I purchased the very first Kia minivan Dulles Motorcars sold in August 2001. For more than 25 years, I have purchased and serviced my vehicles with this dealership, which makes writing this review incredibly disappointing. One service appointment did not destroy my trust. The dealership's response after acknowledging its own communication error did. I scheduled my July 15, 2026 appointment for an oil change only. When I made the appointment with Rochelle Sabino, I specifically declined the recommended 70,000-mile service because my Sorento had only about 67,000 miles. I also explained that I had already replaced the cabin air filter after a recent mouse incident and had recently rotated my tires. When I checked in that morning, Rochelle again confirmed I was there for an oil change only and asked for the best phone number to reach me. I provided my cell phone number. The problems began before my vehicle was even checked in. The service department had been moved to a different location without notice, and after arriving at the new building, I wasn't checked in until about twenty minutes after my scheduled appointment. When I returned that afternoon, Rochelle handed me an invoice for $1,360.63. I was stunned. I had requested an oil change with an estimated cost of $93.57. I had already declined the additional maintenance twice--once when scheduling the appointment and again during check-in--so I did not understand why those services were being presented for authorization at all. When I questioned the charges, Rochelle acknowledged that the service recommendations had been sent to the wrong phone number. Instead of contacting me--the customer who scheduled and checked in the vehicle after providing my correct phone number--the dealership communicated with my husband instead. Rather than addressing that communication error, I was repeatedly told that my husband had approved the work. Acting manager Elnaz Ahadi even stated several times that he would "feel more comfortable talking to my husband." That completely missed the point. I am the sole owner of the vehicle. The dealership acknowledged contacting the wrong person, yet continued to rely on that mistake to justify more than $1,200 in additional work. To make matters worse, I was charged $68 for a cabin air filter that I had specifically told Rochelle had already been replaced. The dealership reduced my bill by $200, but that never addressed the real issue. My concern has never been the amount charged--it is that additional work was authorized after the dealership contacted the wrong person despite having my correct contact information. Instead of immediately posting a negative review, I emailed General Manager Sam Hamdan to give Dulles Motorcars the opportunity to investigate and make things right. He promptly apologized and assured me he would speak with those involved and get back to me "first thing." He never did. After waiting a week, I sent a polite follow-up requesting an update. I never received a response. That silence ultimately told me everything I needed to know. Mistakes happen in every business. What defines a company is how it responds. Dulles Motorcars acknowledged contacting the wrong person, continued to rely on that mistake to justify unauthorized work, and then failed to honor management's promise to investigate and follow up. After more than 25 years as a loyal customer, I have made the difficult decision that I will never purchase another vehicle from Dulles Motorcars or return there for service. I never expected that a dealership I trusted for a quarter century would lose my business over a single oil change, but if this is how a customer of twenty-five years is treated when the dealership makes a mistake, I can no longer recommend Dulles Motorcars to anyone considering purchasing or servicing a vehicle there. read more

A few weeks ago I bought a brand new Subaru Crosstreck through the Dulles Motorcars Kia and Subaru dealership. My experience was nothing short of wonderful. My sales rep, Ishwa was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and truly had my best interest at heart. The manager, Carlos was just as helpful in the entire process and even offered me a much better trade in value for my Fiat 500 than I thought I would be able to get. To complete the process, Gregory was handling my financing. I am brand new to building credit and he made it possible for me to get financing right then and there. He didn't stop until it was all sorted out. If it wasn't for all 3 of them working seamlessly hand in hand, I don't think this process would have been that smooth. Thank you, thank you, thank you! On October 21st, 2025 I was lied to by service tech Scott regarding a warrantied repair. He told me over the phone that the Transmission oil pump was a covered part under the 10 year powertrain warranty, so we brought the car there for the repair. upon picking up the car 3 days later, Scott tells me it isn't covered under any warranty, and he says he didn't tell me it was. and wants me to pay $1145 for the repair. I declined, I asked Scott to get the General Manager, he ignored me. I've left messages for the GM and no call back or contact since. I have the warranty book which clearly shows this is a warranty repair. Be careful with the service department, they will lie to you to get work, I assume they are working on an incentive plan to make more money if they get