I've been looking for an old fashion barbershop. All the ones I've been to are for younger guys with really LOUD music and boisterous talk. Then I found Dunks. It's quiet, old school and the only noise is the hum of the machines cutting hair. I used Andy, liked the cut and the massage afterwards was good to. Then I gravitated to Andrew and he became my guy. I love the attention to my mustache and goatee, and of course I like the way he leaves what little hair I have left looking. There's only been one time a customer ruined the last male bastion of quiet when he took his girlfriend into the shop and she couldn't or wouldn't shut up. I haven't been to this Barbershop in years I believe around 2017. I came in the last of week August 2025, got my cut done by Andy or Andrew. I was the only customer in there, the hair cut quality is legit, paid $20 plus tip. It used to be $12, then $15, and now it's $18/$20. Good deal for a simple haircut. Some of my friends go and they do some pretty complex fades and have a couple specific barbers at Dunks that, long waits for Andrew. For me I have a pretty simple cut so I'm not picky, and everyone seems to do a good job. Sometimes I feel it's a little rushed but overall content. read more

I usually go to a different barber but he sold his shop so I tried Dunk and it was pretty good, reasonable prices and great haircut.

Don't go here. I've been here a couple of times and they cut OK. I came in and there were 2 barbers doing haircuts. The dude nearest to the door told me that I have to wait and that he's almost done anyway. So I told him that's no problem. I waited like 15 mins and when he's done I stood up knowing that I am next but then a guy came in and asked the barber if he's free and the barber just said yes and let him sit. I could tell they know each other. The barber approached me and told me that the other barber is almost done. I just walked out. This place is a joke! I would never go back this place. Ask for a saved head and trimmed beard! My beard was 5 in. long! Now it is 1.5 in. How is that a trim??? Shaved my head with electric razor when it says razor on the window! Worst experience ever at a barber shop! read more

I have been coming to this location for over a year now. I can simply say Andrew is by far the best barber I have worked with! Everytime I come to visit him he remembers me as well as my haircut. Ever since I've came across Andrew I have not visited anyone since. He is very articulate with his methods and leaves me with a cut that always impresses friends and family. Had two good cuts here and now two bad ones. Andrew was good. This other guy i got twice now sucks. He's messed up my hair twice now First time he left the hairs above my ear. He went over it with his clippers so much it started hurting my ears and head, but he still couldnt get the hairs for some reason. He's a poor barber. The second time, same barber tries to line me up, only to cut the left extremely short and left the right side long. Ask for Andrew or go to the barber you've had good experiences with. Please don't come here don't waste you're money here I told the old Vietnamese guy I just the ends of my hair cut and some shape. To keep my hair long he ignored what I said he cut way to much and to cut the ends of my hair he only snip two parts of my hair and that's it I was in the chair for like 3 minutes which was fast my hair was short and the ends were not cut now I have to let it grow and for 16 dollars no thank you terrible and not clean inside not what I wanted. read more

I was going to Sam waaaaay back when he was at Brookhurst. Always a great attitude, the guy never seams to stop working. I love when Sam cuts my hair and he has always cut it well. He was my sons 1st hair cut 21 years ago. My only complaint is that the other people in there are not even close to as good as Sam. Ive left with bad cuts almost everytime it was not Sam. I had to stop going because they are always busy and its difficult to get with Sam. Please hire better back up Barbers or you will lose more customers. read more

I took my son today around 2:10 and waited for over an hour. An elderly man came about 15 minutes after us. It was finally our turn and the employee called the other customer that had come after us. I said to the employee that we were next and he looked at us and said that the other guy was first which was not true at all! My son and I walked out and will never ever go back again. Dunks is the only place I will get a haircut from. I especially recommend the barber who sits by the door. I never asked for his name in my years of going but I do appreciate how he will remember each of his customers and what they like too. Do I really want people to know I was happy with an $8 haircut? Maybe that's why I tipped my barber $5 so I honestly can up that. So hey! I just got myself a more than decent $13 haircut. Hmm, still sounds like I am a cheap ass huh? But ya know what? For $8, $13, whatever, these guys do a great job. A tad shorter than I prefer, but still a great scissor cut. Steven N chastised me for getting my last several cuts at Hawleywoods. $45 plus $10 tip for a haircut, straight razor shave, and a goat trim. He said something like: "dude, they got straight razors at this barbershop next to Pauls Coffee Shop. I'll bet they will trim that goat of yours too, all for a hell of a lot less." Yep, I did see on their offerings board: haircut $8, beard trim $4. Didn't see a straight razor shave offered, but with my light beard that is probably something I don't need anyway. I took my younger brother here after seeing that great reviews on Yelp about the place. We were looking for somewhere to get an inexpensive cut for him that also did a good job. Most of the time, he dislikes his haircuts because the barbers never listen to him. Right when we walked into the small, unassuming place though, we knew immediately that it would be good. I mean, we saw three slightly hunched-over senior barbers (two women, one man) and cheerfully cutting their customers' hair. We even got a welcome as did anyone else walking into the shop. All three of them just looked like adorable grandparents you wanted to hug. I loved seeing how most of their customers were regulars as everyone was just chatting candidly. The place looks a little old school, sure, but that's not what's important. What's important is getting the hair cut the way you want it, and my brother was not disappointed. He really liked his haircut and for $8, it's a steal. We tipped well and left feeling happy about the place. We'll have to come back for the friendly service, quick but precise cut, and the overall good experience. read more

This place is generally good but the last time I went one of the long-time barbers messed up my hair. I'm very sure he didn't simply buzz the top of my head with clippers. I've been hating what I see in the mirror ever since. They also raised their price to 12 bucks. I'm looking for a new place now. The same idiot who did my hair also 1) asked me to repeat myself 2-3 times for extremely simple instructions 2) questioned what I wanted and made me feel a little guilty for wanting longer hair than he thought I should get. To be fair, only one of the barbers is a moron. The rest are good/just do their jobs and don't pretend to make things fancy, which I prefer. Only one person, the lady, speaks English well.
