I stopped coming for a while, but only because I was getting free maintenance with Dorschel during my lease. I finally returned today. To my great disappointment, the staff suggested lots of unnecessary work which would have made my visit significantly more expensive. I reviewed the invoice with the receptionist line-by-line, crossing out things which he himself admitted were not essential: duct cleaning, a tire warranty, an expensive alignment plan which would have allowed me to get more alignments in the future, and more. I'm not an economist, but I know that these plans and warranties are unlikely to save me money in the long run. If they were, Goodyear wouldn't be selling them. If peace if mind is what you're after, sure. But that's a different story. When all was said and done, I had saved about $500 by removing these unsolicited extras. That's not a small chunk of change. I left disappointed, wondering how else they screwed me over. After reviewing the invoice with another person, it became clear that I also overpaid for alignment and the cabin filter. They charged me $95 for alignment and $50 for the cabin filter, including $10 of cabin filter labor. I have to give the receptionist credit for not fighting me on these adjustments. He even admitted that some of the work was non-essential. I can even understand that businesses are struggling right now, but that's no excuse to screw customers. Customers are struggling, too. It's disappointing to know that I would have spent an extra $500 for little to no benefit benefit had I not read the invoice carefully. I'm sorry to say that I don't think I'll be back. All of that being said, the work they do is very good, as far as I can tell, the staff is knowledgeable and professional, and the waiting room is clean, with free water and decent WiFi. They didn't poke me in the eye. My car didn't explode. So 2 stars it is.

Dishonest, Incompetent, and Costly Rip-Off…read more I took my car to this shop for service and regret it every single day. They are a textbook example of shady sales tactics combined with very poor mechanical work. They billed me for 5 hours of labor on a job that took only 3 hours. They completely failed to perform the wheel alignment properly after performing maintenance that required an alignment, yet they charged me for an alignment. Another mechanic later confirmed the front was way off and they hadn't touched the rear! When I asked them to correct it (since they had promised a follow-up realignment with the initial service), they made up an excuse that the alignment needed time to "settle" and refused to fix it. One month later, the toe on my front wheels was so far off that it completely destroyed my tires! I had to spend $1,300 on a new set of tires plus a proper alignment at a competent shop (I should have gone to in the first place) To top it off, they charged a 500% markup on parts -- five times what they should cost. This place overcharges, underperforms, and leaves customers with expensive damage. Avoid them at all costs. They wasted my time, my money, and damaged my vehicle. Never again.

Unlike other garages, there were no fear tactics used to try to tell me I need new tires, or brakes, or whatever. Every interaction that I've had with them so far - phone and in person - has been professional and respectful. While waiting for my car, I listened to the interactions with other customers. I have honestly never heard auto service people speak as kindly and thoughtfully to customers. Also like other independent garages, there is an actual waiting area, with multiple tables, chairs, a window that allows you to look into the garage, a maintained bathroom, and a selection of Keurig coffees. Disregard the couple of bad reviews that have been submitted. Customers can be jerks and there are some people that are never satisfied. It seems that Schoen Auto's genuine philosophy is to do what is necessary to make things right with those rare unsatisfied customers. I hope this garage is around for a long, long time and remains under the same ownership.

Not long ago I had a very upsetting experience with Cortese Auto Group. It was regarding repair…read morework done and wasn't corrected properly. It got to the point I had to turn to the Attorney General for help. They reviewed my notes and determined it was a valid claim. They forwarded my notes to the DMV Albany main office. They too agreed my claim was valid but needed an outside opinion. So I went Camelot Auto Repairs in E. Rochester. I met and spoke with Doug the owner. Doug listened to my problem, went out with me and looked my car over. He detected a problem and prepared his professional opinion for the DMV. I sent his written opinion to the DMV office and they accepted it. The DMV in turn assigned a regional inspector who did get my problem straightened out. I was very pleased with Doug and his help for me. It was a very stressful thing dealing with this. 5 stars for Camelot Auto Repairs. On a final note, the time I spent with Doug, I must say his shop is very well organized and it appears he has good technicians working for him