more service repairs. Recently, I had some very serious and expensive repairs to my 2008 Ram; however, the "pain" of writing a check was offset by the "positive attitude" of the employees. I bought my first car from this dealership and felt completely misled about the vehicle I was purchasing. I've had the car for just over a year, and despite somehow passing inspection, it burns an excessive amount of oil--about 2 quarts every 2,000 miles. This critical issue was not told in the time of purchase even though I expressed my enthusiasm in other vehicles and how hard I worked as a young professional to make this purchase. After consulting multiple mechanics, I've learned that a car with only 79,000 miles should not be experiencing this kind of oil consumption, and it's likely to lead to more significant issues. I trusted my salesperson and am deeply disappointed with the lack of transparency. I strongly advise anyone considering buying a vehicle from this dealership to proceed with extreme caution. Dulles Kia Review I was insulted by this dealership. You decide if you want to end up in my spot after reading through this incident. I booked an appointment to test drive a Kia EV6 with Dulles Kia Dealership in Leesburg, VA. The Sales rep who called me back to confirm the appointment (I know his name, just not putting it here for the sake of not picking names). He sounded cold on the phone itself. He asked me to mention the other cars that I had been looking at or have test driven. He had no business to ask that to begin with. I said I have test driven only a Tesla Model Y and would like to test drive a EV6 for me able to decide which one suits my needs better. The moment he heard that he lost complete interest (I don't know why, isn't it normal for people to test drive as many cars as they could before they make an informed choice?). Quite Indifferently, he decided to have me in for the test drive the next day at 11:30 AM. Fast forward to 11:30 next day, I show up at the dealership along with my wife, eager to test drive the EV6. The guy checks us in in a cold manner. The first thing he says right on our face (with a crooked smile on his face): I quote: "Sorry guys, I will have someone else take care of you today as I have prioritized another appointment right after talking to you yesterday." Our jaws drop. How can someone say that to a customer. Does our time mean nothing to him? We try to smile it off and get back to talking as if nothing happened. And then suddenly he starts popping some weird questions such as 1. So, you test drove a Tesla Model Y, what are your thoughts about it ? My Answer: we test drove it a few months back. we thought it's a decent car, but we wanted to try the EV6 which is our other option that we are considering. 2. Why are you considering buying an EV now? My Answer: I am having a 5-day commute of 30 miles back and forth. I thought of saving some bucks on gas. Besides EVs are considered to be more environmentally friendly. [He interrupts with a smirk on his face, - "30 miles, that's it? "] 3. After the test drive, will you buy EV6 today? My Answer: Well, we are here to test drive the car. We would only consider buying it after we both like the car and after giving it some thought. And we certainly need some time to do so. So, most likely we won't buy the car today. [He did not have any enthusiasm in talking to us. He lost furthermore after listening to my above answer] 4. Do You know the price of the car that you are planning on buying? Have you done some research around any of these? [I am slowly beginning to lose it at this point. Why would I come to test drive a car without researching it and this question is thrown at us after being crystal clear about our intentions. I try to keep calm, and my wife clutches my hand underneath the table as she is beginning to feel the tension rising in me.] My Answer: I have some idea about the price, but I would like to learn more about it from you. He then searches something on the computer without an iota of enthusiasm and pops some numbers to us and he said that leasing would be more beneficial as there is a deal happening on the car now. We said we haven't considered leasing the car as we got confused with the price points that he threw at us. I think it was intentionally done so. After the above interview, he starts pacing all over the store floor as though searching for something. We patiently await the moment he comes to us with the keys and walks us out to get the car. And guess what happens next. THE OPPOSITE. He comes to us and says he says he just has one car to send us in and he can't find the key to the vehicle. We seal it now. We are like - we know this game. This was a premeditated drama. He has no intention of letting us drive that car. We still wait there 10 more minutes seeing him play the act of frantically searching and not finding the key. I told my wife that we will get out of this shady place. Nothing seems right about this place. We waited there for 2 more mins and walked out and as we did; we saw another Kia EV6 being driven out from the dealership for a test drive making his lies fall apart right in front of our eyes. Then it all becomes apparent to us: They never had any intention of letting us drive that car. They had written us off right when we hung up the previous day. I don't know the reasons for their behavior. Maybe they sensed we are not a guaranteed