is my second time here. Quite disappointed. Food: Everything tasted fine. The meats were thicker cuts. The vegetable bar looked very unsanitary. Everything was easily mixed together. Mushrooms were in the cabbage bin, kale were found in the tofu bins etc. The curry + rice tasted good. The soups were okay, but they were definitely lacking flavor. While eating the meats, I found a piece of plastic buried within the cuts. It was pretty disturbing on top of everything else. Drinks: The sodas tasted fine. I tried the Tokyo melon and cola. They were sweet and refreshing. Service: Our server was kind, but it seems like they're pretty understaffed. She was extremely busy, and we would have a hard time flagging her. She was speed walking back and forth most of the time. Parking: There's a free parking lot in the back of the plaza. Lots of space. Overall: Make sure you have a reservation. Mo Mo Paradise has always been my favorite AYCE hotpot place in Southern California. I've been to a few different locations throughout Socal, yet surprisingly this was my first time at the Arcadia location. I was lucky enough to snag a same-day reservation at dinner time for a party of five. It gets busy so I always recommend getting a reservation online. Parking is easy. There is a parking structure behind the restaurant. There aren't any big signs pointing to it so keep an eye out for a side street opening into a small parking garage. As always, the soups are very flavorful and the meats are always tender and delicious. They allow you to select two soups per pot and I always get a sukiyaki. I love that it comes with poached raw eggs too. I always get the beefs and they always hit so good. My favorite is the wagyu beef curry. It is soooo good and I always get multiple plates of it. Now, the reason why I gave this place 3/5 stars today is unfortunately due to the service. I usually have such a great time at the other Mo Mo Paradise locations I have been to, but unfortunately I felt extremely rushed during this visit. For the majority of our visit, we had a great time. But when we ordered our third round of meats, we found out that we had missed our "Last Call" time and only had 10 minutes left to sit. Our server had unfortunately forgotten to tell us when our "Last Call" was and did not ask us if we wanted to order anything else. This was so disappointing, since I felt like we had barely ordered any meats at this point. Feels bad, especially considering we spent $250+ for this meal. They did give us ice cream, but during these last 10 minutes, the server kept coming to our table saying - "you only have 7 minutes left... you only have 4 minutes left... etc." I was rushing to eat my ice cream so fast. At one point, the server started clearing our plates and our pots while we were finishing our meal. I remember eating a carrot and the server almost pulled the plate from me as I took a bite :( She said she would come back in a minute... The server seemed to be guilt tripping us a little bit too :// She kept telling us that the next party was waiting for our specific table, but I found that to be weird because the empty table behind us could seat six but they weren't in any rush to finish cleaning that other table for some reason. My friends and I usually come out of Mo Mo Paradise so full and happy, but we just had a sour taste left in our mouth because of they rushing us. We also were unable to eat to our hearts' content :( It was weird, when I left the restaurant there really only seemed to be about five people waiting too... Just not sure what was going on that day but it was Memorial Day weekend... maybe they were understaffed or something... This was a really disappointing experience because of this. Came here with parents since we haven't ate hotpot in a while and didn't know what to eat. We came on a weekday for dinner so it wasn't crowded. However, I still made a reservation online since I saw a few reviews mentioned reserving ahead of time to mininize wait time. Luckily, it wasn't full when we arrived so the reservation wasn't actually needed but it did get more full later in the night so a reservation would be helpful if you plan to eat later at night during the peak times and especially during the weekends. Anyhow, we were seated quickly and got a table with two stoves and we could use both for four people. I got the Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki broths while my parents got the Shabu Shabu and Tomato. And we got the Momo experience since it has a good assortment of meats. Our server was friendly in explaining the menu and had pretty fast service. Once we ordered the meat, they were served quickly too which was nice so you didn't have to wait long in between. The meat quality was pretty good but we noticed that the quality for the Chuck Eye got worse towards the end of our meal even though it started off really good. Not sure if that was on purpose or just a bad batch of beef but it was disappointing since it wasn't as tender and was tough to chew so I couldn't eat some of it. The broths were also pretty good. The Sukiyaki is a bit salty if you let the veggies and meat sit inside for too long so warning about that, but it was flavorful enough to not dip in sauces. I liked the Shabu Shabu more since it is more clear and not strong. Also, they have a drink section for unlimited drinks if you pay extra which I didn't opt for but they do let you order free hot tea or hot water unless you want cold water then it is at the soda fountain. Sad that they now charge for drinks. They also have a self-serve veggie bar which has decent amount of veggies and other hotpot ingredients but it is a smaller variety compared to some other all you can eat hotpots I have been to. They also have free ice cream at the end of the meal which is just 1 scoop of the flavors they have available. Nothing special. Overall, this is decent hotpot choice if you like Japanese style hotpot. The meat quality is okay but doesn't seem consistent on each platter. Also not many veggies to choose from. I love the choice of choosing between different broths. My side of the table ordered sukiyaki & tonkotsu broth. Sukiyaki is a sweeter, savory broth while tonkotsu is a creamy pork bone broth. I do prefer the tonkotsu because it match my taste buds more, but the sweeter broth was a great change and they give you broth water on the side if flavor is too strong or your soup evaporates. It's become a tradition to celebrate New Year's Eve dinner at Mo Mo Paradise with my in-laws, and this year was our first time visiting the Arcadia location. We had a 6:30pm reservation and were seated shortly after arriving, which was much appreciated on a busy NYE evening. