They have deals all the time on Groupon and restaurant.com, so that got us to go to a place we otherwise wouldn't have. It's off the beaten path and is part of what appears to be a business park. We came for dinner on a Friday night. We tried an appetizer combo (wings, tenders and potato skins) for $14, two soup and half sandwich combos (clam chowder and turkey melt) for $10 each and two beers (snakebites - beer and cider) for around $8 each. Overall, I was pretty meh about it. The turkey melt was wet as hell on the bottom half, which took away from an otherwise good sandwich. Everything else was good, but overpriced in my opinion. Even with our $10 off deal, the bill was still basically $50 including tax and tip. So to think an app, two half sandwiches, two cups of soup and two beers would otherwise run you $60 at a not-high-end pub is absurd. They do have HH deals that run until 8, which would save money, but you can't utilize Groupon or restaurant.com deals when you pick those items! read more

I'd like to challenge Durty Nelly's to step up their fish &chips game. Make the fish look like cod rather than an open wallet. Make the batter lighter and crunchier and at least half as oily. Also just check the fish to breading ratio so that it looks like there's substantially more fish on the plate than breading. Last thing, RAISINS? in the cole slaw? Really? It should come with a warning. AND the server defending the current state of it by citing great sales is not an indicator that it couldn't or shouldn't be improved. Perfect little IRISH restaurant-bar tucked away between multiple small businesses! The service is very friendly and the drinks and food are brought out quite quickly. It definitely has the Irish bar darker lighting, cherry wood, and dark greens you could imagine, and time seems to fly when you're there. They have some days (Pre-Covid) set up for Karaoke night. Tucked away off of Redhill in somewhat of a commercial/industrial area Durty Nellie's is a great Irish Pub. Their Shepards Pie is a must try. Surprisingly they cook up a great clam chowder. This is homemade stuff rich with clams and spices. Not something out of the can. We were there on a Saturday night and there was live music. An eclectic band called The Goat Hill Gamblers. This place is a hidden gem. The food is amazing, the booze comes quick, and the service is great! I have been coming here for years and they are consistent to say the least. I just ordered the shepherds pie. It took a good amount of time but you can tell that it did. It is phenomenal and authentic. Check your credit card statements everyone. Came here on a Friday evening and got two beers. The receipt stated $16, but my credit card posted $50. This is the first time in a very long time a bar has done this to me. Since I didn't keep the receipt, I lost the dispute. This is a fun Irish themed bar in an industrial park. I liked the grass area and the outside looked way better than I expected (so sorry I didn't grab a photo). Parking: parking is easy. This is a small bar! I feel like if just one table was removed it would be so much easier to move around! The staff is friendly. We went on a Saturday afternoon to see a friend's brother and his cover band play. The fish and chips were good. The chicken finger appetizer had really great flavor! Lots of Guinness. 4 stars for being a bit understaffed and it took a little longer than we usually like to have drinks refilled and to get our check at the end. read more

Last night, we were at Nelly's for their Thursday night karaoke. We got there at 7:20pm & our waitress Amy asked us what we would like to drink in terms of alcohol beverages. Since we're familiar with the menu, we put in our dinner orders at the same time. I also asked her for a couple of waters before she left. We got our cocktails within 10 minutes, but NO WATERS! We got our food 50 minutes later! Like, how long does it take to make a salad and an appetizer? And still, NO WATERS! My friend flagged a different waitress to ask for waters. By this time, they announced that the kitchen would be closing at 9pm. We finished our dinner, sang two songs in the rotation, & the other waitress(not Amy) cleared our tables, & still NO WATERS! We left at 10:30, we nursed our drinks up to the very last drop coz the entire time we were there, two waitresses never served us waters! Mind you, the place wasn't packed, plenty of empty tables & the people not singing karaoke all left around 9pm! Giving them 3stars for lukewarm service. I would give 2 stars except we love their KJ & the ambiance of the place! read more

Okay here's the deal about this place... Let's put it in perspective: I'm REALLY into dive bars. They're totally my jam so obviously when I drive by this place on my way to work it really catches my eye. I decided to plan a Happy Hour with my coworkers after work and we weren't disappointed. FOOD: We ordered Thai Spice wings, Hot wings, onion rings, potato skins and two beers. We were really digging the Happy Hour specials so we sort of went crazy with the food. Also, their Happy Hour lasts 'till 9pm -- Danger! My wings were alright and I've had better onion rings but they really hit the spot because it's a dive bar, duh. SERVICE: Most waiters or waitresses at dive bars are rude but our waitress was nice and smiled a lot. LOCATION: This place isn't dirty like most dive bars. They have several TV's where people were watching the World Series and it added a cool vibe/atmosphere to the bar. We left right when trivia was about to start so I'd like to come back to definitely try that out! The bar is actually located in this area with several businesses, it's an interesting location but I don't mind it! If you come after work, parking isn't bad. It's a locals restaurant/bar. The food is actually pretty good here. Last time I went, I had some hh oysters, escargot, and fish and chips (they are known for their fish and chips). They have a full bar. Because they are in an industrial park, they close really early.. 9p on most weekdays. They're one of OC's best known karaoke spots, with karaoke every Thursday, with David Soto, Friday, with Bobby Vegas, and every 2nd and 4th Saturday with the hard working and ever-present Anjel. There is no better place to do karaoke. If you haven't experienced Durty Nelly's karaoke, you haven't experienced real karaoke. Trust me; I'm an expert. They also have a great menu, and servers who know how to pour a great drink. And their servers are their shining stars. Janet is such a fantastic, warm, and friendly person who truly gets to know her patrons and makes you feel welcome. Sue is a ball of energy, tending to your every need, while also working the crowd and injecting her own brand of fun into every karaoke night. Can't be missed! But the heart and soul of Durty Nelly's is Liz. Once she learns your name, she'll never forget it. And every time she sees you, she welcomes you back with a big smile and a heart-felt hello. I came with a group of friends today (st Patrick's day) and while the food and drinks were good, the service that Sue provided was absolutely astounding. When we came in before the lunch rush, I could see Sue taking care of the whole restaurant and my oh my did she handle it amazingly! I've worked in food service before and I was in awe with how she was able to handle such a crazy rush all by herself. Words cannot describe enough how much I appreciated her service and bubbly personality. If you ever come by, be sure to have Sue as your server! read more

I have been driving past this spot for 2 years now and decided to pop in to give them a try. Im glad I did. Great lil lunch spot and even looks fun for a after work happy hour. I tried the soup/sandwich option and it was super tasty. I got a side of fries and it was HUGE. Im forgetting what soup I got but I remember it being very good. I was after the clam chowder but the soup of the day got me. I got one of the grilled Ruben for my sandwich and it was also tasty. Not the leanest meat in town but it was a great lunch over all. The ladies that served the place worked well as a team and seamed to know many locals. The vibe was really good and felt like a really fun place to go wit friends.