buyer, or they assumed (very wrongly) we are not financially affluent or whatever the heck it is. The whole EV market is so ardently trying to get customer attention, here is a dealership that just delivers it safely into their competitor's hands. I have decided not to go even in any proximity to this place for any reasons whatsoever. Come here for the best car-buying experience! I purchased a new car there last night and am beyond satisfied with the service and attention to detail given by my salesman, Carlos Ortiz. I have purchased 7 brand new cars in the past 8 years and this experience was the BEST by far. He made what can sometimes be an unnerving process quite enjoyable. The finance manager, Mr. Yoo, was also extremely personable and a joy to work with. The two of them made my day! I do not recommend this dealership. I'm a 20 year Navy JAG so I've dealt with some shady car dealers, but they are one of the worst! They advertised an EV6 for $54000 on their website (I have a screenshot and it didn't say it was MSRP, just the price). I submitted the form and got a call from Gary. We discussed the car I liked and he did not quote any other price but recommended I come in to test drive. He was not available so someone named Roger (who didn't know anything about the car), let me test drive it with my kids. Showed it to my wife and we liked it. He looks at our current Kia for a trade. He comes back and offers the same price for my trade as I got from Carvana but marked up the EV6 from their advertised price by 20%!!! An extra $8,000. I told them that was insulting, and likely illegal. This was classic bait and switch. The Virginia Consumer Protection Act prohibits " 8. Advertising goods or services with intent not to sell them as advertised, or with intent not to sell at the price or upon the terms advertised." I tried to speak with a manager and express my concerns but they refuse to call me back. And they refuse to honor the advertised price! To make it worse, I looked at the salesman's computer when he pulled up my trade. I was in for service a month ago and they offered me $23,500 for my current Kia since they "needed cars." I knew that was underpriced and declined. But the computer said they offered me $27,300 at the time. Was the used car manager trying to pocket the extra $4,000?!? Or was this just more of the same from this dealership? I am still waiting to hear if they'll honor their advertised price. I'm not optimistic, but at least Virginia law allows for triple damages. I'd prefer the car, but will settle for vindication and sharing my experience so others avoid them. Gary Hall really came through for me. He made buying my new `22 Stinger as seamless as possible. He respected my time by having the car detailed, filled with gas, and with my new plates on it before I arrived. I left very expensive headphones in my trade in, but he kept them safe for me until I could get back to the dealership and then got the Service Department to reset my CEL for me (my fault, not the Stinger's). This is the worst example of a reputable dealership I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. The only positive was Eric White a salesman who tried to help. I purchased a new 2020 kia soul. Because I wanted a gray interior, I perused the internet and found what I wanted at Dulles Kia in Leesburg, Va. I am in Nevada. There were several problems..like the finance department cancelling my shipper without approval or permission. Charging me a registration and title fee when Nevada does not allow dealerships to register cars. They do not return calls...at all. The sales manager should be fired...arrogant, inflexible, rude, and the saddest part, indifferent. MR. L. should be retrained in proper customer service. Watch out!!! They also tag on an additional $2,000 to the advertised price online in dealer fees..more deceptive practices. I do not know how they stay in business. Bought a car here November 2021. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. 1. This dealership marks up their vehicles. 2. After negotiating terms, Josh (finance manger) tried to add $1,000. When I called him out on it, he says "honest mistake". They seemed very uneasy when I started going through the contract - this is a scam dealerships do. Make sure to review and check your terms prior to signing anything. 3. I drove out my way to Leesburg to get this car. The dealership was open until 8pm - I told them I'd be there by 7pm. Josh "sent home his finance guy early" so he refused to provide service - DURING BUSINESS HOURS. Talk about crap service. 4. Josh lowballed my trade in and refused to negotiate. I took the time to go to carmax and got my trade in quote, 4k above what they were offering. Josh matched the quote in a heartbeat. Note: there is a carmax right down the street, make sure to get a quote before you get scammed by this guy. This KIA was terrible. Worst service I've received anywhere - let alone a dealership. This Josh guy was terrible and should be let go for his dishonesty and poor service. If he is your finance manager, make sure to ask for someone else - if not, look through your contract for hidden fees and additional costs. First quote over email was straight forward. Then the second quote they had some $2500 invisible coat that could not be undone and I was to pay for. I escalated to management who promptly called back, apologized and chucked