I can't say enough good things about the excellent care I received at Durango Dental. As luck would have it, I had a dental emergency on a weekend. I also have bad dental anxiety, so it is important to me to be comfortable with the providers. Emergency dentists weren't available or were way out of my budget. I found Durango Dental via Yelp, and not only were they reasonably priced, but they also have appointments 7 days a week. When I called, Jamae answered and was friendly, helpful, and reassuring. She took my information and was able to schedule me the same day. She was even more amazing in person during the check-in and check-out processes. How fortunate this practice is to have her as the first introduction a patient received to the practice. Once back in the treatment room, I was greeted by Dr. Huang. She patiently listened to my concerns, reassured me, and came up with a plan I was comfortable with executing. She was assisted by Ryan, who made me feel like I was an old friend and ensured that he explained every step to me. My follow-up with Dr. Kwok to continue my treatment plan was excellent and hassle-free as well. Everyone I encountered in the practice was so patient, kind, and caring. My husband and I visited Durango Dental Group today for consultation. Dr. Kwok gave us a second opinion but did not want to waste her time with questions about other procedures needed. For two implants with all the necessary procedures befor and after, like extraction, bone build up and crown, the office price without their discount is $27,000. With their discount, the cost would be $18,000 to $19,000. This is highway rubbery. I don't know why we even visited this place again since we had been charged $5,300 for procedure called ofseous for one tooth. Research says, it should be $1500-$3000. I wanted to like this place, but what I found is a dentist who was using dishonesty to sell more expensive procedures. What happened? A few months ago, I went in for a routine cleaning--the kind insurance pays for every six months. At that appointment for a routine cleaning, the dentist said I had gum recession, and also said I needed a deep cleaning. This surprised me, because I have had gum recession my whole life, and no dentist has ever suggested a deep cleaning. In fact, I'd been to Durango Dental six months before, and the prior dentist I'd seen there--Dr. Pang--hadn't suggested it. But for some reason, on my most recent visit, the new dentist, whom I had not seen before, said I needed a deep cleaning. This new dentist also said I should come see their periodontist for gum grafts to fill in my recession, and that the periodontist would not see me, and would not do the gum surgery, until after I had the deep cleaning. When she said this, I had a feeling that the dentist wasn't telling me the truth. I had a strong feeling that the dentist was telling me a fib that I had to have the deep cleaning before I could get the gum graft, in order to sell the deep cleaning, which costs much more than a routine cleaning. Why did I have that feeling? Because when I hesitated about doing the more expensive deep cleaning, she acted as if she was doing me a favor to do the routine cleaning that I came in for. She kept saying, "Well, as a courtesy, I will do the complimentary cleaning for you this time" (by complimentary cleaning, she meant the routine cleaning that my insurance company pays for every six months). When she kept saying, "complimentary cleaning" it didn't feel right to me. It felt dishonest. I finally asked her, "Why are you calling this a 'complimentary cleaning', and acting like you're doing me a favor if you provide one? This cleaning that you're calling 'complimentary' is paid for by my insurance company. Why are you suggesting that you're doing me a favor of providing a free service when my insurance company is paying for this?" How did she respond? She said, "Because I don't get paid when you have the routine cleaning." At that point, I could see what was going on. When she said, "Because I DON'T GET PAID when you have the routine cleaning," It seemed clear to me that she was suggesting the deep cleaning because it cost more money. In other words, she was going to "get paid" if she sold a more expensive procedure. She wouldn't "get paid" if she did the routine cleaning. She was calling the routine cleaning "complimentary" because it wasn't going to put money in her pocket. At that point, I left the office. I didn't trust her. I wondered to myself, do I really need a deep cleaning before their periodontist will see me? Do I really need a deep cleaning before I can have the gum graft done? It turns out that she was not telling the truth. She was in fact lying to me when she said the periodontist wouldn't even see me if I didn't have the deep cleaning. How do I know? Today I had my appointment with their periodontist. Not only was he was willing to see me without a deep cleaning. He was willing to do the procedure without a deep cleaning. So what did I glean from this