When they say Durty, they aren't saying that to be camp-y...they mean it. I've heard of Durty Nelly's several times, but since I don't drink/bar hop, I've never been. I recently stopped by to see a free comedy show and I was a little surprised (not in a positive way). First off, there was no one greeting or showing people to tables, so many of us had to stand the entire time. I heard they were bringing more chairs, but never did. Also, I saw a few servers, but none of them ever came over and asked if I wanted anything. I ended up making my way to the bar and while I know they were busy, I would have appreciated a bit more of a friendly attitude. It seems like maybe they all bartend and serve versus having 1 designated bartender...? Also, the bathroom was the biggest shock! They have building permits all around and outside the front door. I'm assuming they're going some renovations. So, they have a port-a-potty right out front. They also have a single stall and another bathroom, but it's out of order for renovations. The bathroom that was open was horribly dirty. It makes me really nervous to eat at a restaurant that has a dirty restroom. Sadly, I was hungry and did end up ordering the giant pretzel. I think it's probably incredible if drunk, but being sober it did not taste too great. The cheese was ok, but I think I've had a better pretzel at a sporting event. I think there's some people out there who absolutely love Durty Nellys and I think it does have a bit of charm, but needs a major face lift and deep cleaning.

Has a cozy interior, and good selection of things available on the menu. I think the food is pretty overpriced for what it is.

For an appetizer we posted the massive pretzel and a side of fries. Our drinks were an old fashion and a Corona. The cocktail was strong, but full of the flavors you'd expect from an old fashion. For dinner my wife had the Irish Stew and I ordered the Bangers and Mash. Wow, everything was delicious! The price was great and the portion sizes were plentiful. It was comedy night and Fair Trade Comedy crew offered a broad spectrum of comic styles that were enjoyed. There was no cover fee so we made sure to tip the comedians for their entertaining sets. We'll come back for another show and more great food.

Durty Nelly's is the best. I've been twice: once on a Saturday night and once on St. Patrick's Day (arguably the busiest night of the year for Irish pubs!!). Both times, despite the crowds, the lines moved quick, service was great, and I had a ton of fun. The space is so roomy and they have an outdoor patio space too. They do karaoke on Saturdays. The only thing is, they have single stall bathrooms and there can be quite a line!

Pretty neat heavy, as Irish food tends to be, but there are a few vegetarian friendly options. The chips with malt vinegar are tasty, the vegan nuggets are good, great accompanying sauce. Unfortunately, my recent visit was such a disappointment. Let's start with food. We ordered wings, chips and whipped feta. The wings had clearly been refrigerated and thrown on the grill for a hot second. The fat on them were soft and gelatinous and when I bit into it, the center was hard and super cold. It also smelled like a fridge. We sent them back and asked for a fresh batch but they had just taken the same ones and warmed them up. Very possible they were microwaved. I knew they were the ones I sent back because the wing I had taken a bite out of and spit out was right back on the plate. Then let's get into the chips. They were stale. They advertised them as home made and I don't doubt that but it's like they made them 3 days ago and left them out. They were cold and barely crispy. We sent these back as well and we got a slightly better batch but I wasn't going to argue this with the staff. The saving grace was the whipped feta. This was actually good. Nothing wow but it was edible since the other two items were such a huge let down. Now service. The lady that served us was very very sweet. However, not a great server. She disappeared and we needed to flag down another server for a refill. She was also not the one that we could talk to about our disappointing food. Another server had to come check on us. I don't think I could convince my husband to come back here, let alone spend money on this. It's unfortunate since I was hoping to share a slice of my former Newport stomping grounds with him.

Long before Yelp was even a thing, and long before the internet really was put into the hands of the cow in person, this was the hub. This is where you went to meet people, exchange ideas, have conversation and more. The harp is really an institution in Orange county. And not just because it has longevity, there's a reason that it has sustained power. This place is probably one of the most authentic Irish pubs I've been to. Having been to Ireland. I can attest that this is right there with a standard pub in a small town. Which makes it wonderful. The people that run the place, especially Paul, is one of the reasons why I keep coming back here. He's personable, funny, and no-nonsense right. I like his way of thinking and his approach to customer service a second to none. Now let's talk about the food and drinks. From a drink standpoint. You cannot go wrong with this place, the drinks are thoughtfully made, this guy knows how to pour a beer. As far as food goes. I highly recommend the beefeater sandwich, and you cannot go wrong with the chicken wings. Some of the best wings I've had ever. Friday and Saturday nights is usually popping pretty hard when they have bands playing. So, good luck trying to find a seat anywhere in the place. When there is an event that night. You will have to get there early for sure. The bottom line? This is a go-to hangout. If you are looking for a good watering hole to meet people, just hang out and have a good time, or watch a game on the big screen TVs. F*** I would highly recommend the harp to anybody and everyone in the Orange county area.

The staff is attentive from the moment you enter, and this morning was particularly busy with limited table availability. Despite this, they promptly acknowledged our presence and exhibited exceptional friendliness and assistance. During the order taking process, they continued to provide helpful guidance. Although the tables were packed I think the ambiance was acceptable. The noise level remained low and the service was swift and quiet. The menu had everything we would want. We had the chicken-friend steak and eggs and briskets and gravy. Eggs were cooked excellently, biscuits were also excellent. Here are my suggestions. Chicken-fried steak - this item tastes and feels like frozen steak pre-breaded and fried - tossed in the microwave and covered with white cream gravy. This item needs to be raised to the level of freshly fried and not in seed oil but in avocado or coconut oil (both are high temp and non-toxic) The gravy is white cream and flavorless - it needs to receive the "drippings" from the fried steak, sausages, or bacon to produce brown gravy with some flavor. This establishment does not have espresso - every other breakfast place in OC does - Breakfast Republic, Poached Kitchen, Cracked Egg, etc. Servers can make good espresso if the espresso machine is automatic like a Jura with two bean trays and a milk reservoir. This is a profit center and most places have a dedicated person who continuously make espresso drinks.