it up to miscommunication and that the original quote would be honored. Asked me to look for him when I got in. When I did he was not. The invisible BS was reduced to $1500 and once again it was a take it or leave it. No they won't honor the first quote. No the manager that called me can confirm because he's out. This is basic bait and switch. Deceptive practice camouflaged in human error. This is when being nice gets you taken advantage of. They don't care about you once they have your money and will take advantage of your kindness by lying to your face. I also don't feel like they followed the TrueCar price I received from USAA, but that wasn't my biggest issue, but I should have took that a sign and went with another dealer. I bought a car from this dealer in April 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic. Khalid was the sales person, but all the paperwork happened through Chris Keller. Before the paperwork was completed Khalid told Chris I would be registering my car in Florida because I am Military and that's where I am registered and that's where my original plates from the Buick I turned in was registered. For some reason Chris still "accidentally" put Virginia as where my plates would come from. Then he told me that because of the Covid 19 they were unable to do overtime, but he would fix the registration the next day. So I stupidly (trying to be nice and understanding) signed the paperwork expecting he would keep his word. A few days later I spoke with him on the phone about making sure my car was registered in Florida and that I had an Florida exemption packet to submit along with the paperwork and I was headed back to the dealers. He told me to email it to him instead so that's what I did. The packet was already filled out and signed by myself. He responded to my email that he received the email and I was good. A month later I had been approved to transfer to California and needed a new temporary plate to be shipped to me as mine had expired. However, there was confusion about where my plates were being registered. I again stated Florida and then sent Chris another email with the Florida Exemption packet and my orders stating I was now in California. He called me and asked for my Florida address for my Florida registration and asked where to send my Temporary tags. I gave him both addresses. Before my temporary tag made it to me, I called again to double check that Florida was where my car was being registered and the woman I spoke to told me Chris said everything was submitted for Florida. They then sent me another temporary tag with Florida as the state my permanent tag would be registered. Here I'm thinking the issue has been resolved, but they really just wanted to appease me enough that I didn't call about it again apparently. In June I called for yet another temporary plate to be sent to me. A woman from the out of state licensing office I guess called and said that once again there was confusion about where my plates would be registered and She stated there was paperwork for both Virginia and Florida. I called her back that day and left a voicemail that the car was to be registered in Florida and to call me back; She never did. I called AGAIN the next day, being sent to voicemail again, I stating the same thing about my Florida Plates and for her to call me back. She did not call that day either. She then call a day after my 2nd call and says my plates were ready from Virginia. So why call me and ask where my car was supposed to be registered if you were going to do whatever worked for you anyway? Soon as they got my money, they did whatever was easier for them. I don't think I asked for to much to get my car registered in the State I am registered in. I thought I would just be transferring my plate from my Buick to my Kia. They had no intention of ever registering my car in Florida and lead me on for months. So now I have a Drivers license in FL a car registered in VA and I just moved to CA. Instead of worrying about being nice and not bothering them or have them work overtime, I Should have been more assertive and made sure I seen everything taking care of correctly with my own eyes and asked for proof they did it correctly. So after I started working with these folks remotely I came across their Yelp ratings... pretty awful stuff, and I seriously began to question the great deal I thought I was getting through a car buying program. I drove 4 hours to get there - I didn't turn in my rental figuring there was yet a shoe to drop that would send me back home. I even started a timer as I exited my car onto the lot - thinking I may have a horror story of new- car-buying-hell to tell when the day was out. I worked with Mike, Nathan, and AJ in that order... (manager, news sales guy & finance guy). Negotiated over email, and came in as a "cash" buyer. My walk-away price was the same as the best deal I could get locally for a questionable used version of the car I was shopping! Dare I say it went swimmingly and that I am completely satisfied with the entire transaction (minus the self-induced stress and lowered expectations)? I was out of there in 1 hour and 20 minutes with a new car financed elsewhere. I'd ding them for a few etiquette points, but jeez, I got a great deal and from a purely practical point of view it was essentially painless. So - I'm a complainer when it comes to these things, and happy to write