Pan Fried Pork and Leek Dumpling
    Ashley H.

I think they definitely deserve their name - they are really the dumpling king! We ordered the pork and leek pan fried dumplings and they are one of the best we've had! For 10 pieces, it was $7.50 with tax and because we were doing a little Chinatown food crawl, this was enough for two people to share. This place is in a little food court that has other things you can try. Seating for this stall was just two seats but everyone eats quickly so when your made to order dumplings are done, it becomes your turn to sit. It takes about 10 minutes for your dumplings to be ready and it comes out piping hot, with every bite bursting with juice and flavor. So yummy! This was one of my top foods from my trip to Boston!

Dumpling is the biggest positive dining surprise we have had in decades. Tucked into a minuscule Chinatown "food court," you will find 3 tiny-house restaurants and a tea shop. It was a little hard to find and once there, we actually hesitated and would have gone if it wasn't for the long list of positive reviews, line of people ordering, and high rating. The menu is streamlined and straightforward. Get your steamed or pan fried dumplings with a limited selection from which to choose. We stayed and ate in the tight quarters, but everyone else was taking theirs to go. When our order came, I opened the container to see VERY simple dumplings. I didn't anticipate much but these pork dumplings were some of the best I have ever had and my favorite ice agreed. Have had more than our share of dumplings over the past decades!! Seriously great dumplings. Who cares about fancy crimping when the dumplings taste so fabulous and at an amazing price. If you can't find it right away, keep looking. Don't judge it by its cover, it's gonna be great.

Delicious, made to order potstickers and dumplings in a itty-bitty food court. 10 dumplings for $7 in this economy? Sign me up. Wish they had more legit customer seating, as their only seats are around a foldable table in front of where you order. Not really a feasible seating area, but the dumplings do travel just fine. Didn't love the veggie dumplings, but the chicken and pork with leek dumplings were wonderful. The gentleman / owner of the shop is super friendly and his chef in the back gets the job done! Frozen dumplings are also available for purchase. Overall, a yummy cheap eat to enjoy during a Boston Chinatown food crawl! Highly recommend!

Great dumplings! Not so great service. : ( The space was interesting. Imagine a room with five different "restaurants" squeezed into one.

The food isn't too bad. No frills. Don't expect friendliness. Just order and give them your money. Limited space and not really a sit down place. Shares an area with three to four other businesses Made to order. Fresh and crispy.

I got the pork and leek as well as the pork and mushroom dumplings to go. The space is inside other little shops so just walk through. There isn't too many spaces to sit so I ended up taking it to go. I tried both the stir fried and boiled version. The size of the dumplings are generous and honestly it's scrumptious. For the price and portion and flavor, it's really running for its buck! A cheap yet great meal if you are ever in Chinatown. You can also buy the frozen dumplings in case you didn't have enough of it! I love the dipping sauce they have as well. I will recommend the stir fry for a bit more crunchy texture of the dumplings if it's your first time.

Dumpling king is located in the food court. I absolutely love the veggie pan fried dumplings here. They are so good! You can also get frozen dumplings from them. It does get pretty busy in there, especially at regular dining hours, so make sure you go with plenty of time to spare. It is a little crowded and there is not really any place to sit, but the takeout is worth it!

This place truly brought me back to life. Needed some steamed pork dumplings and this place hit the spot. It was the most popular spot in the tiny food hall by far. No combo available when I went and they do accept cards. Very nice and fast

Every year I have a firm meeting in Boston in December, and I spend an extra day in town. I usually pop over to Gene's flatbread Café for a late breakfast, but they don't open until 11, so this year I tried dumpling king, which opens at 10. Very glad I did! Super tasty dumplings served piping hot - be careful!. I have the pork and leek, fried. It's a relative steal at 10 pieces for seven bucks. It's a very simple food court of sorts - four little business jammed into a tiny space. There is no seating for dumpling king, but the other businesses have some countertop seating, and I think it's OK to sit there as long as those businesses are not open. Pop over to Ho Yuen Bakery before or after for a tasty beef curry bun.

Tiny hole in the wall place with delicious and inexpensive dumplings! I got some spicy soup from the place right by it and they paired perfectly together. Highly recommend! Probably the best deal you'll find on food in the city.

Oh man, these dumplings were delicious. Probably the best I've ever had, and at a great price. We originally intended to eat somewhere else but they were closed for 4th of July. We ended up going a few shops down to Dumpling King. The sign is on the window, but it's really in a "food hall" right next to it. It is a very tight space and slightly chaotic, but well worth it.

42 Beach Street in Food Court. Service - good. I ordered the steamed pork dumplings. Yum, yum, yum! Worth a trip to Chinatown just for these. Frozen dumpling bags (large) made locally available for purchase. $5.00 each. Guesstimate each bag holds 25 dumplings.

Got the pan friend dumplings! These were really good for the price (10 for $7). And are so juicy

Great dumplings at a great price. If you're in to real Chinese dumplings, this is the place to go. Kind of a hidden gem though.

After doing a quick TikTok search, I was prompted to try out this chicken sandwich from Rubato. We walked over and actually missed it on the street because it's so tiny. After realizing it, we turned around and to our surprise, there were several people inside eating and others waiting. This must be a good sign. We walked in and it was the most casual, laid-back establishment. The green color scheme and plants gave it a more earthy vibe, which I absolutely loved. Since we didn't necessarily know what to order we decided to split the fried chicken bolo. When I tell you, I have not stopped thinking about that sandwich since I ate it, I'm not kidding. It was absolutely delicious. My husband, who was resistant to even going in the first place, kept telling everyone around town about it. We will not skip a beat when in Quincy next to visit this establishment. Thanks for an awesome experience.

Ever since Double Chin Restaurant in Chinatown closed (may she rise again), I've been on a mission to find a worthy fried chicken bolo bao. My friend and I trudged into Rubato on a cold, rainy day, hoping for a replacement. Spoiler alert: we did not find one. We ordered four items: rice rolls with curry fish balls, an egg custard lava bun, Ovaltine French toast, and the fried chicken bolo bao. The rice rolls were mild but fine, topped with enough cilantro and scallion to keep it interesting. The lava bun was hot, gooey, and did its job. (GOOD JOB, LAVA BUN!) The Ovaltine French toast? Eh, it aite. But here's the heartbreak: the chicken bolo bao. The chicken wasn't hot; it had that "sat around" feeling. And the bun? Just a dressed-up brioche, missing that true bo lo bao magic. A brioche bun with a crackly top is not a bo lo bao, my dudes. In short, everything was edible, but nothing made me want to come back. (It's not like watching like a hawk for an empty seat and swooping in the moment one opens up is any fun.) The chicken deserved better.