experience? Maybe I need a deep cleaning and maybe I don't. But I can't trust Durango Dental to tell me the truth about that, so now can hopefully find a dentist who will tell me the truth in a way that's not tinged with the desire to line their own pocket. If I need it fine. If I don't need it, also fine. But I will never know the truth when it's clear the dentist is thinking about their commission/bonus from selling a more expensive (and painful) procedure. P.S. I went to see the periodontist in their office because he was an independent contractor and I thought he might conduct himself more professionally. That experience also was a disaster. May 28, 2021 I had a tooth emergency. I was in extreme pain for over 8 hours and this was a holiday weekend. I was worried that I would have to wait until that Monday before I could see a dentist however I found this office of my ins co. website and they showed Saturday appts. I called Saturday morning May 29th and spoke with a fabulous receptionist who could tell I was in extreme pain and was kind enough to speak with Dr. Pang about a last minute appt. The dr agreed to let me be a walk in and I was there within minutes. Dr pang has amazing bed side manner. He made the process a delight and they even offered me a blanket when I got cold. I did spend the entire afternoon in his chair because I was a walk in but he was able to do a full root canal, crown and 2 fillings and I was able to walk out with minimal pain. 7 months later my crown is great and little to no pain. I do have much more work left to do and I plan to go back. I've only been there once and worked with Dr Pang but I will be back just for him! Give them a try. People usually only leave bad reviews but I had to share my positive experience. read more

The dentist I normally see is out today. They refuse to allow me to see any other dentist regardless of how much pain I am in. Their answer is for me to continue to suffer. The person who answered the phone, her name is America, lacks compassion, understanding and I feel as if she really doesn't care! I asked a couple of very direct questions and she refused to answer or even attempt to get me an answer. Where do I start ? I've been going to this dentist for 3 years. I get cleaning here. I was honestly happy thinking okay if I come here to my appointments my teeth should be fine . Or t least I would be told if anything is wrong. I had braces for over two years. After that I was told I had few cavities and I started doing the filling as requested. But months later I got pregnant and I realized my tooth was broken . I thought was one of the fillings I had recently got taken cared of , but no when I got there the dentist told me I had a broken wisdom tooth and had a very bad cavity. I asked her how come I been coming here for THREE years and no one told me my wisdom tooth was bad and had to be removed? Her answer was yeah the dr told you 3 years ago . I was like no the dr told me if my orthodontist had mentioned anything about my wisdom tooth. Long story short I thought by going here every 4 months to do cleaning I was in good Hands but I was wrong . They keeps doing cleaning and charging me and not telling me how bad my wisdom tooth were. I am definitely not going back here. Oh not to mention I also have gum recession and I asked the dr about it I believe her name is Natalie when I asked her about my gum recession her answer was one thing at the time . Oh I'm sorry I should just wait and lose all my teeth over here! I do miss the dentist who used to work there . But unfortunately he was transferred to a different state. Let me just start by saying I generally hate dentist offices in Vegas because I feel like they're always trying to rip you off and pay for services you don't really need. This is definitely not the case at Durango Dental. The appointment was super easy to make and I love that they're open late on Tuesdays so I can come right after work. The overall appointment went very well. It was my first visit so I got X-rays and a cleaning done. Doctor Matt was my dentist and he was super friendly and down to earth. I've now been seeing Dr. Masaki for over 5 years. He is still the best dentist I've ever had. He is knowledgeable and kind but, most important to me, he's honest. He doesn't push unnecessary treatment on you. If you ask about elective care, he has the office give you the costs and lets you decide whether you want to move forward. He also has a pretty non traditional schedule which allows working scrubs like me even less excuses to avoid the dentist. He has a regular Friday 7 am start day, as well as some occasional weekend hours. The hygienists and office staff are great. I get in and out quickly. I get there promptly for my Friday 7 am appointment, and I am back at my desk before anyone notices, with my teeth feeling clean as a whistle. This place is putting a hurt on the bad rap dentists get. After having a few bad experiences in town, I am so glad I found Durango Dental and Dr. Masaki. read more