critical (though I hope thoughtful) reviews any day. Honestly, I don't often take the time to write positive reviews and expect most by far are the same. It was also the end-of-month-end-of-model-year-biggest-sales-week-of-the-year, right? But again, my experience was so good and I'm so happy with my new car (only had it for 3 days so my fingers are still crossed (that other-shoe issue)) and the entire process that I felt that I HAD to offer an alternative view to these guys. Went here for an oil change and was of course upsold: They said I needed a tire rotation due to uneven tread wear. I thought that plausible since I'd just been in an accident, so I paid for it, and then when I got home I showed my tires to a guy who knows cars. He looked over the tread again and again and couldn't find any uneven wear. And then he pointed out that if there'd have been a problem with tread wear, they'd have fixed it when they fixed the accident damage. So yeah... pretty sure there was zero problem there, but they charged me anyway. (And yes, I was a single young woman alone at the dealership. :-| ) What's worse: Guy-who-knows-cars also checked the oil, and apparently, it hadn't been changed. He showed it to me and it was filthy. It was, however, overfull. We'd checked it before I left for the dealership, and it was at the right level. So instead of actually changing the oil, it seems they just poured in some extra. Additionally, before I showed up, I looked in the Kia user manual at how often you should get an oil change. The manual says 7,000-8,000 miles. So when the cashier told me to come in again in 3,000 miles, I asked him why and told him what the manual says. The cashier gave me a very skeptical look, like I must be mistaken (girl-alone-at-a-dealership problem, or something else?), and basically said there's no way it says that, and they really don't recommend that unless I want to damage my engine. So when we discovered the oil hadn't been changed I told guy-who-knows-cars about this exchange with the cashier and a flash of recognition swept across his face: He said there are dealerships who tell you to come in twice as often as you need to, so they change the oil one time but not the next. Thus you're double-charged, but only get the one oil change you really need. I strongly suspect this dealership of doing that. And would strongly encourage anybody visiting here for an oil change to (1) check your oil both before and after your "oil change" to ensure your oil actually was changed, and (2) do not be upsold at an oil change visit--go get a second opinion before you let these guys convince you that you need something you don't. I won't be back here. In my experience, the Frederick dealership is much better. read more

If you are doing business with Mike Elgaen, expect an unprofessional experience. I was looking to buy a new car with a serious inquiry on the 2016 Kia Optima that they still had on the lot, as of 12/3/17. I don't think dealers like it when you're straight forward and you have information from other dealers. (you should always do your research and compare prices. Have some knowledge before going in.) When I emailed Hussein, some sales manager named Mike Elgaen was the one to respond. To me, Mike seemed like a person who wants to play games with an uninformed customer. Instead of asking me to provide proof or requesting more information about a quote I had on a 2017 model, he proceeded to imply that I was dumb to give him a quote that was listed online. (The online quote included incentives, which I knew I didn't qualify for) The actual quote I received for the 2017 was not the listed price that was on the other dealers' website. But it was a similar price, within a few hundred. The quote I received was also similar to what Dulles Kia was trying to push for the 2016, so I was going to see what they would do for the 2016. Mike Elgaen's email was full of poor grammar, misspelled words, and had an annoyed tone of "you're wrong, good bye". I would definitely not buy a car from this dealership. The price they advertise on their website is not even close to what they will actually charge. The window sticker is available on their site and they try adding in freight and other charges back in after their supposed discount price. They never have the vehicles onsite either. There is always a delay as vehicle is on its way. Totally shady operation, stay clear of this place. read more

Dulles Kia sold me a Maintenance Plan for $1,494 claiming that since my daughter was in college and didn't live near us, she would be able to take her car to any KIA dealership and get her maintenance without spending a dollar. I purchased the Premium plan. However, according to KIA Headquarters, Dulles Kia entered the information incorrectly in the system and the maintenance plan is reflected as the basis plan vice the premium. As such, I essentially paid almost $1500 for four years of oil changes. Dulles Kia has refused to call me back, I placed a complaint with KIA Headquarters and was told that the General Manager would call me, but it's been weeks and no one has called me back. I do not recommend this dealership. read more

