Ok, so full disclosure: I'm no expert on authentic Chinese dim sum. And this is probably the 2nd time in my lifetime I've had it. But after driving from the Catskills to help our daughter settle into her new MA apartment, hubs and I got hit with a serious craving for Chinese food the way we know it in NYC- either that hood spot feel or restaurant-style. You know...crispy broccoli in brown sauce, veggies in that same glorious glaze and fried rice with that greasy, salty kick only NYC knows how to do. In comes Sun K. and because it was easy to get to. You walk in, dining room to the right, sunken room to the left and they hand you a dim sum menu with a pen like you're about to take the SATs. We skipped all that and went straight for the à la carte menu. I asked for plain broccoli with brown sauce. What I got was like steamed broccoli in white sauce. My daughter ordered shrimp and broccoli and asked for brown sauce too- but she got the same white sauce. Is brown sauce not used in MA? Is MA in some kind of no-brown sauce zone? What's happening? At least offer the option of brown or white sauce. Hubs ate most of his pork fried rice. Was the food fresh? Sure, I'll give 'em that. But no brown sauce? I guess that's just how they roll in MA (?). That's not just a slip-up- that's like a full-on Chinese food miss with very nice service in a low-key vibe.

A few menu items. They include Chinese characters, English descriptions and a picture of each dish.

This place is the real deal for dim sum. my extended family came the day after Christmas for a meal. The staff is efficiently buzzing about serving the guests (who were mostly East Asian, which my family took as a good omen). The restaurant consists of two large rooms with round tables. When we walked in, there were several parties already waiting, and we sat by some fish tanks at the front door. Our table is ready rather quickly. Much faster than they had estimated. We sat and were handed menus and a little form to complete for placing our order. As they deliver the dishes, they checked them off on the master bill. The food was incredible and the tea had actual loose leaves. Thank you goodness the tablecloth is waterproof because we spilled our tea and sauces no less than 1000 times in our hour there. We ordered about 20 dishes which somehow came out to a total of just over $100. That fed five people plus an immense amount of leftovers. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend that you come by for a meal as well.

For ALL non Asians, don't expect great service, just be glad IF you receive it. LOL Food was great but same as the last time we came. Came on a Tuesday after Christmas week. Pretty packed and they were pretty busy. First 4 dishes came out quick and then very slowly the next one came one by one. Then the last 6 items were at a stand still for like 20 minutes. I asked, turns out, they didn't make sweet tofu that day. No one thought to come tell us that. We ordered 4 sweet tofu. Apparently the last two dishes were still being made. I waited another 15 minutes or so, then the pan fried bun came and I asked the lady about the egg custard, she said 'Oh' and grabbed one right off the cart. By now we've already sat so long waiting, lost our appetite so we needed to pack it all up. I asked for to go containers for the dry dishes and for the left over congee. I got the styrofoam containers, I asked if I can have the tub for the congee, lady walked off never came back. Then I asked one of the red shirt, he looked and 'oh' and walked away and never came back. I waved down a different red shirt and this one got me a plastic tub right away. This is pretty much the norm. I'm just glad the food taste good.

The food was spoiled I bought a pu pu platter for two the crab ragoon was so hard and the filling taste spoiled The teriyaki stick wasn't even cooked And the spring roll the cabbage was spoiled as well. I think this is the last time I'll ever eat Chinese food again.

This review is for the dim sum. Visiting a friend, and wanted to checkout the dim sum scene. I like this place a lot - service is friendly and quick, ambiance is chill and relaxed (based on coming on a weekday lol). There are no carts - you order via a form. Beverages - I ordered pu erh (bolay) tea, and two cans of Starry Lemon Lime. I ordered my go-tos - - Diced Spareribs w/Black Beans (they served delicious cubed taro pieces underneath) - Poached Chinese Broccoli - Shrimp & Chives Dumplings (an order gives you 3 pcs) - Shrimp Dumpling (har gow) - Pork & Shrimp Shao Mai (shu mai) - Stir Fried Sticky RIce I also ordered to try - - Fried Stuffed Tofu: pretty good. The "stuffed" part is a fried shrimp paste patty placed on top - Malaysian Style Sponge Cake: so yummy, and hard to find nowadays. - Steamed Roast Pork Bun Everything was delicious. What stood out were the spareribs, sticky rice and Malaysian Style sponge cake. Total came out to about $72 (with a lot of leftovers). I'm a happy girl.

Everything was amazingly delicious! I especially like the lamb pot, flavorful and saucy. The service was very fast and friendly. After we finished the meal, they brought sweet red bean soup and it was very tasty. Another table was celebrating a birthday, the ambiance was positive and festive. I will definitely go back again.

I used to love coming here for dim sum and sometimes do takeout for dinner whenever I'm in the area. But after my last visit I think I have a change of heart. I don't think I'll be returning. It was slightly busy on a Monday morning but there were a lot of waiters. I was seated right away there were 4 of us. They hand you a pictured menu along with a white piece paper to checked off what you want to order. Then handed back to your waiter. I put in my order waited for my food. Everything I've order came out. Except for the extra crab ball I ordered because I didn't realized it was only one and not two as pictured. But that never came. Also put in two ordered for sticky rice. That never came out as well. Nobody ever came out and told me why it never came. Or ask if we needed anything. So with that being said the dim sum was just okay. It didn't tasted as good as the last time I was here. But I felt an off vibe every time I'd requested something. They seem annoyed. Maybe because I'm not Chinese and doesn't speak their language I felt I was treated differently. I never came off as being rude or anything. So with their bad service because some stuff I ordered never came out and they never inform me about it and also weren't attentive at my table I would not be returning.

This is a solid, affordable dimsum place for a quick breakfast or brunch. It's often very busy and bustling, and it can be hard to flag down a waiter. The food is good and hits the spot. Nothing special, but it is tasty and comes out quick.

$45 for 8-9 items? Not bad.

Not great for dim sum... Very salty and greasy. I wanted to drink a gallon of water after eating. The only thing I liked was egg tarts.

The piggy face on the bao are cute 4. Other dishes were also solid Negatives: 1. The waiter misheard something we ordered and they did not correct it. 2. The minion bao did not have the proper decorations. It did not look like a minion. 3. The durian swans do not taste like they use real durian. The flavor is not there, and there is no stringiness that real durian has. It's also really overpriced. 4. Some dishes took really long. 20+ minutes

Got a large variety of dim sum items and it all came out pretty quickly. My favorites were the chicken feet, tripe, shrimp and chive dumplings and salty egg yolk charcoal lava bun! The steamed tripe was super flavorful in a ginger onion sauce and all the shrimp items were really great with plenty of filling. We got both the regular steamed salty egg yolk lava buns and the charcoal one and I have to say, you gotta get the charcoal buns as the filling is way more flavorful and has that runny, ooey gooey texture I love! Parking can be tricky in downtown Malden but there is a parking lot in the back or metered street parking if you can find a space.