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean, with ample free parking in the parking structure (huge plus!). Mel was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and somehow managing five tables at once without missing a beat. She cleared our table promptly and stayed on top of taking and checking in on our order the entire time. You could tell she really cared about providing great service, even during a rush. Weekend dinner is $38.99/pp. You can also add the non-alcoholic drink bar for $3.55 per person, featuring sodas, teas, juices, boba, adzuki beans, and coffee jelly. They even have fresh kale! Adrianna is the BEST server - she took the time to explain the menu, was so pleasant, and always had a smile on her face regardless of how busy she was. The restaurant has a 90 minute policy and they start the clock once they seat you. It's all you can eat but drinks are extra. There's no fish or seafood option. Only beef and pork. I'm not a big fan of the ponzu sauce nor sesame dipping sauces and you have to ask for soy sauce but the dipping sauce profiles are definitely more Japanese than Chinese if you're familiar with the nuances. The restaurant has a smaller footprint compared to other typical shabu shabu places. The dining area was spotless and well-organized, creating a relaxed environment that made settling in easy. The staff were friendly and accommodating, checking in just enough to be attentive without feeling intrusive. Our party of four sampled three different broths, tonkotsu, shabu shabu, and sukiyaki. While the broths were overall average, the sukiyaki was a slight letdown; despite its rich, dark color from the mirin, it was surprisingly mild in flavor. That said, the true stars of the meal were the fresh ingredients and the meat. Ordering meat was quick and seamless, with no delays, and the selection and quality were well above average for an all-you-can-eat restaurant at this price point. In additional to typical veggies, fish balls, tofu items, they have both udon and ramen noodle. They also have a nice pot of Japanese curry to go with the short grain rice. My teenager was especially delighted by the self-serve drink station and happily went back for seconds on the matcha latte. After spending time simmering meats and vegetables in hot broth, the ice cream at the end of the meal was a refreshing finishing touch. The 90-minute dining window felt more than adequate to truly worth the price tag. We never felt rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy multiple rounds of food. Highly recommend that you make reservations because it does get busy. Very family-friendly service. The meats were so good. My favorite was the pork shoulder. This place won't tempt you with sauce bar or fried/snack bar and other things because you totally will be happy just staying put on your table: the meat, ponzu, goma, and broth is enough to keep you happy. Make sure you order ahead, because it seems they are a bit underhanded. Order at least 1.5x more than you think, so you don't have to wait for the next order. Place is comfortable and nicely crowded without getting too noisy. They also have the best selection of drinks (though it will cost you an extra $3.5). Great AYCE shabu spot! The meat quality was good and nicely presented in little trays. The server came by a few times to check on us and made sure we're good with our meat order. The dining time is limited to 90 minutes once you're seated. I loved the Chuck eye beef and probably ate 5 trays by myself! Lol definitely got my money's worth! I also love that there's a self service cold bar with all the different vegetables, meatballs, mushrooms, and noodles. There was an udon salad appetizer, curry and rice that were delicious. The sauce bar included their house made soy/ponzu, sesame sauce and chili sauce. Overall a great dining experience! The restaurant is clean and well organized. Rating: 3.5 Stars, but a 4 is fine, because of the meat quality and the curry with wagyu. Background On Visit: Celebrated my friend's birthday the other night. Visitation Rights: 1 time. Location/Parking: Located on the SW corner of Duarte Rd. and 1st Ave.. Located next to 85C Bakery. Parking can be found along Duarte Rd. or in the shared parking structure in the back. Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with modern furnishings. Ventilation can be better. Service: For the most part, service was alright. the staffers tried their best to get our soup topped off and plates cleared. Shabu Rules 1) 90 minute Experience Of Choice: Our group decided on the Mo-Mo Experience, which included 5 meat choices (Chuck Eye, Short Plate, Eye Of Round, Kurobota Pork Shoulder, and Pork Belly (dinner/weekend) to choose from. We decided on the chucke eye, short plate, and the kurobota pork should which was quite good. As for the soup based, they offered Shabu - Shabu, Sukiyaki, Tonkatsu, and tomato. You can split the pot and choose 2 types of soup. We decided on the shabu shabu (kombu and bonito) and sukiyaki. Thought it was flavorful. I liked it more than the sweet and savory taste profile of the sukiyaki. Farmer's Market: Had some of the usual suspects that I normally have at other shabu places. I loaded up on the cabbage and pumpkin. The kale was a surprise, because I never seen it being offered as part of their veggie selections. I consumed a good amount of that also. The curry with wagyu beef was amazing. I probably had 4 or 5 helps of that. :) As for the sauces, I didn't really try any of them. Just looked a little depressing. Mo Mo Paradise: Thought the meat quality was good, but wished they had more of a seafood section besides the fish balls, and a dessert section. They did offer ice cream though. They had black cherry, vanilla, and chocolate chip. They would hand scoop it and bring it to your table. You can ask as much as your stomach can take. read more

Food was good and the price was okay for what was offered. The service was okay as well. I would think of more seafood options but I think the main focus is the meats they offer and self serve bar which is nice. I do wish that the price was lower though. The ambiance is nice and clean. read more