This review is for the sales side. I had a Subaru which I adored and had every intention to drive until the wheels fell off. However, 3 kids in the backseat of a Crosstrek seemed like a great idea in theory, in execution it was cramped. Really cramped. I knew it was time to trade in my car into a mom-mobile when just school drop offs had become a Tetris level of problem solving to fit in two school aged kids, a baby carrier and all the accruements. I wasn't happy about it, but Sami at Dulles Kia made it a painless process and we have a new car that our kids love and I'm sure I'll grow to love too. We got an amazing deal our vehicle and trade and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. read more

Service staff skips inspection, doesn't have proper training. Took my Kia in for a recall service. Beforehand it had a problem with the brakes - either low fluid or thin pads, based on the warning light. In the service report they said everything was fine - it was obvious they had not even checked. Two days later my car would not start. Insurance reps and roadside assistance all told me the cause was poorly done ECM work as part of the recall service. I missed work because Dulles Kia ruined my car. Brought it back to have them fix it. After receiving no further news all day, I had to call 4 times before I got a service rep who knew what was happening to it. The first three calls resulted in: 1. Straight to voicemail 2. Rep answered, put me on hold that ended up at voicemail after five minutes. 3. Rep put me on hold for 10 minutes, came back to tell me he had no idea what was going on. Hung up when I said the shop was incompetent. The kind-of competent person I finally got refused to take responsibility. He said there was a leak causing the brake light issue due to low fluids. When I asked why that wasn't found in the inspection three days ago, he backtracked and said it "wasn't a big leak." He claimed the fact that my battery died right after they modified my electronics, and three days after they confirmed my battery was perfectly fine, was a "coincidence." It's going to end up costing me hundreds to fix all the damage they did to my car for maintenance. But at least I know enough to not let them do the repair. read more

Called about a vehicle they were selling and was told they were selling for MSRP + tax and fees. When I got there I test drove the vehicle, had my trade evaluated and agreed on a price. Just before signing the pricing paperwork noticed they were double charging for freight. The MSRP price we had discussed already included freight, and then they added it on again. The sales person said he didn't know that the sales manager was adding freight on top for that vehicle. He said he had "no idea what was in the sales managers head" when we talked on the phone. I attempted to discuss with the sales manager. He used the argument that since they said taxes and fees were extra they had done nothing wrong. He also said that the freight "fee" was laid out on the website, but that's not what I was told when I called. To me fees typically would mean tags, title, document, etc not double charging for freight. They left it at take it or leave it since they'd sell it to the next person that walked in. I left it even though I had taken time off from work to go buy the car based on the pricing I had been given over the phone. To me the $1000 they tacked on wasn't a huge deal, but the fact that they were decieving was. read more

David Williams is the only reason I came to this dealership a second time. The usual dealership games were played with me on my 2nd car purchase here. The finance lady talks a good game and tries to sneak extended warranties into the deal and when confronting her about it, she states it must of been a miscommunication. All aspects of the deal were agreed upon me driving 4.5 hours and of course the rate goes up before my very last signature. Joke. Way to sour my experience after David did a superb job working on this sale for 4 months after my Optima purchase in January. Once again David is superb at his job and the remainder of clowns pull down Dulles Kia. read more

Love my new Kia and loved my salesperson but be very very careful with the sales/finance department. We were told we could get a lower interest rate by purchasing a warranty for several thousand dollars we didn't want and could just cancel before 90 days and get a refund directly to us but no - the refund goes on the loan. In addition, we transferred our license plate from our old vehicle. When they did the paperwork with the DMV they renewed the registration for 2 years but did not give us the decals. Who knows what they are doing with our decals but when we asked for them they refused to give them to us and now we have to sit at the DMV. They tried to insist it was easy to get replacements by calling the DMV and insisted they were only on hold for 10 minutes but when we try and call there is no option to be on hold at all for any length of time so yet another lie. read more

I submitted my new leased my car for my "free" 1st oil change 3 years ago. It cost me $129, because I was told they needed to "clean the brake disks." On a NEW CAR with not even 6k miles! I've never heard of such a bunch of bull. Also, I had to chase them for my license plates, which they could not locate in their office, and had to print new ones. Needless to say, I never returned for service or anything else to them since (went to Jiffy Lube instead), and I'm thankfully returning the vehicle at end of lease tomorrow! Will not purchase a vehicle from them again -very unprofessional and unorganized! read more
